For those of wealth, there was only one place to be on a weekend with the sun high in the sky and that was the marketplace. Everyone would hawk their wares in the streets once their stalls were set up, calling out to people young and old to spend their coin on what wares were displayed. Everything from wolf's tooth necklaces and fur rugs to jewels from far kingdoms to delicious pastries, meats and fruits was available from the market and anyone who was anyone would be found browsing the stalls.

Market days were days for the community, for people of all walks of life to come to spend their hard-earned coin on anything that caught their eye.

For most it was trinkets or delicacies from across the world but for the priviledged few with more coin than they often knew what to do with, there was a particular part of the market that drew their attention.

Set slightly back so as to offer an illusion of minor privacy, a small cluster of sellers strolled around dozens of large, barred cages, making sure their wares were easily seen. They too called out their wares, but theirs were of a more exotic variety. Creatures of all shapes and sizes huddled in their cages trying their best to stay out of the sun as it rose over the marketplace. Part human, part beast, the creatures were exotic pets for those who could afford them and their care. They ranged all the way from fuzzy felines to dangerous draconics, something to cater to even the most unusual of tastes.

One of those felines was a humanoid black panther by the name of Farrus. He was curled at the back of his cage, looking warily out at the people who passed by, baring his fangs at anyone who strayed too close to the cage that contained him.

Wearing only a thin loincloth to preserve his modesty, the feline was mostly covered in soft black fur that the seller went to great pains to keep in good condition to make him more appealing to buy. His chest had lighter, softer fur and his tail was curled around him to keep anyone from trying to pull on it. For him, whilst being captive and caged was far from where he wanted to be, at least he knew how the world worked.

If someone actually purchased him, then his whole world would change.

Adrian was a royal brat growing up but had soon found that screaming to get you way did nothing all he had to do was through his title in someone's face and they would give in. Unfortunately this became a habit and eventually everyone knew who and what he was. Now people for losing their heads never dared to say no to him which was fun for like a month.

Adrian strolled through the market bored out of his mind. He was so tired of people getting out of his way, tired of every little thing he said being yes sir this and yes sir that, it was high time he found someone willing to say no to him, to actually try at a game so he ran the risk of losing, to treat him like a person and not a title. He was pondering what ridiculous demand to ask for next that surely no one would ever do (though they always did) when the most curious thing happened... It looked as though that panther actually snarled at him.

Surely that is not the case... People would not dare say no to him much less show a sign of open aggression... That was people at that not one of these lower hybrids. Just to ensure himself that it was some sort of mistake Adrian doubled back and walked straight up to the cage... There it was again, Adrian absolutely livid, he was furious, he was intrigued. Here he had been pondering how to test people's boundaries to show disapproval of something he wanted and this creature barred his teeth at the very sight of him.

Adrian approached the seller not bothering to look at the price tag and offered and obscenely low amount for the creature, it was the way of the market to haggle he could use the creatures surly disposition against his seller... Funny how that was exactly why he wanted him.

For some of the morning, Farrus had thought that he was doing a good enough job of putting any potential buyers off. Snarling, baring his fangs and basically crowding the back of the cage away from them, presenting a hostile and unfriendly front was warding off anyone who initially showed interest. Even his fucking fur was bristling to make himself look bigger than he was, his tail like a bottlebrush in a bid to scare off anyone who dared peer into his cage. However just when he thought it would work on everyone, his eyes met those of someone whose initial reaction wasn't one of fright or disgust, but one of anger. Farrus wasn't sure what to make of that.

He felt his blood run cold though, when the noble approached the seller after passing his cage a second time. Surely not. Surely the noble wasn't being so brainless as to try to purchase the panther? Even the seller looked surprised, flatly denying the offered amount and proposing an extortionately high amount in return, letting the noble talk him down.

Agitated by the possibility of being purchased, Farrus shifted in place. The cage was far too small to pace in the way he wanted to, but he squirmed nonetheless, tail starting to lash in the confined space. The seller wasn't above beating his product if they caused a fuss, which was why Farrus hadn't said a word yet. Of course he was fully capable of railing against his captor, cursing him and his family for eternity but beneath the fur, he bore the bruises resulting from the last time he'd thought to raise his voice. He didn't like it but he wasn't about to get vocal and invite another beating, no matter how close to being bought he could possibly be.

Hahaha that creature has been snarling as though it would bite anyone who approached all day it is currently glaring daggers at me for even talking to you about buying it. If you think you will even get half that sum then it must be because your brain was addled when it attacked you. How many buyers do you honestly think have the ability to control something like that? The best they can do is send it into the pits to fight and the price I offered is more than you will get for anything that will die that quickly.

I tell you what though I am sure he has caused trouble for you and because I play on being his next master I will compensate you for some of it, though not all because you should learn to control your stock better.

Out of the corner of his eye he catches the raised fur and lashing tail; with a smile he motions the merchants attention to the Panters antics. Little does he know he is actually helping in his own purchase. Adrian now is able to look the panther full on with the merchant and does love the sleek musculature of the beast.

Pointedly ignoring the objections of his bodyguards for attempting to obtain something so dangerous. Adrian makes another offer, With a raised eyebrow he attempts to cow the merchant into submission. This is actually fun he must remember to come to Market more often Merchants don't just give in Adrian is thrilled.

The price goes up to at least something that is not an insult but still very low.
