This sucked.

It was hard to believe that she'd actually been looking forward to this. Her bones were aching, her lungs burning, and then there was the fact that she smelt like an unholy mix between a wet dog and moldy bread. What little comfort she'd found in the peace had long since vanished, and now all that remained was a bitter resentment towards her own decision. She'd thought the hiking trip would've been a welcome respite from college. A chance to break away from the doldrums of constant studying and massive papers, and opportunity to figuratively let her hair down. So far, however, it was anything but. A faint sigh slipped out of Len's pale lips as she trudged down the barely visible path, baggy gray eyes lingering upon the enshrouded horizon. She'd been told that the path through the Isolde Woods wasn't exactly an easy one. The path hadn't seen much use in quite a bit of time, and had a habit of twisting about at the most inopportune times. Shelter was in short supply as well, not to mention venomous snakes had a habit of napping beneath the rocks. Above all, however, there were the rumors. Of strange noises slipping out of the woods at night, of several hikers having long since gone missing. Your typical hiker would've stayed clear of the forest and taken the long way around via the highway, and yet for whatever reason Len had decided to take the risk. She'd already spent the last week or so trudging about in the boonies, how much worse could some forest be?

A whole lot worse, as it turned out. A faint chill ran through the girl's form as she continued her way down, a faint wince crossing her lips as she shifted the weight of the massive pack upon her shoulder. Though she hadn't had the good 'fortune' of being whimsied away just yet, the forest had done her few favors. People were right when they mentioned how the path was a mess. It twisted and turned, sometimes vanishing completely. Not to mention, the wind had picked up as well. The chill of the Autumn breeze had been pleasant at first, and yet now all it brought was a runny nose and constant shivering. Even worse, from what Len could see at least, the sun was quickly setting. Though she had a sleeping bag with her, the idea of spending the night alone in the creepy forest wasn't exactly something she was keen upon.

"Ugh." With yet another groan she'd slow down to a stop, an ivory-toned hand brushing away a strand of raven hair. Thankfully, she'd at least bundled up a bit. Her long raven hair had been tied back into a simpe bun and hidden beneath a knit cap. Further down, a simple wool coat was wrapped around form alongside long scarf that covered up much of her neck. A pair jeans and hiking boots accompanied the ensemble, and upon the girl's back was a massive pack filled to the brim with a variety of essentials. Though not exactly massive, Len was hardly petite either. Standing at 5'4, years spent on the swim team back in high school had done a fine job at toning her body. As bag as the pack was, she was able to carry it fairly decently.

Wincing as another breeze struck her, the girl trying her best not to shiver, she'd begin to move again. The only sound being her own footsteps and the occasional cry from a distant animal, the young lady could only wonder just how far she was from exiting the woods. It'd already been hours, hadn't it? She had be coming up near the end...she just had too. There was no way she was going to be spending the night in such a place.

Yet, she had no luck. Minutes passed, and the sun above continued to grow dangerously close to the horizon. What little light remained was nothing more than a dim orange glow, and with no end in sight the girl could feel her heart sinking all the more. Maybe she'd stepped off the path by accident? Maybe she was completely lost? The mere thought was enough to make her stomach squirm, her already pale features growing all the more chalky. No, no that was ridiculous...absolutely ridiculous.

And yet.

"Great. Just great." Why couldn't she had just taken the highway instead? Sure, it wasn't as 'adventurous' the worst thing she'd have to worry about was getting splashed by the cars. Why was she so d-

"Huh." Within a split-second the girl came to a sudden stop, her prior misgivings instantly vanishing as her eyes fell across something she had not been expecting. "What in the..."

At the end of the path, nestled between the trees, was a house. Common sense would've dictated keeping a fair distance, and yet...

"Hello?" Shifting the weight of her pack once more, Len took a few steps forward. "Um, is anyone in there?!" Her voice bounced among the trees, and if someone really was in the house then Len knew that they would've had to have heard her. Hopefully, at least.

Eternity was a long time, when time was a factor. It had been a foreign concept to her once, one that she did not grasp, know, not possibly understand. But as she had been exposed to it, had it course through her and pass over her, she had learned it, understood it, and come to loathe it. It was the idle trickle of time that seemed to be the punishment, more than anything else, for her Sins. Or at least the sins that she had been told she had committed. If one were to ask her opinion, she was the victim, the crimes against her heavy enough to warrant her actions. But, there was no disputing the result of her actions, there was no way to escape them, nor run from them. She could only face them and hope, wish, will a change to come, no matter how much time she had to endure before it came about. It would happen, if there was one thing she knew about this realm, it was that will alone, given enough time and focus, could change it.

She had been brought to this realm... She wasn't sure exactly how long ago. Long enough for the forest around her to once have been a town, which was eventually abandoned, the forest around it growing wild and encroaching upon it's boarders. Long enough for that forest to burn down and regrow numerous times. She had been imprisoned there, for so much time, that she had been able to seep her will into each hidden crevasse, every tree and beast within. She had learned that she could not escape the borders of the forest, and so she decided to make it her trap, for those unwary enough to trespass upon her solitude, involuntary as it was. She had a number of visitors, through the ages, enough to keep her alive, enough to keep her will strong enough to power her snare. Never enough though, to allow her escape. A trick of fate, or part of the curse that kept her there? She could never say... But always suspect.

She would twist the perception of those that would enter her web, the trees and undergrowth would shift and turn, guiding them, luring them ever closer. Bringing them to her, to her trap, to the last place they would ever see. The path would be like a ribbon though the forest, twisting this way and that, between tree and leaf, animals would hound and follow, chasing them, forcing them to seek refuge, shelter, a safe haven. They would come to her, begging her to take them in, and she would. She was a spider at the centre of a web that could not be escaped, and any who made her web twitch were in her sights, and she never let them escape. She had to admit, she sometimes thought it may be entertaining to give them a chance, to let them see a glimmer of hope, but the alternative was never pleasing enough for her. She needed them, she needed their essence, their energy, to continue. As bleak as an eternity playing this game was, she would never allow him to win. She would never allow his curse to best her, she would endure, and outlast it, and be free once more.

When she felt the tug upon her web that day, it was a strong one. Stronger than she'd felt in quite a long time. Her attention was piqued, and the hunt began. She guided this one, closer and closer, changing the path, guiding them toward her. Her refuge was the goal, and all she had to do was bring this enticing morsel to her. Being a game that had been played a thousand times before, needless to say, she had become quite efficient at it. Where once it would have taken days, it now took her hours before she could feel this one, brimming with the kind of energy that she had only seen a handful of times before, was within the sight of her home.

The house, as it were, looked like a rather large log cabin, a long porch along the front, with a window on either side of the large wooden door. Golden light emanated from within, flickering this way and that, evidence of a fire, with smoke rising from a tall stone chimney being more evidence of the fact. It radiated a feeling of comfort, of safety, of warmth and welcome. It was the honey that drew in the flies, and she was waiting within. When she heard the voice call out, she smiled, her form taking a more human form. She had silky, raven black hair, cut off at her jaw, warm brown eyes, full lips. Her figure was full of curves, two ample mounds, like hills in her wool sweater. Her hips were womanly, her rump round behind covered by tight jeans that did nothing to hide her figure. She opened the door and let her head poke out as she looked around and spotted the prey that she knew was there.

"Hello there!" She called, opening the door the rest of the way and stepping outside. She gauged the woman that was standing a little ways from the house and thought she looked to be a few inches shorter than she, but still, quite an appetising sight. She had to stop herself from licking her lips in anticipation as she stepped out onto the porch. "Let me guess... You're lost?" She asked, her voice light, almost amused in tone, as she smiled. It was a warm smile, a comforting one, showing no malice or mockery. She was good at this game. "Don't worry too much, there's always someone that comes out this way." She put her hands on her hips and huffed, looking out through a break in the trees in the sky. "I'd tell you to just follow the path behind the house, it leads back to the highway, but it'll be dark long before you make it." She looked at the girl again and crossed her arms for a moment, feigning a picture of concern.

"Look, would you like to come inside? You can spend the night, maybe clean up a bit, and I'll take you out to the road in the morning?"

Seconds passed, only the faint breeze able to be heard as she shuffled about in her spot. Fortunately, she wouldn't have to wait long. With a slight creak the front door of the cabin was pushed open, and within moments she found herself laying eyes upon a figure that drew nothing more than a faint 'meep'. With how far she was out, Len had been expecting the owner of the home to be the typical hermit. A large, oafish man with a scraggly beard perhaps. Or maybe some hunched over, shriveled up oldie. Yet, the woman before her was anything but. Flawless skin, mesmerizing eyes, and obviously well-gifted in 'certain' areas. Indeed, as her gaze lingered for a precious few seconds, the young college student couldn't help but to feel just a tad bit self-conscious of her own appearance. A faint hint of red crossing her cheeks, she'd quickly straighten herself up.

Thankfully, however, the dark-haired woman before her didn't exactly seem to mind much the girl's exhausted appearance. That, or she was simply being polite. With a warm smile and gentle tone, she was quick to offer Len room and board for the night and a way out of the damned forest by morning. A generous offer by any stretch of the word, and if she'd been in a better state of mind Len would've thought of it as almost being too good to be true. Yet, achy muscles and a grumbling stomach washed away most apprehension. "Ah..." A faint, albeit nervous, smile crossed the young lady's lips as she bowed her head. "I'd appreciate it, thank you."

Eager to get out of the cold, it didn't take long for the young lady to close the distance between herself and the welcome sanctuary. The steps creaking beneath her step, she'd be quick to slip through the open door and into the cabin proper. Almost immediately, the chill that had clung to the air had vanished. While the confines weren't toasty, the coziness was still very much welcome. At the very least, she wouldn't have to deal with the coat wearing down upon her shoulders. Unbuckling it to reveal a simple flannel shirt beneath, she'd move to slip it onto the coat rack. "I'm surprised that someone lives out here, actually." She'd murmur, glancing back towards the woman as she removed her cap. "I mean, this place seems pretty far from civilization."

With a yank of her band, the woman's raven hair came spilling down over her shoulders. A bit frazzled from being tied back beneath the knit cap, it none the less managed to maintain a degree of straightness. "Are you, um, here all alone?"

There wasn't any doubt in her mind that the offer would be taken. She'd led this once hither and tither, all across the forest, wearing her down, so that the offer wouldn't be refused. She smiled warmly and stepped aside to let her past as she entered the house. Inside was warm, not stuffy, nor roasted warm, but warm, from the fireplace. There was a fresh scent in the air, refreshing and clean. Inside the door was a small area of stone tiles, a few pairs of shoes, a pair of boots, and a rack for hats and coats. After a step, the rest of the house was wood. The walls and floor were polished wooden boards, the furniture was wooden as well. There was a short couch directly across from the fireplace, and on either side, turned to face the light of the fire, were two comfortable looking sitting chairs. A fur rug sat between the three chairs and the fireplace, looking clean, without any marks of damage from the fire.

From there was a small dining area, with a long wooden table which would have easily sat six, with plain chairs that ran the two lengths, one at the head and foot of the table as well. A small door would lead into the kitchen, which wouldn't be lacking in modern appliances. The lights were off, all the light in the room coming from the fireplace. A few feet to the side of the fireplace was a rather large bookshelf, the sizes and shapes of the books were mismatched, some gaps here and there leaving some of the spines crooked on the shelves. There wasn't much to do there, but read and draw in prey, and prey was often scarce, so she had to make do with what she had, to occupy herself. A staircase led to a loft overhead with her bed and personal belongings.

"Please, make yourself at home." She said as she ushered the girl inside. She smiled and closed the door, removing any hope of the girl escaping her clutches. She smiled a little wider, a sinister look crossing her face for the briefest of moments, before she returned to a warm and welcoming persona. "Well, I don't actually live here. It's just a place that I come out to every now and then, spend some time away from things, you know? I've been here so many times though, it feels like I live out here though..." She added, looking around the place. "I've got to ask though, what exactly were you doing out here? I mean, I know that there's some people that come out into the woods looking to make the next 'Blair Witch Project' or something like that, trying to find those people that go missing, but they're usually in groups."

It was true, there were often times when groups would pass through, looking for those that had fallen prey to her trap. She was sometimes tempted to take them all, but from what she had learned from the minds and souls of her victims through the ages, taking too many would draw too great of a response from outsiders. She'd learned much of the outside world from those she'd preyed upon, enough to keep her appearances, and those of her home, looking up to date. It wouldn't do if her home looked to be centuries old, anyone would be suspicious of that. "If you'd like something to eat or drink, the kitchen is just through there..." She said, pointing to do the door just opposite the dining table. "... Or if you wanted to clean up first, I could show you where the bathroom is."

Rubbing her hands in an effort to stave off what remained of the chill, Len's eyes slowly wandered the confines of the home as she finished hanging up her coat and hat. It was a bit cramped, a bit 'cozy' some would say. It was obvious that the woman did a fine job at keeping the place clean, both the walls and floor free of pretty much any debris. "Hm." The bookshelf in particular caught her attention, eyes twinkling as they brushed over the variety of novels crammed together. If she wasn't someone's guest, curiosity would've made her take a closer look. A childhood spent moving about had left her with precious few 'actual' friends, and books ended up filling that void.

The honeyed voice of her savior snapped the girl out of her thoughts, and turning about she'd lay eyes upon the fair-skinned woman once more. As she did so, something sent a faint chill through her spine. That smile she bore, for a brief moment, didn't exactly seem to meet her eyes. "...ah." Ugh, she was being ridiculous. Hours spent without rest had begun to wear upon her nerves, and though she tried to put on a brave face in all honesty Len really just wanted to cuddle into a ball and head off to dreamland. But first...

"Just a hiking trip." She'd say with a shrug, wearing a tired smile. "Though it'd be a good way to take a break from college, y'know?" Said smile would waver, a hint of dry humor being injected into her tone as she spoke once again. "...'course, I didn't expect to get lost. Kinda put a damper on things."

That was the understatement of the century. At the very least, it seemed like things were starting to pick up. Judging from what the woman had to say, it was a very good thing that she wasn't spending the night out in the woods. Crossing her arms and glancing back towards the closed door, a shadow crossed her face. "But, so, I'm guessing those people weren't pulling my leg? People have actually gone missing? Kind of crazy."

Ugh, that honestly made her all the more grateful. "Anyways," She'd turn back towards the woman. "A bath would actually be great, if that's okay." The day spent trekking about in the woods made her feel absolutely gross, and the sooner she could wash out the dirt and grime the better.

"Oh, also, mind if I ask for a name? I'm Len." A frown crossed her lips. "My, uh, parents had interesting tastes when it came to names."

She gave only a nod when the girl asked if people had actually gone missing. The number was much higher than anyone knew, though she was technically counting over a much greater span of time than a Mortal would, ordinarily. When the girl decided that she'd rather have a bath before anything else, she smiled warmly. "Alrighty, bathroom's just this way." She said, leading the girl, 'Len', as she'd introduced herself, toward the bathroom. It was cosy enough inside, without being cramped. There was a decent sized bath tub, big enough for her to lay back in, so it'd definitely be big enough for Len. Across from the tub was a sink and mirror, and in one corner a shower. The walls were wooden in here as well, but the floor was stone tile, much like the entrance of the house. She knew it'd be cold at first, but the stone tended to take in the heat of the bathroom, and hold it for a time after one got out.

"There's soap, shampoo, everything you need, just there on the shelf." She said, pointing at a small shelf, just over the bath tub. "Oh, and I'm sorry for not saying sooner," She said shaking her head lightly. "... My name is Iris. Len, you said your name was? Hmm... Is that short for anything?" She asked, feeling an odd sensation going up her spine. She didn't know why, but the name was something that spoke to her on a level that she hadn't felt in quite some time.

This woman was a tasty morsel, both physically and spiritually. Iris thought she could just devour her right there, and leave her a gibbering mess for a decade, before she finished her off. To be quite honest, she felt as if she were starving, and it was taking quite a bit of restraint to stop herself from hurrying things along too quickly. She could feel herself salivating at the worst times, but still... She had enough discipline to wait. The best meals were those that one had to be patient for, after all. And what was more, the longer the girl spent in the house, the more malleable she would be later. The entire structure was just dripping with Iris' energies, soaked deep into the foundations and more. If it had not been for the accursed seal and pact that bound her to this realm, she could have pulled half the forest back to her home plane with her, so deeply invested was her very being.

"Uh." Was it short for anything? "I don't think so."

Maybe it was just her nerves, or perhaps exhaustion, but there was something about the woman that gave her at least a bit of pause. Her own gaze lingered, and once more she could feel a faint trail of goosebumps running up her back. It wasn't as though the woman, Iris, was acting out odd. She seemed friendly enough, and really the fact that she was willing to offer some random hiker shelter was something that Len was grateful was. Even so, gratitude did little to stave off the strange sensation. Really, Len's tired eyes lingered, she'd almost say that there was something familiar about the woman standing before her. It was nothing more than a fleeting feeling, and yet it was enough to give the girl a moment's pause. Had she seen her somewhere before? No...no, she very much doubted it. Yet, even so...

"I, erm, thanks again." Life would return to her face, and with another slight smile she'd bow her head. Slipping into the bathroom, she'd quietly close the door, though left it unlatched just in case. It'd been a while since she'd had the chance to get a proper bath, the various hotels she'd stayed at apparently unaware of what a water-heater was. 'Course, she got what she paid for, but even so...this would be a refreshing change of pace.

Minutes later the sound of running water echoed throughout the cozy cabin, a faint trail of steam drifting out from beneath the door. Within, the now undressed Len had slipped into nearly-full tub. Eyes closed, head resting upon the back of the tub, the young lady had slipped into a near daze.

"Ah..." This wasn't exactly what she'd been planning for when she'd first set out on her little trip, but honestly the girl was past caring. She'd just spent the last week trudging about in the boonies, she deserved at least a bit of relaxation. Mind slowly fogging over, the girl allowed herself to be taken into a faint sleep.

As she unconsciously shifted her weight about, one could see a faint mark upon the back of her right shoulder. Though seemingly of a nonsensical design to the unaware, it would perhaps seem at least a bit familiar to the succubus.

Once, there'd be a man who held a similar marking in a similar location.

There was something about this Mortal that was striking her as if she were cast from a different cloth. It wasn't the fact that her energies were greater than most, if not all of the other she'd taken in before. No, it was a texture, a flavour to them that was gnawing away at the very edges of her perception. Like smelling an aroma that one thought they knew, from a very distant past, but couldn't quite place. It was almost maddening, or it would have been, if she'd given it more thought. For the moment, her attention was focused upon the unfolding events within her little home. There was little more for her to focus on than that, she wanted things to go quite smoothly, so that she could enjoy her meal, and she quite hoped that this Mortal would enjoy the meal as well...

She heard the water running in the bathroom, listening outside the door, silent as a shadow, as she waited. After a while, the sound of even breathing sounded the signal for her to step in. The clothing she was wearing before was mostly gone. Beneath the tight pants and sweater, she wore a rather lacy black bra, that barely covered her breasts, her nipples were almost completely visible through them, and her thin and racy panties were to match. She stepped into the steamy room and looked down at the naked figure beneath the water, feeling her body throb with nearly uncontrollable desire. This too, was part of her meal, the savouring of it, the wait, the control... She would unleash herself upon the Mortal, all but soon enough. For now, she would wait, and let her desire build, till she could contain it no more...

It was then that she saw it, or rather felt it. Like a pull of her eyes, a tingle on the back of her neck. She could feel that there was something upon the back of this woman. She reached down, her fingers dipping beneath the hot water to touch her shoulder. As soon as her fingers grazed the mark that was there, a shot of memories, sharp and distinct, as if they had occurred only moments before, rushed through her mind. She saw Him. His face, his scent, his aura and his power. She heard his voice as he cried out in pain, she felt his curse slam into her and pin her there in that place. It was the same... She was the same. She was of him, of his kin, of his blood, of his soul. No wonder she felt familiar in the most foreign of ways... It was something that was burned into the deepest depths of her soul.

She felt her hands wanting to go to the woman's throat, to strangle her, to drown her in a thousand years of maddening hatred, but she stopped herself short. No... That would not help. There was an opportunity here... Perhaps... Perhaps a chance... To hope... A chance for freedom. In this girl flowed the same blood as the one that had called her here. In this one's blood was the same power as the one that had bound her here. If she could tap into that power, drain it and make it her own, then there was a chance that she could escape and be done with this realm once and for all. Perhaps, she would even take this one back with her, as punishment for the crimes of her Kin. She would let her live a thousand years as her pet and slave, so that she could know the torment that had been inflicted upon her.

For the first time in what had to have been months, Len felt at peace. At least, to a degree. No more tests, no more planning, no more stumbling about in the boonies in hopes that Lady Luck would throw her a boon. Any worries were quickly washed away the moment she'd slipped into the water, and now in her state of near slumber a thick fog had descended over the young lady's mind. For once, she could relax. The slumber she'd been lulled into was a light one, but even so the girl didn't take note of the sound of the door slowly creaking open. Nor did she hear the gentle patter of bare feet as her half-naked host slowly descended upon her.

"Ah...!"

At least, until her hand brushed against the mark. A faint jolt suddenly coursed through Len's naked form, and within moments life returned to the young lady's eyes. The relief from before vanished, shoulders tightening as she whipped her head about to come face to face with the dark haired woman. Almost immediately she recoiled at the sight of her underwear clad form, and yet it was hardly from disgust.

"M-Miss...Iris?" Eyes wide, blinking, she tried to keep her attention upon the woman's face. A closer inspection would show a faint hint of red adorning her cheeks. "What're you doing...?" The words held a measure of confusion to them. Shoulders tensing all the more, she bit her lip.

(Sorry for the shortness)

The girl seemed to jerk awake at the same time that Iris made the connection between her and the one that had called her to this plane. Perhaps that symbol upon her back was more than a simple birthmark, or family crest... She frowned for the briefest of moments, wondering if it didn't have something to do with Iris herself. When the girl, Len, looked up at her and asked her what she was doing, Iris could see the slight trace of alarm on her face, but the touch of colour coming to her cheeks was telling her something else as well. It was telling her that her powers were beginning to influence this one already... Good... Good, that made things much easier. She wanted this one, in a way unlike any of the others. She wanted this one to be hers, not just as food, not just as a source of power, but as a key to her freedom. She licked her lips lightly, her eyes roaming the young woman's in the water, before they came back to her eyes.

"I'm sorry for waking you like that..." She said, her voice was a soft, sweet whisper. "I... Well, I'd forgotten to bring in some towels for you, so I thought I would..." She said, and waved a hand toward a small table in the corner of the bathroom. A white towel, matching the colour of the table it rested upon seemed to appear out of thin air, and she grabbed it, holding it up for the girl. "That, and you'd been in here for a while, so I just had to make sure you were alright." She stood up, looking down at the girl with a very friendly smile. "But I'll let you... I'll let you clean up. If there's anything you need, anything at all, just give me a call, and I'd be happy to help you with whatever you need."

She turned to leave, but stopped at the door, looking over her shoulder at the young woman, biting her bottom lip in a display of reluctance. Her eyes lingered on Len, a hungry look hidden behind her eyes, the kind of look that a predator has as it gazes at it's prey. She wanted nothing more than to be free of the scarce clothes she was in, and in the water with Len, to be having her way with her, placing her under her whim and fancy. But no... She needed this one in particular to come to her, to want her, to call for her. She needed her desires to be genuine for her control over the girl to be complete, to take control of her body and her soul. "Don't forget, anything at all..." She said, before she stepped out and half closed the door behind her.
