The minute Alex's alarm clock went off that morning, he felt a sense of foreboding settle in the pit of his stomach. At first, he thought it was the normal feeling of having to get up early for the first day of school after winter break but when it didn't subside after getting breakfast from his mom and helping get his little brother dressed for preschool, he knew it was going to be a bad day. He got out of his mother's van and waved to her, before leaning back to wave goodbye to his little brother, and reminded him quietly, "Don't show off in school, okay?"

His mother snorted slightly before she looked at her oldest child, "The same to you. I saw you teaching him last night--he isn't old enough to understand."

Alex gave a sheepish grin before he slammed the door shut and jogged up the steps of the school building, careful to dodge the snow and ice that was still piled up high around the walkway and on the steps. As he stepped in side, he took off his beanie and ruffled his red hair to get rid of his bad case of hat hair as the headed towards his usual spot to sit while he waited for everyone else to make it to school. He dropped his backpack on the ground next to his bench and closed his eyes for a moment before reaching back down and pulling out a notebook from his backpack; it looked as if it had seen better days, and had many sticky-notes and extra papers sticking out of it that it looked shabby. He hummed under his breath as he flipped through it, looking for a particular spell he had been working on for the last couple of days. It was nothing important, just a spell to make his shoes water resistant because he was tired to having to put them on the heater everyday after he walked home from school.

He glanced at everything he had written so far and wondered if he had made any mistakes on any of his research, and calculations. Magic, unlike what most people believed, was as much about math as nature and innate talent. He had been born blessed with the innate talent but struggled with the mathematics part of it, and ended up having to rely on his parents spell books rather than more personalized spells that would be easier to him. His green eyes were focused on his texts that he didn't notice when someone dropped down beside him, until an arm was wrapped around his shoulders and someone giggled, "Alex, you can't be doing homework all ready!"

The red-headed teen looked at his friend frantically before he put away his notebook, stuffing it back into his backpack and hoped that she hadn't read any of it. "Ha...nah, just having some fun, Mel."

His best friend, Melanee Swezer, rolled her eyes behind her glasses before she fixed her hair, pulling it back into a messy pony-tail and started to fill Alex in on the newest gossip and her winter break. It made him smile, especially since they had spent most of winter break in different states. Melanee continued brightly for several minutes and the halls started to fill with more people before she finally gasped, "I forgot to tell you! Mom said there was a new boy coming."

"...so?" Alex asked hesitantly, it wasn't as if he particularly cared.

"Well," she started before she leaned forward and whispered "he might be like you!"

He felt himself pale, and his heart come to a painful stop in his chest at her words, "L-like me?"

Melanee frowned before she continued, "You know...he might like...boys."

"Mel," he said slowly, his breathing coming back to normal slowly, "I'm not gay."

"Of course you are! Why else would you still just be my best friend? Or better yet, why haven't you had a girlfriend--it's not like you are ugly."

Alex sighed and leaned against the wall; he had been right, today was going to be a bad day.

His name was Jack the Magnificent. Jack the Great, Jack-he-who-destroys-worlds. Or rather, that was what Jack thought he was. It was better than Jack the bed wetter, or Jack the klutz.

Truth was Jack wasn't that great, not like his brothers and sisters. Jack lacked the raw power that was needed for most magic undertakings. He was the odd sheep of the family, the black little fur ball, the runt. His family had a long history of being magic users, both sides. His parents married because they were compatible magically. Not for love.

When he was a baby he got checked, to make sure he had magic at all. He barely passed. Had he lacked magic, he would be sent off, to live his life as a normal person. Jack was given the name Jack because he was normal. It sucked.

To make up for his shortcomings, he learned about the mechanics of spell casting. He learned how to use his magic to their utmost potential.

Jack walked to school, slowly, yawning. He hated transferring to new schools. That meant all his hard work, all the magic workings he laid down in the school had to be redone. Great, he'll be the school nobody until he can set up the glamour spell.

He ran his hand through his blond hair, the black roots starting to show. Jack wasn't dumb enough to cast spells on himself, that was just asking for trouble. He didn't have enough magic in his tanks to use casual spells, such as mending things or changing his hair color. Instead he just weaved spells on top of spells, linking them to specific grounded objects.

Why change himself if he could change how people view him?

He tugged his necklace, activating a minor spell. One that makes him quite cute and desirable. As he ascended the stairs, he smirked to himself, watching as students turned, entranced easily. Later he'll have one where even the teachers will see him in a different light.

Even if he wore rags, his spells will make him look like a King.

Melanee, he decided was going to persist in her line of thought no matter what he said to persuade her otherwise. The truth of it was, Alex didn't really have any desire to 'date' as it were, it was too dangerous especially with his little brother just learning how to do basic spells. That would be a fun one to explain to his hypothetical date, 'Oh? Ryan? Nah, he always grows a tail in the middle of dinner.' He sighed and ran his fingers through his hair, tugging at the blood-red strands as he closed his eyes and prayed for Melanee to stop talking. He wouldn't use a spell on her; he loved her too much to do that, but right now it was so tempting just to reach out and put a hand on her shoulder and whisper a quiet word to have silence. When the blessed pause came, he looked at Mel who was staring at him, her face drawn into a tight little frown. He hadn't said any of that out loud, had he? "What?"

She said, "Nothing. I just thought...well, you seem so lonely. I'm the only friend you have."

"You're the only person who will put up with me," he insisted calmly, as he pulled out a notebook, a normal one this time, and started to scribble in it, "Besides, if I started to date you would be all alone."

The silence that came from her explained it all and he glanced at her, one of his eyebrows arched, "You got a boyfriend? And you didn't tell me?"

Melanee coughed, "Well...he isn't a he, it's more like a she."

The redheaded witch paused for a moment before he looked at Mel. It wasn't that he was believed in stereotypes, he was a walking contradiction to the belief that witches were old hags who rode on broomsticks, but Mel was just too pretty to be lesbian. He tilted his head to the side, "I'm happy for you? Just tell her if she hurts you, she'll have to deal with me."

And, he added to himself, a shit load of magic heading her way. No one was allowed to hurt his friend, and he would break his promise to his grandfather and father not to use magic to harm normals or abuse them in any way. Everyone in his family or as far back as their records went had magic roots--even the "normals" who married into the family had been out-casted from magical families and had the gene in them.

Mel nodded, a little smile on her face before she pointed down the hall-way, "Is that...wow! He looks good. You'd look good with him--dark hair and red hair!"

Alex glanced down the hall way and frowned slightly; what on earth was she talking about? The other teen walking down the hall wasn't that attractive, his hair needed to be touched up and his clothes patched a little. But he wasn't a stunner like Mel seemed to think, and, he glanced around, like everyone else seemed to think. "He...looks fine, I suppose."

Jack tugged at his messenger bag, smiling at his adoring fans.

His long sleeved T-Shirt, a bright offensive neon green color, the only clean one he had didn't seem offending at all anymore. His jeans were dark, nearly covering the tops of his sneakers. He waved at a few girls, smiling, watching as they blushed.

Once in a while, when he's kind, he'll let a few nerds have their day and let a few morons understand what it means to be hated. It gives people perspective, a mile in another person's shoes.

He walked past the humans, gaze shifting from person to person.

Jack's sneakers squeaked against the linoleum. "Hey." He nodded. "Hey." It was an endless stream of 'hey' and 'yo'. Well that is to be expected.

The school layout wasn't too bad, there were some places where he can set up some overarching spell layouts, some warding even boosters. Not to mention, places where he can store up on some ambient magic. The library was a good place, even certain class rooms where imaginations run wild.

His brand of magic, it was all about perception, how ones sees reality.

And despite how banal school was, sometimes he can harvest some pretty potent magic that lingers in the air, left behind in some dream.

Alex eyes lingered on the offensive green shirt that the other young man was sporting before he looked down at his own black shirt to give his eyes a rest before he looked at Melanee who seemed enthralled by the new-comer. He wrinkled his nose slightly and leaned over and asked softly, "What would your girlfriend think?" He put a hand on her shoulder and got a flash of what she saw and pulled back sharply before he frowned.

Melanee seemed to come out of it after a moment, and she blinked several times before focusing on Alex again, "Hmm? What was I saying?"

Alex didn't say anything as he kept his eyes on the newcomer; there were ways to know another witch from a normal. Some would say it was the way they carried themselves, but it was really their presence. Witches seemed to fill the room more completely and had more influence over normals even on accident. But this, he felt was intentional magic, which unnerved him. To use magic so freely and for such a paltry reason it seemed, was obnoxious and dangerous--what if the spell snapped? Or faded and everyone saw the truth?

It wouldn't end well at all.

Alex's abilities fell somewhere between the common spell-casting and perception, that is to see snippets of the future or what others were seeing. It came in handy more often than not when he brushed up against someone during a test and "saw" all their answers, but other times it could be a pain. He glanced at Melanee who and taken off to greet another group of her friends before he whispered a soft spell and smirked a little. It was a mean prank, but it would get the point across--a serpent in one's backpack would be a sign indeed. Hopefully, this interloper would remember his history. After all, a serpent was the sign that you crossed into another witch's territory.

He felt it first, making him turn his head in the general direction. It was like a 'hello' to his system, to his senses.

Jack blinked, nose crinkled. There was another witch here. He could feel it, lying on top of his spell, a smaller one. It felt like a general spell, something more along a making. Almost like a summoning but there was nothing 'coming' just...

It was then that he heard it, a soft 'hisss' sound. In the loud hallway, most sound gets lost but those that are magical, made from magic, are magic....he can hear them, feel them. Since he had little magic of his own, it was easy to track other people's magic. His own did not pollute or fog his gaze. What can be invisible to others are visible to him.

He reached out, quite ready to twist the spell, to break it only to clap his hands over his ears as a sudden loud shrill scream broke his concentration. The snake had escaped his bag, it's tiny forked tongue tasting the air as it started to pull the rest of it's body out.

One of the other guys, a tall boy with a football jersey grabbed his bag and very bravely tossed Jack's bag into the trashcan. It was all very quick and very jarring. He couldn't react and the spells he usually laced into his bag for protection were no match for an adrenaline filled jock. To the boy it might felt like pinpricks on his skin, as if he got bitten.

Jack stared blankly, aghast.

The kids in the hallway stared as well before bursting into congratulations for the athlete. The football player took in stride, blushing, drawing away the attentions of the others from Jack. It seems the kid in the bright neon shirt was forgotten, the minor spell held no sway over true excitement.

He took solace in the ambient magic that was absorbed by his bag and his ring. At least something came out of that.

Alex watched the other witch, his eyes curious but cool. This was his school and he was not in a mood to share it, not with someone who was enthralling those he knew to like him. When one of the athlete's "saved" the day, he frowned slightly before he shrugged. The message had been given and that was all he needed to do, if all went well, the other witch would understand that this wasn't his playground to do with what he wanted. The redhead stood up and moved passed the group congratulating the football player, and chuckled a little to himself, everyone always liked a hero no matter how big the problem or small. At least the first day back at school was exciting...still the sense that he might have made the wrong mistake chewed at the back of his mind as he wondered towards his classroom as the bell rang.

He wasn't short, nor was he very tall. He was roughly 5'11" but in the rush for everyone to get to their classes he was usually forced against a wall or locker until the mad rush was over and he would sprint to his class. It wasn't the best situation, but it was better than fighting the crowds as they moved like a herd.

He settled against the lockers and watched everyone walk passed him, occasionally waving to people he knew from other classes or had worked with on the various clubs he joined for fun. His eyes kept straying back to the new witch's bright shirt, if it had been a few shades darker, Alex might have liked it because it would have reminded him of his eyes. Eyes that every witch in his family line had--no matter what the picture was, everyone always had green eyes. Except for his little brother who had one green eye, and one blue eye, a sign of good luck and perhaps of strong magic.

Jack got bumped to the side, despite being tall he was built like a stork, all elbows and knees. He was six feet five, his fake blond hair make him an inch taller. He would be good for sports if it weren't for the fact he wasn't athletic.

He got to the trash can, pulling his bag out, glowering at the snake that was coiled next to it. Jack grunted, grabbing his messenger bag, running his hand counter clockwise, activiting a cleaning spell. Most of the gunk, some sugar, dirt, some weird brown stuff fell back into the trash can as if repelled. The milk and soda stains stayed. Great, that required more cleaning.

So, another witch here?

Cheh, useless posturing. Jack made a sign, his hand still in the trash so no one can see. The snake made a popping sound before growing fur. Now it was a furry ball with eyes and a mouth. Well, it wasn't perfect but that's what you get with spells that are prepared or researched.

He grabbed the furry ball, tempted not to squeeze. It was still a living thing.

Jack waited for the other students to leave for classes, spotting the other witch. With his sight, he can trace spells and the owner of the magic. They looked like strings to him, brightly colored strings. He should've noticed, he was far too careless. He started for the other boy, nearing him, leaning against the lockers.

"Hey." He looked down at the other kid. "Zup?"

Would the other kid take it further? Or will it end now?

Alex looked up at the other witch, and frowned a little before he shrugged, "Not much." He didn't offer his hand or anything and leaned around Jack to see if the hall had thinned enough, it was almost there another thirty or forty seconds and he would be able to dash to class without getting stampeded. He yawned a little and looked at Jack's shirt, his face twisting into a grimace, "You're shirt is very loud."

Alex rested one of his hands against the lockers and pushed off slightly to stand up straighter, but was still small compared to the other teen. He was more lithe than stocky, his body toned with muscle from swimming, running, and yoga. Being shorter made him feel uncomfortable, especially since it gave the other boy the ability to tower over him which, if he had been anyone else, would have been intimidating. But any witch that needed to cast an enthrallment their first day in a new place, obviously wasn't someone who knew out to socialize very well.

He gave a pleasant smile, "Do you need help or something getting to your classroom?" He readjusted his backpack as he started walking down the hall, and paused and looked up and down it. It was mostly clear and he spoke softly, but carefully, just loud enough to be heard, "Don't use your magic here so frivolously. It won't be a snake next time."

In his eyes, the other witch was rather 'loud'. It made Jack feel small in comparison. What good was height when the other person can cast a bigger fireball than you? Most witches had to cast a spell, to give their eyes the ability to See and that burned a lot of power. It almost wasn't worth it since most troubles can be dealt with some judicial lightning or fireball. Jack's eyes, a muddy brown, they looked normal even insignificant but they can see magic. They can see 'normal' people who have a little bit of magic, see where magic is laid. True it isn't as effective as those who can see into the past or into other people's heads, but it was his ability.

He narrowed his eyes at the other boy's words. "What are you going to police me on that?" He asked, his voice low. "This place your territory?"

The furry ball squeaked in his hand, making Jack shove it in his bag before he purposely towered over the smaller witch. "What, am I your subject or something?" He asked in a demanding way. "You think you have authority over me?"

How laughable and how annoying. That was one of the things he hated, rules. When witches carved out their own territory, much like vampires and werewolves and all that dumb territorial bullshit it just made him pissed off. It was stupid having invisible lines telling witches where they can go, what they can do.

Alex's smile turned slightly chilly as he looked over the trespasser coolly; he had height, perhaps, but Alex didn't know what his power was and how much he had in reserves. That wasn't his specialty, and why would that matter to him? It was however was the first to cast the spell that survived in the end. But he wasn't one to fight, despite his words. He preferred just to make a single threat, and let it slide. It usually worked for him in the past, but he had a feeling that with this witch it wouldn't. He watched him shove the furry ball into his bag and raised a curious eyebrow at it--why on earth would he have a squeak toy?

When he was towered over, Alex glared up at the other, "If you want to survive? Yes. This is my family's town--you fuck it up for us, and I will hunt you down to your very last kin and kill you. Hunters may be few and far between, but even the most stupid of them would notice you're little...spells."

Alex turned his back on Jack, a slight and a statement that he had no fear of the other attacking him, "You should get to class too. You wouldn't want to be late...especially if one of your spells were to snap while you were trying to smooth over a teacher." The smaller green eyed teen turned into room 115, and turned to smirk at Jack one last time before he closed the door behind him. Alex was possessive of his territory; he was the next heir for his family line and he wanted everything to be perfect for when his father handed him the mantel of head of the family. It was an honor and a great responsibility, one that he was excited for--when he turned 19, which was only a few short years away, he would be able to care for his family. This was important to him because his father, who still took care of him, had left his mother for a younger witch, one who had all ready given him a pair of twins.

He had to do it to restore honor to their branch of the family.

Jack made a dismissive sound. Was the other witch so blind to his own magic that he didn't even notice his spell? Sure his own spell twisted it, changed it but the base layer was the other boy's magic.

Oh wait, not that many witches are that intelligent.

"Green eyes?" He mused, after being glared up at. "Ah, that family."

He just watched as the other witch left before going to his class, sliding in right before the bell rang.

Well, well..well...hmph.

Jack closed his eyes, relaxing in his chair, slouching as he listened to the teacher drone. He had his notebook open, writing notes down. So, this town...was this families territory? How amusing.

He took a strand of magic from the squeaky/fuzzy/snake and started to mess around with it. To normal people it would look like he's actively studying and paying attention. They couldn't see the magic he was working on.

He didn't like threats. Breaking another witch's spell was a threat as was to kill another's kin. Witch wars are damaging, it makes hunters look...and hunt. That would be no good but as long as he wasn't being hunted then it wouldn't matter. Jack toyed with that idea, knotting the thread of magic before letting it settle back into the squeaky/fuzzy/snake thing.

For now he will wait.

And watch.

If the other witch tries to act bigger than he is, well, at least he'll have a good reason to practice his magic in battle.

Alex attempted to pay attention in his classes but the niggling feeling of the other witch's presence kept him on edge. It was never like this when family was over, he didn't even have this much of an issue with his father's new wife. She, sadly, was family but he didn't have to treat her as such. She was an annoyance that he knew everything about but this new kid, this Jack, from what he had heard from the gossips while they sat in class, was something he wasn't sure of. And if there was one witch, there were more. They preferred to stay in family groups; it always meant that there was someone there to watch your back if something went wrong. He never wanted to be a loner, ever; to be a loner usually meant that you had done something unspeakable to your kin and had to be banished. It was a black mark that would never go away--you couldn't get married, you couldn't join celebration, it was total exile.

Alex slouched in his seat and looked out the window as he waited for the next bell to ring. He didn't see the point of coming to school when he could learn more important things at home. The only highlight of it was lunch; he wasn't one to dis his mother but his dad had done all the cooking when they had lived together still and frankly, there was a reason. She tried her hardest, but her cooking skills tended to be limited to boiling water and picking up the phone and ordering out. There was only so much take-out one could eat before they started to hate it. And he had had two years of it all ready; he wondered if Ryan even remembered what real food was on occasion.

Melanee leaned over in the middle of class and handed him a note. He glanced at the teacher before opening and reading it, 'Saw you talking to him, looked like you were close?'

'Just saying hi, he needed directions to his class,' he scribbled quickly and waited until the teachers back was turned before he handed it back to her. She frowned after she read it and rolled her eyes at him, and he smiled back. Honestly, it was odd that Melanee thought that they would make a good couple based on looks alone. He shrugged, at least, he thought, he wouldn't have to explain his heritage.

Now if only lunch would come around...

Jack got out of class a few minutes early, his brother had called the office. Seems like he forgot his lunch.

He took this as an opportunity to trick the other witch. He got out into the hallway before taking out a bouncy ball and rolling it onto the floor. It looked harmless but the spell that was embedded in it made the floor very very slippery. It was as if the janitor over waxed.

He went to the office, to grab his lunch and then got a good view of the fun as the bell rang, releasing the unsuspecting students. He timed it for the other witch's magic. It won't activate until he steps onto the floor.

Anyone else was just collateral damage.

When the bell rang, Alex couldn't leave the room fast enough and carried his backpack in one hand as he stuffed his notebook into it, and spoke with one of his classmates, "I really don't think the homework is that hard."

"--Hey, look at this!" A shout came down the hall and Alex turned his head that way before he stepped on the floor, and started to walk. His wobbled and slid on the floor, before he fell hard on his butt and sat in the middle of the hall, trying not to end up stampeded by all the other students, many who seemed to be having trouble keeping their balance and some stumbled into others, pushing them down to the ground.

When someone else fell and cussed out the janitors, Alex felt the urge to do the same, but. Slowly he inched over towards the lockers, watching out for heavy feet or high-highs before bracing himself and standing up slowly. His legs slipped a little but he held onto the locker and started to walk down the hall, clinging to the lockers as his feet seemed to betray him with almost every step. Alex looked around and frowned; this wasn't right. The janitors only waxed on Fridays and it was only Monday. Was it Jack?

His eyes narrowed and he cursed under his breath, before he continued his slow inching towards the office. He needed to speak with them about changing his classes to something more interesting for him.

Jack sniggered, taking a bite out of his lunch. He can't look too pleased or else he would get blamed.

The principal started to call in names, known delinquents who done it before or wanted to. It was all in the plan. In order to not have hunters come chasing, his family specialized in coincidental magic. They were magicians, slight of hand....if it could happen, it might.

Sometimes of course it can't be avoided and fireballs get thrown but, most of the time it was the little things that work best.

He was in the waiting room, eating his lunch, watching as kids got called in. He just smiled to himself, enjoying his work. This might not be a bad year at all.

Alex was fairly sore that his bottom was going to be bruised by the time he made it to the office, it was remarkable how many times he had fallen even while holding onto the wall or the lockers, and occasionally grasping a trashcan to stand upright. By the time he made it to the carpeted office waiting room, he wanted to drop to the ground and kiss it, despite the many years of dirty sneakers stomping on it. He took a moment to compose himself but stopped short at seeing Jack sitting there and eating. He took a deep breath and forced his suspicions aside before he sat down next to the taller teen and set his backpack on the floor next to him. He shifted slightly in the chair trying to get comfortable in the hard plastic before he yawned a little and cast a glance towards Jack.

He asked softly and almost pleasantly, as if his ass wasn't hurting him from repeatedly falling on it, "You did it, didn't you?"

His fingers drummed against the plastic armrest as he waited for an answer from the new witch. His green eyes were annoyed as he watched the common miscreants of the school get called in one and a time as the principal tried to find out exactly who created the commotion in the halls. He smiled towards the secretary, who gave him a look before he sighed; it really was one of those days. And, he thought tiredly, at this rate, he wouldn't get his lunch...he glanced a little longingly towards everyone's lunches as they nibbled on it.

Jack looked over to the other witch, beaming. "How was your day? Your ass must feel awful." His made sure his voice was low so no one else overheard.

He opened his bottle of soda, drinking it. The cold soda brought such relief to his parched throat.

He noticed the other witch look at the other kid's lunch and made sure to made a loud noise every time he bit into his sandwich. Ah, lunch. Another way of revenge.

Alex glared at Jack, before he gave a strained smile, "Not as bad as yours will feel when I'm through with you." He kept his voice soft and pleasant, almost as if he weren't making threats. He traced a symbol slowly onto the armrest before he caught himself and closed his eyes and took a deep breath. His stomach rumbled slightly and he clenched his teeth everytime Jack crunched happily into his sandwhich and slurped down his cola.

He leaned against the armrest and rested his chin in his palm before he flicked a finger up just as Jack took another slurp of his cola and caused it to bubble over and spill all down his obnoxious green shirt. Alex's smile became less strained as he all but purred softly, "You should be more careful. One would think you'd be raised by wolves."

Jack rolled his eyes at the other witch's statement, continuing to torture him with food. Then he got splashed with his own cola. He nearly swore, grabbing napkins and dabbing his neon green shirt. The stain made it look like a massive sweat stain. It was sticky. He took his dirty shirt off, wiping the rest of the cola off his chest.

He was thin, pale and hairless. It sucked. He hadn't even hit the rest of his growth spurt. Not to mention he didn't have a spare shirt or jacket. Oh well.

"Nice try." He said between gritted teeth, finishing the rest of drink before tossing it in the trash. "And, I don't swing that way."

He fished out a chocolate cookie, taking a massive bite out of it.

Alex raised an eyebrow at the Jack's thin pale frame and rolled his eyes as a few people looked towards the taller boy. In comparison Alex looked positively tan, even though he was only a few shades darker than Jack. When the other boy didn't put on another shirt, he rolled his eyes before pausing at his final comment. What did he mean that he didn't swing that way? He glanced down at himself for a moment, was there something about him that seemed to scream 'gay'? He hesitated before he smirked and leaned closer and teased, "Oh?"

Perhaps there was something vicious about it, but it amused him to no need that something as simple as sexual orientation could be used against Jack. Alex wasn't sure if he was gay or not, and it really didn't matter to him at all what other's thought since apparently they already did think so. He waited for Jack to take a massive bite of his cookie before he pressed his lips against Jacks, "Don't be so sure that you don't, Jack."

Jack's reaction was to spit his half chewed cookie all over the other witch. "What the hell?" He demanded. "Get off you freak!"

He wiped his mouth with his hand, shuddering. The other boy's lips against his terrified him. Kissing a guy? Ridiculous. He didn't like kissing boys. Even if it was his first kiss, he was sure it wasn't the reaction he wanted. His lips still tingled, some weird electrical feeling. It must be some magical backlash or an interaction of their different magics.

Alex pulled back sharply as he got covered in half-chewed cookie and he wiped it off with the back of his hand and shook his head. He looked at Jack, the epitome of innocence before he asked, "Freak? Now that's a little harsh."

A few of the other male teens in the room looked at Alex in disgust or half-horrified curiosity--maybe all the rumors about him being "that way" were true. It certainly explained a lot, but made the lot of them who had shared the locker room with him distinctly uncomfortable--what if he had been eying them in the shower or when they had been changing. He glanced back to Jack, slightly amused that he found the perfect way to get back at the other teen for causing him to look like a clutz in front of everyone.

His lips felt a little off, but he ignored it as he pouted, "Especially after this summer when you told me you were coming here for me." He made sure to speak loud enough that everyone in the room could hear him, "You told me you loved me!"

"You little shit." Jack swore loudly. "I did not come here for you!"

He came here after his last school had a huge riot that burned down half of the buildings. It wasn't his fault and he had to go somewhere else cause he had to get his education somewhere.

At the 'love' part of his sentence, Jack tackled the other witch. He knew he wasn't strong but he was going to take his insults lying down. Retrospectively, there was another way to end this debacle but he was thinking correctly or calmly.

Alex pouted even more as Jack swore at him as his eyes danced with mirth at how easy it was to rile up the other witch with such teases. As he watched the other boys in the room share uncomfortable glances and a few pull out their cell-phones to quickly txt to their friends and the rest of the school of the new development. After all, the gossips who had thought that Alex was gay would have a field day with the news and those girls who liked the red-headed calm and respectful teen would be heartbroken. "But...that's what you told me!"

His green eyes widened when Jack leaped at him and knocked him out of his chair onto the ground. He gasped as the air was knocked out of him and he stared up slightly dazed at Jack before he spoke softly, more breathy than he intended, "Not in public baby, you know I'm shy."

He rested a hand on Jack's shoulder and shoved hard as he regained his breath and out of the corner of his eye, he saw the secretary started to yell for the principal.
