Gareth stepped off the elevator and made his way to his cubicle, occasionally nodding a greeting to his coworkers – the ones that acknowledged him anyway. He wasn’t exactly Mr. Popular. It wasn’t a fact that bothered him though. Gareth had always been a loner. There was an air about him that seemed to push people away. It made them nervous and even a little distrustful of him. He was a quiet person, never bothering to ‘chitchat’ or ‘hang out’ with the others. The only times he’d emerge from his cubicle was to get himself a cup of coffee or grab a quiet smoke.

He never took an active interest in anybody. Well… that was until now.

Today though, he did take an interest. He watched her every move in fact. She was attractive, very much so and confident, so sure of herself. He noted the easy manner in which she spoke to the others and he smiled to himself.

She had been clever too. Just a little careless… and to her misfortune, he had found the discrepancy. She’d been stealing… and that meant she’d just handed herself to him. She just didn’t know it yet.

Jennifer Lee was sitting at her desk continuing her work as usual but there was a secret she held very close to her and that was beyond her outward appearance of being one of the most proficient workers for the company was that she had been stealing. For many months after graduating early at the ripe age of 20 she had to quickly pay off all those loans she had to take and so the easiest way was to slip small amounts of cash into her account from the company.

She did it carefully and only in small amounts thinking that not many people would look through old records and with the small amounts most likely no one would see the discrepancies she was creating. Though unbeknowst to her she had already been found out and her life was in for a world of surprise.

Lee... that was her name... something Lee. He didn't know much else about her really. Except that she was considered a proficient worker for the most part. Everyone expected her to rise up the ranks steadily.

That brought a smile to Gareth's face. Rise? Oh no... it was something quite the opposite that he had in mind.

He didn't really give a damn about the stealing, or the company for that matter. He did his time, it was just the means to an end. And the work was hardly challenging. After all, he was something of a genius when it came to numbers. That was how he'd found her out. The numbers never lied to him. He had spent the better part of a week ferreting out all the little details and evidence... And now he had it.

He couldn't help watching her. He couldn't possibly know why she did it, nor did it matter. His smile turned more predatory. And his eyes narrowed... all that mattered was what he would do with the knowledge. More importantly, what would she do, to keep it a secret.

His eyes bore into her back. As his thoughts wandered to the darker recesses of his mind.

Jennifer stood up carrying a bunch of papers with her and moved towards the copying room. Standing up she adjusted her skirt and then closed the door as she began to go about her day as usual.

The copy machine was fairly loud which is why she shut the door and she jus tliked the room because it was secluded and had some very large nice windows she could just stare out of while her copies were being made.

Gareth had initially thought of waiting to catch her after work. Maybe corner her in the parking lot... but this was too good an opportunity. He hadn't missed the way she'd wiggled her butt while adjusting her skirt. She looked good, no doubt about it, and she obviously liked to show off a little too from the looks of it. Well, he'll have her showing off for him in no time.

He'd put together a little statement of the cash movements she'd tried so well to hide, and now had a print out of the same so she'd know he wasn't kidding around. His pulse quickened in anticipation as he approached the copy room.

He didn't bother to knock as he entered and shut the door behind him. It wasn't all that big a room and he wasn't exactly a small man. Standing just shy of 6 ft, he was a good head taller than her and fairly well-built too. A slightly long and unruly head of hair crowned a face that wasn't pleasant at the best of times, but was now made worse by the fact that his eyes seemed entirely devoid of humor.

She was staring out the window, when he walked in. Now she turned to look at him. And he took his time, deliberately looking her over from head to foot.

Then with a smirk he said, "I see you are already using the machine... here be a good girl and get me a couple copies of this as well. Oh, and you might want to read that very carefully, while you are at it."

It was the evidence he had gathered against her. He stared at her a little longer and, once he was sure she realized what she held, he walked out of the room. He wanted her to think about it, knowing she'd been caught, but not what he intended to do about it. Maybe she'd be stupid enough to make him an offer.
