Name: Lynosha
Nickname: Lynn, to very few if none.

Appearance:
mermaid_by_elwy_airon-d3ie9om.jpg

Lynn is something of an unusual creature, none would say she is quite what they pictured when you say "mermaid" but she is a sight to be seen none the less. From the crown of her head to the tip of her tail she is 10 feet long. Lets go from the top to bottom shall we? Lynosha has silver hair that ends at about her waist in long flowing layers that can be shimmering from the surface. Her eyes are something quite special, they are that of a humans, normally a dark blue ring around the outside but getting lighter to a ice blue around her pupil, but her pupil can expand extremely wide making it so that she can see in the deepest depths of the ocean, providing that there is some light. Moving down to her full lips behind which hide her teeth, something special there, she has a hidden second set of teeth that she can extend at will and are as sharp as needles. Down to her gills she has three sets of delicate lines on either side, starting from the bottom of her earlobes to the middle of her neck. These can be 'switched-off' when above water.
Lynn's upper body for the most part is that of a human woman's body. Her small breasts are unlike that of a human's though. Her pale pink nipples only 'appearing' when aroused or suckling a child as to keep them protected from the cold. Her hands have a clear webbing between the fingers that shrink or tighten against her fingers when not needed as well as sharp nails that have her ever so slightly upset when she breaks. Her abdomen is flat and pure muscle as it should be seeing as she swims day and night.
Then to her wide hips, most say they are meant for child birth, leads into her tail. Her tail is something quite unique. Down each side of her 'legs' is a thin looking fin, almost clear at times that, like a cuttle fish keep her stationary or help with fast turns or moves through the water. These fins taper off as they get closer to her fin that is shaped in a wide arch looking fragile but can propel her through the water faster than any other animal of the sea.
Lynosha's skin is quite unique as well, the base tone of her whole body seems to be a pearlescent white that shimmers a light pink if lit properly, when she blushes that pink stands out far more. She had another skill that the cuttle fish has, she can change colors, usually just from black to white as that is what seems to notify predators to stay away. Or memorize unknowing fish for a moment to catch them. This color change mostly happens in her tail, hair, along the sides of her rib cadge and outer arms.
As for scales, hers are tiny, only growing larger along her lower torso as they shift from scales to skin.

As for unique features Lynosha has a long scar on her back from her side all the way to her shoulder, crossing the entirety of her back.

History:

For Lynn her past has been a blur... She remembers being small and warm, carried by her mother for a while, loved even, until that was all taken away from her and she was left stranded to fend for herself. And she did. She survived in the wide ocean with others like herself, some called them sirens, some mer people, others called them demi gods. But Lynosha simply called herself a child of the ocean, she would often find herself watching beings that her friends called humans. They were sad creatures, unable to swim very well against the ocean current. But she found them fascinating none the less, her people warned Lynn against getting too close but she did and sorely regretted it for the rest of her days... (That reason will stay a secret)

Now though she swims mostly alone, her thoughts the only thing that keeps her company other than the creatures of the sea like herself. But even though the ocean is wide she still sees her friends, what few there are left. None of them can remember how long that they had swam the ocean, there is no time for them, simply the sea that keeps them going.

RE: Atoll of Fate {KayLove & Campion}

The sea has never been known for how gentle it was, how loving, or warm. It was often compared to a cross woman who smite all those to defy her and curse those to a devistating life of sorrow. But that is the human way. For Lynosha the sea was nothing more than a father doing what was thought best for his children as well as pets that live under and in its depths. One could never get away from his all seeing eye, he was a punisher as well as a saint of the people of Mer that lived whithin his tempid domain.

Recently Lynosha had found herself swimming with a pod made of a small family. It was often that stray mermaids or men would travel from pod to pod to stay in a group with higher chances of having one protect your back as well as the social aspect of the desolate life they lived. They traveled along one of the many large land masses, Lynosha had almost traveled them all but prefered to stay in the slightly warmer climates as she did not have the sheer mass to keep herself warm in the cold.

The pod of mer stuck close to the shore of the continent foraging for food, catching small fish and snagging clamoring crabs to eat. It was a peaceful life to live, once finished they headed towards the deeper waters to a flatter section of sea where the children could swim about and be watched at all times. The two children were female and had so much spark to them Lynosha often wondered how they simply didn't swim around day and night for hours upon end. Lynosha was younger compared to their parents and got along with them, often calling her 'big sister' when they wanted something or needed help.

But as the girls played her and the adults ate their spoils talking of the humans they saw, how primitive they looked, how thin, it wasn't a developed country yet it seemed. But that was little to be cared about for the mer.

"Big Sister!" came the waterloged echo voice of the older of the two girls, Closha.

Lynosha gave the parents a look and recieved a small nod from the smiling parents to allow Lynn to heed the call and go find out what the girls wanted. And she was off in a flurry of delicate fins, faster than the family seeing as her tail was ment for speed, but soon she tapered down as she got closer to see what the girls were looking at over the sandy hill before them.

"What is it little ones?" she asked as she came to a stop beside the smaller mer, Desti, who immediately wrapped her arms around Lynn's tail and clung tightly.

"What is it Lynn?" asked Closha with a voice filled with curiosity.

Lynn looked up and finally noticed what the two were talking about, below them was an old ship, ruined and its long beams broken but the shape held true. The older mer patted both the girl's dark haired heads and said softly, "It's a human contraption to float over the ocean."

"Why?" asked Desti, "Yeah, why would they want to float?" asked Closha at the same time.

Lynosha chuckled softly, "Because human's cannot swim as we do, they inhabit the land, a place we cannot go."

And with that the girls seemed satisfied but also curious which was often a dangerous thing but before Lynosha could attempt to tell them no, Desti was swimming down towards the broken ship.

"No! Desti," she hissed as she shot forward and grabbed the girls forearm but in doing so she accidentally scraped the tip of her middle finger on the merchild's skin and a thin like of dark red blood began to float to the surface almost immediately. Lynosha gave a silent gasp as she saw what she did. Blood, a mermaids blood was extremely potent, if not stopped quickly then they might all die.

"Children!" she tugged Desti back quickly without hurting her any further, "I am sorry child," she said with worried eyes as she kept glancing back at the ship, "Go back, tell them to leave now." there was a silent shift in the water below them, "Now girls!" she told them as she gave they backsides a shove and used her tail to create a small wave of water to help them along.

Lynn knew when the ocean moved and when it moved to accommodate something and that something was not good. Lynosha kept glancing back at the merfamily behind her, but soon the creature revealed itself, it was a tiger shark. The sharks were often curious so Lynosha was not surprised that it had been in the ship and only come out at the smell of blood.

"Damned creature.." she mumbled to herself as she watched it swim in lazy lines up her direction. She wanted to be sure that the thing was hungry before she did what she was about to do... But it was. Lynosha stayed completely still as it passed her, its eye watching her but not giving her a second glance as its soul purpose was to find the blood.

"Oh no you don't" she hissed as she took her sharp nails and quickly gave her upper arm a quick slash, four delicate scrapes appearing on her skin and crimson blood stained her vision. Just like that the hunt was on but the waters had steadly been changing too... The ocean becoming choppy and the waterline receding ever so slightly. There was a storm coming and by the feeling of it, it was a very large one as the boat below them rocked back and forth. Out of the corner of her eye she saw the family fleeing. But her main concern was the tiger shark that was now circling her...

And she knew that it would strike, deadly and fast, without warning. Her instincts heightened as the danger arose, the coloring of her hair and tail changing colors rapidly from back to white now in thick lines but that did nothing to keep the creature away. The water shiften suddenly again but Lynosha moved at the last possible moment twisting to her side, allowing the sharks fin to bat her way as it gave to the momentum she needed to speed off in the opposite direction of the sharks attack.

She swam and swam until the waves became too fearsome and she was soon being pushed and pulled under the sea in a direction she did not want to go but she had no choice the storm was now passing directly over her. Its circling clouds and feirce momentum was not something that any mer could oppose. But still she tried... It was a fightening moment, the dark ocean moving all around her with no control of where she was going or when it would stop. She was utterly frightened...

Suddenly a huge wave came upon her and tore her down into the ocean causing her to hit her head on some outlying rock... Everything went black...

~~~
The sound of tapping crept into Lynosha's subconscious, ticking away at her dreams of sharks, blood, and clashing Titans of waves... But as the tapping grew louder Lynn's heartbeat speed and the dream became far more than she could handle as she suddenly gasped, her blue eyes popping open wide, her lashes containing specks of sea water. She heard the unfamiliar sound of wings fluttering as she moved from her position of laying upon the soft sand of the beach, half in and out of the water.
Lynosha coughed as she instinctually tried to breath initially through her gills but quickly shut them off to the former usage that her body had automatically adjusted to outside of the water. Startled by her surroundings, she looked around her and noted that she was in some sort of island beach.. No it wasn't an island... She looked in a complete circle and noted the edges of sand, the dips in the darker blue colors indicating the deeper areas and the small opening that perhaps something large could swim through.
As she sat up she noted that everything hurt, her tail, arms, head espically, and back. She flipped herself over, her tail heavy outside of the boyant water. She attempted to whipe the sand from her skin but quickly gave up and inspected herself. She was bruised and scraped in several places but none seemed to be injured horribly. She was thankful for that.
She tucked a piece of her dried hair behind her ear and she continued to look around at her surrounding's. If there human's here they most likely would have spotted her by now. But so far there was no life other than the bird and the fish she spotted in the warm waters before her. She would need to take time to let herself recover and it seemed like the perfect chance to do so.
The sound of a cocanut dropping behind her caused her to jump and hurry back into the waters... She couldn't help but laugh at herself as she realized what she had done but still she wasn't used to being so near to land with all of its mysteries...
RE: Atoll of Fate{Partner Needed}
Maneao was born on the tiny pacific atoll of Cocos island (http://blogs.agu.org/geospace/files/2012/12/Cocos_Island_Atoll.jpg) a place that sat in the middle of the vast pacific and was the only home he had ever known There were only fifty islanders on the atoll who eeked out a subsistence living from the sparse resources that island provided, and the rich marine life in its shallow sheltered waters and along it s shelf with the great ocean. Like most of the islanders. Maneao was a free diver, and among his people he was one of the most accomplished. Not only could he swim actively under water for up to 3 minutes before returning to the surface, but he had several times reached the bottom of the islands shelf at a depth of over ninety feet. The crushing pressure seemingly having little effect on him. Because of his abilities he was an extremely effective spear fisherman, catching easily twice what his peers did.
The islanders were very conscious of the fact that vegetation was sparse, and the warm climate, fire was seldom if ever used. The had no readily available fuel. They ate their fish raw or sun roasted in reflector ovens constructed of a few scraps of aluminum from wrecked dingy which had washed ashore many years ago. The hot sun produced more than enough heat to cook their meat when it was needed. Being bronze skinned, the islanders did not have need of clothes, and so typically wore none at all. Except in the most violent of storms they were never cold and having never worn clothing were not in least modest about their bodies.
This particular day, Maneao had risen early by moonlight, and was swimming the shallow waters of the lagoon in search of the smaller but succulent creatures that sheltered there. He had found from experience, that by moonlight he was much more likely to reach them unseen as he swam along the bottom in complete silence. He had just rounded one of the many jetties that spread like fingers into the lagoon when lying in the shallows he saw a shimmering shadow, iridescent with pinks in the blues in the moonlight. It was the biggest creature he had ever encountered in the lagoon and he estimated its body was almost twice as long as his. Having experienced Humboldt squid, the only other creature of its size, and found them extremely dangerous, so he approached quietly and with great caution. His eyes were sharp, and well adapted to the sea water, so he spent almost three minutes studying the creature, which seemed to be vaguely of feminine form with an very long tail instead of legs. He wondered if it was one of the legendary Mer that they told stories of by moonlight after supper. Surfacing silently, he watched the creature from a distance and was amazed to find that apparently, its upper body was out of the water and that it was breathing air. It looked very like the young girls of the island except that its hair and skin were of a very pale silver blue and it seemed to be missing the large nipples which the island girls had.
Maneao resolved not to disturb the creature yet, and to keep his discovery secret. He sunk silently into the dark water and swam back around the jetty before leaving the lagoon and returning to his hammock with his catch. He decided to return later in daylight and attempt to observe the mysterious creature again.
RE: Atoll of Fate{KayLove & Wolvenrogue} (please move to taboo? thread please)
Lynosha didn't quite know what to do with herself now that she was conscious. But the grumbling of her stomach and aching pain all over her body caused her to move from the shore and seek out the various life forms that lived in the shallow waters. Technically she was now the top predator in this small ecosphere but she wouldn't know until she encountered something bigger than herself.
Pushing herself back into the water was a tedious task on its own, but it could be done, slowly. But soon she was back into the waters and diving into the small waves. She shimmered beautifully from the clear water, the pale silver glittering and her tail sending small splashes of water. But it wasn't all fine just yet, she wanted to find a certain coral to help her ease the pain on her temple and bruises on her sides, they both ached immensely.
Now that she was in the deeper blue waters she searched for the specific coral that she needed. Her fin sweeping gracefully behind her as she swam between the reef, schools of fish hurrying out of her way, sting rays gliding under her on the ocean floor. She let her nailed fingertips skim the tops of the large rays as they swam.
She smiled softly down at the peaceful creature, before her attention returned to the task at hand, coral. There were so many different types of coral that many were unknown to humans but a Mer was rather familiar to all of them. Some were deadly, while some were miracle workers.
She spotted the light orange coral quickly, swimming over and kneeling upon the sand beside it anchoring her fin down by shifting it under the sand. Using her sharp nails she dug under the hard shell of the coral to get to the soft inside, a piece of shell falling away and she dug out a large portion of gelatinous yellow innards, keeping it tightly in her hand before she put back the fallen piece of shell. The coral would heal and recover from the invasion. The only down side about the substance In her hand she had to be out of the water for it to sit long enough to take effect, she hated that part.
She swam back to the shallow waters, on her way quickly catching a medium sized fish, her nails digging in quickly so that it had a quick death.
Lynn found the edge of the sandy beach where the rocks started and the incline of the mountain began. Throwing her meal onto the rock above herald using the lower rocks to pull herself up onto the flat rock, the soft waves helping her achieve her goal. She moved the fresh fish beside her as she applied the yellow substance to her bruised rid cadge, it spread onto her skin changing from yellow to clear continuing it to everywhere it hurt and soon it began its effects, the pain easing from her tired body.
The Mer paid little attention to her surroundings as she ate the fish, her sharp second row of teeth helping her dig into the lean flesh. Soon nothing but bones laid beside her.
The sudden sound of a twig snapping caused her to look up quickly and scan the surrounding area. She felt the substance on her temple hoping that it had dried enough for her to return into the water, but it was still tacky to the touch.
RE: Atoll of Fate{KayLove & Wolvenrogue} (please move to taboo? thread please)
Maneao cleaned his catch and placed most of it in the reflector oven for his family to eat once the sun rose and the awakened. For himself, he set aside three small but particularly tasty fish for himself. He laid back in his hammock and ate the fish raw as he watched the sun rising slowly over the great ocean. This was a beautiful site as he looked eastward and the sun rose in an array of colors which reminded him of the beautiful creature he had seen only in twilight. As the sun rose , he climbed out of his hammock ans headed back to the cove where he had last seen the beautiful sea creature. So as not to be seen he entered the lagoon where he had left it and swam around the jetty again, hoping to find the creature where she had been. As his head broke the surface silently, his heart fell. She , was that the right description? had moved. He quietly searched the horizon. His heart soared as he saw her quietly resting in the shallows much as before. He hears the twig snap and sees her flinch, but not move. She is on high alert. The creature was clearly large enough not to have anything to fear in the lagoon. However, he reasoned that she did not normally live there and instead was a temporary visitor and maybe not voluntarily staying there. He watched as the creature slowly ate a fish almost identical to what he had eaten, and seemed to care for what looked like a wound on its forehead. This gave him an idea. He sunk below the water. Selectively fishing he caught three more of the fish which she had caught for herself. He slowly surfaced again when he was about ten yards away. He softly whistled to get her attention and extended the fish on the end of the spear, and laid them on the rack near her, hoping she would not slip beneath the water and disappear.
It was a magic moment, but one which he had no idea how it would play out. He spoke softly in his island dialect " My name is Maneao, Man-e-ao, Man-e-ao with no idea if she could hear or speak. The sun was rising higher and made her beautiful hair shine, as the wind dried it and made it wave. He rose slowly out of the shallow water and let her see his entire body and slowly took a step in her direction, before waiting to see how she would respond.
Lynn watched the treeline with wide eyes, trying to spot anything and everything in her sight but she saw nothing other than the warm winds flowing through the trees and the birds hopping from branch to branch. She wondered silently what it was like out there, on land, where there were no cold depths of lonely sea.
She took a deep breath and sighed, tucking her silver hair behind her ear and wrapping her arms around her torso, she was a solitary creature but she did miss the little Mer that had treated her like family.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a soft noise, one that she had heard dolphins making when talking to one another, but there were no dolphins in these shallow waters. Lynosha's eyes quickly spotted the creature in the water before her, something sharp emerged from the water with impailed fish along its length. Her heart seemed to stutter, it was a human... She didn't dare touch the fish that he presented her.
Her eyes widened dramatically as he began moving out of the water and onto the sandy land. She felt far out of her element, exposed, and most of all frightened. Her hair, tail, and sides bagan to change colors slowly, thick black stripes cascading down in a rhythmic motion hoping to frighten him if anything keep him away as she watched him, curiously observing his every move, he was unclothed leading her to believe that the people here were not of the main land.
His words frightened her, an unfamiliar dialect, but it contained small things she had heard once before. But she didn't stay long enough to piece it together in her mind as the slow step he made towards her tipped the scale and she plunged herself into the waters below.
Her tail carried her swiftly away already ten yards away in less than seconds before she slowed the pain on her side coming back in a dull ache from the sudden exertion of energy. She flinched as she touched it lightly bubbles escaping her lips.
Lynosha quickly and childishly hid behind coral, her tail curling and coming close to her body, the black stripes slowing and fading as she watched through the fan like coral. Her silver hair drifted around her head as she looked through the water and tried to feel for a shift in the oceans waves. She couldn't leave this place not yet, not when she hadn't fully recovered and with no knowledge of the deeper waters outside of the place, there could be all manners of predators out there simply waiting on a wounded animal to swim into its jaws. She shuttered at the thought.
Maneao's face fell as she bolted for the water. He sat down cross-legged on the sand. She had swam barely 15 yards out into water just deep enough to submerge her and there she sat hiding behind coral each of their views distorted by the ripples on the surface of the crystal clear sunlit water. The display of colors had reminded him of the humbolt squid he had seen. They would put on a regular light-show designed to frighten him. In and of itself the colors were harmless, but they warned of an animal who felt threatened, and was ready to defend itself. This creature didn't look threatening, but he knew better than to assume she wasn't. Having caught the fish needed for the day, he had little else to do so he waited, watching the creature, as it watched him. He was puzzled that she hadn't taken the fish he offered, it was the same species he had just watched her eating, that he knew was a certainty.
Reaching over without getting up, he grabbed a fish off the spear he scraped the scales from it and sat there eating it slowly, and watching her. A few minutes later he grabbed another, and then tossed it into the water above her so that it sank to the bottom, easily with in her reach, wondering what she would do. It appeared to him that the creature had may wounds, some bigger than others. If she was bleeding she would probably draw predators. Even though the water was too shallow for sharks, the barracuda would eventually find her. Though one could be handled, they were pack hunters and their numbers would eventually be a problem.
She must have known that he could have speared her when he first approached if she was as intelligent as she looked. Maneao was puzzled by the whole situation Eventually he stretched out on the warm sand. He wanted to show her that he meant no harm.
Lynosha was at a loss of what to do, as she felt her heart rate slow back down to normal and her enflamed gills returned to their resting positions as she took several deep breaths. She could tell his wasn't moving, well, shifter but not moving in any rapid motions as to follow her, that was a relief. He was lean and talented with the spear, she would rather not be on the other end of it.
She jumped from the fish landing in the water, it floated down harmlessly. She watched, tilting her head to the side wondering why he would give up a resource. But she did not question the offering as she swam around the coral to pluck it from the drifting ocean. Small minnow swam around her tail as she folded the long length under herself to sit on the shallow floor and eat the tasty fish, her teeth coming out once again. Deadly sharp things, but then again a Mer needed them in places such as the ocean.
Watching soon became tedious as she waited for the human to move, fish bones drifting to the surface as she discarded of them, patience was not something that many Mer had as a virtue. Lynosha had always been curious, espically when it came to humans, but there was always a sense of danger when it came to them. They could come into her domain but she could never enter theirs.
She swam a few feet closer in the clear watered shallows, his blurry image getting clearer as she watched him lay onto his back, seemingly defenseless. A few feet closer, the crown of her head and blue eyes emerged from the waters to get a clear look at the human as he rested, her hair making a silver pool around her. She allowed herself to get a couple inches closer to the shore and her pale lips were exposed.
"M-Man-e-ao..." She repeated softly, she hadn't spoken above water in some time, it felt strange to do so now.
Maneao smilled and slowly rolled onto his side to face her. He took the last fish and tossed it the few feet that separated them. Laying his palm against his chest "Man-e-ao" he repeated a little faster. Holding his hand out toward her palm up he questioned, "Your name?" It was now clear that she was highly intelligent . He patted his chest and pointed at her repeating " Your name".
Seeing the oozing red wound on her forearm, he picked up the coconut that had fallen earlier and pulling the bone knife he at tied to his ankle he drilled a hole in the shell and poured out some of the milk, then rubbed it on his fore arm then after setting down the knife slowly, held it out to her. His reach was three feet short, but he made no effort bridge the gap, but rather waited for her to make the move.
He hoped her trust would continue to build. He watched carefully for any sign of fright or panic. Now that he could see her more clearly it was obvious that she was indeed injured. His eyes were diverted from her for a moment as he saw two barracuda a few yards away. His spear was in reach, and he made note of their position, and prepared to dispatch them if need be. For the moment though the were a safe distance away and he didn't want to frighten the creature.
The Mer watched as he smiled at her, white teeth a shocking comparison to his tanned skin, but he was handsome when he smiled. For a human that is. She was about to answer when his eyes flickered to her arm and he became preoccupied with the hard shell of some sort of land fruit. She watched curiously becoming cautious of the blade he wielded with ease noting his actions and watching him lean forward to try and give her the forgin object.
She swam a foot closer to the human hand and used her tail, and in one fluid motion she used it to gently flick up to the surface and dislodge the object from his hand. Although the movement was gentle by her standards it might have been a bit harsher to the human as the coconut dropped into the gentle waters and floated towards her. Lynosha drifted a bit closer to land, her shoulders now exposed to the air, her gills pressing closed against her neck, the webbing between her fingers sinking back against her fingers as she used both hands to capture it and inspect it. Looking inside and around the whole fruit noting the white flesh through the hole and the gentle slush of liquid.
"Lynn-oh-sha." She told him as she studied the object some more before looking at him, meeting his gaze with her striking blue one. She slowly raised her arm out of the water and allowed the liquid to flow onto her arm rubbing it in gently onto the wound that she inflicted upon herself to save the other two Mer. She regretted nothing, not when it came to harming herself to save an innocent life.
"Your name..." She was simply repeating what he said getting used to the words on her lips, "Maneao." The empty nut was useless to her now as she threw it back towards the sand next to the human.
He pointed to her and repeated "Lynnohsha" the lilt of his accent letting it roll off his tongue. "Lynnosha" he repeated smiling. "yes my name is Maneao" He nodded to her smiling. He unfolded his legs and let them dangle in the warm water of the lagoon. I was then that he saw a barracuda making a charge toward Lynnohsa and motioned with his hand for her to move to the side as he picked up the spear and stopped the fish half way to her he deftly swung the fish up on the bank and speared the second fish. This time he tossed the spear and the fish up on the bank, hoping she would not think he was about to attack her. He whistled softly again hoping to calm her. Hoping she would come closer to shore where it was safer until she stopped bleeding, he patted the warm sand next to him. He looked at her with gentle eyes. "Lynnosha come here" he said as he patted the ground.
The edges of her lips twitched up as she watched him realize her name and she nodded ever so slightly to confirm.
She cocked her head to the side as he motioned to her not quite understanding what he wanted but she quickly gathered the information as the spear was swung past her at a horribly fast speed. She curled up closer to the lagoon edge as she watched his swift movements, he was deadly fast and she was slightly impressed, only slightly as she hadn't known that the barracuda were there. Usually her guard was always up but this situation had all of her attention shifting towards the unknown.
Her eyes scanned the surrounding area, only small fish now, a few starfish crawled along the bottom. She was satisfied that the only danger as the human who could have killed her if he had wanted to just now.
There was the whistle again, her attention snapped back, to Meneao as she listened to the sound. Her lips formed the O like his lips did but nothing happened, disappointed she tucked a piece of silver hair behind her ear.
"Meneao.... Come h-here." She patted the surface of the water, she was slightly frustrated that he did not speak her language but knew that there were sounds that humans simply could not hear like her people could. She knew what he was asking if her though, he wanted her out of the water. Why? Her arm perhaps, he had gone to a slight length as he had noted it was there.
She looked back at the water behind her and then at the gentle eyes of the human, almost reminding her of the whales she often swam next to, such gentle beasts. She swam closer to the edge, giving the human a wide berth and resting her hands on the sandy edge before she pulled herself from the water a couple feet away from the human. The soft lagoon sand edge gave way under her weight causing her to gasp and slip back into the shallow waters. She determined she didn't like this situation as she looked up at the human, "Tricky land," she said in her own language, to him it might have sounded like a couple of foreign syllables. Needless to say she was slightly embarrassed by her actions.
He dislodged the second barracuda from the spear and set it next to him where it was handy. When he saw Lynnosha pat the water and say his name he obliged, and slipped down into the water and next to her and at a distance where they could easily reach each other. He could see that Lynosha was curious about him. He patted his thy signaling that it was ok for her to touch him. He giggled a little when she seemed to sink into the sand. He looked at her back where there was a ragged , raw cut running the length of it. He knew that it had to be painful. Whatever had happened to her, it had been serious. He held his hand above the shimmering scales of what would have been thighs if she had been human. He looked at her gently. "May I touch?" he was as curious about her as she seemed to be about him. For the moment they were half in his element and half in hers.
He hoped that she would be well soon, to him the thought of entering her realm would be wonderful. She was amazingly fast in the water. He wanted to know he better, but with the language barrier and her timidness, it was bound to be slow.
She settled on to the lagoon sand so that her torso was outside of the water just as he slipped into it. Her hands resting on the sand behind her as she watched him intently, her long tail flickering up and down, shimmering in the midday sun an iridescent pale pink and blue.
She listened to him speak and watched his hand so very close to her tail... "Touch." Lyn told him, her fin splashing up behind him causing a light shower of water to rain down upon Meneao. She laughed as he was showed by her mistake, for the first time in a very long time, her laugh under water was nothing but bubbles but above water is was a soft giggle, musical even, something about her vocal cords causing it to be a little something more than a humans laugh.
Lynosha leaned forward, reaching her pale hand out slowly, to touch his hand over her tail. His skin was warm to the touch while Lynosha's was cold. She drew back her hand swiftly not knowing how to proceed in an instance such as this.
But she needed him to talk more, or else she would never learn his language. She reached out again, slowly, and touched his neck softly focusing on the Adam's apple the bobbed every time he spoke, "Meneao..." She patted his neck gently, carefully as to not let her sharp nails hurt him, this was harder than she thought.
Her touch was feathery and light and with her cool hands on his sensitive neck it tickled. He laughed and spoke through it, the words clearly happy, "It tickles" His voice was much deeper than hers. Clearly the voice of the man he was becoming. He took her hand which though it was lighter and more slender, because of her very long fingers and nails was large for a female. He ran one of his thick strong fingers along the back of her hand and one of her fingers and out to the tip of her nail. It was razor sharp and fine as a needle. He wondered that it didn't break. "It's very sharp! like my knife." He pointed to the knife made from whale bone that was tied to his ankle. He repeated the word for her "Knife". He returned his gaze to her torso where he had been in the beginning. First though he pointed to the sun and then moved his hand down over he with out touching her as though rubbing and said "Warm", then placing her hand on his warm thigh and holding it there repeated "Warm". Leaving her hand where he had placed it, he gently placed his hand just inside the hollow of her hips and said "cool" and indeed it was cool, but beautifully soft and smooth. He slid his and along what should have been her thigh and and said "smooth" and then "soft".
He looked into her eyes and it was as if he could see into her mind, they were amazingly clear and when she blinked it was with clear eyelids that only slightly blocked her vision. Her eyes were dark and large and hauntingly beautiful. As he ran his hand gently over the expanse of the smooth flesh of her tail he was surprised as a ridge of three bumps became visible gradually at the base of her hips. Human women had a slit at this location, but it was always there, but hers like her nipples seemed to be missing. She was certainly a curious creature and so at that point he laid back on the sand to let her explore him. "Touch" he said gently moving her hand, being careful of its sharp nails.
Th Mer listened closely to him a soft smile on her lips as he spoke. What a strange creature... she thought to herself as he took her hand and gently examined her body. She tried to stay still before him but she couldn't help but squirm slightly under his warm touch. She wasn't used to being touched in the ways he was, her tail flicking up and down, a small shiver running up her back.
Lynn returned his dark eyed gaze, with a soft smile, and watched him as he laid down beside her on the land. Took her a moment to realize what he suggested but cautiously she did. Her tail folded under her as she turned to face the land and human. Her hand reached out slowly, starting at his hair so think and dark compared to hers as she ran her finger tips through it, feeling it slip through her hand.
Her attention was pulled swiftly all the way down to his toes, Mer had short attention spans when it came to discovering things, never lingering on one thing for too long. She leaned on her elbow in the sand, cradling her head in her palm as her other hand skimmed down the bottoms of his sandy feet, touched each toe, followed his anckle, and to his knee.
She wondered fleetingly as to why he didn't wear anything to cover himself, knowing that well for humans and for Mer it was a sensitive area that he carried exposed to the world. Mer simply had ways of keeping their reproductive system safe from any outside danger.
Lynosha had been moving Maneao's kneecap back and forth, finding it fascinating, when she heard the soft noise of children's laughter in the distance. Her heart immediately skipped as instinct took over and she slipped back into the shallow waters below but kept close to the lagoon shore where she could see Maneao.
Before the children could arrive, Maneao grabbed his spear and slipped quietly under the water and down below water and behind a large coral where sat on the bottom beside her smiling at him. Using his knife, he cut a reed and used it like a straw to breath through. He was perfectly calm since he could go almost 3 minutes between breaths. The children came down on the sand where they had been, but never knew where the two were hiding. Maneao pointed out into the lagoon where there were deeper waters and started swimming leading her and hoping she would follow. After swimming about 20 yards, he stopped and turned back toward her and hovered about 20 ft below the surface.
He knew of a tidal cave on the opposite side of the lagoon where she might feel safer. It entrance was below the water most of the time and few knew it even existed. It had a vent high on the mountain out of reach of the islanders, but that meant the air in the cave stayed fresh and that there was a small amount of light could enter.
Lynosha was shocked to see the human follow her into the water so quickly and calmly follow her to her little hiding place behind the coral where she sat. She watched for a moment as the human pointed and started to swim in the direction. She smiled widely as she watched him swim decently through the warm waters. For once she did not pity a human for not being able to swim well.
She let him get a head start before her own muscles tensed and he was a good twenty yards ahead of her befo she sprung into action.
Her moves were swift and deadly accurate as her tail gave a sudden burst of energy and in a matter of seconds she was twirling herself around him in graceful arches, enough momentum to make him spin, her long tail catching the light and sending light through the waters. Small fish hurried away from the sudden shift in the water, she ignored the dull ach on her side from the deep bruises. Lynosha ended up on her side before him, a wide smile on her lips as she headed in the direction he pointed, moving slower so he could lead her.
Seeing her excitement made his heart soar and he swam for the cave knowing that he could not possibly leave her behind. The swim took only ten minutes and he surfaced only twice more for a breath along the way before he finally dove for the entrance to the cave. he entered the small hole near the bottom of the lagoon and then quickly rose to the surface. He waited for Lynosa to follow. When she broke the surface next to him. He wrapped his arms around her middle and looked deep into her large eyes. His smile was huge. Being with her in her own element was a wonderful experience. He grabbed a quick breath expecting that he might be headed under water in an instant.
He hoped that she wouldn't be scared by his embrace but see it for what it was. His simply wanting to be near her. As the slowly sunk below the surface he gently kissed her. He wondered how she would take it, but could not pass up the chance.
Lyn followed after him, gracefully swimming around him, but staying beneath the waves as he resurfaced before following him again. She wondered how often he swam these waters and realized it was probably every day, no wonder he knew the waters so well. She spotted the tunnel as he headed towards it, and quickly followed after him. Rising to the surface with a swift bat of her tail she rose beside him, her wide eyes inspecting the cave before her but the sudden pressure of arms around her caused her attention to go to the human once again.
Her eyes widened slightly as she saw the smile on his features, trying not to flintch as he touched the bruise on her side. She often had little Mer hugging her tail, as was common, but this was far more of an embrace in her world. He had stopped treading water now, her own tail keeping them both afloat but she allowed the water to submerge them both.
What came next was far more than she would have thought to ever happen to her... He kissed her. She had seen humans do it before, kissing, but Mer never did, seeing as it wasn't necessary for procreation. Although it wasn't unpleasant, his lips warm against hers. She gave slight pressure back to him before she broke the kiss and gently took his arms from around her, holding his hands in between their bodies. The loss of warmth from him was instant, she regretted it but still needed to recover, hopefully he could see the twinge of regret in her eyes but she wasn't sure.
Her tail though had a mind of its own most of the time as her wide fin went to the bottom of his feet and pushed up testing a couple times, before pushing up with such velocity that he was shot up from the water, flying a few feet above the calm waters, in the high arched cave.
She smiled and moved out of his way as he would land searching through the bubbles to find his smiling face.
It was a wonderful experience playing with her like this in the water. The fact that she had initiated it made it all the more fun. She tossed him on her tail again and again and each time he came up smiling. The third time he surprised her again wrapping his arms about her and kissing her deeply. One arm holding he, the other running his fingers through her hair. Even wet it was soft as silk. Her eyes shone at him even in the dimly lit cave, and though the slowly sank beneath the water, neither moved to break the kiss. Mene had never held a woman before, but he knew after that first moment that he liked it. When his air was finally getting low he gave a scissors kick and rose to the surface, where he took a breath through his nose before sinking wet again.
the next time he kicked to the surface and sat upon a submerged rock shelf and pulled her into his lap, guiding her long tail around them.
She allowed herself to be pulled against him once more in a kiss, her smile fading as he kissed her, her lips moving in response, copying him. Lynosha's hands resting on his shoulders before she wrapped her arms around his neck. But her hands slipped from him as he rose again to the surface.
The Mer sat on his lap and wrapped her tail tightly around them staying close to his warmth. "Warm." She said softly, her wet hair over her shoulders covering her breasts. This was all very strange to her. She didn't know how she liked this closeness just quite yet.
She shifted out of his hold to climb onto the sandy rocks of the cave and sit in the small sunlit patch the cave provided. The tips of her fin still reaching the pool of water below her. Her eyes scanned the small patch of earth she sat upon, tiny purple flowers thriving in the desolate patch of sun. Her fingernail touched one of the delicate things and the petals began to fall.
The corners of her lips turned down slightly as she wrapped her hands around herself. This was all so different, strange, this human seeming so... Nice. She didn't know what to do with herself, she had lost the pod of Mer she had been swimming with, she didn't know where she was and she didn't know when she would be well enough to leave this place.
Large salty tears welled up in her eyes as she curled her tail up in front of her as if she had knees to hide her face from Manaeo as her cheeks became pink and she wrapped her arms around her tail under the small patch of sun. Not knowing how the human would react to her sudden change in mood.
Maneao slipped quietly into the water. He took his spear and speared some small but succulent fish then surfaced in front of her. Pulling the fish from the spear he set them in front of her, then pulled himself up on to the ledge beside her and wrapped his arms around her, pulling her against his warm chest. He caught a tear as it rolled down her now pink cheek.
