An unfortunate end...

I’m afraid that quite unforeseeable circumstances have forced me to write this apology to all of my current role-play partners. I should probably stat by explaining what exactly has happened.

I live on a university campus where I work as a lab technician, renting my apartment from the university itself. That means that I am subject to all of the same rules and restrictions as the students who live in halls. Now I don’t know why this has come about but the university has started to ban certain domains and applications from working on their connections, they actually sent out an email to all employees and students to explain this:

Through the on-going program of anonymous internet usage monitoring we have been able to deduce the cause of some of the problems that students living in on-campus accommodation have been experiencing in the evenings during peaks hours. Most of the problems seem to be caused by programs that have excessively heavy internet usage which hampers the ability of other students who are trying to perform online tests or study. We have also noticed that many students were using sites that allowed them to stream live television without a television license.

No action will be taken against these individuals for any offences up to now, but we feel the need to remind our students that this is illegal and will not be at all tolerated. As of when this email was sent we will now be informing the relevant authorities of any such usage. Please allow me to use this opportunity to remind you that the university will not tolerate any form of illegal activity on campus, this includes (but is not limited to) underage drinking, substance abuse and as I have mentioned – seeking to circumvent TV license laws.

For your convenience I have listed below a few of the key categories of sites and programmes that will no longer be allowed internet access on the university’s campus network – both the wireless system in place and the cable based internet available in the halls of residence:

>Certain online games such as the World of Warcraft – which have been clogging up the bandwidth
>Several sites that were being used for illegal sports & TV streaming – for obvious reasons
>Pornography sites – which again take up excessive bandwidth and are not deemed appropriate

Please note that this list is subject to expansion and changes of which we shall inform you of as they come, we hope this this helps to alleviate the problems that students have been having with their connections.

And yes, you guessed it – Bluemoon seems to have fallen into that last category and that means that it is now unfortunately banned. I am no longer able to access to site from home or work and am actually having to write this on my phone.Sadly this means that I will of course no longer be able to roleplay here unless this ban is lifted – which given the uproar that has followed what is essentially censorship of a mostly adult population may actually be a possibility.

I apologize to any and all of my current roleplay partners and hope this this does not sour the time that I have enjoyed roleplaying with you all. I do hope that this ridiculous notion is revoked before long and that I might be able to return to bluemoon, but in the meantime,

My warmest regards to all of you here, and once again my apologies for this abrupt end,

Irlandais – XX.
