Vampires, Demons and Monsters, oh my...(With Okami)

It was late at night, and the crescent moon was blocked out by clouds high above a forest where many trees took root for hundreds of years. It was late spring and the weather was fair. Rain had fallen only a week ago. The wind breezed along, and crickets were chirping along with the other nightly creatures that roamed around at this time.

While these wilds remained mostly untouched, there did exist one small village at its edge. This small community had come to settle here around two generations ago, crossing the nearby mountains until carving out a niche at the forests edge. Hunting was good, and the only real danger was the occasional wild animal such as a wolf.
With the exception of hard winters, this small village did fairly well. There were many families, and even the occasional traveling trader came around.

outside this village though there was no settlement for a good thirty miles, and that was being generous. If anyone wanted to go anywhere, it was best to follow the dirt road to the river and head up from there to the town.

This particular night was very peaceful, more so than usual. Even the ominous mountains seemed more lovely than normal.
