Anywhere that has a road to walk on.
A plain Schooner was trying to out sail a red and black Brigantine, a black flag with the average skull and crossbones fluttered with the wind as that same wind pushes against the vessel's sails. It was closing in on the poor ship, being outsize from the opposing Brig as the panels are lifted up. Revealing a line up of cannons, prep to fire as the pirates manning them lit their fuse and a barrage of cannonballs are send flying into the Schooner's hull. Getting interior damages as metal destructive balls break into it panelings of it hull, splinters flying out as those unfortunate are battered by them. Several dying due to how much was pelted onto them, cutting and digger into their flesh from the size of those pieces of wood.

"Grab a rope men, PREPARE TO BROAD!" The Brig's captain shouted, getting his men too cheer with raised cutlasses. Then rush to the right side of the main deck, grabbing a rope and swing to the crippled Schooner, landing into a defensive attempt from it own crew. The last one to broad was a the captain himself, who landed with a great "thud" as he land on his feet. The man look to be at least twenty-eight, wearing a big crimson coat with a matching color hat with a feather stuck onto it. The man thrust his drawn cutlass into a charging man, push it up some before pulling out. Only to parry another from his right, who was killed with a drawn out pistol. Which the man quickly holster as it is now empty, then walked toward the helm. Where the ship's captain been fending off some of his men, only getting a few minor cuts before they backed off. The man was confuse for a moment till he notice their captain ready to fight him. Which soon began as the pirate's Captain fought the other, while the few ran down to fight those on the main deck. Their captain parry one strike after another till he make the killing blow, stabbing his sword straight into the other captain's chest. Likely piercing through his lung or maybe his heart, but either one is a ticket to death and too Davy Jones' Locker.

Once the Schooner's crew saw that their captain had fallen, they instantly surrendered. "A bunch of cowards, the moment they use their captain. They all drop their swords and plead for mercy, aye Tristan?" Exclaim a man that stood next too his captain, who is obviously Tristan, while the two survey the crew loading up crates and chests onto their Brig. Which is known to be call the Scarlet Maiden, who had the kill count of nearly 20 ships it had sink. Tristan nod before heading down the step, telling the man that is his First Mate to watch the crew. But stopped when started hearing something, which cause him to investigate as he close in on the Captain's Quarters. Curious of what it was that he is hearing as he entered, surveying the area as he try to pinpoint where it is.

It seemed to happen all of a sudden, they were attacked by another ship and the captain of the ship was quick to hide away a little girl. He wasn't an old man yet, so I wasn't too strange that he had a daughter, though it was strange that she was brought out into these dangerous waters. He was a red haired man with brown eyes and tanned skin, and his little girl seemed to have most of his traits. Her eyes were defiant even at that young age, though the green in them seemed to be the only thing that she got from her mother. She wore a raggedy little dress that went down to her ankles, no shoes covering her small and pale feet. Her hair was wavy, not curly like her father's was, but it was still red like his.

She was placed inside a closet, left blinking in confusion as her father stroked her hair back, just watching as he stepped from the closet. "Stay quiet my dear, everything will be okay." He looked at her then kissed her cheek before stepping back from the closet and closing the door. The poor girl didn't know what to think about all of this, didn't want to be left in the dark but she had no choice. And so, of course, she was left there by her father while the ship as attacked. She heard the clash of metal against metal as they fought with one another, both sides fighting for their own reason. The girl stayed quiet like her father told her to, just listening at the grown-ups outside fought with one another.

The closet was mostly empty except for a few things that were needed to clean the ship. There was a strange smell in the room, but all she could do was ignore it was she listened to a man outside say something. He said softly about her father. She didn't really know what happened, but the fact that he said something about the man and that place was starting to scare her, it wasn't long before the girl was sniffling and crying. Tears ran down her cheeks as she sat down on the floor of the closet, rubbing at her eyes and wondering what was going on, hoping that her father wasn't gone. There was nothing she could do. She was too short to reach the doorknob and couldn't open the door, she couldn't get out of this dark place and back onto the deck that the sun shone down on and that her father was probably on. The poor girl didn't know of course, and it might have been best if she didn't.

Tristan stop and gaze at the closet within the room, hearing what appear to be crying. He crept over to it and open the doors, finding a little girl in a raggedy dress and red hair. The hair was what drawn his attention, that and her green eyes. Almost like his own, though his is a bit lighter. Tristan always have a soft spot for kids, likely because he lost the chance to be a father. Since his wife had died a few years ago during a raid on the town they live in, that was near the coast and a prime target for pirates. Ironic he became one after killing the captain of the Brig that now his own, which was surprising the crew agreed as he declare himself as the Maiden's new captain. So, the real question is what to do with this girl. Tristan thought as he carefully make the attempt to pick her up, speaking kind encouraging words to her. "Don't be afraid, I won't hurt you" Tristan spoke kindly as he started picking her up into his arms, doing it slowly so not to be too hasty in doing so.

The little girl sniffled softly as she looked up at the man, blinking her green, teary eyes. Now that she could see again, the girl was happy and didn't feel like crying. Still though... She lifted her hands up as he picked her up, liking this man more than the darkness that she was in. "Papa," she said softly, looking at his hat more than she did the actual man. It looked like a nice hat really, and like her father's. Her father was the captain of the ship after all, and it was the silver feather that stuck out of his hat that the little girl liked. "My daddy's hat." She spoke softly, sniffling and wiping at her eyes as she looked at the green eyed man. She was glad that she was out of the dark closet at least, and the man seemed too nice for her to be scared of. Her eyelids were getting heavy, the girl was tired after the attack on the ship and after she cried for so long.

Tristan look down at the girl with a smile as he gently rocks her in his arms, while internally, he is sadden at her words. Especially when it appear to be that this girl's father was the ship's captain, who is now laying dead above theirs heads. He look back at the girl in his arms, smiling down at her as he spoke, "my name is Tristan, what yours?" He asked, curious of what it is. While also wondering on how he going to break the news about her father, along with how he going to deal with this little girl. Should he take her along and drop her off in someone else's hands, or take her as his own child. Tristan Ponder this as he listen to the girl speak out her name while he watch her slowly drift into slumber.

"Papa calls me Anna," she said softly. The girl yawned softly and rubbed at her eyes with a closed fist before looking at the man once again, leaning against him now that she was close to the point of passing out. "I'm Annabel," she said softly, her voice barely louder than a whisper. Her little hands clutched at his shirt the way she always did when her father used to carry her, her eyelids feeling heavier than they ever were. She opened her eyes though and looked around, trying her best to spot a familiar face but he was the only person in the room with her, the others up on deck with his crew. "D-Do you know where daddy is?" She asked. Her eyes closed once again and her head fell on his chest as if she were going to sleep. It was obvious that she was trying not to though, trying to keep herself awake for as long as she could.
