Philip Archibald strode home immediately once his final class was completed. It had been a long day, having been on campus since 9am and with classes straight till now. His stomach growled, not having time for lunch and his demeanor was cranky because of it. Majoring in business and accounting, he was always dressed for it. He wore black dress shoes with grey dress pants, a white collared shirt tucked in with a black vest overtop. It was the end of the day however so his appearance was more rougher. His top buttons were undone and his tie hung loosely from his neck. He ruffled his hair with a hand as he carried his bag over his other shoulder. He had a look of boredom etched on his face, though his mind was elsewhere.

Last night he had a dream, a quite vivid one. While he slept, a tall mysterious figure had approached him within his mind. He had been tall, garbed entirely in black robes and armor, with a tall helm on his head and an even taller spear in his hand. Silver white hair flowed down his head and his eyes were dark hollows that seemed to reflect the true nature of whatever it beheld. Nothing could escape those eyes. At first, Philip disregarded it as simply a figment of his dreams, another random thought of his subconscious that would most likely go away. But it did not. He had spoken to him, saying things that Philip refused to even comprehend. But what bothered him most was not what this figure said, but what he gave him. Certainly objects in dreams were merely crafted from his imagination, but when he had awoken that morning, he felt it heavy on his neck. The figure had gifted him a necklace, of interlocking silver chains and a small piece of ivory that hung from its apex. Only then did Philip realize the truth.

Though deep in thought of that strange occurrence earlier that morning, Philip was not focusing on the present. As he decided to cut through a series of alleyways to his home, Philip had no clue what a bad idea that was. Terra Optima was relatively a safe city, free from crime, but that didn't mean it didn't exist. "Hey kid." A gruff voice said, grabbing his shoulder and whirling him about. Philip snarled, taking a step back and raising his fists, "The fuck do you want?" He snapped, even though two other men stepped out of the darkness to join the first. "Your wallet kid, and any other valuable on you. That pretty little necklace to start." Another man demanded and all three advanced on him threateningly. Philip stood his ground, dropping his bag to the ground. He feinted a step towards one man and dove at another, crashing his fist into the man's jaw. But it was three on one and though Philip had the upper hand on one, the two grabbed at him from behind. They slammed him back into the wall behind, disorientating him as the back of his head struck the concrete. A fist crashed into his face, before another rocked his gut painfully. Stifling a scream, Philip tried to fight them off but couldn't, being overpowered and outmatched.

Katee exited the coffee house with a tall, reusable, coffee cup in hand. She sighed happily as she sipped the steamy brew savoring its warmth and hint of vanilla. As she brought the cup down from her lips the sunshine twinkled along the silver bangle on her wrist making her smile softly. She'd come across it as she was traveling the Mediterranean on her Uncle's yacht, the old woman who insisted that she buy it from her had given her a wonderful deal on it and had showered her with compliments about well it accentuated the beauty of her supple wrist.

Katee had been having weird dreams since them, not bad, just ones filled with images of the regal exercise of power and the adoration of grateful people. She hadn't ever thought of herself as vainglorious but she found she enjoyed the way the dreams felt. Lost in her reverie, chuckling at the memory of the dreams she took a wrong turn and found herself in a back alley. She frowned and as she was working to figure out how to undo her misstep, she heard sounds of a scuffle. Listening carefully, she figured out what was happening and she dialed 911 and put her phone on Speakerphone as she said stridently, "I'm witnessing a mugging, 3 guys, blue hoodies... Blue jeans... Black kicks, white kicks and navy Chuck Taylors... Their victim has been beaten... Come quick to the Alley behind Mt. Fuji Sushi."

Katee never took her eyes off the three tough guys, but gave them a look full of disdain. She figured they'd run, but if they try jump her they will find her no easy target. She's fleet of foot and quick with her cellphone's camera... So rushing her would be bad for them.

Each blow delivered a sharp glance of pain, as if someone was driving a knife through his gut. Philip grunted and winced, but still struggled against the superior grip that held him in place. One arm broke loose, catching one of the muggers in the jaw. They hurriedly slammed Philip back into place. "You little punk." The man said, touching the side of his face before slamming his own fist into Philip's face. Blood trickled down from the fresh cut on his lip. "This would have been easier you little prick if only you..." the man's voice trailed off as another soon took its place, distant yet coming nearer. All eyes turned to the sound of the voice; a tall girl, holding her phone as she glared at the attackers. It was clear she was describing their appearance to the law.

"Piss off," one of the men said, moving threateningly towards her. It seemed to Philip that she glowed slightly, like an aura that grew about her. He felt as if he seen and known her from somewhere before, but could not place her in any of his memories. By the way she looked, it was clear she was college student just like him. He kept his mouth shut, tasting his own blood as he watched the scene unfold. Though he appreciated the help, he knew the girl wouldn't stand a chance against the three of them in a fight. But then again, she didn't need to. When a second man turned his attention to the newcomer, Philip used that opportunity to break out of their grip, crouching and spinning low out of their reach. He held a hand up to his neck defensively, believing his necklace was his most valuable item.

"You'll pay for this. Both of you. Your both dead." The largest mugger said, before disappearing with his compatriots into the darkness of the alley. "The pigs can't always protect you." Another man said, before Philip stepped towards them with clenched fists, eager to get revenge for the humiliation he had to endure. His lip was busted and drops of blood lined his sleeve, but they were long gone now. "Thank you," Philip replied, glancing over to her before bending over to fetch his bag which had fallen. "You look...familiar." He blurted out suddenly, eyeing the newcomer up and down.

A pen's gentle, tap, tap, taping could be heard as Lily gently rested her pen's end to the page she needed. Honey golden eyes scanned the passage a few times before she clicked her pen happily and scribbled in a little note in the margin. "Ah, found you," and switched over, penning her research notes on the mysterious flower on her little notepad. This was certainly going to help in her research! It had been a little over an hour since Lily had been studying in the library. She found this quite a place of solitude, especially on the fourth floor which was dedicated to study time, and more importantly, silence. She had her head down slightly, jamming to the music that flowed freely from her head phones into her ears. She was listening to Sia's, Little Black Sandals which reminded her to push on. She didn't need constant motivation, she needed constant sound to keep her on track.

Soon, she'd have to head home. Leaning back in her seat, she stretched her arms up from the previous hunched position she had entered and yawned. Looking back down at her notes after rubbing her eyes, she smiled at her work in progress. Yes, it would be a great research essay, she had confidence in this. Closing her books, she made sure that everything was organized neatly (she'd freak if it wasn't by the time she returned home!) and rose to stand, slipping a scarf about her head, unraveling it from the heap on the ground to around her neck quite delicately. "Alrighty," she whispered to herself and gathered her belongings into her brown book bag, a vintage looking bag that suited the classic look of the young lady. She was petite in stature, but the way her shoulders squared back and her step long and confident, drew the figure of not a little girl, but a budding young lady. She was ready to learn further and step into the world to hopefully, blossom into the woman she knew she could become. She had much residing on it; she had to make her family proud; tradition was important.

Handling her things, she smoothed the white dress with the cute yellow belt around her waist, clad in a pair of black stockings - just in case it got cold! - and wiggled her toes in her black flats. Happily, she made her way out, clicking the elevator button, waiting as patiently as she could to descend down. "Oh, right," she had to remind herself to return the library books, too, before she made her way outside.

As Katee approached the scene of the attack, she was heartened by seeing Philip work a hand free and clock one of the would be muggers in the jaw. So long as their was fight in him Katee presumed he wasn't hurt that badly. The sight of blood trickling down his face didn't make her feel faint or scared, oddly, instead it turned her resolve to steel as her heart went out to the brave guy the three bullies were picking on.

As their eyes turned to her, Katee became the picture of protective fury and a level-headed kind of vengeance. As one of them tried to intimidate her and close the distance between them, she used that as an opportunity to refine her description of him. "Their ringleader has dirty blonde hair, a scruffy goatee and a curvy tribal tattoo down his right arm," she told the 911 operator helpfully. Clearly the muggers attempt at getting her to back off failed as she stood their uncowed and resolute.

Then Philip was able to use the distraction Katee's appearance provided to break free of his attackers and Katee smiled a darkly satisfied smile. There was something domineering and threatening in her stance as if she was DARING the three muggers to make god of their leaders threat right now. It was like she was sure that 2 on 3, she and Philip would tear them apart even though there was nothing of the fighter about her.

"Really? Sheesh, I'd think you'd be busy blowing town rather then spending time in a town where the next knock on your door will be the police coming to take you away," Katee spat out to the badee coldly, promising the man mountain of a mugger, by tone and disdainful look, that that was the BEST possible ending to this story for him.
Katwe walked over to Philip reaching into her purse for something. She drew out a handkerchief and some ointment as he thanked her for her pains on his behalf. "You're welcome... Let me clean you up some," she said, almost cooing the way one does to a child with a boo boo. She chuckled and tossed her head asking coyly, "Really? That's the line you're going with?" as Philip's eyes roamed over her body. Though she still embodied a type of almost maternal concern, her lips curled into a mischievous and flirtatious smile as she awaited the dark haired guy's response to her words. She found he carried with himself a stillness that bordered on coldness but wasn't unpleasant just... Different and deep...

Philip turned his head to the side to spit out a gob of blood as the girl approached, eyeing her handkerchief wearily. He wasn't some small child who had tripped and hurt their knee, he was a grown man, or so he liked to think. He was perfectly capable of handling himself, as he had always done throughout his life. But the way this girl seemed to glow, the way she radiated energy, it was different. Did she have some connection to his dreams? Something about her seemed to scream familiarity, but he could not place it. He recalled the way she had stood there before the attackers, men who could have easily overpowered her, and faced them down with a look of vengeance. That single, majestic look lingered on his mind. He had to find out who she was.

It didn't bother Philip at all that he had been rescued by a woman however. "Oh, my hero, thank you for saving me." Philip said sarcastically to her comment about the line he used, though he remained still if she wanted to clean his split lip a little. His eyes, still roaming her body for some sort of clue, rested on her bracelet for a moment. Something seemed to draw Philip towards it, though it was with reluctance that he returned his eyes to hers. It wasn't polite to stare, especially at a woman. "I know you. You go to the University as well. Track team, am I right? I would have thought you'd have ran away rather than stand your ground. I'm impressed." He replied with a smirk, wiping his mouth with the back of his sleeve. He gestured towards the street with a nod, indicating they should at least leave the darkness of the alleyway behind.

Katee caught the flash of masculine pride that passed over Philip's face as she approached him to help clean him up. She let it slide, boys were just... Funny that way sometimes, so she took no offense at it. Though the way he was looking at her so intensely was at once a touch off putting but at the same time flattering as he didn't seem to be sizing her up like a piece of meat instead he seemed to be ... Looking for something,

Katee laughed at Philip's sarcastic comment, taking it as a sign of wit rather then a put down. "So... What? I don't get a hero's reward?" she joked back even as she gently wiped some drying blood off his lip. Nodding when he placed her and catching his look alleyway she took the hint and turned to head back to the main street rather then stay where they were.

"Yes, I'm on the track team, you a fan of fast girls?" Katee asked cheekily as she walked with Philip out onto the street. "Oh, and I'm Katee..." she says by way of introduction, giving him time to share his name as well. Then she added, "Running when the starting gun has gone off is one thing... From something wrong that I can make right... Running rom that, just ain't my style."

Ami Willis had a day off, no practice with her singing this day no nothing at all really. The pink haired young woman had a day to herself, granted she had no clue at all what she was going to do with the free time at all, but she would be able to figure something out. She slipped out of her classroom, before looking up and down the hall of the large school. Finding no one that she knew, she headed to her locker where she gathered up the things that she would need for her homework. A troublesome and annoying thing for sure, but something that needed to be done none the less. The young woman knew that she had to keep her grades up to make sure she had the option still of going to a good school and continuing her education at that school.

She finished getting her things together quickly tossing them in her back setting up her back in a rather organized fashion which was rather common for the young woman with most everything she did. That was she could find what she was looking for quickly and then be able to access it fast too. She walked out of the front door into the sun filled day. Her eyes adjusted quickly to the brightness of the day, as she at first shielded them with her hand as she looked around for any one to come up and tell her that practice was going to happen and she wasn't going to be able to slip away from school for a good while. It was something that would of been uncommon had it actually of happened. These things did happen a good amount of times and thus wouldn't of been a surprise at all.

For Ami music was fun a joy and she wouldn't of minded going back to work on it more, as she was rather sure it was where her future would be. Yet, she was glad to have a day to herself to enjoy herself and to rest and relax. She saw that no person came looking for her and she figured she would head home then. The walk from the school to her home was a rather short one a mile or so, nothing bad, and enough to give her a nice brisk walk which was good for the pink haired woman. Ami started on her way heading home whistling softly as she head down the stairs of the school before starting the walk home on the side walk feeling rather joyous about the prospects of the day.

Cerulean blue eyes scanned the titles, reading the words before moving on to the next one. An extended finger followed, Elliot murmuring softly under his breath until he found what he was looking for. The hand reached out, gently pulling the book away from its companions as he replaced it with another book. Elliot Beale was a quiet, reserved young man, already graduated from high school, and moving on to college here in the next few weeks. In the meantime...he was familiarizing himself with the campus library, and earning money. While most kids his age would be partying, hanging out with friends or family...he chose to not do so. After all...he had no friends to speak of, nor any family he really cared to be with. It was just a fact of life. The book in hand, he continued on with his work until the cart was piled high. A group of people were waiting back at the reception desk for these books, but couldn't find them after looking for thirty minutes. Pictures of planets, comets and satellites graced the covers, giving only a hint as to what laid underneath each cover.

The light cast shadows onto the young man's face, bringing out little details no one would notice at first glance while he began making his way back towards the front. Luckily the group was still waiting, or else all his work would be for naught. "I have your books," Elliot spoke up, his voice a rich, deep melody of notes that didn't quite fit with his demeanor. "Take your pick, and I will return whatever you don't take to the shelves." That said, he returned to his place behind the desk, keeping an eye on the college students. One didn't quite set right with him, maybe because of his shifty eyes, maybe because of the way he kept glancing everywhere...but either way, he didn't trust him. The chair sank under his weight, giving a slight groan of protest. His hands traced along the desk's surface, and the light glinted off a pair of amber eyes resting on his chest. The owl symbol was a pendant he woke up with one day, after a strange dream of sorts. There was no explanation behind the dream...yet there was no denying the connection. One hand lifted, the fingers playing with it for a moment before movement in his peripheral vision caught his attention.

Elliot raised his eyes next, only taking the briefest study of the young woman in white. "Miss, are you returning those books?" he spoke up, ignoring the curious, interested looks he was receiving from a handful of girl within the group he was helping. "I can take care of it for you, if you like." Strands of black fell forward, the tips falling into his blue eyes, and in front of his glasses.

The pair of them strode back towards the sunny street, feeling the rays of the sun wash over their bodies like a shower. The girl who had rescued Philip seem to glow even more with the rays, as if her celebrity status at their college was justified. But Philip felt something more, something deeper, that was the cause of this brilliant radiance that emitted from her. "I thought kindness was its own reward." Philip said with a smile, following her as she began to walk down the street. At least it was in the direction of his home. Perhaps she lived close to him.

"I'm Philip." He said when she introduced herself. Yes, Katee was definitely a name he heard before. "A fan of fast girls? Perhaps. I'm more a fan of girls who can get things done." Philip said, stuffing his hands in his pockets as they walked. He continued to run his tongue over his split lip, not quite enjoying the strange sensation of the foreign feeling on his lip. He hoped it went away soon, for he had presentations to give next week and it wouldn't do good to have such an injury on his face. "It's not my style either, though if you hadn't shown up I probably would have wished it was my style. Those three had me beat and cornered and it would have gotten worse when they found out I don't have any valuables on me." He said, not mentioning his own necklace, "What could they have taken? My credit card? A single phone call and its cancelled. I'm starting to think that wasn't your average mugging."

Philip then glanced over his shoulder, as if they were being followed. "You should avoid this street from now on. If they ever come back and they spot you, well I don't even think those sleek feet of yours would get you very far. And besides, I never imagined a woman like you to be the type who walks home alone. What happened to the Queen B's little entourage that usually accompanies them?" Philip said, flashing a teasing smile at her. Not that he had that great of a circle of friends either. The last party he attended was probably around New Years and that was months and months ago.

Katee found there was something quiet and comfortable as she walked alongside Philip, like she was in the company of a long time friend or a boyfriend she'd grown close and intimate and trusting with, even though she'd just met him. She had a wry and quirky smile on her lips as this occurred to her, tossing her head as the sunshine played over her. She chuckled at his romantic assertion and replied cquetishly, "how very Eleanor of Acquitane of you, sir... I'm... Surprised to find a guy who advocates such chivalrous notions." She shot him a cheeky, almost challenging look, apparently happy to play the role of flirtatious pursuer to his 'damsel in distress'.

When Philip introduced himself, Katee nodded then asked, "are you taking 'Democaracy and Capital Punishment' with Professor Stackhouse?" She sounded like she was trying to place him, and thought they might be sharing a class. Her tone was timid and halting like she wasn't sure if she was remembering seeing him or someone else.

"Well then, Philip, you'll find that's just the tip of the iceberg with me. I'm all about the handling whatever life throws at me and coming out on top," Katee said, then laughed self-depricatingly before adding, "god, I sound like a stuck up bitch, don't I? Utterly full of myself." Her statement was more of a self aware admission then an appology, but hinted at the fact that she had a sense of humor about herself, maybe something she doesn't admit to everyone.

"I'm Philip." He said when she introduced herself. Yes, Katee was definitely a name he heard before. "A fan of fast girls? Perhaps. I'm more a fan of girls who can get things done." Philip said, stuffing his hands in his pockets as they walked.

Katee bobbed her head, agreeing to all Philip said. "No sense looking for trouble... Ducking down alleyways is out for now," she said chipperly, but then reminded him, "muggers aren't known for their cost-benefit analysis skills. They must have figured you had cash, or doobage... Or whatever..." Then Philip went all stereotypee on Katee, and she looked 'hurt' when he spoke of her entourage. "Now, now... A Queen CAN decide to slum it amongst the common folk every once in awhile. If only to get a break from all the bowing and scraping and kisses on the ass," she admitted to him in a tone that was at once haughty and playful. After saying all that she extended a hand to him saying, "we will allow you to kiss our ring," even though there was no ring on any of her fingers. The only adornment she wore was the peacock feather bangle that slid down that arm and rested near the wrist of the hand she'd offered him to kiss.

Philip flashed a smile in return when Katee referred to his notion as very Eleanor of Acquitaine. The historical reference alone was enough to make his heart thump. The reversal of roles in this scenario was very amusing now to Philip and he wondered what else he could discover about his semi-famous savior. "Democracy and Capital Punishment? Yes I am in that class. I'm surprised you recognize me now at least, seeing how I always sit in the back. I don't think Stackhouse bathes regularly but it doesn't seem to bother the keeners who sit up front. Am I right Katee?" Philip said in jest. He gave a laugh when Katee referred to herself as a stuck-up bitch, shaking his head with a shrug. "And a guy who does the same thing and thinks the same way is called a trooper rather than a stuck-up bitch. Let's keep the double standards to a minimal shall we?" He offered, hoping to score some points. They were nearing his house now and he wondered if Katee lived in the same area as well, for why else would she be walking down the street with a closed person such as himself?

"She can, she can." Philip allowed to Katee's choice to slum it out with the common folk. Did that include him? Philip always tried hard not to fall into any stereotypical category, preferring to remain on the sidelines as a nobody. "But a Queen should still have her escort, in case evil should befall her. I thought someone who knows enough about Eleanor of Acquitaine would understand that. But then again, this Queen can take care of herself as she claims." He looked down at her hand when she offered it for a kiss, before returning his eyes to her own. She was an extraordinary girl, this Katee, and that was probably why she was Queen B of the entire university.

"You're wish is my command." Philip replied, taking her by the wrist and bending low to peck the back of her palm gently. That was when his eyes finally recognized her bracelet and a flood of images flashed through his mind. His own necklace seemed to grow heavier, very much so, to the point where it became a chore even to straighten himself out. If Katee looked closely enough, she would see the glimmer of a faint glow emitting from behind his collar."Where did you get such an artifact?" Philip asked, still looking down at her arm as he held it gently above the wrist. They had stopped walking now, standing in a small residential neighborhood just a few minutes' walk from the main street that took them back to university.
