a big, big city.
      • In the moment of praying, none of them knew what was going to happen in less than five minutes. On her knees with her head bent, the area surrounding her was filled with incense, the meditation of praying to the Divine one wasn't one she had mastered, but she was getting rather close to doing so. Thick curls of black falling over her each side of her face, bangs clipped away and out of her eyes, exposing her pretty face to the candles lit around her as she rose her head just slightly. Full lips at a natural pout as she parted them to let out a soft, seemingly relieved sigh, she seemed unsettled about something, and she knew better than to just admit to that, keeping it to herself. Standing carefully, her bare feet were silent as she moved down the narrow space between rows and rows of seats, amber eyes dusting over the ground before letting her fingers gently dust over the two short black lines under her right eye; Identification as a young priestess.

Upon opening the door however, the nineteen year old found herself looking out to the area designated for religious design to be in ruins, burning, and brute like men ravaging through homes and already bodies of people who had died in silence, not breaking their vows in their final hours. Between the surprise and stunned images flashing through her head, apparently one of the barbarians had spotted her, considering they were going to burn the church down as well, it was an awkward struggle between the two, which soon became three, of them, the woman evidently not having committed to complete pacifism. "Don't- Don't you touch me!" She screamed, flailing her arms and letting one of her heavy hands crash into a man's head, though she was soon outmatched because they were much larger than the female, who only stood at a simple five six, was.

And unfortunately, before she knew it, her world went black.[/list:u][/list:u][/list:u]

The bellow of horns and thunder of war-drums gave rhythm to the destruction of the city. A throng of men, raiders mounted on horses 18 hands tall, covered in thick studded leather barding galloped through, setting fire to everything and anything that would burn. Those who fleed were either taken down by mounted archer, or would find their head cleaved from their bodies by blade or axe, or their skull shattered by the heavy head of a hammer.

Everything even slightly valuable was loaded into sacks, including any movable metals. It would all be smelted down and re-used, spoils of war that would contribute to the blood-thirsty culture of these nomadic warriors. Although, even in such absolute destruction a small handful of men had the courage to fight back.

Five defenders stood in a circle, backs facing each other. Large shields and swords clutched tight, the men fought off two of the invaders. Block and strike, dodge and retaliate, parry and counter. Eventually an opportunity was found and the men broke ranks, raining blows down on their opponents until the two offenders were butchered like pigs. The staunch footmen, emboldened by their minor victory howled with triumph and rushed forward, determined to make their valiant last stand.

One man, bent at the knee in twisted prayer to the Blood God heard the unfamiliar voices, but recognized the cry. He swiftly finished the blood-letting ritual, dropping the feeble old priest who'd served as provider for the ritual to the ground of the burning church. The scene was almost cinematic as the tribal warlord himself, master-mind behind this attack strode slowly, gracefully out from the razed building. As his broad, scaled mail covered shoulders passed the threshold the entire church came crumbling down, nothing more than a pile of smoldering timbers.

That steady, confident pace lead the man straight into the path of the five survivors. The emotionless expression on the warlord's face did not change in the slightest as he stopped and planted his feet. In one graceful motion the spiked chain that was wrapped around his waist and legs was pulled away. Then, that chain was set spinning through the air with the greatest of ease, building momentum until it was nothing more than a blurred curtain of certain death.

The confrontation was over before it even began, two precise strikes from the chain ripped away three throats. The third man disembowled with a dervish spin, the fourth and fifth blinded then exsanguinated. No sound came from the remorseless victor's mouth as he strode over the corpses, making his way towards the docks of the now ravaged city.

Fifteen minutes later the entire raiding party was re-united in front of their warship, carts heavily laden with precious metals, fine clothing, and other valuables. At least 10 new slaves were bound and shackled, though one of them was laid almost reverently out on her own cart, ankles and wrists bound. A young woman, nineteen at the most, and currently unconscious. The warlord stepped forward and tilted his head, looking down curiously at the strange twin markings beneath her right eye.

Markings was a concept the man was quite familiar with, his own body was covered by tattoos and ritualistically treated battle-scars. The most prominent of them being two symmetrical lines, thick at the top of his eyebrows that slowly tapered down to twin points at the middle of his cheeks. The lines were broken when his eyes were open, yet the design did stretch over his eyelids so that they would be whole during sleep, deep contemplation, or in his eventual death.

      • It was evident darkness, the sort that left you not feeling anything or even hearing anything for that matter. Perhaps she would have heard the sound of death a bit more clearly than she had before while inside the church. Evidently she had been praying at the right, and yet still wrong time. Unfortunately, upon fighting at being grabbed, she had been hit in her head and surprisingly not killed because evidently that wasn't the intention with the blow she had taken. The tan skin, that left one with the knowledge that the people of this city were not her people, of her legs exposed thanks to the awkward way she had been set down, more so dropped. Unfortunately, waking up was worse than being knocked down and out, the tingling sensation on her head turning into a burning one, her head turning and full lips parting to let out a gasp for air.

The feeling of the side of her head throbbing, hair stuck to the side of her face on the accords of blood and sweat, her chest rising and falling in another gasp for air, finally retaining a regular breathing habit only to find someone lurking above her. There wasn't a scream, due to the dry spell settling in her throat, though there was a mildly frightened expression toying with the features of her pretty face, wincing at the searing pain and letting her eyes move up to the sky; What was once clear and calm was now black, filled with ugly clouds of smoke. Eyes watering up due to the evident fact that it easily meant there were little people left alive, despite how now there were less screams and sounds of people dying, the scent of burning wood and bodies filled the air like the incense had the church.

With an attempt to raise her arm, her wrist was instantly bitten by the rope that held her down, feeling the force pulling down her legs as well, amber eyes shot their way up again, narrowed into slits, and found the man she presumed to be in charge. Truthfully, it didn't matter if he was of any important ranking, it mattered that he was a part of this destruction, an addition to what had happened, and with enough of that just cause? She despised him automatically.[/list:u][/list:u][/list:u]

"You did well in sparing her, she looks to be the jewel of this place."

Vallios reached down and pulled her from the cart in one easy motion, draping her over his right shoulder. Somehow the swift transition was not jarring in the least, a smooth and graceful movement. Vallios reached down and retrieved his own horn, ivory white and emblazoned with ironwork sigils and other tribal markings. One deep inhalation and then Vallios sounded the horn, the booming call signifying the raiding party's departure. Quickly and efficiently the men filed on board, loading their hoardings with the utmost haste.

And so the priestess' new life began, carried onto a warship by one of the most powerful men in the entire assembly of tribes. The young girl should feel honored...Though, she probably felt nothing but hatred for those who'd just decimated everything she'd once known and loved.

      • His words registering in her head, her tongue licked at her soft lips for a moment, knowing she would need to regain a bit of feeling in them before she said anything, and evidently he wasn't going to give her the opportunity. Now being an accessory to his right shoulder, her full chest pressed awkwardly to a portion of his back, the pain of her head was only getting no where positive, closing her eyes and gritting her teeth. Well, if God was going to take care of things, it would be wonderful, quite wonderful, if he did it now. Then again, this was perhaps why she was told to spend most of her time in the church, being mildly impatient was only something that came natural for an almost nineteen year old woman.

"Put. . Me DOWN!" Her voice not coming out as a croak though clearly audible in its naturally soft tone, accent proving again that she wasn't particularly of these people. That, however, didn't mean she hadn't grown familiar with all of the people slaughtered in this city, raising her head uncomfortably to see what she hadn't wanted to see. A head and a set of headless bodies later and her eyes found themselves staring at the cloth that covered this brute's skin, the sound of hard footsteps now all the more apparent on board this ship full of barbarians. There was a nauseated feeling rising within her, eyes closed as her body shifted for the second time since being set on his shoulder like a piece of meat.

Apparently, that's what she was, and mentally deciding that as big as he was, the drop from his shoulder to the ground looked pretty deep. And she already had a dizzy spell coming around.

        ooc : it's totally fine~[/list:u][/list:u][/list:u]

"You are in no position to place demands, but I will let you down. Let's hope you have solid sea-legs."

With a wicked chuckle Vallios set the girl down, knowing her bound feet and tied wrists would do nothing to help her balance. The sea was rocky, white caps crashing against the hull of the boat and causing the entire structure to shake. The gathered raiders stood firm and unmoved, looking as comfortable as if they were standing on even ground on a warm summer day. The sound of whips cracking below deck ripped through the air, breaking the chorus of the howling winds.

Propelled by both the wind and many sets of oars, the warship was swiftly heading for it's home port. Vallios wandered off for his well furnished sleeping chambers, deciding that a small nap would definitely be a good thing. The second he was out of sight two of the larger men came stalking over to the priestess, one of them reaching down and giving her rear a firm squeeze.

"My, my, my...Don't you look delicious. I think you'll compliment the other thralls nicely." He growled.

      • The tone of his voice was eery, picturing it as rather scary in certain situations that she didn't feel like imagining, amber eyes rolled slightly when he stated that he would set her down anyway. Unfortunately, his latter comment was something she didn't have in this particular situation, another awkward stance later and she fell forward, rear in the air and letting out an annoyed sigh. Closing her eyes and deciding it would only make sense to pray at this point in time, pray that she managed to at least get the ropes off her ankles, though it was only a few short minutes until she felt a hand somewhere it shouldn't be.

Of course she had never been touched like that before, and the shock was prayer shattering, eyes growing wide and instantly squirming about on the ground. Shifting her body and rolling onto her stomach, the same eyes that had been filled with shock were momentarily struck with fear at two of the large men that loomed over her now; Jesus, they were all huge. The tone in his voice generating her eyes narrowed down back to their slits, speaking instantly, "Don't you touch me!" Keeping herself from screaming out in anger, she knew that speaking in such a way wasn't too great considering the amount of rope holding her wrists and ankles, at least she still had her voice.[/list:u][/list:u][/list:u]

"Don't touch me!" One of the men mocked her shrill tone, before reaching down and giving both of her breasts a hard squeeze.

BANG! The door of the cabin flew open, hinges crying out as they twisted and nearly snapped. Vallios had been watching the entire conflict from the window of his quarters, and was more than disgusted by it. It was amazing how quickly Vallios moved, hurling himself off the raised ledge above deck. The leap brought him square onto the shoulders of one of the men, Vallios lashing out to grip the other by the throat with his right hand. With a thud all three men went to the ground, Vallios restraining the offenders with surprising ease despite the fact that he was a few inches shorter, and considerably more lean than the two massive men.

But of course, this was why Vallios was warlord. His body, entirely lean corded muscle was almost lithe, and yet he had the strength to bring a bear down with not but his own hands. Rage caused Vallios to shake, his tone livid as he spoke...Though his words were barely above a whisper. A promise of death should these men dare to disobey him.

"She is not yours to soil. Should you lay so much as another finger on her I'll have you quartered and fed to the wolves."

      • Another grab and the prominate realization that she had just been violated after feeling his large hands grasp and squeeze on her apparently attractive chest, not only that but mocked; It was unfortunate to be bound in situations like these, not to say she could do too much if she wasn't bound. Sadly, this seemed as though it were one of those situations where God would be taking his time, however, they all seemed to be a bit stunned at the sound of the door flying open, her eyes that had been slammed shut back to staring at the scene before her.

Well. Apparently the Divine one did work in mysterious ways, though that didn't mean she was going to give any trust to this man, managing to sit up and work her arms around her knees, hands that were once idle now twiddling with the rope around her ankles. However, it was what came after such an odd scene of fighting with his own men that left her pausing on her handy work, hair having slid over the sides of her face upon looking up again. That was protection she wasn't particularly expecting, not to say she was going to open her mouth and complain about it, although that did mean that apparently there would be someone else to soil her?

No, she was much too stubborn to let that happen, having already been grabbed inappropriately, she found that that was enough soiling for a lifetime. Hands situating themselves back down over her legs, the soft skin of her shins and calve muscles exposed as she worked in an effort to free herself from the set of rope.[/list:u][/list:u][/list:u]

"I'd advise you leave those ropes where you are, lest they be replaced by irons." The victor of the brawl growled.

Vallios did not harbor any fondness for this woman. As of now she was no more than a trophy, to be awarded to whomever the council of elders declared worthy of having her. In the back of his mind he had a feeling it would be him, though he could not yet claim what was rightfully his until it was given. And so, she'd get his cold protection, as if he was the curator and her the valuable display. The two men stumbled away, both looking rather punch-drunk from the sudden and vicious ambush.

Then silence fell over the ship as they continued their voyage to home port, Vallios standing a silent guard over the captive. He waited for her to speak, wondering what she'd say in the sudden quiet. He figured it'd be threats of divine wrath, or random statements of hate. But of course, she could surprise him.

      • She was quite sure that he already knew that God's divine power would shower over him and the rest of his barbaric comrades, probably not in the same way it had come to her people, but God would fix it in due time. . Hopefully. Shaking said thought from her head when her hands tensed up, though stopped at fiddling with the ropes when he threatened with something she couldn't try to work her way out of, her ankles slid down in a guide to smooth her legs out. Legs now flat and managing to keep her balance as the ship rocked, she had never been on one of these things before, silently surprised she wasn't nauseous out of her mind and leaning over the railings.

At least now the rope wasn't entirely around her ankles, just a little bit above to give them some slack, not entirely enough for her to be able to stand on her own, leaning forward slightly, wondering how in the world these grown men put up with the constant silence. Constant silence, then violence, maybe some shouting, then back to silence. Now here was the situation, a moment of trying to figure out what the Divine one would do in this situation, closing her eyes and parting her lips, "Thank you." Alright, so she didn't care for him in the slightest as a person, although it was best to stay calm, this being one of the reasons she had closed her eyes, not to mention to keep herself from looking at who she was thanking, head directed toward her lap regardless.

Either way, God was still going to punish them all. [/list:u][/list:u][/list:u]
