"Yes! Everything is ready. The dinner is almost ready and all I need is to pull out a pillow and a comforter from the basement. Don't worry Raj, everything will be taken care of. I know your you're excited because your friend is coming over but he's my friend too!" Priyanka shouted from the kitchen just as Raj was asking annoying questions before heading into the shower. She laughed to herself as she took off her apron and hung it on the inside of a pantry door before moving over to the sink to wash a few containers, setting them aside so they can dry off. It was an odd time because it was only 5 in the evening, too late for snacks and bit too early for a diner. She had prepared dinner if he was keen on eating dinner and she could put up a pot of coffee/tea should he settles on that.

It was true, Alex was also her friend and technically, she was friends with him before she was friend with Raj, meeting Raj a semester later. Priyanka and Alex first met on the tour during an open house, she was still in her senior year and he was already third year in college, overseeing the open house as a volunteer. It was a critical time for any highschooler, trying to decide which college to attend to and open house was a great way to get a feel of how things would be for the next four years, the campus practically being their home until they'd graduate. She met him again in one of her classes that very first semester. It was in the second semester, she moved to much cooler dorms than the ones she was in her first semester. The darn place was flooded during the winter break. Raj was in the same dorms and when introduced by Alex, Priyanka and Raj took a liking in each other. They got along with just fine. It was then, Priyanka started to stray away from him and more towards Raj.

She never saw her friend as a potential guy she'd date just because there was no future. He was an American and she, an Indian, destined to marry a guy of similar background. Raj was that guy, even then it was a tough fight convincing her parents to let her marry him. She wasn't going to marry some guy of their choosing and so when he proposed to her in her senior year of college, she couldn't help but say YES. The fact that Raj had graduated two years ago and had a nice job, it served as a winning argument with her parents. That summer, after her graduation, they decided to get married without wasting anymore time. Mainly because Raj knew that he couldn't get a better woman than Priyanka and having fallen in love with him, she really wasn't going to look for someone else.

Before meeting Raj, she had always been that perfect girl who came from a small town in East Coast and even a smaller town back in India, where her parents were from. They brought her over when she was very young but then she had to adapt to both cultures and it was very tough. However, to survive, she adapted to some values from American culture and let go some of the values from her Indian culture. One was a lot more conserved and another was just as much the opposite. Her parents made sure that she accepts her main culture more, strictly prohibiting her from dating and forcing her to concentrate on her studies. That's why, when she met Raj, she didn't know any better and they hit it off, making him the only guy she ever dated and been with.

It was evident that Alex had always been there for her, but he was friends with Raj way before she came to study at the college. Though, they haven't had the time to stay in touch as often now, years later, Alex became a very successful business man while Raj was pretty much making a slow progress in his career. It was the couple's idea to tell their mutual friends to come and stay with them because they wouldn't allow it otherwise. Not when they have a house right in the city. Priyanka worked in a financial firm but many times, she was allowed to work from home and therefore, she was mostly home whilst Raj was all over due to his work, even out of states trips at times. She knew he worked hard to get where he was and was working twice as hard to go beyond to get a promotion. That's why she loved him, hardworking man trying to provide comfort to the love of his life. And she happily worked from home, doing two jobs at once, the real job as well as that of a housewife. At the age of 29, she felt she's achieved everything she could ever want.

It was about time when Raj came out of the bathroom and Priyanka decide to go in to freshen up, telling him to go wait downstairs because he should be here any minute now.

As Alex rode in the taxi, his mind was going in a million directions. From the perspective of his hosts, he was on his way to visit his longtime friend (a best friend even), and his wife who was also a friend. But Alex had a very different though undisclosed perspective. While Raj had always been one of his closest friend’s since their time in college, he also was the man who destroyed Alex’s life. Even if Raj did not intend to wrong Alex, he had done exactly that at least from Alex’s perspective. Alex knew that love at first sight made no sense because love requires a deep understanding and knowledge of a mate. However, Priyanka was the only person Alex ever imagined sharing his life with after meeting her during their campus tour of the college. They had become good friends before Alex introduced the one person who filled his fantasies and dreams to Raj, his so-called “best friend.”

While Alex pursued the object of his affections, he was subtle and respectful because he knew her parents and cultural background were obstacles to a relationship. He also knew that every moment he spent with her he was falling deeper and deeper in love. As early as the campus tour, Alex could not take his eyes off of Priyanka. Her beautiful face with those eyes that seemed so warm and inviting, her soft tan complexion, and her full, lush lips completely overwhelmed him. Simply put, he had never seen a more beautiful woman. Her sweetness only caused the physical attraction he felt to deepen and mature into much deeper feelings.

By the time Alex introduced Raj to the girl of his dreams, Alex knew he was hopelessly in love. He never told Priyanka how he felt, but he thought his devotion to her was obvious. Then shortly after Raj and Priyanka’s first meeting, Raj, Alex’s so-called best friend, was suddenly dating the love of Alex’s life. Alex was devastated, but he loved Priyanka enough to step aside if Raj was the one she wanted. He thought his decision was honorable and believed his sacrifice would serve as a symbol of his love for Priyanka.

He was wrong. When he saw those beautiful lips part for Raj, he felt as though a dagger was piercing his heart. As he watched Raj wraps his arm around Priyanka, Alex wanted to yank her free. His feeling festered like an open sore until he developed a hatred for Raj and resentment toward Priyanka. On the surface, he was still friends with the couple, but he was incapable of forming emotional attachments with other potential paramours. Dates became an occasion for determining why his companion did not match up to Priyanka.

At the relatively young age of 34, Alex had acquired a net worth that was well into seven figures. He also had learned that financial resources bring opportunity. He had become friends with Adam Reyolds, the CEO of Merkel Pharmaceuticals, with whom he did a lot of business. In the course of their discussions, Alex learned of a new experimental drug called TR-35. Although the FDA had not approved the drug, clinical trials were underway to determine whether the drug could be used for the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder, as well as some other mental health conditions.

Adam explained that the drug eased inhibitions and reduced anxiety levels, leaving patients pliable to suggestion. The belief was that combining the drug with therapy could help people slowly resolve their underlying issues and modify their behavior. “You mean it is sort of like a hypnotic drug,” Alex asked.

Adam laughed, “If you are asking whether the drug will turn the object of your desires into a walking, talking, sex zombie who drools over you, the answer is no. However, the drug will make people open to suggestion along with reinforcement through behavior and interactions with others. Our clinical testing shows that the drug impacts both attitudes and behavior over a prolonged period.” Adam asked Alex for a sample of the drug. While Adam was somewhat uncomfortable with the request, he agreed because their companies did an enormous volume of business.
“Sir, I need the house number,” the taxi driver asked, stirring Alex from his thoughts. Alex responded and patted the bottle in his pocket with the experimental drug that would hopefully help him win the girl of his dreams and alienate Raj and Priyanka from each other. While Alex’s conscious goal was to win Priyanka’s love, he did not yet realize the extent to which his bitterness, pain, and resentment had left a rotting, festering, sore deep inside him.

As he paid the taxi driver, Alex could not believe that he was so close to obtaining the object of his desires after so many years of pining away for her. He knocked on the door and smiled warmly when Raj opened it. “Hey buddy, it has been way too long,” Alex said warmly. He gave Raj a hug and stepped inside. Alex tried to focus on their conversation, but he was looking past Raj waiting for her.

The damage had done and the couple had no idea of it. They were clueless about how they've hurt their friend and how much he was aching. They had no idea of a vendetta against them that was being plotted as they waited for their dear friend's arrival, inviting the trouble over. Usually, people ran in different direction when they hear 'trouble'. In their case, it was masked behind a friendly face that was friends to both of them. Naive enough, they both wanted their friend to stay with him while Alex builds his dream house because he was going to be moving here and managing his business from this city for a while. They'd heard he had businesses all over and that he lived all over the place, this would be his home for a while, as in this city. He wouldn't be for too long in their house but just long enough to do his deed and plant his seeds.

To them, he was their best friend and would make sure he's living comfortably in their home. Sure, their privacy would be compromised but not so much. The couple usually kept busy and their sex life was great in their own silly way, once every few week of what seemed like a ritual sex that hasn't been changed since the time had started dating. Nothing new and definitely no excitement. Though, they were still in love and that held more importance to them than just sex, partially because they both knew they work hard to be where they were and both were doing their best to build a family. Having a child was still too early for them, though their parents were now bugging them. As it was a norm in their culture to do things early on, they did get married early. Though, this was one thing they wanted to be ready for. It just wasn't the time.

Pretty Priyanka, little did she knew about Alex being infatuated with her and years away from her had only built his obsession for her even more. Usually, such things usually dies out, as would a love if you happen to stay away from your other half for far too long. It wasn't the case here as it seemed to be the same, if not more. Priyanka met Raj because of Alex and many times, she'd thanked him, even Raj had thanked Alex as they wouldn't be here if it weren't for Alex. That was why, he was also a best man at their wedding, dear to both, they were happy that Alex was in attendance. Though, he did leave right after and she still taunted him for it, business he called it but little she knew, the matter was something else.

If Alex had fallen in love with her, Priyanka simply had no idea of it. She always thought there could never be THEM, just because of her cultural background and what not. Priyanka knew she was pretty but never the one to show off, till date. She didn't provocatively teased boys, she had always been a bit casual when it came to her nature and even her dressy style. She did like to keep herself up to day with fashion, though never resorting to slutty outfits like many girls. Her natural look was plenty to make any man turn his head around. Truthfully, she would have no idea what she might have done or said had Alex confessed to his feelings for her back then.

priyanka-chopra_zps54dfrt18.jpg

Priyanka had no idea how she'd hurt Alex. She wouldn't believe him if he told her of his feelings for her and how, even today, he was trying to find someone just like her. Of course, he was failing at it because there was only one Priyanka and having liked her for so long to obsess over her, he wouldn't be able to replace her with anyone else, even if he finds someone who looks just like her. The personalities would be different. Priyanka had just finished showering when she heard their main door open and could hear someone chat. She knew it had to be Alex and Raj who were talking, finding herself rushing to put her clothes on. Though, not fast enough. Eventually, she was ready as she came out of her room and down the stairs, the bottom half of the stairs that was visible from the main entrance as it led into the foyer. "And look who it is?" she said in her distinctive tone of voice, thicker but sultry. Dressed in a white full sleeves top and a pair of blue jeans, she made her way down to where the two men were getting acquainted with each other after a long time. Bare feet, she can barely make it to Alex's nipple level as he stood taller than Raj and Priyanka. Walking past her husband, she moved to hug him and it wasn't a formal hug from the side as if hugging a stranger but a full frontal hug where her chest was pressed into him. Her hands came around his sides and around his back while her head turned and rest on his chest, "It's so good to see you after a long time!" A soft smile on her face was present, pulling back eventually, she looked up at him, "This guy have been bugging out ever since, looking out the window for you to arrive."

When he saw her, the intensity of his emotions was overwhelming. He had fantasized about her for years, but she was so much more beautiful than he remembered. The years that had passed had been more than kind to her. She was so much more breathtaking than the college beauty for whom he had burned with a fiery passion. He was so overcome that he almost felt compelled to go to, kneel in front of her, and profess his love. He wanted to confess everything and tell her he was sorry for what he had planned to do. He knew that what he had planned was wrong and hurtful, and momentarily, he was not sure he could put her through the loss and emotional pain that his plan entailed.

Instead, he walked to her, gave her a warm hug, and looked into her eyes, “You just get more beautiful,” he said. Maybe he would abandon his plan; he felt real love for her and that love had filled him with compassion. He could not hurt her. His eyes drank her in; she dressed stylishly but with the confidence and poise of a woman who makes any outfit look like the perfect choice. He knew she had never walked into a room without making every pair of male eyes in the room make her the center of attention. He couldn’t do it. He wouldn’t hurt the woman he loved. She clearly loved Raj, and she was happy. He would find a way to be comforted by the fact the woman of his dreams was happy.

Then Raj made a mistake that would seal their doom. “I know, right? I am the luckiest guy in the world to have the most gorgeous and sweetest wife ever. Thanks for bringing us together, bro!” Dr. Jeckyll’s compassion and love were replaced with the raw hatred and contempt that can only grow from the seeds of jealousy and betrayal (real or imagined). Raj’s words had been an invitation to the darkest side of Alex’s nature. Hyde had been released, and he wasn’t going anywhere. “Here you go pretty lady,” he said while handing Priyanka a bottle of wine spiked with the first dose of the experimental drug.

Alex’s had long planned this meeting and knew the first stage had to be surveillance and conditioning. He broke his embrace with Priyanka and called over Raj, “Hey buddy, what are you doing? Get in here.” He put his arms around his friends just like the old days. “I missed you both so much. Let's open this bottle of wine and catch up.”

In many respects, this first stage of his plan would be the most important. He would exploit their suppressed inhibitions to explore the weaknesses and vulnerabilities in their marriage and create new areas of dissatisfaction and conflict between them. Alex recognized that nothing could cause discontent in a relationship more than jealousy and mistrust, so he would use this knowledge to start his assault on this happy marriage. “Hey Raj, you want to come take a peek at my new toy – my Aston Martin. It is a little flashy for my taste. But it was a gift from a client, so what am I going to do, right.”

Though Alex might have become twisted inside, he knew that money was the number one cause of conflict in marriages, so he would use this realization to promote difficulties. “I hear you are doing great with your business, bud. I am looking forward to you picking me up in your Rolls, which is probably just around the corner with how well I hear you're doing. Heaven knows Priyanka deserves all the luxuries,” he said looking at Priyanka. “I realize you don’t care about that stuff, but Raj and I know that men love to spoil those they love. I bet Raj is constantly coming home with gifts just because,” Alex said. He knew they were tight on money, so he wanted Priyanka to notice that Raj did not surprise her with such gifts. “Little things just to remind you he spent the day thinking about you,” said Alex. The reason this was not happening was a tight budget, but Alex would get Raj spending on other trivial discretionary items as a reminder that he was not stretching to provide Priyanka with symbols of his affection and devotion.

Alex and Raj walked outside to look at the car and get Alex’s bags while leaving Priyanka to open the wine. “Wow, Raj you have the tiger by the tail. Beautiful and sweet wife, growing business, and the best friend in the world,” Alex smirked. Although Raj had yet to consume any of the drug, Alex was going to begin planting thoughts about physical preferences that he could reinforce later. “I had forgotten Priyanka was so tiny. I have this secretary at my office with the biggest tits you have ever seen. The ‘girls’” (He understood the pejorative nature of the term, but wanted it to become natural in their conversations) “with bee sting type breasts do not even get jealous when we ogle Selena’s huge breasts. Heck, they know that nothing could be more natural. I mean how could we not gawk, right. I am sure Priyanka is the same way, right. There is nothing wrong with just looking. I mean, you promised to ‘love, honor, and obey’ not to go blind,” Alex chuckled. Alex knew that Raj would resist these ideas initially, but he only wanted to sow the seeds of discontent for later.

The years sincerely had been kind to her, that’s for sure. She always look sophisticated and proper in no matter what she wore at any given day. She did like to dress up and had always been her thing ever since. Both men had seen her at her worst and even in her PJs, she still carried herself well in them. Look wise, she hadn’t changed a lot and still look the same for the most part. Matter of fact, she had more time on her hands to work out and her part job had kept her busy between the job itself and the house chores. In her culture, a full time job of her was to actually be a proper housewife on top of having a real job. It’s how the ladies were taught to be and she was no different. She made sure Raj had a dinner when he came home and keeping the house neat and tidy was all part of her job, life, wife duties, call it whatever you want to call it.

Priyanka had no idea just how the man was aching for her as he sure as hell never showed it on his face or confessed to her. Little did she knew the debate that was going on in the back of his mind; to whether put her through the torture or not. If he was planning this, the question was why wait so many years to do so? One explanation could be so that he never had gotten an opportunity until now. And if that’s the truth, he had just hit a jackpot now that he was actually living with them. Even if Alex were to get on his knees and confess his love for her, Raj would just stand there, debating if he should kick him out or hear him out. Raj was never a possessive boyfriend and a husband. He was the kind of man that steer his wife away when he sees someone pass a sly comment about her, instead of standing up for her.

Though, she was also quiet in that nature so always thought it was best to ignore such people and walk away. It always works, doesn’t it? The man stood tall as she hugged him, feeling his arms come around to pull her into a hug, she couldn’t help but feel this odd comfort. Of course, her mind was oblivious to it and so it sort of just ignored the feeling as she smiled, “And you, handsome!” She complimented him and squeezed his chest a little in that hug, “You just keep getting bigger! Planning to turn into a giant or something?” She asked him as she pulled back, her dark eyes gazing up at him just as she pulled back.

Looking over her shoulder at Raj when he spoke, having no idea that his comment would actually solidify his plans furthermore. She tilt her head towards her husband as he proudly admitted that he was lucky to have met Priyanka, all thanks for Alex and that’s when she rubbed her husband’s shoulder before leaning in to Alex to hug him from the sides, “Yes…thank you!” She said and smiled, standing next to her husband as she wrapped her hand around his arm and slightly leaned into him. “Aww thank you very much for this treat. We will drink it tonight!” She said and smiled, taking the bottle of wine while they all hugged each other.

Priyanka stood on the side idly hearing Alex speak to Raj about his ride. “You’ve got your clients gifting you such a ride? Sweet!” Raj said and smiled, “Let’s check it out.” Even though they were doing quite well for themselves, they were still spending wisely because they couldn’t afford to otherwise. She had married Raj because she loved him, still does, but another factor was that his future seemed bright and that had actually convinced her parents. That’s why, for years, he didn’t let her work and she was a stay home housewife. It wasn’t until recently, she started to work when his promised promotion went over to some other guy at his work and Raj was back to working hard for it. Ever since, there’s been a little crunch, though, even without any crunches, he never or rarely ever bought her something expensive. The last car she got was after their marriage and it was a used 09 Lexus. A car that she wanted when she was in college. She smiled standing there, looking at her husband and then Alex, “He does…once in a while. Though, I do have to ask him for it.” It was true that she had to ask if she wanted something. It wouldn’t occur him to do things on his own, to gift her or surprise her.

Even though Priyanka wasn’t receptive of his command, her rightful wife duties forced her to go into the kitchen to grab a few wine glasses and brought them over to the living room table before setting them down there. She did think about how Raj didn’t surprised her enough but she overlooked it all. She didn’t give it much thought as she poured some wine for them all, picking hers up, she went over to the kitchen to start prepping up the dining table and what not so it was good to go when Alex felt hungry for dinner. Everything was set and by the time she was done setting things up in the kitchen, she had gone through one glass of wine, pouring another one for herself when she saw them two return back. “Good…you guys are back. She glanced at them, nudging her head towards the couches, “Relax, sit down. Unless you want to wash up and then eat…” She laid out a few option for Alex, “Some wine?” She asked and looked down at the two glass she’d filled for them two. “Don’t mind me. This is my second! It’s really good…smooth down the pipe. I like it.” She said to Alex and stood there, flicking her hair back.

Bill was beaming inside when he heard Priyanka say that she was on her second glass of wine. He had planned tonight carefully and hoped that she would consume plenty of the drug, so he could focus on her first. He had special plans for Raj later during a “boys night out.” Bill’s climb to the top of his law firm had brought him into contact with many less than savory characters. He had developed a plan that would allow him to spend most of the evening alone with Priyanka.

Bill hired a car thief to steal Raj’s car and make a lot of noise while he committed the theft. Raj would be forced to spend countless hours at the police station giving a statement and filing his criminal complaint. Bill allowed his glass to be filled but took such small sips that he would not be subject to the impact of the hypnotic drug. Every once in a while, Bill would wander around the house and slip into the bathroom to dump out his wine. He wanted to give the appearance of continuing to drink, so Priyanka and Raj would keep drinking.

As they sat in the living room drinking their wine, they heard a loud crash as a car alarm went off outside the house. Raj ran to the window and pulled back the curtain. “Shit, someone is stealing my car.” Then a brick came crashing through the living room window. Raj and Bill ran out into the front yard as the thief sped away in Raj’s car. They called 9-1-1, and the police showed up at the house. The police said they would need to have Raj come down to the station and file a police report. Raj said that the got a glimpse of the man, so they also wanted him to look through mugshot books. “Raj, I will go with you but . . . but I am a little worried about us both leaving Priyanka. I mean someone just put a brick through your window!” Bill looked to the officer and asked a question already knowing the answer, “Officer, my friend really needs to stay here with his wife. We are worried about her safety.”

“We need the owner of the car to file the complaint and make the statement. I agree that the young lady should not remain in the house alone tonight,” replied the officer.

Bill looked at Raj with a concerned look, “Raj, what do we do? We cannot leave Priyanka.” Bill had manipulated the situation, so Raj had no options. Once the commotion died down, Bill was alone with Priyanka. He walked over to her and saw that she was shaking. He poured another glass of the spiked wine and handed it to Priyanka. “Here, this will calm your nerves. I am so sorry you have to go through this.”

She had consumed enough of the wine and the drug that Bill now believed it was safe to go to work. He sat down so close to her that he could feel the heat from her body. He could smell the scent of her perfume. He was holding the bottle and filled her glass again. “You look like you are so stressed out. It will be fine. I will take care of you . . . (both)”, but the last word was inaudible. “You look so stressed. I know you are scared, but you need to try to relax or you are going to make yourself sick. I can see so much tension in your neck and shoulders. I am sure it would help if I massaged your shoulders and neck a little.” He started to reach for her shoulders and waited to see how she would respond.

Priyanka had no idea how the wine was going to take effect on her, apart from it making her a bit relaxed for the night. The drug that was inside it, mixed well, would prepare her for his next phase and she would have no idea that she was being changed little by little. And it wasn’t some temporary change but it would be of a permanent change, one that would bode into her life for good.

Little did the couple knew that inviting Bill was like inviting trouble in their lives, when they only saw him as a good friend. What would have happened if Bill had changed his mind in the first few minutes of his arrival, if Raj hadn’t opened his mouth? Would he have succeeded in calling the man off who was going to steal their car and throw a brick into their house? Too bad, it was something they had no control of. Having no idea of it, let alone having any control over it. Right before the brick came in flying through the living room window, Priyanka had poured herself another glass of wine, the wine never having affected her in a way liquor had. She always took wine as something casual of a drink which she can have without getting drunk, when having dinner or at an outing with friends for dinner or an event. It was a perfect poison.

Whilst they sat and chatted for a while, she also stood up to warm up some snack while they enjoyed each other’s company. It seemed that they were in the mood for it, rather than having a dinner that they can easily eat at a later time. Besides, it was a bit too early anyways. All of a sudden, they heard the alarm and things just happened so fast. Priyanka crossed her arms together while holding a glass of wine in her hand still, she watched the men run out as she tried peeking out through the now broken window.

Things happened so fast and Priyanka couldn’t help but freak out a little. She’s always been a strong woman but this was a bit out of the line. If someone was stealing a car, they are welcome to. But, why would they break down a window? It would just add more to the damage control and more money to be spent. When men came back, so did the cops, Priyanka stood there listening to Raj and Bill as they contemplated on who should go to the police station to file the report. “Maybe we all three can go?”

She had to offer as she stood next to her husband and looked at the cop and Alex. “You both can go if you have to. I don’t mind staying here if it’s not going to take too long.” She suggested when Alex asked the officer if he can go in place of Raj. Of course, she already knew the answer to it but she appreciated Alex stepping forward. Raj stepped in as well and asked Alex to stay back with her while he left the house with the officer. With them alone in the house, she still stood there and took a step towards Alex when he refilled her glass, her hands still crossed at her front but now, leaning into him yearning for that comfort and safety.

Once she was ushered back to the couch, she sat there and didn’t even find it bothering that he sat so close to her. Besides, they were friends and she wouldn’t even think about it, even though she was married now. She was slowly coming out of the shock and when he spoke about her being stressed, she eased into him, placing her head on his shoulder while one of her hands looped around his arm, “I am glad you are here Alex.” She whispered and added, “Thank you.” It was then, he started to work her shoulders and neck with one hand, couldn’t help but turned her back towards him, sitting on the edge so he had better angle and access to her, “Hmm that does feel good.” She said and tilted her head to the sides and back before running her hand through her raven hair, bringing them to drape to her front and out of his way. Her bare neck and his strong palm, working her sore muscles out. “What just happened?” She said and laughed, couldn’t help but find irony in this. “Sorry for the chaos Alex. You didn’t need this.” She said and looked over her shoulders.

Alex melted when he felt her lean into him, put her head on his shoulder, and loop her arm around him. He had longed for her touch for so long and fantasized about this moment so many times that he struggled to remain on his feet when she touched him. She had always had this power over him. He knew deep down that his feelings for her constituted the biggest threat to the success of his plan. His love for her had almost compelled him to confess and beg for forgiveness before he even got started with his plot. When she reacted to his touch by moving to the edge of the couch and sweeping up her gorgeous long black hair to grant him better access to her beautiful neck, he could not help allowing a slight smile to reach his lips.

He continued to rub her neck. Then, he allowed his hands to move down her back. He alternated the types of pressure and contact as he continued rubbing. “You probably want to lift up your shirt, so I can massage your back better. You have a bra on after all. It isn’t like I have haven’t seen you in a swimsuit before.” He hoped she would let him bask in the soft brown tan of her back. As he rubbed her back continuing to relax her, he said, “Priyanka, you know I will always be there for you if you ever need anything. Even through you and Raj are both my best friends, you can always confide in me if Raj is not making you happy. No one cares more about your happiness than I do.”

Alex invited Priyanka to lay back on the couch because she had been on her feet so much of the day. He got some lotion and laid her feet on a towel in his lap. He massaged her cute little feet and sexy little toes. “You have pretty feet Priyanka just like the rest of you. I bet it is exciting to be so pretty that men swoon for you wherever you go, huh? You know your husband finds you attractive because he married you, but you should be so excited and turned on when other men cannot help but swoon over your beauty even though they see that you are married. It must be so empowering to know you can flirt and tempt a man even though he knows you are unattainable.”

He wanted to ask her to take off her pants so that he could rub her legs, but he felt like that would be pushing too hard and too fast. He wiped the lotion from her feet and sat next to her on the couch. “You look tired Priyanka. Why don’t you lean against me because you can always lean on my when you are unhappy, unsatisfied, or lonely.” He reached an arm around her and pulled her into his arms. He was struggling to control the erection he had developed from touching her skin and rubbing her pretty feet. He snuggled against her body like a longtime lover.

“We should probably call and see how Raj is doing?” Alex said. He dialed the number to another confederate who was involved in his plot. The voice of the person who answered the phone emanating from the speaker, so Alex and Priyanka could hear, “Police department, how can I direct your call?”

“Yes, we were calling to check on Raj, who was there making a police report.”

The voice on the other end of the phone, “He left several hours ago with his wife.”

Alex looked perplexed but was smiling inward, “You must be mistaken. He never made it home.”

The officer replied, “I am not sure what to tell you, sir. The gentlemen left about three hours ago with his pretty young wife.”

“Um . . . I . . . okay,” Alex hung up the phone.

Bill had a look of compassion on his face as he hugged her but inside he was grinning maniacally. “Hmm . . . . Anyway, if you were mine, you would be the center of my universe.” He smiled and faked mock shyness, “I think that might be why I never married. I dated a lot but had a hard time finding a girl who could hold a candle to my best friend’s wife.”

He looked into Priyanka’s eyes, “Beautiful girl, you are the most amazing woman in the world, I would never cheat on you. Raj and I both love you. No man who loves you with his whole heart, like you deserve, would ever cheat on you. I know there has to be another explanation. On top of that, Raj knew what you had been through tonight and that you had even been placed in danger. He would never be so cavalier as to leave you alone under those circumstances.”

Alex hugged her and with sympathetic eyes and a compassionate soft tone and said, “Priyanka, I will just call Raj. He will tell us what is going on and clear this all up.” Alex’s heart hurt because he did not want to cause Priyanka pain. But he knew that he loved her and would care for her more than Raj, so she was better off in the long run.

Alex put the call on speaker and called Raj, “Hey Raj, what’s up?”
“Shit, I cannot believe how many hours I have been stuck at the police station. This is ridiculous.”

Alex looked for Priyanka’s reaction, “Wait, Raj I’m confused. Are you still at the police station.? Yeah, they are saying I will probably be here for several more hours.”

Alex knew that Priyanka would need his comforting now. “Okay Raj, we are doing alright here. We will see you when you get home” Alex hastily hung up the phone and took Priyanka back into his arms. “I am so sorry.” You deserve a man who would never stray. If you were my girl, you would be the center of my universe.” He gave her a chaste kiss on the forehead. “We will figure this out. You can lean on me because we care so deeply for each other.”

She couldn’t help but feel the warmth and comfort that was emanating from him as she leaned into him. There was some sense of security she was feeling in his wide arms and broad chest of his as his arm came around her shoulders to hold her to him. His strong hands on her shoulders could only sense the way they would work her stressed neck and shoulders, sweeping her hair away to allow him a better access. “Hmmm…that feels good Alex.” She said as she concentrated on some random object in near distance.

After some time, she turned her head to glance at him over her shoulders, smiling softly as she whispered, “Thanks.” Feeling his hands move down to her back, she leaned forward and froze a little when he suggested that she should lift up her shirt. She wasn’t going to do that. For one, she’d always been shy about it and second, she was married now. So what that she wore her swimsuit when they used to hang out at the beach back in the days. That was different and this was different.

She chuckled at his comment instead of becoming furious, he was a friend after all and they always joked around, “Before? You said it…it was then. This is now. You are silly…” she said and lifted her shirt just a bit, allowing him access to her lower back but nothing more. It was then, she’d feel his hands on her warm olive skin, working her back while he told her how he was always there for her. One thing was obvious, he was putting their friendship first and then his friendship with Raj, giving her an abundance of importance in his life. She wasn’t blind to that and it was obvious because they were friends way before Raj came into her life.

“Aww? I will tell you if that’s the case. And you can beat him up if he’s not making me happy,” speaking to Alex as he helped her to lay on her back, watching him move to the other end of the couch where he took her feet in his lap and started to work them while she propped her head on the hand rest, “It seems you know how to give massages better than you used to back then. You should have gone into this business.” She spoke casually, barely remembering the incident that had occurred few minutes ago.

She continued to lay there as he worked her toes and the soles of her feet with the lotion, feeling her feet relax against this strong fingers. She couldn’t help but wiggle them and stare at him, “Umm no. I don’t notice or pay attention to such thing. I don’t usually need to. I love Raj. I mean I am sure I get noticed but I usually pay no mind.” For a second, she felt he was blabbering on because the wine had gotten to him but she was completely or almost okay since she’s had more than the two men did. She would have put her guards up if he had asked her to remove her pants but it was best that he didn’t end up asking her to. It would raise all sorts of alarms even though he was her friend and she’d eventually doubt his intentions here.

She sat back up and leaned into him when he wrapped his arm around her shoulders, holding her as he told her again that she could tell him if she’s unhappy and she scoffed, “What is it? What makes you think I am unhappy? You are silly.” She told him and shrugged it off, “Yeah…let’s call him.” She said as she was about to grab her phone from the side when he called with his phone. She could hear him speak politely to the person on the other side of that call.

Her first thing to do would be to call her husband and if not reachable, she’d call the station. Though, she didn’t connect any dots when he called the station first and she didn’t buy it for a second that he left with some young wife. She’d never doubted Raj even when there’s late office meetings and conference over night or even a few days. It just never occurred to her and it wasn’t going to settle in now. She nudged him and laughed at his other silly comments. She noticed how he was trying to flirt with her even more. Perhaps he was trying to cheer her up. Whatever the case, she smiled, “And I am yours. I am your good friend I should be the center of your universe regardless! Aww…I am sure you will find someone suitable.” She said and turned around a little to hug him before easing back.

When he continued to tell her how Raj would never cheat on her, she already knew that. Not even for a second she thought that Raj was with someone else. And why was Alex thinking that way, it was out of her understanding. Nodding no, “The only explanation is that he’s at the station. And I would have gone with him if you weren’t here. I stayed back because you were here…to take care of me silly.” She said and punched him. “So yeah, he wouldn’t have left me here if it wasn’t for you. He trusts you. We trust you and we’re glad that you’re here.”

When the call was made, Alex spoke to Raj and just as they were about to hang up, she snuck in a sentence, “Yeah and call us if you need us to pick you up Raj.” And soon, the call ended and she found his arm come around her which she desperately needed in that moment. “And I do have a man…and I am the center of his universe.” She said chuckling a little, a relaxed tone to his worried tone, feeling him kiss her forehead. She couldn’t help but lean into him and realize that they do care for each other deeply. That didn’t mean she didn’t care for Raj either. Hugging him tightly, “I am just glad that you are here. And you must be tired too. Maybe I can warm up some tea or coffee for you. It will help you relax!” She said glancing up at him.
