World of the Living Dead (loneiysong & CrimsonMaster)

Daisy leaned against hawk keeping her gun ready just in case one wandered too close. But morning came. Daisy walked with hawk. She needed to talk to him. For her own state of mind than to tell him something. She saw the tracks. She knew they would have been screwed of someone given to panic was with them. She went to the bikes. Getting on she rode beside hawk wishing her brain would give her a damned break.

Soon they stopped at a bar and grill. She stepped off and took the AK. She nodded as hawk gave her a refresher course. She smiled as hawk knocked on the door. "Smart." She then waved down the offer of a cigarette. While they waited, she looked at hawk. "I am sorry about being selfish the other day. I don't want to hurt anyone else. I feel horrible about it. I guess I have been alone too long." She kicked at a rock at her feet not bothered by the scratching of walkers. "I promise I will be better. I guess too that seeing someone so intimate I just wanted to give them privacy." She would cry if they were in a safer situation but crying clouded vision and the mind.

She nodded to the plan and waited for hawks signal and let the walkers out then ran around back. She got some good barbecue sauce that expired in five years. She found a cloth bag and grabbed that. All the meat was rotten and spoiled. She grabbed a few different bottles of alcohol because not only did it soothe the nerves it disinfected wounds in a pinch. She continued to look around.

Hawk grabbed the first walker who came out the door. He tossed that one down the stars before sending a crushing blow into the female walker's head with his tomahawk. Hawk took her now limp body, spun around and tossed it to the male walker. This made him fall to the ground and he was now trapped under the female's body. Hawk removed his tomahawk from the woman's head and crushed the male's head in. He cleaned the blade edge before moving the bodies away from the steps. Hawk then walked inside the bar looking around. He could see Daisy grabbing some items. Hawk took a look behind the bar where he found a lighter and some matches. He also found a couple pf unopened packs of cigarettes. He stashed them into the pouch on his belt. Hawk then laid some chips on the bar before grabbing a large plastic jug of beef jerky. After looking around a bit more, Hawk found a shotgun and some shells. Extra weapons was always a good find. Hawk moved everything he found in one place. He then went into the back to find Daisy. Just outside, a black van pulled up. Three men slowly got out taking a long look around. Two were armed with automatic rifles while the third had a pump shotgun. The three men moved slowly towards the bar. They spotted the now dead walkers outside laying near the steps. It was possible that someone was here, but it was possible they were gone by now. One man sent the guy with the shotgun around back. He was going to check around there before entering the building from the rear. The other two were going straight inside.

Daisy smiled as she watched hawk come in and nodded letting him look around. Daisy looked around. She took hawks loot and put it in the bag. She then saw the black van and knew they were traders. Without waiting a second, daisy grabbed hawks hand and pulled him into the females bathroom. She didn't want to take a chance. She pulled her AK and slung the bag of supplies over her shoulder. She was scared. Really scared. Hawk would see the worry and age beyond her years fill her eyes.

Hawk had just spotted the on coming trouble when Daisy grabbed his hand. Before he knew it, she had pulled him into the women's restroom. The two men entered the bar as Hawk glared at Daisy. He was upset that she pulled him away to hide. There was no way of knowing who was out there, or how many there was. As much as Hawk would hate to admit it. He wasn't Superman and he couldn't see through walls. Hawk just sighed while shaking his head. Daisy needed to learn how to trust Hawk. She wasn't on her own anymore and running wasn't Hawk's style. He would have found some cover so Hawk could watch these men. See how many were in their group and see what types of weapons they had. Hawk dropped his cigarette on the floor, then crushed it out with his boot. He told Daisy to get into a stall and wait there. Hawk then moved towards the door. He took up a position just behind the door leading into the lady's room. Just as Hawk guessed, the door swung open and a man stepped inside. Hawk had been smoking and he was sure those men would smell the smoke. As the man moved into the women's room, Hawk pulled his knife. Hawk came up from behind the man, grabbed him by the mouth. This kept the man from crying out as Hawk's knife drove deep into his back. Hawk's knife of choice was a 15 inch long Bowie knife which he kept in his boot. The knife was driven in with such force, it broke the man's ribs before passing through the man's heart.

Hawk let the man fall to the floor. He walked over to the stall where Daisy was waiting. Hawk lightly knocked on the door and told her to come out. He said for her to search the man and see what she could find. The man had an M-16 which was still held in his hand as he laid there. It was possible that he had more weapons. A pistol and perhaps a knife of some type. Hawk said he was going into the bar. He moved back to the door and listened for a moment. Hawk could hear someone tossing things around in the kitchen. He slipped the Bowie knife back into his boot and pulled out his tomahawk. Hawk planned on killing silently so as not to alert whoever was in the kitchen. He opened the door slowly and spotted a man standing there about 25 feet away. This man started to turn while calling out the name Marvin. This must have been the name of the man Hawk just killed. Before the man could react, Hawk threw his weapon. The tomahawk cut quickly through the air and landed squarely in the man's head. He dropped on the floor with the tomahawk buried in his skull. Hawk exited from the restroom and removed his weapon. He ducked down in front of the bar as the third man appeared from the kitchen. This man had found some canned goods which Daisy hadn't picked up yet. Hawk suddenly jumped up as he called out to his friends. This man was greeted with a crushing blow from the tomahawk.

Daisy saw the anger in Hawks eyes. She was not afraid that he woudl hit her, this was a different type of anger. One she felt deep down when a nurse made a stupid choice and didn't tell her what they were doing and a patient ended up more sick than before. She swallowed and released his hand quickly as if it had been hot and stepped back and looked down and nodded gently as if something unspoken passed between them. She was upset he told her to go to the stall. She frowned deeper but did as he told her. She climbed on top of the u-bend keeping her balance. Just in case someone came in, they wouldn't see her feet. She heard the crunch and peeked out after Hawk knocked on the door. She nodded and moved to the man on the floor and noticed that the brain wasn't damaged. She had to work quickly and efficiently.

Kneeling down, she pulled out her trusted pistol and held it in one hand while she checked his pockets. She found a wallet and held the gun to his head. He was going to come back, she knew it. She found a silencer and raised both eyebrows. That would come in handy. Tucking it into her pants, she let her guard drop for a second. The groaning brought her back, her eyes went wide as the zombie reached out adn grabbed her and pulled her down growling and pulling her in for a bite. She struggled hard against the vice grip but finally broke the grip and shot him once in the head. Instantly the zombie went still. She shivered just kneeling there with his belongings in her pockets and her face was white as a sheet.

She began to sweat and rocked a bit and tears rolled down her face. This was the time to let herself cry. She began to sob a bit and curled up under the sink crying holding the pistol she had killed the monster with. She continued to cry feeling so finished. They all were living on borrowed time. She continued to cry.

Hawk had just pulled his tomahawk from the third man's head when he heard the shot ring out. " Oh shit! " Hawk cursed out as he ran into the restroom. He had thought the man was dead, yet it was possible he remained alive long enough to kill, or injure Daisy. Hawk looked down at the man laying there. What was left of his brains were now scattered a crossed the floor. Hawk was shocked upon seeing the man's eyes had turned a milky white color. The eyes of all zombies were a strange milky color. They could see, but this was a sure sign of a zombie. Hawk never did understand how zombies could see through that stuff which covered their eyes, but they could. He quickly spotted Daisy on the floor. Hawk rushed over to her and wrapped his arms around her. He held Daisy close saying that he was sorry for leaving her. Hawk hadn't seen anyone died without being bitten. He had only seen those people who had been bitten by zombies die and return. Hawk didn't know it was possible for someone to die and return without being bitten. But it happened and he could see the man had changed. This left Hawk wondering if everyone was infected with whatever caused the dead to rise? While Hawk hadn't finished medical school, or even got through his first year. He knew the answer would be in their blood. If some foreign body was inside their blood, it would show up. Hawk needed to find a hospital, or doctor's office. Those places would have the equipment Hawk & Daisy needed to test their blood.

" Hey......Come on.......I need you straight now. " Hawk said after giving Daisy a chance to let it all out. He pulled back and looked at her. " We need to work together if we're going to survive.........But I need you to be strong. " Hawk said as he stood and pulled Daisy to her feet. " Come on........We need to check that van out and there's something I want to do. " Hawk added before leading Daisy out of the restroom. He took a quick look around for more trouble. There was no signs that anyone else was around. Hawk told Daisy that should check the van quickly and get out. There was no way of telling if more raiders were nearby and if they would come looking for their friends.

Daisy heard Hawk running. She wouldn't cry in front of him. No way. She just got quiet. She looked down at the zombie. She swallowed. Hawk didn't check her, stupid. She had bruises forming on her arms. She leaned into his arms. She wanted to say how sorry she was, how stupid she was. She sighed and shut her eyes. She then looked up at him. She nodded and wiped her eyes. She stood up and looked at him and put her weapons away. Then they moved to the van. She looked at him and nodded and got up and opened the back doors and searched through them. She found a full duffel of weapons, several cartons of cigarettes. She looked around for anything else.

She jumped out handing Hawk the cigarettes and the duffel bag. She showed him the hunting bow and grinned. "Look how neat is this? You can keep using it and as long as you keep the arrows, you will never run out." She smiled adn then looked at him and handed it to him by way of apology.

Hawk was impressed with what they found inside the van. It was quite a haul and way to much for the bikes. Hawk thanked Daisy for the bow. He had been looking for one since this started. Now they could have fresh meat whenever Hawk got the chance to kill some. Hawk suggested that they load the bikes into the van and just take it. He said those guys wouldn't be needing it anymore. Hawk found some boards long enough and wide enough to load the bikes on. After they brought the bikes from the hiding place, Hawk & Daisy loaded them up. Good luck was with them because the men left the keys inside the van. Clearly they weren't expecting to much trouble, or they would have taken the keys. Hawk jumped in and started the van up. He waited until Daisy was ready before pulling out. Hawk said they should find a hospital, or a doctor's office. He said it wouldn't hurt to stock up on some medical supplies. Hawk also wanted to check whether is thoughts on them being infected were right. He decided against saying anything to Daisy about this. Hawk didn't want to worry her needlessly right now. He knew she had a rough time after shooting that zombie. Daisy may have tried to put on a brave face, but Hawk heard and could see she had been crying. Hawk certainly didn't expect her to be Wonder Woman. Daisy was only human after all. She had all the same doubts and weaknesses everyone else had. Even Hawk had them, he just didn't let them show.

Daisy smiled as hawk said their haul was too great. Then he mentioned the van and she frowned. They would look like traders. But maybe they could help more. People always asked the traders for help. It just depended if the traders were good Samaritans or greedy assholes. She helped load the bikes and got into the van as hawk started it up. She listened about the medical supplies.

"I restocked where you found me." She said then saw something in Hawks eye. It was the same look that she remembered doctors having before they said they wanted to test something. "There is something you want to test isnt there, what is it?" She looked at him.

Hawk smiled when Daisy said she had already restocked where they had met. He said that with the van, they should get extra stuff anyway. Hawk slightly turned his head when Daisy said that there was something he wanted to test. " There's something I need to check for myself. " Hawk said as he drove on. It wasn't long before they found a hospital, but the place was crawling with walkers. It would have been insane to try and get inside. Hawk decided to move on. They continued on southwest until Hawk spotted an animal hospital. While this wouldn't give them to much in the way of useful supplies, it would allow Hawk the chance to test their blood. Hawk parked the van out behind the animal hospital. He climbed out taking a look around. The rear door was open and no sounds could be heard coming from inside. Hawk drew his pistol and slowly walked inside the building. He looked around for a moment before waving for Daisy to join him. Hawk moved carefully around inside. All the cages for the animals were open. It was obvious someone had let all the animals go. Hawk moved into a long hallway and found a door marked "Lab." This is just what Hawk needed. He opened the door only to find a female walker standing there. She reached out grabbing Hawk by his shoulders. Walkers were pretty weak, but they acted like wild animals. She was trying damn hard to bite Hawk, but he would have none of that. Hawk twisted her around and knocked her to the floor. He raised his pistol and fired one shot hitting the walker in the head.

Hawk sighed as he looked around. He gave Daisy a smile that everything was alright. Hawk then found a microscope. He asked Daisy to grab a couple of clean syringes while he got some slides. Hawk found a bottle of rubbing alcohol and some cotton balls. Once Daisy brought the syringes, Hawk took some of her blood before asking her to do the same for him.

She wasn't sure why, but the words for myself didn't exactly sit right with her. She looked at the hospital dread filling her up. "You cannot perform a true test whatever it is. You need electricity, that has been shut off a long time. The generators will be unreliable." She said softly looking at the hospital. She found it interesting that walkers hung out around hospitals, malls, and food markets. They were trying to do what they remembered in life. Maybe a part of them realized they themselves were sick adn went to the place that they remembered in a life long ago that would help. Hawk continued to drive.

Daisy went with him drawing her silencer and followed. She waited until she got the sign, watching outside. She walked in behind him and swallowed steeliing herself. Inside would be dead animals. Dead from starvation. She knew it. She walked with him and frowned. She was happy to see the open cages. She breathed a blessing to whoever did release the animals. She walked with him. She was about to shoot teh female walker in the head, but Hawk had everything in hand and followed him inside.

Daisy nodded and looked at him collecting slides. She frowned and watched him take blood. She felt like a grown adult watching another grown adult talk to her like a baby and tie her shoe laces. All nurses knew flobotamy. But she let it go and smiled as he asked her to take some of his blood. She isolated teh vein and brought it to the top by rubbing it with rubbing alcohol. She got teh blood quickly and precisely and smiled.

"And here I thought you were not going to let me have any fun." She said and put some bandaids she found over the cut so the blood would not attract walkers, if they had heightened smell. She put one on herself and sat down watching him and frowned.

"If only we had some petri dishes with a base. I found that those tests are really reliable." She said looking at him.

Hawk told Daisy she could have all the fun she wanted. He said this with a playful smile and gave her a wink. Hawk took the slides to a microscope which didn't need electricity. This was one of the older models which doctors would keep in case the power went out. Hawk used a small flashlight to shine some light on the slides while he looked at the them. He looked at his slide first, then he removed it and put in Daisy's. Both blood samples showed a massive infection. This infection was inactive, but there. Hawk figured that the chemical changes which happen when a person dies is causing the infection to activate. This in turn causes the body to reanimate. Hawk told Daisy to have a look for herself. While she looked, Hawk said that they were infected with what is bring the dead back to life. He explained his thoughts on how this infection worked. Hawk said that when some dies, the infection starts up and brings the dead to life. But, it's not life as humans know it. Walkers can't talk, they can't reason and they are only driven on by a strange need to feed. Hawk then asked Daisy what she thought? She did have more medical training then he had.

Daisy blushed a bit and looked away as Hawk gave her a wink. She rubbed her neck and bit her lip. She watched him work and was quiet. When he was done, she looked in and frowned. The muscles in her jaw jumping up and down as if she was gritting her teeth. She then sat back and then looked at him and nodded.

"It might be enzymes that keep it from turning us right now. Maybe since a walker bite can turn someone into a walker, the flood of the infection overthrows the enzyme. Maybe it is more like an active protein type of deal. But if a bite can flood it in the negative side, that means that maybe there is a chance that we can throw it back to a life saving side." SHe rubbed her chin and shrugged shaking her head. "If we had a lab that worked, we could test different theories on our blood. But seeing as how we have no where near the technology, I guess we have to make a pact with each other, if the other dies, we take a head shot." She said and then looked down feeling betrayed by her body. Feeling so dirty. How does one have such a gross virus living inside of them.

Hawk agreed to Daisy packed, but he added that everyone needs to be taken out in the head. He said that a quick kill is fine for a human, but a shot, or stab to the head was also needed. This would keep the body from returning and attacking. Hawk said something like this isn't natural. He believed it must have been created in a lab somewhere. A Government project gone wrong, or perhaps something more sinister. Hawk just couldn't be sure, nor could anyone at this point in time. He placed a hand onto Daisy shoulder and said they should move on. Hawk didn't feel like hanging around in this area with those Raiders still lurking about. He asked Daisy to grab more slides, more syringes and anything else she could find. Hawk grabbed the microscope and a few books which could come in handy. In learning about human medicine, doctors also learn about animals. Many illnesses can infect both humans and animals. Hawk believed that it was possible for a cure to be found. He knew everything had a weakness, even diseases. They could be stopped, but only after long studies. Hawk wasn't sure he & Daisy could cure this, but they would try. Deep down Hawk believed that a cure could only come from someone more skilled. Still he was willing to try. While they don't have the necessary equipment right now. They could gather it in time. This place would be a good place to start getting what they needed.

Hawk moved around gathered a few more items. While out front, he watched a group of walkers pass by. They took no notice of this building, or any other since there was no noise to attract them. Hawk joined Daisy and said it was time to leave. They loaded up the van and headed out again. Hawk said that they were less then a day from his home. If the road was clean ahead, the time would pass quickly. If they had to detour around blocked roads, it may take a bit longer. Hawk pulled the van out, but didn't return to the main street. He drove down another road which circled around the small town. This let them avoid the walkers which Hawk had spotted earlier. While driving, Hawk made small talk with Daisy. He asked about her parents, where she was from and whether she had someone special before the world fell apart?

She nodded and agreed. A half assed job would only come back and need true finishing. She thought. The only way to get so many people infected at once were one of two things. Water and air. It hit so suddenly it had to be one of those two. She said this to him and then looked at him and nodded. She grabbed a bag that was used for packing a lot of medical supplies, and found containers that would keep the slides safe and began to pack up and looked around for anything else that they might need. Since it was a vet, she found several vaccinations good for animals, but not something humans had to worry about. She collected everything and walked to the truck putting it in. Daisy had noticed the walkers but in a part of her mind, she just thought of them like passing shoppers in the street.

She walked to the van and got in and then listened to Hawk ask her questions. She smiled wondering why he hadn't asked before.

"I am from California. I worked in Los Angeles. And I had only seen a few actors come through. They went to a special hospital that I was trying to get a job at when the world fell to shit. My father, I never knew the man. I knew my mother, but after my brother died, she lost teh will. She slowly slipped away and died." She shrugged. "Being a nurse, and a good one, you don't have time for someone special. But ironically, even though I am the best nurse, I am...." She paused adn then looked out the window. "I have all the time in the world." She laughed and then looked at him and shrugged.

Hawk's ears had perked up when Daisy said she was from Los Angeles. That's where his sister had gone to become the next big thing. Hawk said that his sister Heather went to LA. She was looking to become a movie star and model. Hawk then said that he hadn't heard from her in months. They had lost touch when he went to New York. He continued on driving while they talked. He told Daisy that his life was a lot like hers. He didn't have time for a stead girlfriend, but he dated when time allowed. Hawk said how he had five other brothers, plus his sister. He explained that the family lived on a farm. He grew up there and learn how to track, hunt, fish and survive thanks to his grandfather. Hawk added that his grandfather passed a few years ago. He said his grandfather had been 98 years old, but was still very frisky. Hawk told how his grandfather liked dating younger girls. He said his grandfather's last girlfriend was 22 years old. Hawk joked that his grandfather was quite a stud for his age. The hours ticked by as Hawk & Daisy grew to know each other better. Just as the sun was starting to go down, Hawk pulled off a main road. He pointed towards a farm house sitting a mile or so down the road. " That's my home. " Hawk said with a mix of relief and concern in his voice. His journey home was over, but finding out what happened to his family was still head. Hawk slowly started driving down the road towards the farm house.

Daisy smiled and nodded. "Well, if your sister is anything like you, Hawk, I am sure that she has the zombies running from her." She smiled and looked at him. She then listened to Hawk talk about his family but couldn't help but laugh at the story of his grandfather.

"You know, men who do that, seem to lead longer and healthier lives. Age is just a number. It all depends on how you feel. I have seen several old men come through hospitals that have these tight young beautiful girls crawling into bed and holding them close. It is cute in an odd sort of way. Kinda like watching a cat nurse a fawn." She shrugged and smiled and looked up at teh house and looked at him.

"It is still standing, that is a good sign, isn't it?" SHe smiled adn then looked back at him. She was hoping that for Hawk's sake his family was still fine. She then thought. "So what happened to your grandfathers girlfriend after his death?" She was curious, she had always been curious. What happened to the beautiful girls when their "love" had died.

Hawk told Daisy that the girl was around. He couldn't be sure what happened to her since the outbreak. But, Hawk said the girl was living in town where she always lived. As they grew closer to the farmhouse, Hawk spotted walkers on the road ahead. They were moving towards the house, although not in a hurry. Hawk told Daisy to get ready for some action. About 10 walkers were scattered on the road and along the fences. Hawk picked up some speed and mowed down four walkers on the road. The van jerked as the walkers were ether run over, or were sent flying through the air. The others reached out for the passing van, but grabbed nothing but air. They started pursuing the van. Since walkers don't move very fast. Their pursuit was rather slow. Hawk pulled the van put to the house. He climbed out pulling his knife and tomahawk. Hawk moved to the rear of the van. He readied himself for a fight. Hawk looked at Daisy saying that this wasn't a fair fight. He grinned while saying those walkers didn't stand a chance. The walkers had been trimmed down. Two were crushed under the wheels of the van and two were laying along the roadside trying in vain to crawl their way towards the house. This left 6 for Hawk & Daisy to deal with. Hawk used his weapons like the warrior he was. He impaled one walker through the head with his knife while crushing another one's head. Suddenly and arrow came flying from out of nowhere. It struck a walker right in the forehead.

Daisy smiled and nodded. "That's nice." She smiled and looked at him. She then laughed adn shook her head and braced herself. She laughed as they run over walkers. She cheered as they went flying. She reached into the bag of weapons and got a long sword looking machete that she had been eyeballing. It had a shaft and a strap that went over her breast. She jumped out of the van and then laughed. "Not fair at all." She winked. She swiped decapitating a head and giving it a good kick with her booted shoe sending the head into another head. She looked up seeing the arrow and then quickly cut the head of a zombie top to the neck. She was spurted with blood and laughed softly.

Once the last walker fell, Hawk spun around facing the house. That arrow came from somewhere, but the house seemed void of life. There was an upstairs window which was open. However, no one was in sight. The back door slowly opened as Hawk reached out and pulled Daisy closer to him. If his family was dead, it was possible that someone else was using the house. And that someone could be very unfriendly. " Ta wa di? " A male's voice called out from the house. Hawk who was ready for anything slowly lowered his weapons. " E do da? " Hawk called back in his native tongue. The door opened wider. A man stepped out on to the back porch. He was an older version of Hawk, just with more grey hair. Hawk walked towards the porch as the man stepped down. They hugged each other while laughing. If Daisy wanted to know how Hawk would look in his late 50's. She could now see for herself. The two men hugged until Hawk pulled back. Hawk looked back at Daisy and asked for her to join them. " Papa........This is my friend Daisy. " Hawk said while his father looked Daisy over. She was a fine piece of woman. " Daisy this is my father.......Raymond Whitefeather. " Ray held out his hand to greet Daisy. " Welcome to our home Daisy......You can call me Ray. " Ray said while shooting Daisy a playful grin.

Daisy stepped beside hawk as he pulled her closer. She realized in an instant what was going through hawks head. She rubbed his back soothingly. She watched the door open and a language that was all but forgotten by its people was heard. In answer, daisy felt hawks chest rumble in reply with the same language and smiled seeing an older carbon copy of hawk walk out. She let the two reunite. She smiled and walked forward seeing Ray stick out his hand.

"It is a pleasure to meet you sir." She smiled blushing at his playful grin.

Jimmy the youngest brother soon appeared on the back porch. He joined the others down in the yard as more greetings were given. Hugs, hand shakes, laughter and introductions to Daisy. Jimmy gave Daisy the same playful smile, his was a little more lustful. It had been quite a while since Ray & Jimmy had seen a woman. And Daisy was the finest one they had seen in a long time. Ray invited everyone in for some coffee. After everyone had gone inside, they sat around the large kitchen table. Ray passed around the mugs filled with fresh coffee. He sat down as Hawk asked where everyone else was? Ray took a sip, then sighed. There was no easy way to hand out bad news. Ray decided to just lay everything out on the table. He told Hawk that everyone one else had died. For the next hour Ray explained what had happened while Hawk was away. Hawk found out that his other brothers were dead from fighting the walkers. They had gone to help friends & family who were being attacked. Ray added that this area was pretty safe. He did however say that the town was crawling with walkers and they do make their way out here. He said those walkers most likely came from town, or the nearby highway.

Hawk was deeply saddened at the lose of his family members. He had lost his mother a few years back. She died after a long battle with cancer. The conversation quickly turned to Heather. She was the only family member other then Hawk who had been away from home. Hawk found out that his sister Heather had called home after the outbreak started and before the cell towers stopped working. Ray said she was making her way home. Ray showed Daisy a picture of Heather who was a very hot looking girl in her own right. Ray said the last place Heather said she was in was a small town called Helendale, California. He said that Heather was stranded there with car trouble. She was going to try and fix it while avoiding the walkers. Ray said the cellphones stopped working after that. He hadn't heard from Heather in weeks. Hawk decided that he would go looking for Heather and bring her home. He planned on leaving the following day. Jimmy wanted to go with Hawk, but he was told to stay behind. The farm need looking after and protected.

While everyone was catching up and getting to know Daisy. Ray couldn't help himself from looking Daisy over. He found himself very attracted to her.She was quite a beautiful young woman. It had been a long time since he allowed himself the pleasure of being with a woman. Ray certainly wouldn't mind being with Daisy. Images of what he could do with her were already passing through Ray's mind. Ray said he had dinner to make. It would be special since Hawk was home and they had a guest. Ray told his boys to remove those corpses from the yard & the road. He also wanted Jimmy to show Hawk where they had been putting all the dead bodies since the outbreak started. Jimmy got up from the chair and slapped Hawk on the shoulder. " Come on Bro. " Hawk rose and followed behind his younger brother. They went outside leaving Daisy & Ray alone. Ray smiled at Daisy while he asked if she and Hawk were just friends, or something more?

Daisy had seen the way that Ray looked her over. She kept her eyes down into her coffee mug she had been passed when she sat down at the table. She felt very out of place as Ray delivered the bad news to Hawk. She felt like she was Marilyn Monroe the way jimmy and day both watched her. She shifted again and looked at the picture of Heather. There was a girl, tough as nails and knew how to get what she wanted. The eyes, even through the photograph, made daisy feel she would work hard for this woman if she asked. She retold her tale that she had told hawk. Soon everyone was up and moving leaving her.

Soon day appeared at the doorway. "Um, I am not sure. At the moment I guess we are friends." Even before the fallout, daisy had always been awkward at relationships. Maybe that was why, as daisy looked back on it, she was still a virgin.

Ray who was sitting at the table, slowly rose up. He asked Daisy if she would like to help make dinner for tonight? He knew Hawk & Jimmy would be a while carting those dead away. Ray & Daisy would be alone for sometime before they returned. He asked Daisy to shuck some corn after handing her a bag filled with corn on the cob. He said she could do that at the sink. Ray couldn't deny that he wanted Daisy. His loins were burning for her. Ray had no idea she was a virgin, but one can't tell by looking. He went about starting dinner for that night. They were going to have fried chicken & corn on the cob tonight. The farm was still a working one with animals which Ray & Jimmy kept safe from the walkers.

Jimmy & Hawk got wheel barrels from the barn. They began their job of clearing away the dead bodies. The boys would be taking the dead bodies well away from the house. Hawk killed the last ones which were still trying to crawl towards the house. The brothers lifted all the bodies onto the two wheel barrels then started a long and slow walk towards the woods. Jimmy said how they were using the old mine shaft about a mile, or so away from the house. He said that's where they'd dump the bodies before returning to the house. Inside the house, Ray & Daisy were still working on dinner. Ray got the chicken cut up, coated and in the frying pan. He turned towards Daisy looking at how pretty she was. Ray moved in behind her. He needed her, he need her badly. Ray wrapped his arms around Daisy body. His left hand started groping at her left breast while his right hand went straight between her legs. Ray whispered that it had been so long since he had last been with a woman. He told Daisy how much he needed her right now.

Daisy nodded and stood up and walked with him. She took the bag she was given. Moving to the sink she began to shuck corn. Her head was down lost in her own little world. She had the bag nearly done when she felt Ray walk up behind her. She gasped jerking back tighter against him as he gripped her breast and her hand went to between her legs. She blushed harder feeling Rays breath against her ear. He knew how to get a woman's motor running, but the closest human physical contact was when hawk pulled her close. That felt good too.

"Please Ray, don't." She whispered. Her heart was racing as she gripped the one cob tightly in her fingers. "Don't do this." She pleaded softly.
