Beasts and Ruins (Don Voltonus and Vigilant Thorne)

"I'll assume that's always." He teased back.

Back in the ruins, Sylvia had returned to the split in the path, taking care on the unstable old constructions. "I wonder what teasures await..." She smirked, heading down the other passageway.

She moved close, clearing her throat and spitting a wad of luminous saliva into the hole in an attempt to brighten it and see inside.

A pneumatic hiss sounded from within the wall. A loud grinding noise echoed throughout the tunnel as a slab of stone slid back, retracting into the wall. A large brick pathway was hidden behind the wall, leading into the darkness. A barely perceptible hissing noise sounded from the darkness, they almost sounded like words, but we're incomprehensible.

She grinned, stepping into the passageway, heading deeper and deeper into into the darkness. "Hello? Anybody there?"

A loud click followed by the grinding of stone sounded as she crossed the threshhold. The stone slid into place behind her, sealing her way back.

The hissing grew louder. It seemed to come from all directions, but was muted, and incomprehensible. It almost sounded as if the words were slithering their way through her mind, twisting and turning through her thoughts.

She shook her head, licking her palm and holding her hand out like a flashlight, looking around as she continued deeper.
