[Sophie is caught up in her job so much that she doesn't have time to even think about anything else. That all changes when she bumps into an unassuming stranger, who starts to fill her thoughts with the idea that perhaps there is more out there than just work--something darker, and something far more exciting.]

Sophie stumbled on her way out of the coffee shop, the tip of her boot catching on a groove in the concrete. She barely caught herself, and sent her coffee splashing across the snow. She grumbled to herself, shook off her small hands, and turned back into the shop, knowing she was going to be late. She'd have to wait in line for another five minutes, then wait several minutes for her drink. She crossed her arms, then slid her fingers through her short, dark hair.
"Damn it," she grumbled as she turned on her heel. She would never make it back to work on time if she had to wait on another coffee. That would teach her to pay better attention to wear she was going. She re-wrapped her scarf around her neck and headed for the door, which she promptly pushed open and hurried onto the sidewalk, colliding with someone forcefully enough to knock her onto her backside. She grunted and looked up, apologizing.
"I am so sorry... It just isn't my day."
