The sun was at its zenith and the sea was as blue as it could be... except for the blood leaving the dead bodies and attracting large white sharks in spite of the sound of canons.

Syd himself had slashed and kicked and punched his fair share of people from the opposite crew and his sun taned skin was now stained with sweat and blood too.

The battle hadn't been long but very intense. For once, they took on another pirate ship.
There was a time to piss off the establishment and a time to remind every wannabe rivals they should know their place.

This was what Syd's mistress and pirate queen thought, so this was what Syd adn the rest of the crew thought too for her words were their sacred law on all the seven seas.

And, frankly, to those who didn't agree, this was only a matter of time.
Like the captain of the ship they just boarded for instance.
Captain Jack O'Steel. A mountain of a man made of muscles, stubornnes and more muscles.
His large scimitar had cut more bodies than a peasant's scyth cut wheat.

Still, for all his physical prowess, his crew had their ass kicked by Syd and his mates but Kack O'Steel, thought he found a way out by invoking the old rite of challenge.

When a Captain challenges another, it's usually a matter of honnor that cannot be resolved otherwise. Yes, honnor and pirates, right?

It's rarely Something used when you've next to Nothing to bargain for.
Except, sometimes, your big ego was enough. Jack O'Steel was 100% certain the Syd's mistress had a very large, larger than life ego.
He certainly was right.
He also thought he had a chance to win and that... well, let's just say he was a very poor judge of character.

So, as it was usually done, both crews made a circle that would act as a ring and watched with attention how the duel would go. The prices were both boats and crew. The loser would lose everything to the winner.

Jack O'Steel was smiling, readying himself into a battle brawling stance, his large fists ready to crush bones and anything on their trajectory.
He spat on the side and dashed at the slender female captain, ready to punch her right in the face.
