Mistaken Identities [Raziel99 x AkumaTsuki]

Quickly shutting the door to the townhouse behind her, the brunette glanced once more at a tiny torn scrap of paper, before quickly crumpling it in her hand, shoving it in her muff. The tell tale chill of the encroaching winter hung heavily in the air, mixing with the gray plumes of smoke billowing up in the distance from the newly built factories on the horizon. In all outward appearance she looked the part of the perfect maiden of middle to upper society, a wonderful skill that had come in handy with previous jobs. Play the part, lure them in fast and quickly get out of town before the authorities were alerted. Having to explain anything even remotely “odd” to these people would land you in an asylum faster than you could say “Malkavian”, ironically enough one of the few clans that truly unnerved her. Their instability made them hard to anticipate when they acted.

The clip clop sound as her dress boots hit the pavement under her layered skirts, made her grimace slightly, how could she stay fully alert to everything around her when there were so many sounds. The cries of children wanting items in the store front windows, the hawkers calling out their wares, and even the carriages that congested the streets. Kaia wasn’t even fully sure of this assignment, simply that she had finished riding Perth of a particularly blood thirsty Ventrue, who’s discerning tastes had rid the small village near Glasgow of almost all of the town’s virgins.

She huffed, exhaling a small plume of steam from her lips. She should have dragged a chaperone along for this excursion; unmarried women still were restricted in movements in this pompous city. The only issue had been her only available contact was a foolish redeemer. How pathetic. She was sent to kill those that threatened the natural order humans had established…that they were the rulers of this world; Not some unnatural creature. It may be a solitary battle at times, but it was one she felt the need to continue. She was one of the few female hunters trying to rid the world of this vampiritic infection, or at least that she knew of. She’d get jabs about her place being in the home at the hearth, but slowly she hoped to be gaining the respect of the few other hunters she crossed paths with.

Clutching the stake hidden alongside the small vial of holy water concealed in the white rabbit fur muff, she held back the urge to pull it on the lewd brick layer who ‘wolf whistled’ at her as she passed him. Just a little longer and she could be rid of these skirts, over cinched corset and silly bustle. While she thought the tiny hat that matched her forest green day habit pleasant, it wasn’t enough to keep her in this dress. The maid had insisted that her, what she thought was a petite waist, too large be appealing and over laced the horrid garment. How was she supposed to do much of anything in this condition?

The cobbled stones gave way to grass and with that the woods leading up towards the mountain that loomed high over the city casting a dark shadow with the setting sun. She felt out of place in her somewhat finer attire, but if this assignment went wrong, it would be easier to disappear in the crowd dressed as they were instead of in more work appropriate clothing. No need to be accused of being a transvestite once more. Her gray green eyes scanned the horizon cautiously, she listened, thankful for the quieter nature of the place. Aside from the occasional rusting of leaves in the wind, she heard nothing out of the ordinary. She was apprehensive to light the small lantern hanging at her waist, lest she give away her position.

The night was still young and she couldn’t wait for it to end.

The night's air was cold, he could feel it blowing through the crevices of the cavern that he was dwelling in as he awoke. There was a geyser of dirt and debris that spawned from the ground around him as he arose from the ground, completely awakened and refreshed by the breeze. "This night will be wonderful. I can feel it." His voice was low and alluring, thought its affects wouldn't be felt from where he was since there was nobody in the room.

"It will be, my lord." Came a almost lusty voice from around the corner, and in came one of the women from the town below the mountain, taking slow steps towards him. She seemed almost in a dream state as she walked towards him, but Alexander knew that it was the allure of what he could give to her, the all-amassing powers of the vampire, that brought her here tonight. She wasn't one that he requested from the town. But he didn't mind. It was a free meal.

"Come to me, Cara Mia." He said in a rather low, slow drawl that rolled every consonant in the line. She happily obliged, her step doubling in pace until the bosom of her bodice was pressed against his chest tightly. "Take me, my lord." She whispered, in a rather husky voice, taken in by the powers of his voice alone.

Alexander's head tilted back, his fangs growing out, until his head came down, fangs biting down on her neck, and her scream of pain and ecstasy coming out, a bird at the entrance of the caved being scared off by the sound of it. Alexander drank heartily from her neck, the sweet taste of her blood pooling in his mount to be drained down his throat. She was spent soon enough, though he left enough that she wouldn't die, he never took enough to kill from the townsfolk. His fangs pulled out from her neck, and he let her slump unconscious to the ground as he headed out of the cave.

From the darkness of the cave, clothes formed on his body, dark pants and a shirt underneath a black cloak. He looked out over the forest at the mountain's foot, the moonlight pouncing off some wet leaves and foliage, shining down on his pale skin. Alexander de Vaux was always one that demanded attention from one's eyes, though he never stated it himself. His body was toned though now hidden by clothes, his face one of many soft angles that made many wonder whether he was of European royalty, changed by the Vampires. Though few knew.

A bird came towards him, holding a scroll, which he easily took off the birds foot, and unrolled, reading it in haste. He felt a bubbling anger form in his throat as he read it. A strange person coming into town, leaving into the forest? How disorganized. He quickly scrawled on the parchment that they know when to arrive if needed, then sent the bird on its way back to the town, before he scaled the mountain downward, heading into the forest.
