Oh hai, Mark. Welcome to a thread that will certainly become bloated and full of incoherent rambling in the coming days, cobbled together and barely proofread by one nerdy individual residing somewhere in the continental United States with too much free time and not enough of a thought filter.

I. I'm a human being, so, y'know. Talking to me like one is pretty groovy, and I really enjoy OOC communication with my roleplaying buddies. Forcing small talk isn't necessary, but if you don't like getting to know who you collaborate with on your writing, we probably won't work out too well.
II. I'm not super particular about my writing preferences, but it's all gotta be in third person. I don't do first person because it kind of creeps me out when it's used in the context of SENSUAL NIPPLE RUBBING or CHEESE GRATER ON THIGHS, so there's that. Long posts are my bread n' butter, but I'm trying to play more toss and catch when it comes to conversations. The alternative - throwing up giant text walls with rambling speeches that are responded to in kind - just doesn't appeal to me like it used to. Multiple paragraphs are fantastic and I can hold my own in that department if need be, but I like to try new things. Just no two-liners, because that shit cray.
III. AIM/Skype only. Sorry! We'll probably have to talk in private messages for a short while to make sure we'll get on alright, but after that I prefer to keep my comms to AIM or Skype, preferring the prior. I'll give you my screen name when the time is right.
IV. I don't really roleplay every day. Hell, there will probably be long stretches in which I just don't feel up to it. It's nothing personal, I promise, so if you're flexible in that manner we'll probably be all hunky dory. Schedule-wise, I keep late nights CST. Expect midnight or later into the wee hours of the morning. If you play any games, though, I'm probably down to hang out and shoot folks between roleplays.
V. I don't really enjoy pure smut. I like characters living in a world full of life going through their existence as best they can, then tossing in whatever sort of smut elements might play out to mutual interests in the best possible way. Everyone's had enough of the one-trick ponies, right? "hay im much slutty let us penis-coitus" is about as appealing as that cheese grater on the thighs thing I mentioned earlier -- it boils down a collaborative storytelling process to a cheap porno at best.
VI. Vanilla no es bueno; kink es muy bueno. If there's smutty stuff, expect a lot of BDSM elements. For a full list of what I enjoy, make sure you check out my F-List page.
Not all elements wherein are required in any given scene except for bondage. I am not engaged if there is no bondage. Sad, innit? Can't help that part. Anything else is negotiable unless it's in my reds. This seems like the best time to note that I might play socially awkward sorts, but pretty much only sexual dommes. I am notoriously awful at subbing, but don't expect every character I write to be a ballbusting, abrasive harpy.
VII. I write characters for specific roleplays, or take an archetype I've used before and modify it for whatever we've got cooking. I don't have reference pictures often, but I do enough writing to make up for that, hopefully. If you like certain character types, awesome; if you want pictures of high schoolers stolen from Facebook, that's not really in my bag of tricks.
(I don't mind help with references, of course, but let's keep it somewhat sane!)

Male characters, on the other hand, usually have to have some interesting setup (fur-clad and large, perhaps) before I'll really pay much attention, and even then I still prefer the sexually submissive sorts.
X. I really don't care what gender you are behind your character, because worrying about that sort of thing shows an unhealthy level of inability to differentiate between IC and OOC dealings. As long as you're a pleasant person to talk to, you could have sixteen pairs of undiscovered genitals for all I really care.
(But then I'd be asking for pictures of your tentaginas, so don't tell me if you actually do. Fer yer health.)

I am primarily a video game enthusiast bordering on fetishist. If I haven't played it, I've probably heard about it, read about it, or I'm about to read about it. I still have plenty of other dorky interests, but vidyer games are my mainstay.
As a side note, I may not really want to play a game's universe exactly, but instead do some creative tweaking. Comes with the territory when there are unpleasant or unappealing elements to write around, but that's just part of the fun.

[*]Currently craving a Way of the Samurai-style roleplay! For those not in the know, WotS plays out like an Akira Kurosawa samurai film in which a lone wanderer blows into town and spends a few days playing people against one another or helping out their choice of faction with multiple endings and an emphasis on playing through the story repeatedly. In that vein, I'd like to play something similar with the same focus on repeating the story and altering events with another character involved - something like a stable time loop they have to escape, perhaps.
[*]Also craving a meta-roleplay in which a group of D&D nerds (or whatever sort of game) jump between their game and their real-life dealings with one another. It's my one exception to real life settings. It'd probably be much more lighthearted than most settings - around-the-table bickering mixed with unreliable story narrators. Alternatively, the in-game segments could be played totally straight while the out-of-game segments might be goofy and prone to arguments, in-jokes, and other messes.

This doesn't really wrap up every single one of my interests, of course, but it's a good start. There aren't many animes I truly enjoy and there aren't many Western cartoons I really want to sexualize, so keep that in mind when approaching with a suggestion. If it's not there, I might have heard of it anyway. I've played plenty of tabletops and watch a fair number of films, but I'm woefully behind on my literature.
If it's bolded, I'm really in that sort of mood, even if it's not exactly the setting. You get the idea, I hope. List subject to change! If anything appeals, just PM me and we can jabber about this sort of bullshit for a while.
