’Congradulations and welcome!

SciTech is the leader of the biogenetic research and genetic donor in the entire galaxy. Our president and CEO, Alice Waters lead the way into-’
the little holoprojector continued to babble on about the exciting opportunities that were being offered to a ‘select’ group of researchers. While this was all fine and good, there was something rather unsettling; Anna had no prior experience in biogenetics, gene splicing or even cloning and yet she had somehow allied and they had selected her? It was a strange sort of situation, one she had tried to remedy on a number of occasions but it always ended the same bloody way.

’Thank you for contacting SciTech! Unfortunately all representatives are busy assisting other clientele. We value your input and we are deeply sorry we could not speak with you, if you’d like to leave a message please say ‘message’. If you are calling in regards to your recent employment with SciTech, we will be happy to call you back within twenty-four hours-’, they never got back to her and before she knew it she was sitting in a white, painfully bright sterile room, draped in nothing but a paper hospital gown. “So you’re blood work came back fine. You’re a healthy twenty-six year old female with no prior medical conditions, excellent bill of health and no previous history of substance abuse or broken bones.” The young woman looked up from her hands and forced a smile, her eyes burning with the same question she had been wondering now for the past two week; why in the world had they hired her.

“Excuse me-” she murmured, her voice little more than a whisper, “You have questions?” The question the doctor asked seemed a little redundant, yes she had fucking questions! “I’m no bio-engineer and I have no experience with-” she had started to list off the lack of qualifications she had only to be waved off by a gloved hand, “We aren’t looking for bioengineers or even lab assistance,” if they weren’t, what the hell were they looking for?
“We hired you and a small group of other women to conduct field experiences, collect samples and return with said samples. The job we’re asking you to do is so simple that even a primate can do it.” If it was that easy, then why did they need such an invasive, thorough medical examination? “We have to ensure that all candidates who applied for the position will not be bringing any foreign contaminants to environment.” Were her questions that obvious that whenever the doctor looked up from the paperwork he busily shuffled through he was able to read every question that popped up into her mind.

There was a pregnant pause between the two; the doctor busily shuffled through his papers while Anna set there, twiddling her fingers anxiously. Was she suppose to say more or, “Now,”sighed the doctor, placing the papers down, his eyes immediately drawn to her downturned face, “Because you will be going off world into uncharted space, I will need to administer several different vaccinations, side effects will vary but all necessary to ensure that nothing goes amiss.” Anna shivered at the thought of being a human pin cushion but she knew it was for her own good and sighed, even as her slender arms came to wrap around her triple D bust, “C-Can we get this over with sooner rather than later.” The gray haired man grinned for the first time since meeting his patient, “Of course.” There was something rather sinister about the way her looked at her and the way he stood and moved across the room, collecting bottle after bottle.

It had taken almost a full twenty minutes before all the shots had been administered and the young woman, with her long ebony haired, felt worse than a pincushion, instead she felt like she had been run over by a Mactruck, chewed up by some monster and then spat back out as a gooey puddle. “All done,” the doctor cooed after he withdrew the last needle from her shoulder, drawing Anna’s gaze back up to him, “Good, I was about to ask how much more torture you intended on inflicting,” the elder man grinned again, instantly making the young woman shiver, damn that grin was terrifying. Turning away from him, Anna pulled herself to her feet and padded barefoot over to the clothes hamper the nurse who had collected the girl from the dull waiting room, had instructing the young woman to deposit her clothes. “I am instructed to inform you that you are to report to shuttlebay six for immediate departure, Captain Riker has some paperwork for you to fill out before you and the other six women are shipped off world.” The dark haired beauty was taken a little aback by how quickly this entire process of hiring her had taken. Wouldn’t they let her say goodbye to any friends of family she still had? “SciTech apologies for any inconvenience there might be for not allowing our employees to bid their family and loved ones farwell. While we are the leader in all things genetics based, SciTech does not like distractions.” The lies at this point were endless; the true reason why SciTech wanted no outside contact was because they were far too busy ‘erasing’ all traces of their ‘employees’ identities. Who was going to miss someone who never existed in the first place? No one, that’s who.

Anna was a little reluctant at first with the thought of not saying anything to Jack, her long time childhood friend and often lover as well as Collette, a little girl that Anna had adopted off the streets. Surly they would understand, “All compensation you make will be given to those you designate within your contract you sign with Captain Riker.” There he went again, explaining things that Anna had never even asked, at this point she wondered if the creepy doctors was psychic.

After she had redressed, now within a form fitted space suit that left little room to breath or even function in, the young woman reported to Shuttle Bay Six as the doctor had instructed. The bay was quiet, eerily so at this point, and it wasn’t hard to find this ‘Captain Riker’. He was a tall, stone faced man with no hair and a large scar that ran from the top of his left eyebrow all the way down to his neck. ’What the fuck happened to you?’, it was a fair question but nothing that Anna could ask, “Ms. Anna SinClair I presume?” His voice was just as rough as his face, “Y-yes sir,” the young woman answered, coming to a stop in front of the military man, “You were the last to arrive and all other candidates have been strapped in for the voyage to Talsaviss, before you are boarded” he growled, thrusting out a clipboard with a mountain of papers attached to it, “You are instructed to read, sign and complete all paperwork before I can allow you on my vessel. If you have any questions, ensure you ask because once you have signed, there is nothing god or anyone can do to break that contact. It is binding until your five years are up or you die.” Anna looked up from the paperwork she had collected and gawked at the stiff man, “F-Five years, no one ever said anything about-”
“That is incorrect ma’am as it was detailed within the welcome packet you received upon your hiring.” Anna cringed inwardly as she had completely spaced on reading the paperwork; whoops! With a reluctant sigh, the young woman began to scribble her name in all areas that required her John Hancock, letting her eyes skim over some of the words only stopping when something really big caught her eyes. “U-Um, excuse me but in Section forty-five paragraph a, it mentions something about ‘intended contamination of oneself’, what the bloody hell does that mean?” Riker looked down at the young woman, eye narrowing. “It means exactly what it says.” This answer was a little evasive, what the hell was he hiding? “I gathered that Sir but-”
“Sign the papers Ms. SinClair, this shuttle is already five minutes late for departure and I am not keen on the idea of your wasting more of my precious time.” Anna rolled her eyes and signed the remainder of the paperwork, shoving the clipboard and paperwork back into Riker’s chest, “There,” she hissed, stomping off into the shuttle.

The sight in front of her was something straight out of a movie; all around her were women, six of them to be exact, all appearing to be human, dressed exactly as she was. They ranged in all ages, builds and ethnicities and all quieted when she entered the shuttle. Some went back to their mindless chattering, others continued to stare but only one smiled warmly, “There is a free seat beside me,” the woman beamed, patting an empty seat to her right. Anna didn’t hesitate, quickly crossing the distance between where she had stood and the available seat. She worked herself into the straps, “I’m Elizabeth, Liz for short. I guess you and I will be work together for the next five years hm?” Anna looked up only after she had strapped herself in and the door to the shuttle were closing slowly. The dark haired woman looked over the blonde, “I’m Anna,” she returned, leaning back in her seat she appraised Liz, quirking an eyebrow curiously, “A-Are you pregnant?” It seemed like a rather rude thing to ask someone right off the bat but at this point Anna had no filter. Liz turned bright pink and placed a loving hand against her swollen abdomen, “Yes I am, silly isn’t it?” Anna shrugged and offered a weak smile, “It’s just strange that they would hire one someone who-” instantly she fell silent, realizing exactly what she was saying, “I-I’m s-so sorry-” Liz shook her head and sighed, “No it’s alright,” she smiled still, patting her rounded belly, “My husband left me for someone younger, said he also didn’t want children and that this was somehow my fault. SciTech sort of popped up out of the blue and well, here I am, a researcher and five months along. Who woulda thunk huh?” Liz enthusiasm was infectious and Anna couldn’t help but grin. “Do you really think it’s safe?” The blonde sighed and shrugged, “Honestly I don’t know, but SciTech promised to take care of my child.
“But what about the environment and the stress and all of the hazards nasties?” Liz giggled again, “I’ve got no choice in the matter, and I imagine that I can rely on you, can’t I?”

It was a strange question, seeing as they had just met but Anna shrugged and sighed, listening to the dual engines of the shuttle begin to roar; they were leaving. “Well, looks like we’ve got a few hour flight Anna.” The dark haired woman nodded and rested her head back against the seat, “Guess so.” She mumbled, feeling her eyes getting heavy as they took flight.

Hours disappeared like seconds and when Anna awoke next, the shuttle came in for a hard landing, jolting all those within roughly. “Rise and shine ladies!” Riker called over the intercom, his voice already reminiscent to nails on a chalkboard, she already hated him. Unclasping all of the belts around her torso, Anna waited for Liz to unstrap herself and the two made their way out of the ship together, “Why did you come here?” The question beside her made the dark haired woman quirk an eyebrow and offer a noncommittal shrug, “I wanted to make sure that someone I care about it taken care of, even if that means putting myself through hell.” Liz smiled contently, “That’s rather noble of you, is this person your child?” As the two walked Anna explained her ‘life’ back home. She was the only child of a prominent family but she was not inducted into a life of glittering jewels of fine titles, instead Anna had had to work for everything she owned as her father had some vendetta against her, while her mother always played the silent party.

“Sounds rough,” again Anna shrugged as the two entered through a pair of hissing hydraulic doors, “Not really, I found comfort where I could, I prefer it this way.” Just as Anna had opened her mouth to say more, a silvery security bot came forward, “Subject SinClair, Subject Adams, you are to be escorted down to the hotlabs for your first assignment, please follow me.” There was something rather unsettling about the name of the labs, what exactly did they do in the ‘hotlabs’?
