Warrn touched the worn out cloth that covered his right eye with a gloved had. He could still temember the day he lost it in vivid detail as if it didn't happen so long ago. His hand fell to his side as he thought of his sister Aurora. They had been orphans ever since they were toddlers. Aurora was the smart and cunning one, and he the brave and strong one. The two had never been separated until the day came were they had grown out of the orphanage. Warren had been forced into knighthood and had no idea where his sister had gone. He'd hoped she was not in a brothal or dead. He knew the latter of the two would not be true, she was to smart to fall victim to anyone.
He felt the cloth once more, remembering the kid who took his eye. Warren stood in the corner of the ballroom. The ball was in full swing. He had been hired by a wealthy couple to stand in as a body guard as theirs had fallen I'll.
Some would call him a mercenary, but ultimately he had been seamed a rogue knight. Warren knew after the ball his services would be no longer needed. As the party ended, he waited for his payment. Once received warren mounted his steed,a pitch black stallion. He made his way down the cobble stone road. It was late, most of the cities lights had been put out as most were in bed or heading home. His pace was slow as he had no other job in need of him.
The city had turned into forest as the road turned to a dirt path. Warren heard noices all around him. Being a skilled tracker and hunter he could tell and animal from a human. Warren closed his eye to highten his hearing. Once he located the target he opened his eye to a woman in the middle of the path. She was clad in golden armor with silver claws on one hand and a glove on the other. Her hair though pulled back was a shade of white. A tribal symbols over her left eye stood proudly on creamy white skin. Warrens eyes grew wide as did the girl's. He quickly dismounted knowing exactly who it was. His own armor clicked together as he made his way to her.
Aurora couldn't believe it, it had been so long since she has seen her brother. She had bounced from city to another. Aurora had been taken in by the English court. Where a man trained her in the art of killing. After her training, aurora served as the English queen'a top assassin. She called it the queen'a dirty work. Aurora knew she did not exist according to English court. Queen Elizabeth would never claim to have a killer.
There had been many of times when she was sent to kill queen Elizabeth's cousin, queen Mary or scots. All those times queen Mary was always shadowed by a man in black. After many times of failure, aurora had a choice. Be exiled of English court or beheading. Knowing she would be hunted down as if she was a wild animal she chose exile.
She had been hired to find a man who cannot die to protect an elf creature. Now she was standing in front of her brother shocked to see him alive. Warren touched a gloved hand on her cheek. "Dear sister how I have missed you." He stated as he smiled slightly. Aurora smiled back pushing his hand away only to hug him. "Last I heard you were dead" she pushed at his chest "why haven't you sent word you were alive?" She continued furious with her brother. "As much as I would love to catch up I am looking for a man. A man who cannot die." She told him starting to watch past him. Warren spoke up without turning to her. "Look no farther sister. I am the man you seek." He confessed. He heard her foot steps stop only then did he turn to her. Aurora turned her head to the side then whipped her self around with wide eyes. She cleared her throat and began to speak. "I have been hired to protect an elf from English and French courts with a man..." She sighed "with you." She finished. "At what cost?" He asked. He would do the job at a high cost. "The one who hired me said at any cost any thing we may need." She answered. He excepted without hesitation.
Warren mounted his horse as he waited for her. She mounted her steed then met him. They both rode hard to a castle. The ride was silent one. A large case came into view they rode through the iron gates. The two stood and waited for the elf creature to be brought to them. Once the elf was walked to the courtyard to the two, warren and aurora looked at each other with surprised expressions.

Raised in a human orphanage, Verik came to be teased for his pointed ears, and purplish skin. It didn't help that his eyes were red either, but what could he do. He spent years in that place, wishing someone would take him away. But instead time dragged on until his "thirteenth" birthday, when he came into his powers. He would get random headaches, or dizzy spells, and than something bad would happen. He caused explosions, fires, and even flooded the Orphanage's basement. The worst incident was when he hurt someone. Like every other day the kids piced on him, but a pair of new kids, one male one female, arrived at the orphanage. The male made them stop, while the girl went to help him after one of the older boys hurled a rock that had struck Verik in his eye. Whn the girl helped him stand he started laughing as if mad, and his eyes began blazing with red light, the boy turned to see what was happening, and at that moment their eyes met and one of his eyes suddenly burst from its socket in a fountain of gore. Verik was removed from the orphanage and was taken to a tower devoted to taking in youths gifted with magic that they might learn to control their power. Although this place had dreams for him, to fall into the hands of a ruling court and become a weapon against their opposers. Verik trained hard until the day he was to be handed over to the court that had chosen him, but on the way to the ceremony his guard was attacked by an assassin of the english court. One of the guards had managed to open a secret passage for him to escape. Now on his own, Verik would have the freedom to be himself, instead of someone's punching bag or puppet. He had learned alot from the Tower of Magi, and the most important was that he was not human, but in fact a member of the Fae. Which he planned on finding, seeing as they were believed to be nothing more than stories. He was grabbed by members of the guard as he popped up in the garden, and told that safe passage had been arranged and that his escort was waiting in the front courtyard. As the pair came into view he felt a sense of deja vu at a male/female pairing coming to his aid. But it wasn't until he saw their shocked expressions, and his eye lined up with the covered eye of the male warrior began to burn as if he'd fallen on a burning stick, that he realized it was the same pair.

"Well isn't this a surprise?" aurora stated walking up to the elf. Warren stood where he was refusing to look at him. He never would have agreed to the job if he knew who he was protecting. Aurora saw her brothers reaction. "Don't mind him he is still angry with you for taking his eye." She stated smiling. She missed the kid. He still looked the same as he did back then as the siblings had grown to adult hood. "So tell me how have you been?" She asked. Before she got her answer she was informed that they must leave if they plan to catch the boat. Aurora winked at him "your in good hands dear one, I have been trained in the art of assassins as my brother was trained in the art of knighthood" aurora let out as she turned on her heals.
Warren said nothing only turned to his horse and mounted quickly. Once mounted "can he ride?" He asked the guard next to verik. "Stop being so rude warren!" His sister stated sternly mounting her horse as well. "You can ride with me unless you know how to ride a horse" she turned to verik with kind eyes. Although Aurora was cunning and a killer she had a soft spot for verik. Knowing full well what he is,she still remembered him at give orphanage.

Verik mounted the horse quietly with assistance from Aurora. Absent mindedly rubbing the scar just under his left eye, remembering the day so long ago when his powers had hurt someone, causing him to be taken to the Tower in the first place. He had never ridden a horse before, but he found he quiet enjoyed the sensation of the wind streaming his pale lavender colored hair behind him. They were riding towards the east as far as he could tell, which he found strange. According to the books in the tower nothinglay to the East, but the labrynth like forests said to be plagued with demons. Verik made amental note to ask where they were going when they stopped to make camp. As they rode he went overthe principles of magic in his head, occasionally even going over spells for attack, defense, and survival. He felt a chill at the base of his spine when he looked up to see a platoon of soldiers coming down a hill towards them. The standard depicted announcing they were french. Warren and Aurora exchanged shouted words, that seemed muffled as if hisears were full of cotton. Before he knew what he was doing, his left arm uncoiled from Aurora's waist striking out at the air with his palm facing the advancing platoon. Out of nowhere a large creature shaped like a ball with bat-like wings appeared and the soldiers mouns and all froze in place as if time had stopped. " Go!" He shouted at them, " the spell that broughtit here is temporary, but it petrifies all that looks upon it." He said tucking his arm back around Aurora's waist as they spurred their steeds into action.

As both horses pressed onward hard warren unsheathed his large broad sword.
"I shall have my fun go on ahead aurora!" He shouted to them. She looked back at her brother fearing he'd fall ill with madness, if he wasn't already there. As verik's spell wore off, warren laughed. He lived for the thrill of slaughter. That's why many feared him and never wanted to cross him. Warren rode fast and hard swinging his blade. As blood and limbs flew about the ground,he could feel him self be watched. For some reason this feeling boiled his blood. He knew it had to be the elf. His teeth ground together in an attempt to keep his rage in tact.
After all of the French courts men were dead, warren dug his heal in his horse's flanks. The beast reared up and begun for gallop. He leaned into the horse"striker run as the wind" was all he said. That was all the creature needed to go as fast as it's legs would allow. In no time he had caught up with his sister. "We shall make camp right before the forest,at first light we shall bead through it's not save at night." He told his sister as he rode ahead of her so he would not see verik. "Fast as night grows near!" He yelled knowing these parts were not save for travelers. Striker and warren raced ahead forcing aurora into a fast pace."hold on verik!!!" She commanded as her horse took off after warren like a bullet.

Verik struggled to hold on as they raced onward. Eventually they made it to a spot where they could stop to make camp, just as the sun was coming up over the mountains. Verik cast spells causing the earth to orm himself a tent of vines, stone, and wood. He also did one to raw water from the ground to fill everyones canteens. He sat down next to the fire warren demanded be made without magic, and sipped from a flask he kept in a hidden pocket of his cloak. It contained a brew used by the mages in the tower, to awaken hidden power and focus it, but also to drown fit out in large doses to achieve a small sense of being drunk (as it turns out magic users have high metabolisms, and being he was an elf it barely worked as far as a human concoction went) . He sat staring up at the moon warming his hands over the crackling flames. Aurora jumped when a tendril of bluish light whipped violently from the tree line into the ground near her, having smashed a snared rabbit to break its neck. "Ha ha ha, sorry bout that bit of hunting magic", Verik said grabbing it and skinning it with one sharp tug. He gave the skin to aurora after tampring with it and affixed it to the rim of her armour as a soft padding against her throat. He whispered to her that it was also enchanted not to get hot, damp, and to mask the wearers scent for hunting. He made a spit and roasted the rabbit, pulling out a small pouch from under his cap and sprinkling a pinch of the herbs within to season the meat. By the time it was done they had a roasted rabbit the size of a pig with plenty of left over meat to salt and bury in the embers so it cures and dries. They went to sleep and rose at dawn. Eating stips from the salted meat, warren and aurora talked to eachoher about a job, and how they were going to get it done with everyone trying to either kill him or capture him. He was sure they were discussing him, and he didn't get it. Why did people want him dead... why did they want to use him more than even the Prime Magi Council. But supposedly their was a court that wanted to hide him, keep him from any extreme use of his power in anyway that would be recognized. He began working on tranlations from books he would pull from his sleeves, or from behind his back under the cloak. He had come to notice that when the christian religion spread, certain things were turned into demons from the local cultures myths. And the areas current stories of the demon woods, are really the childrens woods. Verik wondered if this meant other of his kind, as he was now thought to be well into his twenties, and yet still he looked 13, though research into the legends said elves could live for centuries, therefor he would still be a child regardless. He set about returning things as they were before they made cap and called that there tracks be scattered and he climbed up onto auroras horse and again they rode off into the east but thistime with an angle towards the south.

They rode on the outskirts of the demon woods as if searching for something. Aurora had never been to this area, she followed her brother's lead. She knew if she didn't get the two talking there would be a fight. She watched her brother's back from her horse.
Warren searched the outer layer of the forest, looking for the only path into the labyrinth of trees and demons. The sky, once clear, had turned dark as rain approached fast. Warren knew this land with every fiber of his being, he knew the small path was near. He looked to the sky then turned to his sister as they rode. "Rain is near as is the path into these woods we shall stop there and rest the horses, once inside we cannot stop. The night is dangerous here" he told her turning back around.
He spotted the path a short time later. The path was actually a small brook then led from a large lake in the forest to the lake closer to the nearest town. From the lake in the woods was another small river that lead to the harbor. Warren stopped and dismounted at the brook as did his sister. Aurora led the horses to a grassy area next to the water. Warren turned to verik and spoke to him for the first time since the trip started. "No magic can be performed in these woods or this close to it. It will attract unwanted visiters" was all he said. He then turned to his sister and told her to start a fire, he would go hunt and return with a wild boar. They needed all the meat they could carry for the trip into the woods. Warren then disappeared into the forest leaving verik and aurora alone.

Verik felt a strange sensation as they drew close to the path, but kept silent. He kept his eyes on the trees, listening to Aurora digging through her pack for her bed roll. He could have sworn he saw a face in the bark, and not like knots on the tree forming it either. He thought back to that feeling he had before they had gotten to the path, like they or more that He was being watched. But there was something ese to that feeling, something from long before he ended up at the orphanage with no memory of life beforehand. He felt uneasy, so he walked to the stream to soak his feet in the freezing water, as he stared off into the forest. He could hear voices, or at least it seemed that way. the gurgling water, the rustle of the leaves as the wind stirred the branches. Verik began to wonder why people said the forest was inhabited by demons as it appeared to be like any other forest, when Warren came back dragging a rope with two wild boars at the other end. He walked back to camp thinking over his suspiscions, " Hey guys.." he was cut off as a volley of arrows came crashing down around him. They were a dark black wood, twisted and knotted, but the strangest feature was the fletches made from blue-ish leaves growing off the shaft. There was only the one shower of arrows, it came from the forest and yet there had been no sound to say bows had been fired, and there was no sound as to anyone beingin the woods. He snatched up two of the arrows and ran back to the camp, showing them to Aurora and Warren. They exchanged glances with eachother before sayin they had never seen an arrow like that before.

Warren searched his bag for a small cloth like paper and a small dagger. He set the cloth down on a smooth river rock, then taking the dagger he sliced his palm. Taking a quil out of the bag he dipped it into his blood that pooled in his hand he started writing on the paper. Aurora watched her brother in confusion as he wrote pagan words on the cloth. He took one of the arrow from verik, after tying the paper to the end of it. Warren readied the arrow in his crossbow aiming it to the sky. He closed his eyes to better judge where the arrow would land. Before firing he asked verik where he was when the arrows were fired at him. After getting his answer he aimed the arrow skyward in the direction he was told and fired. The arrow flew through the air at incredible speed landing where he wanted it to. "That should keep them away for now" he said looking at his bloody hand. Though he had never seen this type of arrow before he knew there was only one thing that could fire arrows and not be heard.

Verik thought while he fiddled with the other arrow. It wasn't until he tried to use his eyes to really look at it, as it seemed that his people have a natural gift for seeing the flows of energy, the arrow had a natural energy as if it were still a living branch. And yet, how natural the energy was for the wood, it didn't seem naturally formed. He snapped the arrow destroying its energy, in hopes to catch the faint magic residue left beind by it's previous owner, and discovered only the smallest glint of personal magic before it to winked out. The energy in it was quite similar to his own, but inferior, meaning either the archer wasn't as gifted in magic as he was or simply weaker in general, either way it was stronger than any of the human mages he had encountered at the Magi Tower. He left the speculations behind, as he clambered onto Aurora's horse and they rode away. In the daylight, the raced through the forest so as not to waste time and let their attackers pursue closely. " To think the English would see me dead, the French would see me a weapon, and a third court noone knows anything about... wants to help me hide from them all" Verik muttered into the wind whipping by his head, throwing his hair around and stinging his eyes. When they finally managed to exit the forest, it was still day time, which didn't make sense to Verik or the others as they were all sure sun down had been at last three hours previous. There was something else not right, the air had a sweetness to it that the air before the forest, and in it. There was a small village composed of huts that seemed to have been grown into their shapes. Everything was stone and wood, but seamless as if the two naturally occured that way. What was this place, and who were the strange people coming towards them. Covered head to toe in vines and bark stitched and mounted into perfection. Their yellowish green skin glowing in the sunlight was not nearly as strange as their hair, which seemed to come in every color. Verik was tempted to ask if his companions knew who o what they were, when a surge of energy hit him. It was coming from the leader of the group, this energy just rolled off of him an made his own power flair around him causing the air to ripple, and he knew only he could see it, because these people were like him, and his companions were human. "Elves!!" Verik shouted leaping down from the horse and running towards the group.

Warren grabbed verik by his cloak, swinging him onto the back of his horse. "Those arn't elves, they are demons mimicking elves." He told verik quietly. One hand held the horse's reins the other rested on the hilt of his massive sword. He looked at his sister with a "don't dismount" look, she understood as she remained in her saddle. Warren turned to the group infront of him.
"Where are the inhabitants of this village?" He asked looking to the ground. He searched the ground noticing foot prints in the soft dirt as if many were running. The leader was the first to speak. "We are but kind woodland elves!" Warren sighed getting irritated. He dismounted slowly, the leader smiled slightly at this action. "Stay on this horse." He commanded verik as he started slowly to the group, his hand still on his sword. Warren started to speak in pagan tongue knowing most people of this land outside of the town knew this language. He noticed the group did not understand what he was saying and then he knew this was a trap. "the time worp, everything a trap!!" He said anger wrapped in his deep voice. Warren figured it out, the arrows were no attack they were warnings. He saw a child's footprints running into the forest,in that Instant he knew a kid sent those arrows. If It had been an archer wanting to attack would not have missed. Warren laughed as he unsheathed his sword starting to run at the men. He raised his sword bringing it down hard and fast taking out two of them at once. With such grace and precision he danced around them killing them one by one until the leader was the last one standing. Warren grabbed him by the throat slamming him into the ground. He kneeled down and started talking. "Now I will ask one more time. Where are the elves of this village? You better answer and if you tell the truth I might let you live." He pulled him up "show me!" Warren demanded. The leader led warren into one of the many caves. Moments later he emergedfrom the cave with the leader and many elves behind them. He threw the leader to the ground and watched as he begged for his life before warren cut him down. Aurora dismounted, then helped verik of the horse. "We must tend to the wounded ok verik!" She said sweetly. She walked with verik over to the group. "Warren we should stay here for the night and get your hand fixed up before it gets infected" she told her brother as she bent over an elder man that was hurt.

Verik watched as the elf-like creature's corpse began burning to dust. But his fascination with the demon's remains ended as soon as he realized there were real elves before them. "I'm not alone" he said wistfully under his breath, when he approached the true wood elves, he was intrigued by their appeance, similar to the disguised demons, but their eyes were the color of grass. "Aurora, I get a feeling they may not be to welcoming towards me" Verik whispered as he neared her. He had this feeling of unease, it was as if he could feel a tension between these elves and himself. Verik began to wonder what this meant, and if there were wood elves, than that meant there was more than one race. And since these elves looked nothing like him, what race was he?

"May we stay the night to rest our bones and our horses?" Warren asked putting his hand to his chest and bowing before them. The leader stepped forward, he turned to a female elf. As he did that the girl stepped forward. "Can you help our wounded and help rid this place of theses bodies?" She asked her voice was soft and sweet like an angel. Warren stood up to face her, " my sister aurora and verik can tend to the wounded and I shall remove the corpses. We shall leave in the morning for harbor" he said. Knowing they were not out of the forest yet, they had a long way yet to go. A few elves curiously walked over to verik, not knowing there were others like them. "He is elf is he not?" One asked touching his ear as others touched and inspected him and his clothes. "Yes my mission is to get him safely to our employer" was all warren said. Others looked at verik with disgust, one in particular look as if he was going to kill verik.

Verik caught the eye of one of the wood elves, a stout elderly creature. Which must have meant he was very old indeed, for as Verik knew from the "myths" and from his own experience, elves aged extremely slow. The old elf looked at him with murderous hatred, and Verik wanted to know why. Pushing through the crowd that had gathered around him, to inspect his features that were so similar and yet different, until he got to the man. "My name is Verik, and I was wondering why you look at me so" he said quietly. " It is nots o much you, as your kind" the old man started as he turned to walk " But I suppose you wouldnKt know, being as you're so young, and since you're race was wiped out. Accursed Dark Elves." He finished disappearin into one of the stone/wood cottages. Verik had Aurora gather the wounded, and healed them all with a single healing spell. "I've seen that spell used on battlefields before, but only on a single person at a time" She said watching the blinding purplish light radiating from his hands die out. " A lot of the spells I cast work like that actually. I have an energy level that astounded the old Magi, but they put a few binding curses on me to limit the full function until I can better control normal levels." Verik said with a shameful look on his face. He still remembered that day, it was about nine years ago, the Magi had taken him to the top floor of the Tower. They had taken him to a room that looked like a focus room, where students would sparr and otherwise practice their magic for the benefits of a room that focuses their enrgy for them. But this one was different, the sigils, runes, and seals carved into the stone walls were much more advanced. Verik had been made to stand in he centerof a large seal painted on the floor, while the Magi took up positions around its edge. As soon as they started to chant, he focused his eyes on the energy in the air around him and knew instantly that they were going to bind his powers, it was to late to do anything, as he realized as well that the seal he was standing in was a trap meat to keep its occupant and their magic inside. He hd felt their spell begin to take hold, whn that same feral sensation that had overcome him at the orphanage, and just like than his power reacted with violence. Two of theMagi had been vaporized, three had lost limbs and, one began flattening as if a giant weight had been dropped on him, causing blood and liquified organs to splatter everywhere before they had finished. He drifted out of the memory whe he heard a small soft voice say "hello" he turned to find an Elven child, he guesed her to be four by human standards, but hell he appeared to be a teenager and was well into his twenties almost thirties by human years, and thats just from the orphanages guess at his age. Her hair offset the lemon/lime color of her skin with hues of black nd shimmering blue remindinghim of a beetles shell.

Warren watched the elves interact with verik, he couldn't care any lessthen he did for the boy. The only reason he saved him is that he is getting paid to do so. he remembered back at the castle when they picked verik up. one of the guards had told him which court wanted the elf save and away from anyone trying to use him as a weapon. he chose to keep it secret for the journey. he knew it would upset aurora if she knew. he sighed pulling off his armor then his shirt off to start moving the bodies. his body covered in scars, his back full of old scars of being whipped. he also hand numerous stab scars from swords. not a single spot on his upper body didn't have some sort scar. warren heaved one corps over each shoulder. for a human he was very strong, he knew nothing of how to do magic but he knew how to make swords, hunt, track and, fight. he removed the bodies two by two until they were all gone. the leader came out, him and warren talked for a great while. aurora was wondering what was going on with her brother and the leader, she hoped that what ever it was, it was good.she continued to help the no healed elves to their homes and in their beds,

Verik reached for the small girl and she quick stepped backwards, out of his reach, so he got up. She stepped back and turned running back towards the woods. "Wait!" He called after her, running for the woods with a glance back to see if anyone noticed he was leaving. He went deep into the forest before he lost her trail. He scanned the trees, and pulled a sword from the air. It was made of iron, with a core of silver that poked out along the edge, forged for taking down demons and spirits. "Where'd you go" he shouted to the air, this was met by giggling that sounded as if he was being ambushed. The girl stepped out of a shadow as if she had been the shadow, her eyes glowed and she grew into a woman. "The Seelie Court would have welcomed you as the night elf clan for sure. A shame though how war and greedhas brought so much pain to our race. Humans believe we are but stories for children, and outside of the Heritages closet to the Seelie most clans dont even know there are other clans still out there. This is an affront to the people, and to me. For with their betrayal, the court has forgotten to whom they owe their life to, For I am Sylph, Goddess of the Fae"She said with all the authority and grace that definitely made her seem godlike. The sligt shimmer around her body said something for her power as well, he feared using his Third Sight to see the energy flows around her. " Well they are taking me to some court I'm unsure of, and I wouldn't begin to know how to con them into taking me what could be waaaaay in the other direction now." Verik said looking around to follow the movement of the golden cloud of mist the "Goddess", had transformed into as it drifted into the trees. "Well great, now i have unanswered questions. And I'm lost in the Demon Forest." Verik whined weaving a spell to help him locate the way he came from, he relased it and followed the small purple butterfly that fluttered away to the village. When he got back, he was assaulted by Aurora in the form of a smack in the back of the head. She stuck one of her claws under his chin, "Where have you been? Do you realize you've been gone for three days? What the hell is wrong with you, why would you just disappear like that" she said in a tone that did nothing to hide her anger, but neither did it mask the motherly concern she treated him with back at the orphanage. He knew Warren never forgave him for the incident back than. But Auroroa knew it was an accident, but that didn't change the fact that she would always look at him with a sadness sometimes when she thought he wasn't looking. He told her he was tired and feigned fainting , so he could have time to think things over. He had been told of a strange elven court, by an elven goddess, and she wanted him to get rid of them.
