The day was crisp in the small village of Portan. Sunlight shone through the clear skies and bathed everything with a warm, invigorating glow! On the surface, it was a perfect looking day. However, if one listened closely enough they'd start to hear the subtle whirring of various mechanisms throughout the air. Trees began to die at a rapid pace, far too rapid to be anything natural. Nox sat alone on his stone throne, watching the world through the various spy glasses and insects he had sent out to absorb a special form of energy for him, Wakfu. You see, Nox was a man with a mission to complete, and he would stop at nothing to see it come to fruition...even if it meant sacrificing the world. One of his insects however had located an unusually large source of the energy - from a moving entity. Upon closer inspection of the data readout, his intrigue was piqued.

It took but a moment for him to warp to the source of the Wakfu, and after being defeated by it - he came to a conclusion that made his heart soar. This was a dragon. The source was a dragon! Surely such a creature would have more than enough wakfu to power his devices! He made a move to attack once more - to no avail. Before he could land his hit, the dragon had disappeared into a thick veil of mist that it had conjured taking it's cargo with it - A small baby.

Nox retreated to tend to his own wounds and reformulate his plans again, choosing to draw wakfu from low-priority targets such as plants. There, on his throne with plenty of patience, he waited for the perfect moment to launch the second phase of his plans.

It had been seventeen years since that day, where Artemis had been dropped off by that great Dragon in the small town of Sanum. She may have not remembered, but her father, Falon, did. On her sixteenth birthday, he had told her about how she came to be his daughter. It was a quiet night, and not many people would witness what he did. No, he felt it first...a great force of power that hovered over his home, eclipsing the moon light and casting a great shadow over him. He was too stunned to move as the creature descended, and at first he thought it might have been his last moment in the world. Yet when the dragon landed in front of him, he noticed her.

He didn't know why, but he held out his hands to the dragon, and it moved over to place the infant in his hands. She stirred, her crystal blue eyes opening slowly to see her new caretaker. She didn't seem too happy, but she did not cry. She only closed her eyes and fell asleep in his arms. Before he could look back up to the dragon, it was already gone. That was the story about how she came to be...

Falon, now in his late thirties did everything he could to raise her even without the influence of a mother. He knew she was special, and everyone else did too. She looked nothing like him or any other other race in the village, which made her aware that she wasn't native to the village. Still, everyone treated her like she was their own. She liked it, and she was happy. However, she couldn't help but question how she came to be. Who were her real parents?

One day, Artemis began to notice changes within herself. Monsters were a common occurrence, they were mostly vermin. She had learned how to fight with a sword to defend herself, but today she was beginning to sense things she couldn't sense before. She just felt strange all around. So when she ran into a monster on her way home from the fields, she was surprised that her senses were much keener than before. She could tell it was coming from behind her, and fast. A quick draw of her sword and a single swing caused something even stranger to occur. A burst of energy radiated from her sword and pushed the monster back far enough to scare it.

What...what was that? She had to wonder...if she should tell her father? Would he even know? Artemis didn't like this..not one bit.
