Verric's breathing came in deep gasps as he moved through the knee high water of the bog blood and gore smeared over his armor as he adjusted the burden on his shoulder. He had fought hard to save his unconscious companion his princess from the horde of enemy soldiers that had swarmed their position. The army had been out flanked by the enemy it's cavalry riding down on their left flank where they had place only light infantry to protect their bowmen. It had all fallen apart from their he had been close by when Princess Ashlinde had been knocked from her horse by a bear of a man wielding a hammer that had crashed against her shield. Her horse reared and she had lost her grip which had placed her in her current state. Now they were here in this bog with the filthy water filling his lower armor, "Thankfully the armor is what makes her heavy." he muttered as he came up out of the water onto some dry land where a hallowed out tree stood large enough for two or three people to stand inside of. He set her down gently before examining the tree and making sure no dangerous creatures lurked within before bringing the princess in.

He pulled off his armor with a pained grunt as he remembered the arrow that had struck his arm luckily it hadn't done enough damage for him to lose the use of the arm but still hurt. He gathered some wood and started a fire he saved his own injuries for last tending to the princess first. He had to admire her body as any male would but he kept his priorities and tended to her injuries, "I'm just a Knight and here I am acting like a damn hero." he muttered. He ran a hand through his dirty blond hair and turned his grey eyes toward the knife in the flames. He removed the remains of the arrow in his arm before tending to it he grunted in pain as he cauterized the injury in his arm. "That'll wake you up in the morning." he growled through clenched teeth as he made a bandage from some supplied in a pouch on his belt.

"Now I need to plan what to do next." he said as he began to go through what else he had packed in his pouches. He didn't have much some field rations odds and ends and that was all nothing of much use, "Oh what will the bards say about this." he chuckled as he watched the sun sink under the fog of the swamp.

Her entire world had been taken by storm. Ashlinde was a twenty-four year-old German Princess of the Heaven's Gate Kingdom; A true paradise on earth. Filled with resources, luxuries, not to mention how prosperous it and her people were. Businesses were in full bloom, labours, duties and chores were fairly divided and shared the only worry people had was what to have for dinner tonight; This, or that?
It was much so the same for Lady Ashlinde.

Ashe was to become the Queen of this wonderful haven. It wasn't to be for a few months maybe more but it was approaching. The current King and queen loved their beautiful daughter and were even willing to allow her to choose her future king for herself. Sadly, that became the least of her worries and very quickly. Without warning, before anyone knew, there was chaos in the streets. Armoured soldiers just wreaking havoc all over. before she knew it, Ashlinde was ordered by her father to equip herself with her Armour and her Lance. Shortly after, she was being escorted out of the land to escape for her life. Of course, like all similar cases in fairy tales, she reacted no differently to her father's orders to leave him and her mother behind.

The Princess slowly opened her eyes but only enough to see the dull sad sky. Her body was in pain. Battle wasn't exactly something she was new to but considering how she was knocked off a horse by a massive boulder of a man, that was the least of her grief.

All of this seemed like a horrid nightmare that would end some time soon. but anything that feels like a nightmare...usually is reality and in a way, vice versa.

She heard a fire around her, she could sense no immediate danger and allowed herself to relax. She slowly began singing a German children's song, much how like every country had it's cute melody but tragic meaning to their children songs. It was soft, but loud enough for him to know she was alive and well more or less.

He heard her singing as he sat near the fire and muttered along with her song as he was sharpening his knife he was relieved to hear her voice as it told him she was alive. Sheathing the knife he turned from the fire, Verric was a handsome man though rugged and clearly a few years older than the princess. Their was a scar on his cheek from his child hood, he tore some of the jerky that was with his rations and grabbed the water skin as he knelt next to her. "We need to get moving soon Princess we are far behind enemy lines and no doubt they will be searching for us." he said as he gently helped her sit up. "Drink and eat." he said offering her the water skin and strips of jerky as howling broke out in the distance from his youth he could tell that the howl was a wolfs and not a hound which did not settle his nerves by much. The bog was shrouded in mist that made it hard to see more than five feet in front of you which would hinder their progress as they would have to go slow to avoid it's dangers.

He began pulling on bits of his armor uninterested in anything that would weigh him down he belted on his sword and knife as well. "Are you strong enough to move your majesty?" he asked her as he added some twigs to the small fire.

Ashlinde heard a voice that sang along with her. it was hushed but audiable. It helped her relax just a bit more. Not too long after she was lifted to sit up. He asked her if she could move but...

"What now..." She began quietly. "What do we do...where do we go..." These were all the questions that were flooding her thoughts, she had never felt more lost in her life.

(Neither have I tbh xD what exactly are we doing? what's the plot xD you gave me three mixed plots and instead of letting me know your choice you just hopped right into it xD Mind you I probably should've said something earlier ><)

((Yeah I see what you mean. I wanted to go with the escape from prison and meet up with an underground but I went with a Knight saving her during a battle and protecting her as they make their way back to their lines. I started us after the battle and he rescued her now they're making their way through a bog.))

"We keep moving, we watch each others back and we stay alive. "We have to get back to our lines the longer we stay the harder it will be." Verric said speaking to her calmly and firmly as though he had planned out their whole journey already. "Can you stand and walk?" he asked as he drew closer to check the injuries he had treated, "We're also short on food so that's another reason to get back to our people." he continued as he gathered up the bits of her armor he had removed and regretted not bringing a pack with him. "I believe I answered all your questions." he more stated than asked as he looked into her eyes unflinching.

(Blegh this is terrible I can hardly write more then two lines u.u I think we need to return to the drawing board)
