Peace and prosperity were the only words that could describe civilizations of the world once the finally casted off their differences and came to an agreement. No one imagined it would ever happen, that predator and prey, mammal and reptile could actually make amends for the past and drop all of the grudges they once held. This peace wasn't completely unanimous, some of those who still lingered in the world held minute grudges against ancient enemies, but this was to be expected. Yet, as a whole, the individual societies casted off debts, reparations, and all ill intent to work together in moving the entire planet forward together. Yet, this vast, far reaching pacifism unearthed something that had slumbered between realms. Before the years of peace, nature and life continued the necessary balance of reality, good and evil. War and peace. Dark and Light. Yet, as the scales of reality began to tip deeply on the side of peace something had to change to balance the world once more. To make right the equilibrium of the universe. The answer came with a shrill, deafening call and the blood of hundreds on a single, blood moon night.

In the shroud of darkness, forms shifted and squeezed between trees of the endless forest. The first to sight the strange movements believed what she saw was merely and illusion of the night. Yet, like the speed and potency of a storm, the beings were on them. A massive horde of enormous brutes, and tentacled assassins swept over and through the city's defenses. The bodies that appeared physical oozed while a vile, putrid ebony pussy, as if it has simply found a body or husk and bloated it grotesquely into a seemingly solid shape, while the others were still searching for bodies to defile and take over. Whom was chosen couldn't be understood. Infants, elderly, woman, and man fell victim to these beasts that possessed their bodies, twisting and tormenting them as they ravaged the first of many cities. How could anyone have known, that peace and kindness shared across the planet would unleash such horrors of chaos.

News of this first night barely reached the next city before the twisted horde was upon them. Defenses were raised, royal guard summoned from the capital. Standing before the assaulting masses, male and female furries of varying species held stalwart stance like a wall of bodies. The shimmering, metallic armor they wore was the only thing remaining on when the swarm slammed their defenses with a barrage of deadly blows and oozing body snatchers. To add to the horror of the fluid filled screams that gushed down the streets, homes could hear the shredded metal of stretched and dangling steel clank louder and louder as their fate approached. An orchestra of terror.

Clearly, the strength of steal was not going to save them. With this knowledge, the council of life that had been established with the great treaty, sent messengers across the land, seeking out greatest minds of magic and occult. When the letter reached a quite home in the middle of a dense forest, the wise eyes of a female mage would find these words:

All mages and masters of the occult, head this message. A great plight has befallen this world. Beings have entered our world, from where we do not know. Soldiers only provide a new body for them to inhabit and warp into twisted shells. This land will be lost if we cannot discover a way to push them back to whence they came."

The news was grim. All mages had sensed the presence of darkness and the pain of those who had been claimed for its chaos. Thromane had been watching his wife more carefully ever since the sadness came on her. She couldn't explain it, even when life was great in their simple home, pain seemed to fill her heart and he knew. Peace had been short lived. The couple had left the high court after the Great War and the treaty had been signed. Thromane was a warrior true, possessing great prowess on the battle field and a commanding lead that bolstered his troops. Many an enemy fell to the slash of his claws, and never had he been captured or slain. Sure, his body was riddled with scars from close calls, but that was the pride and marking of any true warrior. His wife, she had been a scholarly mage, wisdom and fortitude that gained his respect as they worked together. She was the only one who was successful at silencing him in the midst of aggressive debate, and it wasn't with a shout. Inside her, deep in her being, a force projected from her eyes and mouth that silenced even the most irrational being.

Now. Now they were enjoying the fruits of their labors. Years without a warm body to break the chill of night were over. No more fighting. They were granted a large quadrant of land to with as they wished. For the two, the only real answer was to build a small home and relish in the serenity of nature. No talks of politics, no back handed compliments. Life everywhere. That was Thromane's request, he wanted as much life around him as possible. "I need to balance the amount of death I have witnessed and caused, with life I can protect," recalled Thromane as he approached his wife. Those words had helped make her choice where they would live. But now, something was in her mind and he knew, it would have to do with him. Blue eyes momentarily disappeared, hidden behind the black fur of his eye lids as he waited to hear her words. When they didn't come, he stepped forward and took her into his arms and smiled.

"Whatever I need to do, let me do it. For us."

Confident as ever, but he couldn't have fathomed what answers his wife might conjure from her memories or imagination. That didn't matter to him. No, the tall, black wolf trusted his wife completely. Whatever came, he knew he could handle it. Even as dense arms squeezed tight around her ribcage, drawing her into a deeper embrace. Who knew when he would get another chance to do so? All that was left, was for her to decide what she was going to do.
