Ever wonder what it was like to be stretched into a single line of atoms before being compressed into a single point of existence before being forcibly vomited back into reality ten feet above a hard cobblestone alley in the middle of the magical district of England?

Sirius black never wondered it, but he knew what it felt like.

The man groaned to himself as he slowly opened his eyes and blinked away the blindness that always accompanied staring into the sun. His mind raced to figure out what happened. The fight. The Ministry. Bellatrix. The cold hands of death circling his being.

"So this is hell, is it?" Sirius muttered to himself and made to stand. He stumbled a few times before he managed to right himself. "Not such a hot place after all." He stood straight. His body screamed in protest, but he was able to will himself forward. As he neared the end of the alley, the familiar sounds of happy, excited people grew louder and louder. Diagon Alley. It was Diagon Alley, complete, whole, and unbroken.

"You alright, there?" A passerby called out. The man wore a crimson robe. An Auror.

Sirius swallowed roughly, why was he not being arrested?

"Sir, are you alright? You look like you've slept the night away with a bottle of firewhiskey. Might be a good time to head on home and give it a rest." The Auror suggested.

Sirius could only nod. "I'll... I'll do that."

It was surreal. He moved through the alley unnoticed, ignored by everyone. A spare paper, one that had been carelessly thrown away caught his eye and he picked it up carefully from the ground. Had anyone been watching, they would have noted the pale many going a more ghostly white, his eyes widening comically, and the pulse along his neck becoming more pronounced as something he read in the paper caught his attention.

The date of the paper read, "1 September, 1971"

He would have stared at the paper had the scream of pain not brought him out of his deep logic loop. His head jerked up as did his wand as several black cloaked figures appeared in the middle of the alley.

RE: The the Veil (citizenanon x shani)

Bellatrix Black walked through the crowd waiting, waiting for something to happen. They weren't on schedule watching and listening for them to arrive. You see young Bellatrix was only a few years out of Hogwarts a twenty year old witch. Young and vibrant, the life still in her eyes. Her long raven curls cascading neatly down her shoulders, no sign of torment had touched her not having yet been a prisoner of Azkaban, her milky flesh stood out from her black dress which fell to her ankles, her tightly laced corset, black velvet armwarmers carcessing her. She was preparing for her upcoming arranged marriage to Rudolphus Lestrange, although not happy with the idea Bellatrix went along with it in order to have her pure blood marriage as well as having her family proud and happy.

After a few unfortante insidents on her families part between her cousin Sirius being sorted into Griffindor and her younger sister Andromeda running off with a mudblood Bellatrix had to make her family proud. Seeing as neither of the boys in the house of Black shared the same values of the family, The eldest daughter of the house of Black was given to a noble cause, seeing as her soon to be husband was already a member.

Bellatrix was mainly creating stratogies to be used, still being trained by Tom himself, getting ready for field missions but though she had earned her Dark Mark she hadn't earned her robe and mask just yet. Wanting to be in his inner circle to make her noble house proud. Though it was tough seeing as Tom was looking for strong males at the time Bellatrix was the only female in the ranks, making her have to work twice as hard as any of them to keep her place.

Hearing the painful scream Bellatrix turned and looked to see them, they had arrived.

There was a lifetime of rage built up in Sirius Black. In that very instant, it all came to a head. Years in Azkaban for things he did not to. Years suffering without his best friend. The torment and hatred that his godson was forced to go through. Sirius stalked forward and brandished his wand silently.

The crowds of people deserted the streets quickly. Apparently they all knew what was happening and did not want to have anything to do with this group of terrorists. Several Aurors ran forward, but were cut down quickly by the people in black.

Sirius flicked his wand and watched in some satisfaction as one of the black masked figures was thrown violently backwards, his head snapping back with the force of a train as the silent bombarda spell struck home. Had he been close enough to hear, he would have been pleased to hear the loud snap.

The others, five in total, turned and focused on the man that fought back. As one, they began to fire on his position. Sirius did not wait and maneuvered out of the line of fire to take cover behind some conveniently stacked crates.

Bellatrix looked frantically as someone was opening fire on the group that wasn't planned, that wsn't supposed to happen. WHo was this man who dared to fire at the death eater's. Her expression matched those who were running for there lives seeing as Bellatrix wasn't out in the open as a member of the group she fit in with the others, while her fellow members knew of course. Bellatrix went to hide near by puling out her wand watching the scene take place sure she knew plenty of hexes and curses but it wasn't her current mission to fight openly unless real danger began.

This one man had skills and the nerve to stand up to them, but he was out numbered, it was no doubt he would fall. He may have taken out the one but no way would he defeat the rest by himself. It's not like pure bloods had anything to fear so long as they stayed out of the way or joined them.

Sirius may have forsaken his family, but he had been raised as a Black. He knew the dark spells and did not have the moral issues that others did when employing them. Sirius poked his head out for a moment to gauge his enemies and brought it back in immediately as spell fire attempted to take it off. Wand in hand, he leaned out and let a new spell go. It was a spell that he had only learned from it being cast at him many times by the man he had once considered a mortal enemy, but who he now held in some form of grudging respect mixed with contempt.

The white light of the Sectumsempra curse flew from his wand. One of the Death Eaters, one he did not recognize fell to the curse. At first the man did nothing, but soon was clawing at his chest as damp spots began to penetrate the cloth of his robe. Soon after, drops of blood began to fall to the ground followed quickly followed by larger streams as the cuts spread across the man's body. Sirius saw none of this as he quickly ducked back behind the boxes.

Bellatrix stayed hidden watching all that happened to be able to show Tom in case the others couldn't make it back. Someone would have to inform him of some misterious man who defied them. As if he somehow knew they would be there to attack. Seeing a strange light and another one fall, she watched the effects not knowing what he had been hit with seeing as blood began to pool around him her eyes went wide as she watched. Seeing him fighting againsgt an invisible force as more blood appeared. Bella was making sure she saw everything still but a mere scout not ready just yet for feild missions. This wasn't good they seemed to be losing against one man, whom she didn't recoginze.

As the group of men watched their compatriot bleed out onto the ground, real fear began to wash through them. This was not supposed to happen. People ran. They did not fight back. Already, two of their members were lost.

There was a lull in the fighting as the men took stock of the situation and apparated away. It would not do to lose anymore.

Sirius glances out and noticed everyone had gone. "Cowards!" he snorted. With but a thought, he shifted onto his grim form and trotted out from behind the cover. He stopped in the street and gave a strong sniff. There was something familiar. Deciding to follow his nose, Sirius followed the scent unknowingly towards his cousin.

Bellatrix watched as they apperated away, 'why we running away they should stand and fight.' Bellatrix thought, it wasn't right this wasn't supposed to happen. After a bit seeing that it was safe she left her hiding spotSeeing as people started to return to the streets. Bellatrix continued to look for wedding styles she would like, seeing as she would be forced to marry Rudolphus but at least she could have her dream wedding just with a man she didn't love. Looking for objects or fabrics to decorate wih or wear during the ceremony.

Sirius continued to follow the scent through the alley until he came upon an unfamiliar backside. He sniffed around to make sure this was the person he had been following before huffing a bit to get their attention. Before, as a stray, it had been a sure fire way to get a few scratches and possibly scraps of food. He wanted to see who this rather shapely woman was, but did not think simply jumping on her would be well received. He was a rather large dog after all. During the time he had followed her, his mind was actively putting pieces together. The date... the fact he had gone through the veil... the fact that some of these stores had been destroyed where he had come from... it all added up to something unbelievable, but apparently possible. Time travel.

Bellatrix didn't even wan to really think of the wedding but she had to make her family proud so everything had to be perfect which was the only reasion why she cared. Upin hearing a huff thinking it was some skin head harassing her which was was used to but it was annoying none the less. Turning around she looked to see no man there hardly anyone there at all, looking down to see a large dog. Cocking an eyebrow, "Well Hello there, where'd you come from?" She asked obviously the dog wouldn't anwser her. "You're probrably hungry huh?" Bella questioned, her face looked cold a moment then she smiled, "Let me see what I have hm." speaking friendly to the creature before her. Digging into her endless bag she pulled out a few cookies and cake samples, and half of her left over sandwich from lunch. Kneeling down she also pulled out a disposible bowl. Placing what bits she had in the bowl, "Now, it aint much, but I hope you enjoy it more than I did." She said smiling, Bellatrix always had a soft spot for animals.

Sirius was only momentarily distracted by the sandwich and cake offerings. He recognized this woman now. From her voice to what she looked like. He would never forget what Bellatrix looked like. She was the last thing he could remember seeing as he had been forced through the veil. Even if she were younger, prettier, and did not have the fully crazy look in her eye, Bellatrix was Bellatrix. Sirius barely resisted the urge to bite her. Instead, he grabbed the sandwich gently from the bowl and trotted towards the alley. A few feet away from her, he stopped and looked back before shaking his head towards the alley and moving off again in the hopes that she would follow him. The alley was abandoned and cut off from the rest of the street. This would be the perfect place to talk to his dear cousin.

Bellatrix was still untouched by the cruelity of the world yes she was surrounded by death, and training for the up coming war. But she was aso sheltered being a Black having the world at her feet.Watching him move away from her usually animals came to her it was strange. Having no idea what her future self had done, for in her current state she was secretly trying to help and be supportive of her cousin even if he was a Griffindor, unfortunely with there family during reuions and such she had to be wicked towards him, though she would send things while he was at school until the war grew worse and little by little Bella would lose herself. Sirus was only 12 at this point and none of the family was there for him but he was still family still blood. Those were little things no one knew remembering times before Howarts seeing as they had an 8 year difference and Bellatrix used to babysit her siblings and cousins prefering to watch them over a house elf watching them.

Noticing him take the sandwich and go further into the alley way she looked around seeing as he wanted her to follow him. Thinking about it knowing she still had a lot to do plus she needed to get back to the Dark Lord. Bellatrix stood up holding her bag close and keeping her wand close to her, she followed severl feet behind the dog.

When Bellatrix took the bait and began to follow him, Sirius walked along further into the alleyway and turned a corner. He had to be quick. He did not know exactly how well trained his cousin was at this point, but he was damn sure not going to risk getting killed again when he could simply ambush her. He popped into his human form and raised his wand. As soon as she rounded the corner, he would fire. Two spells kept cycling through his mind. He needed to knock her out then bind her as tight as he could. He had considered kiling her outright, but she was till useful. She would still have knowledge of this world.

He could always dispose of her later.

When she turned the corner, he began to rain spells down at her in his effort to put her down painlessly and safely.

Bellatrix followed behind the dog who took her sandwich wondering what he was leading her towards. She had followed animals before and usually lead to families cats with kittens, dogs with puppies, even rabbits with there bunnies. Tending to bring them home not that anyone really cared. When Bellatrix turned the corner to see a man with his wand out he quickly grabbed hers, her eyes were wide as she attempted to defelct what was being thrown at her. Bellatrix began to fight back seeing as she was under attack she wanted to press her wand to her dark mark but in fear of being hit she continued to block and deflect. Trying to stun him at the same time so she could get away. In one of her attempts it left her open to an attack making Bellatrix a target. Getting hit Bella fell back and was knocked out cold.

Sirius's chest heaved as he looked down at the unconscious Bellatrix. She almost looked sweet now. Using his wand, he split her sleeve open to reveal the dark mark and frowned for just a moment before binding her tightly with coiled rope. While this had been a good place to fight her, it would be bad for interrogation purposes, but there was one safe place... He grabbed the unconscious witch as well as her wand and apparated away.

He arrived in a shabby looking basement. Merlin, even before Remus destroyed the place it looked like a wreck. Sirius set to work locking the room down so the witch could not escape. He sealed the doors and windows and even managed a ward to prevent her apparating away. Convinced that he had the upper hand, Sirius transferred her to a transfigured chair and retied the ropes to hold her in place.

"Ennervate." He cast lazily and when she began to come to he spoke. "Hello, Bellatrix. It's such a... pleasure to see you again." Sirius stood before her looking just as he had during the fight in the Department of Mysteries as well as the fight in the Alley. An unhidden hatred for her burned in his eyes as he waited for her response.

Bellatrix looked as if she was sleeping with how peaceful she was in her unconscious state. It wasn't Bella's choice to get the Dark Mark but her parents and she loyally obeyed. Bellatrix had no idea of what was going on while she was appearated to lord only knows where. Still knocked out as she was transported from the alley way.

After awhile and once restrianed Bella came too her head was pounding her eyes swinted as she opened them, her hand tried to move to hold her throbing forehead, but her hands were tied. Her head turned to where the voice came from, "Where am I...? Who the Bloody Hell are you?" She asked blinking as her vision came back looking upon the older man in front of her. "You...it was you in town...and in the alley...What do you want? Your aura says you're from the Noble House of Black but I know not who you are..." She wasn't sure if he was a threat or not his aura read as family but that didn't make him friendly.

"Oh, I dare say you don't know me. Not really anyway." Sirius effortlessly conjured a chair and sat down across from her. He peered at her closely. "I know all about you though, Bellatrix. You graduated top of the Slytherin class from Hogwarts. You're a loyal family girl. Your parents love and dote on you. Perhaps due to your sister running off with a muggle." Sirius sat back and tapped his wand on his leg as he thought about her. "When you were sixteen, you lied to your parents to keep your little cousin out of trouble. He would have likely been tortured had you not taken the blame."

Sirius did have some memories of his cousin. Just hazy ones that were left because the dementors had not sucked them all away.

"Now, though, you serve someone else." Sirius cocked his head to the side. He had always been curious about what drove Bellatrix to Voldemort. "You will betray your family to follow someone that is no more than an uppity halfblood. Why?"

Bellatrix watched him listening to him trying to hide the fear she had not knowing nor understanding what was going on. Tilting her head when he claimed to know her. That was true Bellatrix was top of her Slytherin class, she happened to be head girl and Prefect as well. Yes her parents did spoil her being the first born, when he commented on her sister running away her heart broken again trying to block out that memory Bella loved her sister why would she have ru off with a muggle born? Looking away taking a deep breath no one knew about that besides family. Turning her attention towards him again as he brought up her taking the blame for something her cousin did, how could he know that only her Sirius know what really happened, granted for her that was only four years ago. "How do you know all of that?"

Blinking at him when he said she served another, was he talinking about Tom? Bellatrix had a few reasons for following him though some haven't fully happened yet. Bellatrix held her family above all else and would never doubt or betray them. "How dare you, I would never betray my Family! Tourjours Pur!" She snapped trying to move in the restraints. "How dare you say such about him! You wouldn't understand...." Bellatrix said at first offended then her voice becae solem. "What does it matter to you Why must you know?" She asked curiously.

"As you said, I'm a Black." Sirius leaned forward, "What has old Tom Riddle told you about your Dark Mark there, Bellatrix? Did he tell you how it connects to your very soul giving him the ability to control you through it?" Sirius shrugged. "You have given an insane, crazy man access to your very being. He's a man that tortures and kills his his own followers. If you did not betray your family, whomever sponsored you for _that_ " Sirius pointed at her mark. "Betrayed you and sold you to a murderous asshole."

Why did he even care? He should have killed her and moved on, but each time he thought about it, the idea of killing someone who might not have done anything yet made him sick to his stomach. He could not truly condemn her for something she had not yet done.

Bellatrix looked at her Dark Mark, when he asked about it. "I know wha it is, it connects us it's a sign of our unity, a symbol of our faith, He can connact us threw it when he needs us..." Bellatrix stated. "He is not insane he's rational, and he will lead us to victory..." Bellatrix attempted to defend him though she inside herself knew this was rather rediculous but she had no choice. "He would never harm us, he cares about us which is why we've signed up for a better future." Her heart beat begain to increase. "If you were who you say you are you'd very well know who signed me up for this...My parents...my fiance...Plus I am the eldest child of the house of Black...the boys are too young...Sirius is but 12 and just started Hogwarts, being sorted into Griffindor is already tough on him, he doesn't need this too...I have too keep him safe...or no one else will..." She stated with a sigh, "...and Rugulus isn't even in Hogwarts yet he's only ten..." She replied then thought again, "Plus with Dromeda gone...and Cissy couldn't handle herself in this aspect...I'm the only one left...I must keep them safe and make the family proud..."

Bellatrix felt like she was on the verge of tears trying to hold them back tears were a sign of weakness and she wasn't weak. She couldn't afford to be weak.

"Fuck the family. Cygnus and Druella can throw themselves in a pit for all I care." Sirius shook his head. "Listen to yourself. You're connected to him. You put _your_ faith in that man instead of standing up proud of yourself." Sirius was pacing now. Obviously the thought of Voldemort having his way with his family members was enough to drive him to drinking if he had a drink. Sirius caught the look in her eyes and sat back down. "But you know all that already don't you?" Sirius scooted closer to her so that his familiar eyes stared into hers for a moment. He reached out and tilted her head so that they were looking directly at him. "Just what did they do to you, Trixie?"

Out of context the question made no sense, but Sirius was having trouble connecting this Bellatrix to that of the one he had been fighting.

Bellatrix jumped as he said to fuck the family, Hiding her face behind her vibrant raven curls covering her face. A fire growing within her, "And if I stood up what would it get me!? Dishonor for the whole family...death, torment, for the others what would you know?" Bellatrix snapped as tears welled and began to fall. Falling silent when he asked her if she already knew the things he was telling her. hanging her head down. Bellatrix's sad eyes looked up into his as he tilted her head. Hearing his question she looked at him curiously he knew her secret nickname, only two people could call her that with out her wrath. That was Narcissa and the other was Sirius.

"How...How do you know that name..." She whispered looking into his eyes, trying to understand him as much as he was trying to figure out what had happened to her.

What made Bellatrix the way she was hadn't happened yet, she had yet to feel the Dark Lords wrath to feel the painful sting of the Cruciatus Curse, which would break her will over and over again, the dislike she'd come to have for her husband bringing out the love for Voldemort, then her prison sentance which would effect her a great deal All of this had yet to happen.

"Yes. Stand up to your parents. Stand up to the family. You are a powerful witch, charismatic and popular." He poked her on the chest. "You could have been a leader. Could have saved Regulus. Could have saved Sirius. If Tom Riddle comes to power, what do you think he's going to do to Sirius? He's a Gryffindor and best friends with a Potter of all people. He's a dead kid walking." Sirius shook his head. "But... it doesn't have to turn out that way."

Sirius sat back down and quietly watched her.

"I CAN'T....You don't understand...no one will ever understand..." She snapped watching as he poked her. "What do you mean 'by Saved Rugulus' He's at home safe and sound...Siruis is safe within Hogwarts walls... I am doing what I have to for them if I don't they have no one...as does Cissy..." She stated she had become a death eater to save her family she didn't understand what he was taking about. "What do the Potter's have anything to do with this? You're not making any sense...No not as long as I live, Sirius and what's left of the family will be safe!" He was stating to scare her not understanding what he was talking about.

Bellatrix winced as if in pain, a burning sensation in her arm. "He's calling....He's angry I have to go..." She stated looking around trying to fight with the rope that had her tied there.

"No." Sirius said. "No, you're not going. He's angry. Two of his circle died today. I probably wasn't lucky enough to get dear old Lucius, but I'm happy to say he's two short now." Sirius fingered his wand and rubbed his chin.

"Do you not agree with your mother and father's hatred of muggles and muggleborns?" Sirius asked. "Do you honestly hold the Black family, not your parents, not any one individual member, but the _family_ above all else? You would swear your undying loyalty to the family?"
