The small town brimmed with excitement despite being considered small it really was the second largest in the land only second to the kings court north a days ride. Here they rested in the crook of a cove thus allowing trade of all kinds come through this way. While demons, half breeds, and other non human beings could trade as well as live here they were seen as secondary citizens. The town was under the assumption that the Lord of the town had a tragedy involving a half demon, and since that moment the town only saw demons as evil things. The man may hate their kind, but he saw their use in the only part of the country it could be something far grater than it was. The city was broken up into three sectors, all easy to identify if you do head to the wrong area the guards are very likely to get in the way to let you know where you are.

The High town where the highest of nobility stood, and a few shops that catered to their tastes exclusively. It was well known any half breed caught in this area was likely to find a blade in the gut than a welcome here though not strictly against the law. Mid town fed along the docks, and main fare of the city it had two gates one for entering one for exiting as well as the largest concentration of homes. Low Nobility, and traders could be found from all walks of life. Even mercenaries selling themselves for protection, and shows in the 'Pit' where bets were made on who would win. Then there was low town, this was the slums of the city. The only place half breeds could buy a home regardless of coin. It was well known no decent establishment would house such creatures even if they were useful most the time.

Knail was a tall man reaching well over six feet, and it made sure no one would miss what he was. Though the stories of half demons that could blend in with the normal human were feared this man might as well been wearing a sign. His short black hair bunched in small clusters looking like a sea of spines rather than hair, while covering his head fully they looked like they would be sharp. Between his two brows was a small horn that extended an inch away from him, and two from either side of his eyes that barely broke the surface. His eyes were a soft white color not the same as his eyes, but the pupils seemed to constantly shift softly making it look cloudy. Many took him as blind because of that making rude gestures at him. It did not help that he ignored such things without a word. He had a strong face, yet not angular as most half breeds held with a strong body that spoke of youth. Few half breeds were recent born many hundreds of years old, but he showed his youth. His skin shimmered with a whitish soft color when in bright sunlight like that of a fishes scales or even a snakes. His clothing was loose, a simple tunic top that pressed on his back despite tales of him having wings. His long tail wrapped around his waist twice leaving a small right around him the length was a little over five feet, so it gave him a birth from most people. Simple tan trousers leading to his bare clawed feet.

Knail had been here a day, and was already in trouble he knew. He had walked in the way of some nobleman's cart like the country bumpkin he was causing the cart to stop. He did not know what all the bowing meant, and when people muttered about the Lords cart he did not understand. He felt a pelting sensation only to see the cart driver hit him with the long horse whip. He did not react as it did not even sting him the man might as well hit a stone pillar. "I am sorry am I in the way?" He spoke pleasantly which seemed to anger the driver more even as he stepped out of the way for the cart to progress. Though he did not kneel not to mention for him to do so he would look more dangerous. One of the guards fell out of formation holding his blade looking ready for murder. No one looked shocked you could not show such disrespect to the lord without punishment.

The guard put up his shield knowing all half breeds had strange powers, and despite this man appearing unarmed not stupid to risk it despite the man looking more confused than threatening. It was like the man did not know to be afraid of a blade, it would be a short lesson the man thought.

Knail reacted very little he opened his mouth as a brownish glowing light appeared in the back of his throat which he then proceeded to swallow. His eyes turned a gray brown color shifting with a show of colors even dull. The sand, and dirt around him kicked up slowly though he did not threaten the man. His chest stop moving as if he was holding his breath in. His tail shifted lightly turning the soft white gray of a rock as he waited to see how the man would react. The white his scales once shimmered now were a brownish gray everything seeming slightly different. He just hopped his companion stayed away she would know that blade would bounce off him if the man swung he was not one to hide what he could do.

The town of Tiriene while small it was larger then a lot they had traveled through. Smaller then Soxiholm, the town in which the King himself held court, but not by much. While rest of the world shared it's space with demons and other beings, the majority was humans. Those that were not human of course were not considered important, and those that were demon or half breeds were thought of less then that. Most only saw them as useful creatures, ones to hire when the job was particularly tough to do. Tiriene was different though, it's lord saw demons and half breeds as something to destroy. It's people were of course of the same mind as it's Lord. Lalaa had it easy, she could pass as either wolf or a human. Only when someone looked close enough would they be able to tell. Knail though, you couldn't mistake what he was.

To say surviving in this town was going to be hard, would be putting it lightly. The looks the received while walking through it's streets had Lalaa's hair standing on end. She could feel that something was going to happen, and it wouldn't be in their favor. Deciding she would just go into hiding for now, in the hopes of maybe lessening the humans frazzled nerves at the new demon citizen. Never once did she let Knail out of her sight of course, she stayed hidden with in the crowd of people. Observing mostly, watching as actions became more and more agitated. Her companion was either oblivious to this fact, or he simply did not care. What ever the case, she knew she would need to step in soon.

Knail never seemed to disappoint her in the slightest. A carriage, one that looked important came rolling down the streets. Lalaa watched as it passed people, they would bow to a knee. Then there was her companion, it was no surprise to her that he would not bow. The fact that he stood directly in the way of it't path however did surprise her. Lalaa bristled as the whip was sent towards him. He would not feel it, but that wasn't the point. Weaving through the crowd, the small brunette made her way to the scene.

Making it to Knail just in time for one of the nobles guards to come forward. Blade in hand, he was going to make an example of her friend for the rest of the crowd. As expected Knail would put up his defenses, almost as if he were wanting this fight. Well they just got here, it would be a shame to be thrown out before they even had the chance to explore. With a sigh she stepped towards her companion, making sure to not get in the way of the sword wielding guardsman. "Do you really think this is the right time for such games," she asked as she stepped in front of him.

Bowing as the others did, "please, he means no harm. He is just not accustomed to how society works just yet." This was only partially a lie, he had at least some idea that he was doing something wrong. Holding her palms out, a gesture to say that she meant to harm. "We do apologize for the inconvenience, we will just be out of your way."

With in the carriage sat Evelyn, next to her father on the cushioned seat. Looking out the curtained window as they pass their people. They were returning from a weekend at one of the many that who vied for her hand. A much older gentlemen, closer to her own fathers age. Someone her father would never except for his beloved daughter. Not because of the mans age, no because of the mans status. Only the best title would have a hope of marrying the Lords daughter. All the better for her of course, the marriage would have proved to bore her to death. She needed a husband with more life to him, one with a sense of adventure.

As she sat day dreaming, just about falling asleep the carriage came to a sudden stop. Nearly tumbling from the seat, she caught herself with the edge of the seat. Curious as to the reason for the stop, she switched her seat to look out the opposite window. She could only barely see the form of a man, standing in their path. He was no human man of course, one could see that right away. The commotion was getting her fathers guards on edge, one even stepped out of formation to confront him. Drawing a sword, and lifting his shield toward the man. Evelyn was on the edge of her seat, were they really going to attack this man because he was in the way. "Father, please don't let them do this," she turned pleading eyes to her father. In return he gave her an angry look.

"He is demon scum, Eve," his eyes turned then towards the man in question. "If he is too dim witted to move out of the way, we don't need him taking up space. Let them do what they are meant to do. I won't hear another word of this." With that her father turned his attention to whatever it was he was reading before all this started.

Eve turned her attention back to the street though, in time to see a woman step forward. Holding her hands out, and saying something she couldn't quite make out. Surely it was something along the lines, to alleviate the issue.

The guard seemed to try making up his mind what to do, but with her a human to his eyes trying for him he wondered a bit if she was the mother. It was rare one such as him had a human mother, but it was not unheard of. The man spit at Knail's feet with a snarl, "Keep that beast in whatever cage he came from. Damn skum mucking up the fine streets go off to old town with ya" He waved the two away hiding the fact he was relieved not having to look like a coward in front of so many.

The man was captain of the routine guards, and a minor lord next time he would have a demon slayer with him one with the strange powers needed to deal with the half breeds who acted out. This man seemed to have dragon's blood in him dangerous as they were all known to be very powerful as well as very selfish. His reckoning was they were lucky the man did not flip the cart it would not be the first time something like that happened, just never to the lord's cart.

Knail waited for the man to be back with the cart before letting out a soft breath the stones, and sand dropping as his colors returned to as they should. Knail dipped his head to the right watching the cart go away a puzzled look on his face. He did not understand any way of getting around that did not involve walking. Knail also hated to be closed in, these carts combined the two which did not work out.

Lalaa was an interesting companion having only been with her a short time, or by his guess she had decided to follow him for some time. He never asked her to follow, but neither had he ever turned her way. Knail would pay for her meal if she wished or let her join him in a room. The man had no fear from others, and seeing as he had only ever had dealt with humans it was clear why. It took a special kind of person either a half breed with power, or a human with demon blood to keep many half breeds in check. Knail made it clear those people were needed if he were to turn to pillaging no one could stop him. Though he only reacted to violence never intentionally starting anything.

He felt a sharp pain in his stomach, his breath magic made him hungry so without a word he headed toward what looked to be a inn. Seeming not to notice the glares of the people. They expected him to go to the slums, not head to the inn where right good folk went to eat after a hard day in the fields. It did not take long for an older man to step in his way after the display to a lord the people clearly liked for them to be tense.

The old man was dressed like a farmer, a dangerous man to piss off if one wanted to work in the town. The man may have little to no rank, but he had been dutifully bringing in his harvests to a grateful city. "What you doing barging into our decent town, like you own the place were you raised by whatever creature had you boy!"

Knail was polite in his way it appeared as though he was trying to move so the man could pass him, but the man was staying in the way. He did not speak often, and would only say 'dangerous' if people threatened him if he refused to say something. In a way he was thankful for Lalaa she always was so good at straightening out his awkwardness.
