Matthew swore to himself in the cramped space. Why would there be so many problems already? It could just be the mentor feeding false readings into the diagnostic systems. Even so, this problem needed to be solved... He punched a few spots on his datapad, which was attached by cable to an electronic maintenance panel on the bulkhead. The small area was the only access to what he was trying to fix. Security purposes and such... He huffed, blowing a bit of his sandy-blond hair around in the microgravity. Who would mess with things on a little training frigate? However, if the ship were to maneuver any way aside from it's current heading, he was liable to get knocked around a bit in the null gravity. Aside from being cramped, it was also fairly dark, only the blue glow from his datapad illuminating the cranny. Taking a sip from the stim-tea pouch buttoned to the shoulder of his dark-blue jumpsuit, he started to go over the procedure, talking to himself. "Cut main, start auxiliary, cycle main, purge main, restart main, repressurize main, stop, cycle, purge auxiliary, restart main." He tapped in the commands, fingers adeptly flying over the touchscreen of his datapad. Finally a green light under 'Coolant Status'. "Yes!" He cheered, unplugging his datapad from the access point, the cord retracting back into the case, and pushed off the bulkhead and floated into the cabin. "Systems green" He shouted towards the cockpit.

Leila sighed to her self as she waited for Matthew to fix the ships problem. She had tried everything she could from to cockpit but the problem didn't seemed to be there. So it had be up to Matthew now to fix the problem. She had to admit, he been down their for awhile and she was getting kind of bored. She sat in the pilots chair with her feet up infront of her, leaning back in the seat. She wore a pair of tight tan trousers that hugged her legs. On the top she wore a white button up shit with black pinstripes and a black vest over the top. Most pilots would have probably been wearing a jumpsuit of some description, but she never really liked the things so she chose not to.

She ran her hands through her dark brown hair as she waited for him to finish. She closed her green eyes and seemed to look as though she was asleep. Once he called "Systems green". She sat back up and muttered "About time" to her self and said "Lets charge her up". She sat up in her chair and flipped on a series of switches, pressed a few buttons and slowly but surely the ship began to move up and however a little before she began to take it out of the docking bay. She grinned to her self as they drifted slowly out into space before she pushed a leaver and the ship began to speed up as they moved.

Matthew pulled himself into the cockpit and into his chair, just behind and beside the pilot's. He wasn't quite sure on the girl's skills as a pilot, neverminding her neglect of dress code. Under his workstation, he worked his feet into loops in the floor, to keep him still as the artificial gravity of their station left them. Reaching forward, his fingers flew over the keypad of his station, running another diagnostic. "All's well.. Excellent, excellent.." He said to himself, then leaning back into his seat, just watching the readouts. Not that anything should suddenly go wrong. Just watching the fluctuations in reactor and propulsion output seemed... Entertaining to the engineer. Sad, isn't it? He thought silently with a bit of a grin before taking another drink.

Leila smiled and soon they were in open space. She looked at him and said "By the way, where are we going?" she asked him. Whilst trying to fix their ship and waiting for him to fix the ship, their destination had escaped her. She sighed to her self and said "I seem to have forgotten" she said to him. She opened up the ships navigation to set their course when he told her.

"To repair a probe orbiting one of the nearby planets." He sent the waypoint to her console as he read it off of his screen. "Have to get there and tug it out of orbit decay, do some minor fix-ups. Then another couple days on the way back home." Sighing, in stretched out, making sure to keep his feet in their holds so he wouldn't float off in the null-gee. Space flight was relatively new to humanity, and their little sub-frigate was way to small to be equipped with a jump-drive, so had to do it the old fashioned way, long time with a sub-lightspeed impulse drive.

Leila nodded and sighed to her self. "Another repair job then" she said. Leila set the course and really, there wasn't much left for her to do but sit back and enjoy the ride. She flicked on the auto-pilot and turned around in her chair and looked to him and said "Enjoy the ride" she said leaning back in her chair. She then got up and said "I'm going to get a drink, do you want something?" she asked floating out of the cockpit and to the food storage area. She found some canteens with water in them. She brought two of them. She handed him one and floated back into her seat. Opening the lid of the canteen she sucked some water up through the straw.

Matthew was about to object at receiving a canteen, when he noticed his pouch of tea had been sucked try during his messing with the coolant system. With a shrug, he took the water and sipped at it before replacing it on his shoulder, tossing the spent iced-tea pouch to the garbage bin, a container on the 'wall' with vanes that let things in, but not things out. With a yawn, he reached for his datapad on his utility belt, then started tapping buttons, to start playing Solitaire.

Leila sighed to her self and sipped on her water for awhile, there wasn't much to do really. She wished they'd been given something with a bit more "ooomph" to it, it would take for ever to get there in this thing. She watched him mess around on his data pad. these engineers were never people for conversation were they? She after two hours or so, she had pretty much stopped paying attention to the ship and was in her own little dream world, when red lights began to flash and their was a buzzing. It pulled her from her dream world and she looked around wearily. It was at that moment she realized they were heading straight for a crater, a big one at that.

"OH shit!" she said. Quickly flipping off the auto-pilot, she grabbed the wheel and turned it to the side, sending them into a barrel roll out of the caters path. She breathed a sigh of relief. but her relief was cut shot when she looked up. They had flown into an asteroid field.

"OH...fuck...." she cursed. How they hell did they fly into an asteroid field goddammit! She began to maneuver their ship like a fighter ship, dodging the lumps of dirt in their path.

As his pilot faded off, he too had, with little games he had... Installed on his datapad. Not exactly one to follow the rules, but, no one really seemed to have a problem with it. His state was rudely interrupted by the warning going off. He quickly clicked his pad back on his belt and started working at his controls. A little window popped up on the screen, showing the surroundings. "Ah hell..." Hanging onto one side of the console as the ship rolled, he typed in commands to the other. "Excess power to hull shielding... That should hold as long as we don't fly straight into one." The Engineer was tempted to again break protocol and hotwire the pair of railguns the craft had. They were offline and had no ammo, it was only a little training/repair mission. But, he thought, they could at least shoot little pebbles of asteroid around the barrel. Although it wouldn't exactly be effective at clearing the way for them, maybe push something larger out of the way. Deciding against it, he hung on as it was up to the pilot.

Rolling, moving up, diving down, this continued to a few minutes till finally it seemed they had reached the end of the asteroid field. She breathed a sigh of relief and took a drink of her water. "Bloody hell, I think I just saved our arses" she said leaning back into her chair. She looked at him and said "You alright?" she asked him. She looked at him and grinned a little and chuckled. She looked forward again and said "That will teach me not to daydream".

By the time the ride was over, Matthew was white-knuckling his console. "Yeah... Just fine..." He said, in a bit of a daze. He didn't exactly enjoy pulling G's like that. The little spinning of the station, to produce artificial gravity, he didn't mind. But that wasn't very pleasant. Reaching down to his belt, he popped open a ampule, taking a pill and popping it dry. Good old-fashioned motion-sickness pills. Unlike pilots, he didn't really need injections or microsurgery to reduce or even stop the dizzying of spins and rolls. "Okay, I'll run a scan for any more things in our way..." Starting to work again, although slower, he reversed the changes he made while they were escaping the field, and started to ping the space around them. As well as increased the distance that the proximity alarm went off at...

Leila grinned at him and said "Good, You looked like you were going to throw up for a minute back there" she said grinning. She smiled and put the ship back on auto-pilot. She took another sip of the cold water, relieving her insides a little. She sighed and looked out. She looked at the navigator. "Looks like we only have about 45 minutes to go" she said to him.

He looked up at her. "Less than an hour." Looking back at his screen, he shrugged. "Whatever it is." Tilting his head to his pouch of water, he took a long drink of it, relieving himself from the maneuvers.

She smiled to her self and leaned back in the chair. It wasn't long till they were coming up to the planet with the probe that need repair work. "Right, wear here. Now, how are we going to go about fixing this thing, do you want me to land on the planet or are we going to work off the ship?" she asked him.

He thought for a moment. "I thought be able to work on it from here, just need to get it in range and the utility arm in the cargo hold should be able to hold onto it and perform repairs." Tapping at his keyboard, he brought up controls. "Should, being the key word."

Leila nodded and said "Alright, want me to just pull up beside the probe?" she asked him moving slowly by the probe as he tapped at his key board.

"Yeah, right beside it." As she pulled closer, he reached out with the robotic arm and grasped the satellite around the hull, making sure the pressure the grip put on it was not too high. Then, with the hold open, he sent the command to send out a pair of repair drones, which were capable to repair things, much better than a robotic arm or human in an EVA suit could do.

Leila nodded and said "Okay". When he was close enough she made sure to keep the ship still and just hovering while he did his work. It was all him now.

Matthew tapped away at his keyboard, sending commands to the drones of how to repair the probe. Every once and awhile he'd say something to himself as he looked over the orbiter from the repair drone cameras. After nearly half an hour, a little beep came from his monitor. "Looks like she's good to go." Typing in a few more commands, he released the repaired probe and recalled the repairers.

Leila waited for him to do his job. Once he indicated that he was done she looked at him and said "Do we have to do anything else or what?" she asked him, sitting back up in her chair.

He shrugged at the pilot. "Not that I know of. I thought it would take days for this trip, not hours. Could just go into a Ell-one orbit and sit around."

"Alright, sounds good! Just find a place to orbit or hover and we can just sit around." Moving away from his console, Matthew floated towards the food storage area. Reaching into a cabinet, he found a little silver packet marked 'Anhydrous Persica'. They weren't quite as good as real peaches, but, enough to satisfy his craving. He also took out another pouch of cool tea, which was also peach flavoured.

Leila smiled and entered orbit around the planet. She then smiled and put the ship on standby which turned of the booster engines and consuming less fuel. She got up and floated by him and said "I think I'm going to have a shower" she told him and headed for the bathrooms. She floated down the hallways. Putting her hand on a pad the doors opened and she locked the door behind her. Pushing button on the side, she turned on the artificial gravity, landing on the floor. She smiled and then stripped down to nothing and stepped into the shower. She pushed a few buttons and soon warm water was flowing down her wholesome body.

"You do that..." He said, sucking on a few tidbits of synthesized peach. There was a light little jerk as an internal part of the ship started to spin, producing artificial gravity. He paused for a moment, and out of boredom, he ran a check.... Figures, she locked the door, he thought to himself. Shrugging, he leaned back in his chair as his pilot had a shower.
