After so long of standing up against the bigger kingdom, they had finally fallen. Mikhail had tried to stay strong but there was only so much he could do. As the last of the royal family standing, and the sole leader of his people he had to make a choice. Let them be slaughtered or try and work out a deal that his peopled live.
It was not easy for the almost-king to make, he had never been crowned and therefor was no the king, but being the only prince left he had to take care of his people. He had surrendered, on the condition his people be allowed to live peacefully under their new king, even if it wasn’t him. He had traded his kingdom and his own freedom so his people wouldn’t have to die anymore.
It had been almost a week since then and h had been locked up in holding, waiting for the new king to decide what to do with him. He was tired and hungry and badly needed a bath, though that was a kindness he didn’t think he would see. So when guards came to get him he was expecting something else besides being scrubbed up and taken to the the throne room. His long dark hair had been braided to keep it out of his face now, coppered skin was clean now but he felt a bit itchy.. Though it could simply be the rope around his wrists.
His green eyes, specked with gold brown, scanned the room trying to figure out why he had been brought here but not really knowing… It was a few minutes before he was forced in front of the King. Made to get down on his knees and look up at the new ruler.

“Mikhail, after careful thought I have decided to adhere to our agreement. Your people will be taken in under our laws and protection.” The king said.
Mikhail nodded a little, finding it strange to be addressed simply by his name but he made no argument, his people were safe.
“Under the strict condition that you resign yourself to your new fate.” The King went on. Again Mikhail nodded, though he didn’t know what his fate would be. “You will be my son’s personal pet, a slave, and servant, for the rest of your life. Any whim he wishes You will abide by. So long as you are his, we will take care of your people.”
The kneeling ex-prince felt his heart drop into his stomach, but he swallowed, taking a breath before he spoke, softly and being sure not to sound the least bit threatening. “And.. after I am dead your Majesty?” He asked softly.
“If you die in servitude to my son, they will remain protected.” the King said, then waved a hand. Dismissing Mikhail before he could say another word.
Mikhail was taken by the arms and led swiftly down a maze of halls until he was stopped at a door, the guards knocking on it and then they waited..

A knock at the door? Oh what could it be this time, frankly Charles felt like he didn’t have any time for this. Thinking back he swore that he had instructed that no one was to disturb him, but then he remember something his father said about ‘expecting company’ today. Standing up from his desk, the prince growled softly and walked over to the door. How many times did he have to turn down these princess and prince’s that his father sent his way. The young man never saw the system of marriages and shallow romance that developed among his fellow royals to be anything more than a game. One that he himself wanted no part of, “Yes I am coming, but tell my father not send any more unexpected interruptions my way for the rest of the night….”

His words trailed off the instant that he opened the door and saw the two guards, not standing their escorting a fellow member of the nobility with respect. Instead they were holding onto the young man like a prisoner, sure he was cleaned up, but it was obvious that the other male was a prize from their recent victory in the war. Now to Charles this was even worse than anything he could have hoped for. At least with a fellow noble the prince could have an evening of light conversation and sent them back on their way. However he had a feeling that this was someone whom he would be stuck with for a very long period of time, wither he wanted to be or not. Sighing softly Charles without any hesitation reached forward towards the belt line of one of the guards and pulled out their knife. Swiftly cutting Mikhail’s bonds, Charles then grabbed the deposed prince by the shoulder and slung him into the room so to that he would end up falling to floor… none to gently.

“Dismissed… and I told you before, no more interruptions.” Slamming the door, in a huff Charles turned around and examined Mikhail with a gleam in his dark black eyes. Stalking over to the other male’s spot on the floor, the young man crouched down simply stared at the other through a curtain of long black hair. Pale fingers reached out to caress Mikhail’s skin, while the other hand twirled the knife at quick speeds. A Cheshire-esque grin crossed Charles feature for a moment before it faded away leaving a look of boredom in its place, “I do hope they didn’t hurt you too badly? If you would like some food I can have it brought up, though I would like a name first. I think I recognize you from one of the court balls a couple of years ago, but then again I never really got into attending those… spent more time leading the military or raising Deathclaw than wasting time with those frivolous parties.”

Mikhail was a little surprised when the prince opened the door, he knew he was going to the prince but he had never seen him this close in many years. He was even more shocked, when he was ripped from the guards and knocked to the ground. Unable to catch himself in time he fell hard. Pushing himself up and turning around trying to get to his feet again, only to stop and kneeling on the floor again. Feeling angry about being thrown around like that, but he merely balled his hands into fists and kept them at his sides. With the guards gone now he felt no less tense about this.

He watched Prince Charles turn to him and held very still, not because of the knife but because he knew if he moved he could lash out and then that would be it for his people. He sucked in a breath as he was touched but kept his face stone cold, not wanting to anger his new master. “No, they didn’t.” he muttered then took a breath to calm himself. “Pri…” he stopped, he wasn’t a prince anymore… “Mikhail. And I would like something to eat… Please.” he added at the end, it was a struggle, but he was not going to say he didn’t try for his people. The name of some beast not really all that interesting to him at the moment.

Ah well, this was no good at all. The poor guy was acting like a cornered animal ready to pounce. Charles wanted to let him out of his bonds, but he was slightly worried the other prince might try and kill him the instant that he did. The observant young man had managed to pick up on the start of the word his new companion tried to hide from him, so he was dealing with an overthrown prince… and quite a handsome one at that. Certainly the type of male he would have been too nervous to approach at the balls and parties he had mentioned earlier. Charles wondered for a moment if that was why this ‘Mikhail’ had been given to him as a gift. To drive him out of his shell somewhat, or tempt his desires towards pursuits that would produce more heirs. Whatever the reason, it was not a good enough to do this to another being, and so he approached Mikhail with the knife, ”Do hold still… ok dearie.” A playful laugh echoed from his lips just as he reached the other prince, but instead of harming him… Charles simply cut through the binds that held Mikhail... freeing him completely.

”There you go, I am sure you will be a bit more comfortable now. Whenever the food gets here Mikhail you can just help yourself. Oh and you can call me Charles, please just leave off prince or master… unless we are in public. I say that not for me, but for your own safety. I am sure you know how the nobility can sometimes be when those they consider of a ‘lower status’ act in such a manner.” Waiting until Mikhail seemed to be ready to stand, Charles would extend a hand to the other male, offering to help him up. A knock on the door would soon follow, walking over to it the prince would open it up for servants that came through bringing both an extra table, two chairs as well as enough food for a large supper for at least three people. What seemed like a waste of food though, was actually a habit of the price who preferred to not leave his room for long periods of time when studying and so what Mikhail was looking at was more than one meal. Waving his hand over it when they were alone again, Charles playfully smiled,

”Take as much as you want Prince Mikhail, I am sure you must be hungry and thirsty from your long trip here and there is much work to be done. My father can be a stubborn man so I am guess we are stuck together for the foreseeable future, and that just means you can help me with my studies and my military planning if you want. Though really I have little to force you to do anything you don’t want, and so consider this another privilege I offer you while we are in private. It is that you can basically have your freedom… within reason of course. Look… I am sorry this happened, but I do ask that you don’t take out on me a situation I didn’t ask for either.” He looked at Mikhail and waited for an answer from the other male, hoping that his new companion would understand the situation that they were both in.

Michail took a deep breath trying to calm himself, having to hold himself still as he let the prince look him over. When he was called ‘dearie’ he frowned deeply before allowing Prince Charles, to cut him loose. Rubbing his wrists, and the red sub marks from the ropes. Looking down at them and trying not to get angry again, he needed to keep himself in check… for his people…

He looked back up as Charles spoke to him, trying to pay attention, it was something he would need to get use too. “I understand.” he muttered, he knew, because he had seen it, and though he had never been much the type, he was aware how some nobility could react to a servant not addressing them properly. He pushed himself to his feet only after Charles had moved away. Earthy green eyes cast over all the food and the servants… the other servants.

Mikhail was surprised to hear himself addressed as ‘Prince’ again, it wasn’t something he expected to hear ever again. Moving over to the table but not sitting just yet. Listening to the other Prince. “I know next to nothing about military planning. There is a reason I did not send my people to slaughter.” he said. Other things he was sure he could ‘Help with’ but Military anything was not one of them. He sat down and let out a long breath. “I hold no ill intent towards you Prince Charles. My only intent here is to try and keep my people safe, and if that means I am to be among the lowest of your servants than I will do so. For my people.” he said, looking towards the food but not yet touching it.

”Oh well that sure is a pity, I thought most princes at least were thought something about knighthood in order to defend themselves and their kingdom if they needed to. I hope you don’t mind if I teach you as I draw up plans for my own kingdom, because I think it would be kind of fun to have someone to bounce ideas off of. Given that my father has given you to me to be my companion for life, then I guess there is no use not teaching you how to do my favorite activity so that we can do it together.” Charles seemed to be doing his best to act as pleasant as he could towards Prince Mikhail given that he understood the fact that it was his own military leadership which had put the young man in this position. He also realized that he would have to give the other a job to do in order to give the appearance of Mikhail being a servant, so that his brothers didn’t think the poor lad would be as useful in the game of court politics as he might actually be. However he knew one of his brothers had a pension for cornering and deflowering fresh meat like his new friend. The best thing that Charles could think of was to give him a job that would also give him a protector,

”I know you said you know nothing about military planning, but what about caring for animals, large horses and other mounts in particular? I am sure you were taught about horses when you were younger, but I want you to meet something that no other prince anywhere has the privilege to ride. See he is sitting right out here on the balcony, a loyal beast always ready to protect me and now you as well. Don’t worry I will teach you how to clean him the first few times and you can do it by yourself from then on. He will make sure no one bothers you or hurts you while you are my companion.” When Charles pulled back the curtain the shadow of a large creature was sitting on the balcony with red eyes staring in the window. Its shape was like the gryphons of old, and it was obvious that on the battlefield or anywhere else it was a force to be reckoned with. Charles then closed as he noticed the way that Mikhail continue to talk in such a melancholy manner and let out a sigh as he walked over to the other male and draped his arms around his shoulders in a loose hug,

”Listen Prince Mikhail and listen well. You are not a servant to me despite what my father has told you. For so long I have been the black sheep of my family and spent most of my focus on the military, leaving me a loner here in my own castle. Now I have you as a friend if you are willing to be that for me Mikhail and in exchange I will make your stay here as comfortable as possible. That includes having your ‘needs’ attended to by my servants should that be what you wish. I don’t know what your desires are, but like food and drink they shall be provided for.” As he spoke Charles hand had slipped down to Mikhail’s crotch to slowly and gently stroke over the other male, coaxing him to life. The strange thing was that the prince himself was blushing up a storm as he did this brazen act, making it obvious that sexual things were a bit foreign to Charles or at the very least was something that made him nervous. Pulling his hand back so he could simply hug Mikhail the male buried his head in his companions shoulder, ”Whatever your impressions of your stay I want you to set them aside for now, and assume that it is to be a happy one. I know that may be hard to do, but please try if you can Prince Mikhail.”
