If you had to pick, Wild West or Medieval Times?

I’m kind of curious to see what everyone would pick.
Personally I’m partial to the Wild West. I think I would’ve made a great outlaw, robbing trains, being notorious throughout the states, the whole thing.

I'd take the Wild West anyday. The chances of me being a noble in the Medieval times would be extremely slim and I'd rather not be an indentured servant/peasant who probably dies of some disease as a child >.<. Not to say that couldn't happen in the Wild West too but at least it seems like there's no monarchy to serve under and you can just kind of do your own thing!

Hands down Medieval/Renaissance era here... Recovering History addict, though, hold the recovering part... While I do have an enjoyment of the Wild West, growing up in Texas, that stuff is everywhere. While my knowledge of horses and how things work around that setting is thorough, I still have a mad love for Knights, Intrigue, and courtly endeavours...

I’m going to interpret this question as to which setting I like to dive in for entertainment. This is a tough decision but I choose Medieval. You can do so much with it such as fantasy, historical, supernatural, and even mythological. The Wild West is mainly set in the West. Sure there are some outliers but you never usually see what I listed for Medieval set in the West.

Medieval.

While the Wild West has interesting themes and opportunities, Medieval has the added element of toughness brought on by a lack of technology (even the limited tech of the Wild West).

To me, a medieval setting allows for more raw, character-delving stuff. (Not saying you can't do that in a Wild West setting, just expressing my opinion on the matter. :) )

Medieval, always.

Maybe it's due to growing up in Britain but we aren't as closely connected to the 'Wild West' trope. Whereas pretty much every piece of Medieval media is in some way based on or around Britain (Game of Thrones being a perfect example.)

Just the whole idea of knights riding into battle on horseback and armies crashing into each other, really gets the pulse going at times.

If I ended up time-slipping I would want to time-slip into medieval Brittain or Scotland. Harsh climate, brutal punishments, uneducated populous, but worth it to see those knights swings around their great swords all willy-nilly.

Here's my problem...

Cowboys and knights sorta fill the same aesthetic niche, of roaming warriors on horseback. But they do have some distincion. Knights represent order, loyalty, honor. Cowboys are inherently rebellious, counter-culture.

Ah shit, even the stories you tell are similar...a knight falling in love with the princess he's charged with protecting isn't much different than the governor's daughter falling for the young handsome outlaw.

I honestly can't answer honestly.

to echo our resident @echo, hands down medieval times. full stop. end of story. 'nough said. i wanna sling some arrows, nab a few heads for bounties, and drink my coin away in a tavern until i accidentally kick my chair too far back and pass out into an alcohol induced coma.

Wild West. The advancements in technology and medicine between them is not even funny. Probably live a boring life, or work at a Saloon or something.
