Beep! Beep! Beep!

A low groan elicited from a still half-asleep figure. If anyone else were around, they'd pinpoint the source belonging to a female who clearly didn't want to get up. A single white-blue orb opened as she glanced first at the time, the red digits reading 06:30 AM. Her head began to fall back on the pillow as she pondered why she'd been so foolish to set such an early alarm. She didn't even have university classes today. It was a Saturday, she had a rare day off. But alas, it was when her eye managed to note her calendar that she pushed herself into a sitting up position.

"... That's right ... " She murmured, her head bowing as she sighed softly. A hand that had been stable almost immediately began to shake.

While the current day was November 5, 2016, her mind wasn't fully on the here and now per se. No, it was thinking to this same day nine years ago. Her nervous tick had subconsciously kicked in as Suki gripped her lower lip with her teeth; all with no second thoughts. Even with nearly a decade having passed, it still affected her as if her mentor's death had occurred a few hours ago.

Tch, don't fuck with yourself. He didn't die ... you know that.

It was likely one of the most major reasons it was so significant to her. The other was said man whom she was going to visit had been a major influence in her life.

Like many who had know L, she had been raised in the Wammy Orphanage. L hadn't just been her best friend. Oh no. He had been like a mentor of sorts to her.

So when she had been abruptly told his life had been taken by Kira ... she wasn't just distraught. Oh no. Suki was infuriated. It didn't help she had been fourteen when this occurred nor did learning the more exact methods of how L had died. It wasn't anything close to natural. It was all far from it.

As her mind began to painfully help her remember the details, Suki's body began subconsciously acting. Standing up to her feet, she began changing out of her nightgown and into more appropriate attire for a visit to L's grave.

Ten years ago had been when Light had found that damnable notebook. Even at her young age, she had been able to join up with L in the same police task force and thus wound up being shown the same item that Light had had the misfortune of finding all those years ago; the Death Note.

A normal human would shrug the appearance of a seemingly innocent looking black book off. And gods did she wish Light had done just done that. But no. He had to open it, explore it, and give into his twisted sense of humor.

By now, a fresh set of tears were threatening to fall down Suki's face. But her head weakly shook from side to side. Not yet. Maybe when she arrived at her destination. But not in this efficiency. The bright orbs glanced down to herself and gave a small nod of approval, having finished getting dressed in a nice blouse and set of blue jeans with a crimson bra and panties underneath. Slipping her sneakers on, her mind wandered back once again.

She had no qualms with Light wanting to help out with his concept. The ability to deal with criminals appropriately was a damn good idea. However, sinking to that same level and killing them without a trial ... that was where she would put her foot down. It was inhuman and unfair for any one individual to be a judge, jury, and executioner all at once. But that was exactly what Light had wound up doing, even extending the acts to killing off FBI and other police agents.

He wound up as many other people; power hungry and desperate for more. One could say the book literally drove him insane, given he never used to be this way. Or that was what the reports said. But more than those, it had been what L had tried so adamantly to reassure Suki of.

And now ... her only friend and former mentor was gone from the man he had put so much faith and trust in. The knowledge of just how far Light had gone to betray and kill L made her tremble more.

Plain white socks and a black pair of sneakers finally adorned her feet as Suki stood up to her full height of five and a half feet. Like many Asians, she was short, especially at her current age of twenty years old. Ah well. She was a few inches taller than most others at least.

White-blue orbs scanned her room once again as she began desperately seeking out a few vital items. The keys to get back here, her wallet, and a small slip of paper which she slid into one of the empty pockets of her wallet. That last item would be dealt with later. Besides, she doubted the ... person would be conscious by then.

Her feet finally began to lead Suki out of her place of residence and towards one of the local flower shops. Before she caught the subway, she would buy what L deserved to have set near his grave; a single red rose. After paying the cashier, Suki then headed to the subway station. Thankfully, she hadn't taken too long to get ready and thus had to only wait a few minutes for the swift mode of transportation to arrive.

Even if he had been older than herself, there was yet another reason why the loss of L had taken as much of a toll on her. She had been almost positive that somewhere, Suki had loved L. It was foolish, especially with the age difference between them. But he had been the only person to fully understand him. And given even Near hadn't been able to perform such a feat, it was a big deal. But now, he was gone! Wrongfully stolen from this earth! The uncertainty of how she truly saw her former mentor added onto years of torment and confusion with herself.

Rather ironic, given she was going for a Criminal Justice major and Psychology minor.

The light hissing of the subway made her snap back to reality. As the doors opened, she gazed up in time to see it was her stop. Stepping quickly off, she then walked a few more blocks and finally arrived into the cemetery. She could have driven here, yes. But Suki had a soft spot for watching the sun rise and set; they were her favorite times of the day.

Her feet shook as she led herself to his grave. The amount of ease and how fast Suki arrived all but hinted how many times she had been here.

And now .. she was back in almost the exact same state that appeared to dominate her during each visit.

She sank to her knees and set the rose down. No sooner than it left her hands did that same set of tears which had tried to leave the young woman's eyes back at her residence.

" ... L .... "

It was so stupid and frustrating how this one incident could make her feel so pathetic and weak. But poor Suki just couldn't help it. More than that, it'd be best to get this all out of her system now. After all, she did have a job that needed to be done after this.

But that could wait. For now, she would get her frustrations and sobs out while the chance remained.

Her head bowed as she stayed knelt before the tombstone. No words left her lips. They all raced through her head, essentially making Suki more or less talk mentally to herself. But it seemed better than doing so verbally, lest she actually seem or look insane.

Damnit, L. Why you? Why?

The unanswered question made more tears stream down her face, a few falling onto her clothes as Suki continued to pour her heart out in front of her deceased friend's grave.
