It was a misty morning in this small, said to be haunted town. Daniel walked throw a crowd and began speaking to a officer. He was directed to a mysterious body that laid dead in the middle of the street. Being a detective, Daniel began helping inspect the body.

It was a middle aged man. There was no external wounds of any kind. Only blood trailing from his ears. The only other thing unusual about him was his eyes, which where stuck wide open. It was certainly a strange body. But not the first this town had seen. In fact this town was quite uesed to strange cases and body

Over sixteen people had died the same way over the course of a year. Thanks to that and a mysterious melody that could be heard throughout town the night before a body is found, has lead to a rumor going around. That this town was indeed haunted by evil spirits. Daniel sighted and wrote down the name of the newest victim. He examined it for any clues he could find. The only clue he could find was a particular connection some of the victims had with each other. A connection to the man living on the top of the tallest hill in the town.

Elise had been purchased almost a year ago, black market merchants had retrieved her from the orphanage she had been at shortly after she had become an adult, and she had been transferred place to place for quite sometime before someone had finally managed to buy her. The small hopes she'd had for being taken in by someone kind had all but been destroyed by now... Sixteen people were killed now, by her voice... She was a fae child... with the power to do wonderfully good or horrifyingly terrible things with her voice alone, and her master desired death... Unending death. Her master had beeno arguing with someone earlier, that was never a good sign, someone would surely suffer that night... She sat at the window in the tallest room of the estate, it was barred, but it was all she had to the outside world, her clear other-worldly eyes longed to see more again, though she knew she would never be allowed out unless her master permitted such a thing. Rumors were flying around the air, all the fae folk were whispering about a detective from out of town being brought in to investigate the deaths, this was surely not good news for her master, the fae were never wrong and always carried news faster than the humans had... She could always hear them, but never spoke a word of any of it to her master, she would never permit him such anot upper hand, especially when all he did was cause suffering in his every wake.

This morning was not a good one. Dispite his theory only half of the victims had this connection to the man that lived on the hill, Earl Adelbert Borthwell. No matter who he brought the theory to at the local station nobody would believe him. Daniel let out a sigh as he held his head.

"What's got ya so down Danny?" A voice asked. It was Inspector Arnold Harrison, one of the chief inspectors in this town. He was also a good friend of Daniel's late father and has known Daniel since he was very young.

"Nothing at all Harrison." Daniel replied. "Just the usual frustration of close minded idiots."

"Well what do ya expect? Ya may be a big shot detective in the city now, but the officers here mainly see ya as a young upstart sticking his nose where it doesn't belong at best." He told him. "Plus yar lead suspect is an Earl after all. Aun one that has a alibi for several other murders. Adelbert Borthwell ain't gonna be high on any suspect list."

"Still... I just have this gut feeling." Daniel added.

"Hehe well if I learned anything from ya old man. It was to trust his gut!" Harrison said. "This latest victim has no family. But he is an fellow of Earl Borthwell. So at the very least an officer like meself otta let him know about his business partner's death. And if a detective I bring a long gets a chance to inspect the place for any leads... well that would just be a huge convenience for a lazy ol officer like me."

Daniel took the man's hand and stood up form where he was sitting. The two men walked to the manor atop the hill over looking the town. Not knowing what would await them there. For meanwhile at the top of the hill in the manor of the dreadfully awful Earl Adelbert Borthwell. The man himself gazed into a glass object he held tight in his fist. Smiling a delightful yet menacing smile.
