Hello, people!
After receiving questions about character creation, i decided to post here a sort of mini initial guide for characters, in order to kick start characters and leave the details for PMs. I guess this way will be much more easy tailoring characters for Sisterhood.
What is it about?
Sisterhood is about characters arriving a convent to join as novices - aspirant nuns - for a religion dedicated to Zarina, Goddess of healing and virtue, under a fantasy/medieval low magic setting. The back scene, at other hand, is a kinky one, about these nuns in conspiring and corruption. Players may expect lots of abuse, humiliation, spanking and lesbianism. With such things in mind, its nice knowing what sort of character could be framed to this setting and that some demands must be satisfied, or at least, adapted. Males, for example, are possible. Bu the player must create a HUGE argument to be around and understand that this character is under special circumstances.
First wave of character creation
The good first steps on creating a character for Sisterhood or any RP is define the characters essence. What are you interested on playing and why? These two questions are articulated.
Lets say Miss X is a player creating a character. She is really in the mood of shoe fetish. She loves it and would like to explore this into a RP. She decided that Sisterhood is a nice ground. Then, she comes up with the general concept of her character: A young lady who secretly has shoes fascination and found her pleasure connected to it intimately.
Then, Miss X decides to call her character "Cindy" and that Cindy should be young - perhaps 20 years old - and as Miss X want to make the convent a sort of obvious option, Miss X states that Cindy lives at Haygrove and were born there.
After a little of thinking, Miss X finds that connecting Cindy to shoes would be very easy if Cindy is daughter of a shoemaker. From now, Miss X decides to call her character "Cindy Shoemaker", because Cindy is the daughter and assistant of a shoemaker. She is not sure how big Cindy's family is, but Miss X is not concerned about that at the moment.
As Miss X wants to play a naive character, she decides Cindy had no sexual life, still virgin and all she knows, she found by herself. Cindy is innocent and knows very few about the world, living her life - from sunrise to sunset making and repairing shoes. She decides that, somehow, Cindy was excited about exotic shoes. Specially those on women and that she is crazy about wearing and watching women wearing them. It turns her on and Miss X decided Cindy had spent hours alone at the workshop, dreaming about that at the point she found her self pleasing connected to it.
Now, Miss X will make a list of Cindy's traits. They are nothing except things that are true about Cindy. She places:
- 20 years old
- Born at Haygrove
- Shoe Maker
- Shoe Fetish
- Innocent
- Virgin
Next, Miss X decides its a nice point to decide Cindy's look. She wants to use a nice picture she say on internet, and fills the gaps like weight and height to add flavor to her character.
Once done, Miss X decides to move to Aspects. Aspects are like traits. But as traits are truth about a character, Aspects are truths that are capable on interfering in the story. So, Miss X will pick carefully the two Aspects Cindy must have. Good Aspects should be versatile, having good and bad approaches. Its ok if a given character have Aspects dedicated to good or bad approaches, as long as it has both. But a prefect Aspect may be used both ways - to help the character and to complicate its life.
Looking back to the traits, Miss X decides that Cindy's most important facets are connected to shoes and her innocence. She hopes her character be fooled somehow and she loves that! The good thing about Aspects is that they are conceptual. If Cindy were arrogant but also a genius, she could have both as Aspects, but also could place both together in a "Gregory House style" as "Arrogant Genius" Aspect.
So, as 20 years old is not a good Aspect, Miss X moves to the innocent stuff and to the Shoes stuff. Haygrove would also be a nice connection to the past and Miss X decides to mix things in new concepts: "Haygrove Shoemaker" connects Cindy to the city and to her art. Also, miss X mixes the innocence and the obvious place for Cindy in the game as "Innocent Novice". Miss X turns to her most important point and creates "Shoe Fetish", stating how Cindy loves shoes, admires and connect it to her sexual behavior. Then, Miss X looks again and realizes she has 3 Aspects, but Cindy may just keep 2 as Aspects. Whatever she drops, it may be kept as traits. So, Miss X reworks Cindy's concepts and traces a new plan.
Miss X decides that Haygrove is not as important as the rest for her character. Cindy's provincial side is not a highlight she would like to explore. Then, she rearrange things as "Innocent Novice" and "Its all about shoes", stating her intimate connection to shoes. But, what happens to Aspects and how Aspects placed this way alters the game?
"Innocent Novice" may be used bu Miss X to pose Cindy's connections to the temple. Also, people who tends protecting the weak may be touched by Cindy's innocence. At other hand, the novice thing may be used against Cindy - if not by faith, at least by a sort of "expected behavior".
The same goes to "Its all about shoes". Cindy may be temped to collect shoes, acquire a nice shoe and the like. A fancy shoe is as much important as a nice face, so she may be influenced by that. She will never be ashamed or offhanded if sex is connected to her beloved shoes. She knows all about it and have a creative thought about new shoes. She may take advantage to repair, create and solve problems about her loved ones.
Now Miss X is pleased an ready to pick Cindy's skills. She may pick up to six level one skills or four level one and one level two skills. Miss X decided that for Cindy's background, Cindy should have a skill named "Shoemaker" level 2. That's fine. Apart from hat, a touch of secrecy would be needed on Cindy's past, and Stealth came into play. As Miss X dropped the Haygrove connections on Aspects, she thinks that Contacts level 1 would create some background connections to the local people. Also as shoemakers are artisans, Miss X gives Cindy a level 1 Resources, so the girl would have, perhaps, a few shoes to play with. There's one skill left, but as Miss X is not sure, she will decide later, wondering if Notice would be a nice skill for Cindy.
After that process, Cindy is ready and Miss X is almost ready to start playing.
