Max grew up fairly wealthy, her parents took care of anything she ever needed and fed her desire to write and create things for herself. She was just as surprised as they were when she finished her book and a publisher was actually willing to help her make it into a real thing. She had come out with a couple more books since then, as well as writing a few articles for some high-paying magazines like TIME. Overall she considered herself extremely lucky to have the opportunities that she had and knew it was partly because of her father who seemed to know everybody.

By now she lived by herself in a house nestled in the mountains of Colorado, hundreds of miles from where she grew up but she loved the solitude and the nature. In the winter she went skiing and snowboarding and the hikes were beautiful in the spring and summer when all the flowers bloomed. Through all of her success and twenty years of life she was still single and wasn't really looking for anyone. There had been someone but that was a different story and she didn't let herself dwell on it for too long or else she'd go crazy.

Max looked down at her speedometer and then checked the signs, she hated the cops around here and it wouldn't do to be late in picking up her best friends' sister. They talked all the time and she had asked a few days ago if she minded keeping her sister for a little while. Max assured her that she had plenty of room to keep her and that she couldn't refuse the girl who had helped her out so much with her life after everything had gone to shit. All she had been told was that her sister really needed to get away and thought the fresh air would do her some good.

She was on her phone checking the status of the flight to make sure she wasn't late and that the plane was on time as she walked into the terminal. Her friend hadn't been able to come but she said that she had shown her sister a picture of Max so she'd know who to go to but said she didn't have any of her sister at the time. She leaned against a column in wait, running a hand through her faux hawk to get it to stand a little more than it was currently. It was a dyed blue black and brought out the pale blue of her eyes while elongating her face and body.

The wait hadn't been bad, she'd been on her phone and checked her email and Facebook before getting onto tumblr and scrolling through her dash, glancing up occasionally when someone came out of the terminal. When a larger group of people came out she checked the time, yep, this should be her. Her eyes scanned the crowd, looking for a look of recognition or at least partial confusion as if she might have been recognized. Then she saw her. Max's chest constricted as she stared down the shorter girl, making no movements. How could she be here? She lived out of the country, Max didn't think she was going to be going anywhere anytime soon, especially not here.

Nevlynn sighed, feeling her already short patience slowly trickling away from her as she stood up from her lumpy and uncomfortable seat, she grabbed her suitcase and messenger bag from the over head bin as she was finally allowed out of her seat, once she had everything she needed, she looked around with a bored look on her round face. Only moments ago the plane landed, she was now in where-ever-the-hell-this-place-is that her sister so lovingly sent her; at least she helped Nevlynn unlike their cold-hearted mother who just kicked Nev out the house the moment the violent and wanted girl arrived ask for help. 'I actually don't blame her, I ran away the moment I dropped out of school.' The eighteen year old thought as she shuffled forward, people were trying to get out of their seats, get their bags and just plain getting the hell out of the plane as soon as possible.

The young female sighed as the memories of before came back to her, filling her with a hallow, sickening feeling. Not even twenty-four hours ago, she was at the top of the world. Leader of a dangerous and world known masked gang in Italy, everyone knew and feared them, countless of lives had been taken by Nev's hand. Her heterochromia eyes, her symbol. One icy blue, the other pale green and both with a gray halo around the pupil; now they just served as a way to find her and end her life.

Baylin was the only one who helped Nev, taking her away from their insane mother, helping and listening to her, even having someone for her to stay with in this place. Nevlynn wondered who it was, she hoped it wasn't some stupid ass pedophile! Seeing as Nev was only 5'2" It would just be her luck to find herself face to face with a insane pedophile. But quickly remembered the picture her sister gave her, Nev didn't really pay attention to it seeing as she wouldn't need it until after she got off the plane.

It was then that she felt something, it was light, almost like a petting; She tensed slightly before glancing over her shoulder. Of course there were many people behind her, it was a full airplane; but the slow and light touches on her hair were not normal. Nevlynn whipped around as a tall, middle aged man stood behind her and smirked at the short female as he petted Nev's shoulder-blade length hair. The golden bronzed colored hair had been pulled back and tied up with a hair tie to keep it out of her face while she slept, but now was being played with by this freak as if it were some stray cat.

"What's your name, sweet cheeks~?" The man asked, Nev glared at him, bi-colored eyes filled with hate before she pulled up the hood of her pullover and tried to turn around, but as soon as she did, a large hand clamped down on her small shoulder.

"A pretty little girl like yourself shouldn't be out and about like this, you'll get hurt; why don't you come with me and I'll protect you~" He said before grabbing a handful of Nev's ass and gave it a generous squeeze.

That. Was. It!

Nevlynn whirled around as she sent a hard fist to the man's face, hearing the satisfying crack of something breaking under her knuckles, she quickly jumped on him, straddling him and locking her legs around his waist as she kept wailing on him. Nev pounding his face in as much as she could before airline security jumped in and pulled her off the man. By then the sleeves of Nevlynn's pull over were speckled with blood and most of her hair had escaped the hair tie; long and wispy locks fell around her face and shoulders. She was promptly thrown out of the airplane, bags and all as they yelled at her that she was never allowed the airline again!

"It's not like I'll ever be able to return, fucking jack asses!" She yelled and flipped them the bird, Nevlynn pushed the hair out of her face and started walking towards the baggage claim, she needed to find her sister's 'bestie' and leave as quickly as she could. She had to keep everything on the down low, who knew how infamous her gang had become, he didn't want to risk it.
A quick stop at the bathroom lead to her getting soaked sleeve while trying to clean the blood out, and even more frustrations as the blood didn't want to come out of the violet fabric. "Fuck this!" She growled, getting some glare from other fliers while others covered their kid's ears. Nev fixed her hair before walking out, she looked in her bag for a picture; not that it would do much help!

She pulled it out, looking at the picture of a girl with a faux-hawk that was dyed blue and black. "Not bad, she seems like fun." Nev muttered, she kept walking as she examined the photo. What wasn't helping was that the photo was grainy and blurry, and that the girl in the picture was wearing, what seemed like a mardi gras mask. Only the lower half of her face showed while the upper was covered up. "A girl with a duo dyed faux-hawk; that was all you had to tell me, Alice." Nev muttered to herself before looking up, that moment she thought she would faint or barf, or something! Max, from so many years ago stood before her and Nevlynn just stood there in the middle of the airport, staring. Shock was clear on her face for a few fleeting moments before anger and betrayal took over. "You!"

"Me?! You! Why are you in the country? You shouldn't even know that this place exists!" She said, incredulous to the fact that her past had come up and slapped her in the face. Max forced herself to calm down to a place that she could at least speak clearly. "Come on. We'll go back to my house and I'm going to have a conversation with your sister," she said firmly, giving her no room to complain or try and talk herself out of it. She said nothing as she led Nev to her car, opening the back so that she could put her bags in. It was fairly silent, Max forgot even to turn the radio on as she was so deep in thought.

They had been driving for about ten minutes before she pulled over on the side of the road and went behind the car, bending at the waist and trying to force the nausea to pass. After a couple of minutes she climbed back into her car and kept driving until she pulled up the driveway to the two-story house. "There's a room upstairs for you until all of this gets worked out," she said, the first fairly kind thing she had said since she had seen the girl. Max took her bag out of the back and carried it upstairs, down a hall, and to the left, past another door on the left and the right.

"So this door is your bathroom," she said, indicating the first door on their left and she didn't mention the one to their right. "Here's some cash if you're hungry and want to order pizza or some Chinese or whatever." Max stepped backwards after handing over the money, looking down at the girl who was now about three or four inches shorter than her, taking everything in. She never had imagined being able to talk to her again, let alone have her standing in her house two feet from her.

"I don't think we need to talk right now but I think we do need to talk about this and what happened," Max stated, not trying to force it but throwing it out so that Nev knew how she was feeling and didn't think that she was running away from it or act like she had forgotten anything because that was the furthest thing from the truth. It practically made her sick to have Nev in the same house, or even knowing she was in the same state. She was so used to being able to hide in her room or behind a computer screen, never really having to deal with face-to-face conflict the way that Nev had been living off of the past few years it seemed.
