Daniel watched the microwave as their popcorn cooked inside. The smell of butter already lingered throughout the living room of their small apartment which was only meant for him and his younger sister for them to be able to be near their schools.Tonight, his sister was out with his friends but he made her swear to come back home a little earlier mainly because he planned to surprise her with a movie night. After all, it was their favorite past time. He couldn't remember when they started becoming so close. Daniel remembered back then during their childhood when they'd always bicker and fight each other about almost everything. Back then, they weren't close AT ALL. They practically hated each other but when they started living on their own, things changed. In fact, his sister's room only served as a storage room for her things because she now sleeps in his room.

Pleased with the result, Daniel smiled as he took out the bag of popcorn. He popped it open and placed its contents in a bowl. He took it inside his room and placed it on the middle of the floor. Around it were throw pillows and his sister's stuffed animals. It looked a lot like a girls' slumber party, really, and though it was a bit awkward for a guy like him, he knew his sister loved it anyway so he needed to be okay with it as well.

Once his whole room was set, Daniel got up and walked back to the living room. His sister should be home any minute now.

She waved cheerily at her friends as she stepped from their car, long blonde hair tumbling down her shoulders and trailing to the small of her back. They'd begged her to stay out a bit longer, that they were going to a house party and they wanted her to join them, but Emma had politely declined. Her brother made sure she promised to come home early that night, something about a surprise of some sort, that he needed her. She'd agreed, spending time with her brother had always been fun, especially since they'd moved in together for school. As the car backed from the driveway, her hands moved down to smooth the fabric of her black skirt, then moving up to adjust the white v-neck shirt she had tucked in to the skirt. Her long legs were clad in black thigh high stockings, and she wore simple black flats.

Walking up the driveway and to the front door, green eyes peered in to her purse as slender fingers fished around for her copy of the house key. Finally procuring it, she stuck it in to the lock of the door, twisting and then letting herself inside. "I'm home!" She called out cheerily, setting her purse down on the table by the door before slipping her shoes off her feet. She sniffed the air, recognizing the delicious scent of popcorn as it wafted through the entryway. She grinned, knowing that popcorn could only mean movie night! She shuffled her way down the entryway, noticing her brother as he sat on the couch in the living room. "Movie night?" She asked excitedly, "I smell popcorn!"

Daniel was lying down on his bed and idly scrolling on his Facebook news feed when he heard the door of their apartment opening and closing, followed by the happy greeting of his sister. He emerged from his room with a smile and a mood that matched up his sister's enthusiasm though upon scanning her attire, Daniel frowned. No matter how old they had gotten, he will always be his little sister and he can't help his big bro attitude from attacking once in a while.

"You didn't bring home any boy, did you?" He asked as he raised a brow. "And no asshole hooted you in the mall?" He did that punching thing with his hand but eventually, he sighed in defeat. "Alright, nevermind that. I know you can take good care of yourself BUT the moment some guy does anything fishy with you, you're going to tell me and I'm going to beat his ass, understood?"

Smiling once more, he took her hand and led her to his room. "In any case, we have movie night tonight. You get to pick which movie."
