RE: Pompeii spin off - me and rskde

War came over the land and the young princess was told that she needed to be moved to help protect her posterity. The kingdom was invaded more than once and her father had been killed from one of them. Her brother was now acting king and he required that she be moved. "It's dangerous, you're not staying here. You're going to the next kingdom over. There you will marry the price and continue our bloodline. I will act as King here and hopefully stop this war.
Her brother was foolish to think she would just instantly fall for a man because he told her to. She went none the less though, assigned several guards, one of which was a young gladiator. She strained her neck out of the horse carriage just to see the man. He was quite amazing looking she'd never seen a gladiator that close before. She leaned back into the carriage and waited. It was a couple days into the trip and bandits attacked her caravan. During the altercation they had come close to getting to her, but in the way stood her gaurds.

A young boy, nearly the age of seventeen by the time the next moon rises, he lives in a small village outside of the great Pompeii where he is expected to work the lands that his fathers had created for him to one day take the responsibility of farming. But now he is one of the princesses personal guards, his heart beats out of his chest as he stands guard around the carriage with the other guards. He spins his spatha before beating it against his shield.

He wears a helmet that covers most of his face, more Greek style than anything and armor that leaves his chest bare, as gladiators really never received much protection. The first bandit swings at him, the boy raises his shield and feels the vibrating force of the bandit's sword crashing down on to his metal shield. He spins and recovers quickly, flipping his spatha again before striking against the bandit, his fighting style is odd as he uses his left hand for his sword and his right for his shield, so the swing from his spatha comes from the left, cleanly slicing along the bandits stomach. The boy moves on to the last bandit on his side, who strikes at him with ferociousty. He raises his shield before bashing it against the nose of the man, and then stabbing through his chest once the man had fallen, a spray of red mist erupting from the man's chest.

He jogs to the other side of the carriage, where the fight had already ended, his chest is covered in blood and his spatha is unclean, he spins it again before sliding it into the sheath at his side. He leans against the carriage and takes his helmet off, running a hand down his face with a sigh.

A warrior, through and through, she couldn't watch him kill and averted her eyes as the bandits were slain. It was the first time she'd see his helmet off and she wasn't disappointed. She felt quite bad for looking at such a man in this way, seeing as he was a village man called to defend her. She pulls a rag from her box and hands it to him. "clean yourself up soldier..." She said softly. A very slight smile to that. She was so protected at her castle that she wished sometimes she could get out, do something different, be someone different. The men were still transporting her to the new place where she would be forced to marry a man she had no interest in. She was a princess after all, and during this time princesses had little to no choice in what they were to do, their king, usually a father or brother or husband, had all the say. She found herself wishing for more, hoping for more, needing more. Needing him. She wiped that thought from her mind. No one was around her where he was leaning on the carriage, she smiled at him slightly and pulled back into the carriage as they started up the horses once again.

He takes the rag and nods, not looking her in the eyes, he is of no social standard to do that anyway. He cleans the blood of the fallen from himself and then grabs his spatha from its sheathe and runs the blade across the rag, he disposes of it as to not bother royalty with his problems and he continues walking once the caravan was on its way. He didn't want to be here, being forced to fight for Rome when he didn't want to was alright, but the fact that they barely trained him and expected him to be a slave of entertainment for this princess and whoever else has the drachmas to afford such a spectacular, so of course they trained him, and one day he might just earn his freedom, become an actual legionary instead of a petty fighter who doesn't even have the status for a chest plate much less a non Greek helmet, even though he enjoyed the feeling of it, the helmet just seemed to be spitting on him, on the fact he is a Roman, as if whoever had given it to him had marked him lesser than a Roman, a Greek.
