Fixers (Beautiful_Disgrace and I)

"She wasn't that bad." Aernir told her as he joined her in the tiltrotor. "None of them were really...they were just a couple of parents concerned for their daughter, and she is just a wild spirit not wanting to be tamed..." Yep, he was doing that thing. The thing that he always did. Yeah, she was good business for them, only if Aernir could continue to capture her and bring her home. He really wasn't sure if he wanted to rescue a girl who didn't need rescuing.

"Don't even start," Luce muttered, glaring at him. "Don't even." she warned. "Because I will shoot you, I've done it before. And I have things that will break through that fancy little under armor you got, that's not our problem." she said, as the rotor started to take off. "Say it with me: Not. Our. Problem. There's no money in being the good guys."

"There's not money in injuring me either, Luce. I'm your one and only partner. The more level headed one. Put a bullet through me and we won't be able to do missions for a while. Unless you take Wizard with ya. It's not our problem, but everyone deserves freedom. Even when they are born into a wealthy family." Aernir scratched the back of his head, smoothing out his black locks of hair. For Gods sakes, he just felt bad for her.

"I can work alone just fine," Luce muttered. "I did before, in fact. Until you and Wizard decided to put your fucking dicks in my ear. Those people don't want freedom, Aernir. They think they want freedom, they don't know what it is. You seriously think a Corporate Mage has any idea of what it's really like to live?"

"Of course not, that's probably why she wants to get out and see the world. Not every person born with a silver spoon in their mouths want it, Luce. Look, I'm not saying I'm gonna bust her out of there or anything. It's just...healthy to show compassion once in a while. You should try it some time." He was definitely dropping this. He wouldn't win this argument.

"My compassion is me not shooting you in the dick, which doesn't have dermal plating," Luce said dryly. "You sob more about feelings than a woman does, you know that? Nobody has a choice in where they're stuck, they're on their own if they want to find another way. I'm sure as fuck not helping little miss Mage break free from her gilded cage. She'd probably take one look at our place and politely vomit in her mouth."

Aernir sighed softly. Better quit while he was ahead. He didn't want to have to get a new dick. "Maybe. I agree, she should find her own way. However, there is a chance that we might have to stop her from that. Which just doesn't sit well with me." He took a drag of cigarette and leaned back against his seat. Luce could be even more of a downer than he was at times...

"Boo fucking hoo," Luce said with a snort. "There's a lot of shit that we do that isn't pretty, if you don't like it, stop doing it. World's a shitty place 'partner', we don't add any more shit than anyone else does, at least we kill a few shitheads on the way. Not my problem if she wants to be a romantic and see the real world. Only my problem if I get paid to care."

"Yeah, yeah. Whatever you say, Luce." Women. Well, specifically her...he was never good at talking to them. At least that's what she said anyway. Aernir was still awkward Yamato in certain ways. He really needed to stop remember shitty stuff at shitty times. His eyes gazed out of the window as they were about to land at their hideout. Home sweet home, where Aernir could relax and meditate.

"You always say that, and then we have this stupid ass conversation over and over again," Luce sighed, slipping out of the tiltrotor as she waved to Daniels. Reliable guy, quiet...didn't talk much, just liked flying shit as far as she knew. "For a Yakuza, you sure are a moody little bitch. Why don't you just do some calligraphy or whatever it is Asians do when they want to contemplate the universe?"

Home sweet home, an apartment complex that had been...re-purposed. Wizard knew his way around shit, and money paid for a lot...but it didn't stop the fact that they were in a shitty building in the shitty part of New York. Which was most of it, really...unless you were rich. Gated communities, high rise condos...the works.

Aernir's response was a simple sigh. He always thought women liked sensitive men, but the only woman he had been around with hated them. Not that he really thought he was sensitive, he just felt strongly about some things. Keeping an innocent locked up was wrong, but he could only hope Ashlotte could convince her parents to let her free. She was twenty four years old and still being held on a tight leash...Aernir would have gone crazy if he had stayed with his parents passed eighteen.

"I'll be meditating, that's what us Asians do I suppose. Nice job today, Luce." Her attitude, he had long since gotten used to. If she had really hated him, she would have put a bullet in his head by now.

"Yeah yeah..." Luce mumbled, hands in her pockets. "Hey...don't let that prissy bitch get in your head, alright?" she said. "We don't need that, Aernir, we don't. Flush it out of your system, we don't have the money to start doing the right thing without pay." He was reliable, and good at what he did...Luce didn't honestly understand why he cared about some things so much, but people like her never understood that kind of thing.

"Would you like me to replace her in my thoughts with you instead?" Aernir winked at her and then didn't wait for an answer. He turned his back and head towards his room. He'd probably get some shit for that, but it was always fun playing with fire from time to time.

Luce grimaced at him, but said nothing. Jerkoff. "...You're better off finding porn," she muttered, heading to her own room. She...was not a woman to sexualize for a number of reasons. Either way, since it was past the old man Wizards' bedtime, there wasn't much left to do for her but to clean her gun, check her ammo and see what she needed before she went to bed herself. Yeah, she was a bitter, angry, violent bitch of a person...but she had plenty of good reasons to be.

Days passed, work continued as usual. People got shot, people died...money was passed out. Same old, same old. They were frequent in their work, which was a nice change of pace. But Wizard got a new one.

"Whoa, hey guys," Wizard said, sitting up in his seat as he used the finger display to flick through the message. "We got a big one here..." Wizard was...probably about as normal as normal could be in their line of work. An older man, who probably needed to pay more attention to what he ate, had no kids, but an interesting dating life. He wasn't really scary looking, but he had a spine of steel that surprised Luce on more than a few occasions.

Luce walked over curiously, wearing a pair of long baggy pants and a tank-top that showed off her tattoo sleeves. Wasn't every day that Wizard got surprised by something.

"Huh." She murmured. That address seemed really familiar, an ID chip removal? Someone wanted off the grid?

Aernir walked over to Wizard and Luce, he himself in his normal clothing. Jeans and nothing else. He never really did like shirts, at least when he was home. His hands slipped into his pockets as he looked over Wizards shoulder. "That's peculiar. Don't see that very often...someone must be in big trouble." The address didn't ring any bells with him, but he had a terrible memory when it came to that stuff..

"...Come on you two, seriously?" Wizard grumbled, Luce glanced at Aernir, who looked as puzzled as she did. "It's the rich girl!"

"...That narrows it down," Luce said dryly. "Super helpful, Mr. Wizard."

"Ash?" He edged further. "You know, 'Little Miss Corporate Mage'?"

"What? No way," Luce muttered, scanning over the address again. "You've got to be kidding, that bitch is really doing it?"

"Paying an asston of money, too," Wizard murmured. "I'd guess just about all she has."

"Ashlotte Van Agteren?" Aernir hadn't thought of that name since the night he saved her. He blinked a few times and then grinned. "Look at that, Luce. She really does want to be free, and she's finding her own way out of that gilded cage. It's gonna pay us money to help her, so why not?"

His red eyes then looked at Wizard. "Uhh, we can do that right? I actually got mine removed by a professional...but it would just be a crying shame if all that money didn't go into our pockets."

"Oh, we can definitely do it," Luce said with a gleeful little grin. "You leave that to me, pretty boy...we'll save your princess." Luce said, heading to her room to get her gear. Wizard rubbed his forehead with a faint sigh.

"There is a problem," he reminded. "...She's still at her house. This is going to take some doing..." he said, rubbing his forehead. "This will not be a clean break."

"Probably state of the art alarms and a small security task force. Especially around her. I am assuming she wants this to be as clean as possible right? No deaths?" Aernir asked as he looked closer at the request. Would be something boring for Luce...but he couldn't blame her. She had probably grown up with whoever was in that task force.

"It doesn't specify, actually..." Wizard murmured. "I'd bet she'd prefer it, but given she's a Corporate Mage...maybe she knows the risks?" Wizard said, shrugging. "You won't be able to just fly her out, you're going to have to do it the hard way...but she's offering five hundred thousand each. That's a lot of cash...but it might not be worth it, you know." This would not be a subtle job, it would be in the limelight...Wizard was as his namesake said, but there were some things he couldn't do. It'd be a battle on his end, he didn't want to think what it was on theirs.

"Hmm." Aernir wasn't sure what it was about Ashlotte, but he really wanted to help her and the money was an excuse. There was something about the way she carried herself that made her stand out from all the other women he saved. Ashlotte was..different and he had this feeling about her...

"It's worth it. Accept the request, Wizard. I have faith in you and Luce. We'll get it done." He told him with a smile. Aernir didn't seemed to worried about it, but then again he was always willing to do risky jobs every once in a while. The riskier it was, the more of a chance he'd finally be able to meet his match. Luce wanted to go, and Wizard was going to be here anyway. So it's not like he was making them do anything.

Wizard sighed, rubbing his head. "You always say that...and whose the one doing the most work?"

"Guess we should have bought tampons when we came home last night," Luce muttered dryly, clipping on her tac-vest. A rather wicked looking machine hung on her back. She obviously wasn't expecting an easy ride when she was dressed like a corporate commando. "You're the one not getting shot, you'd probably piss yourself if you did."

"One time," Wizard groused. "One time, and you never let it go."

"It wasn't even near you," Luce rolled her eyes. "And you still yelped like a dog who got his tail stomped on."

"Awww, let that go, Luce. Every time you bring that up you injure the mans ego. He's just not the combat type, which is fine. He's much better suited as the voice in our heads." Aernir said before he wandered off to go get ready himself. When he went into his bedroom, he put on another white undershirt and put on the holster that held all his knives. He looked at the katana on his wall and sighed softly before taking a pack of cigarettes off his desk. Maybe today was the day. But if he died, he really hoped that he could free Ashlotte before he went.

He came back out not very long after he left. "I'm ready when you are, Luce."

"Got a plan, Wizard?" Luce said idly. "We doing this the dirty way?"

"We're talking all kinds of firewalls and encryption here," Wizard sighed, accepting the contract. "Even if she does give us a backdoor...chances are, it's not going to be pretty. Are you sure you two want to do this?"

"Are you kidding?" Luce snorted. "Starting a gunfight in a rich neighborhood is a wet dream."

"Ugh..." Wizard grumbled. "Fine...you'll have to do this on your own, I'll be able to get you a ride, and I'll need some time to decrypt their security systems to give you a breather. My advice? Don't expect a lot. These rich idiots have more encryption than a virgin nun's chastity belt. It'll be a tedious mess to get through it all...and...I hope you realize, I doubt her parents are going to accept this willingly."

"Better get more ammo then," Luce smirked.

"Make sure that ammo is non lethal. We'll kill anyone else, but there might be a chance Ashlotte will want to see her parents again. I doubt she wants to do that while they are in caskets. I'm serious, Luce. Everyone else is fair game, but not her parents. Even if they have weapons, I doubt the know how to use them." Aernir was serious. He wanted this to be as painless for Ashlotte as possible. Non lethal force could easily take out the Van Agterens.
