Citizen Polling: Smut vs Plot

A curiosity on my part as I tend to enjoy both in equal measure, I'm wondering which side (if either) of this site is dominant: Smut-based role players, or plot-based role players, and if it is to a minor or major degree. Feel free to give your reasons below, or keep your vote anonymous. All this does is satiate my curiosity anyway.

My two cents:

I came here for a more mature roleplaying setting than a site like Gaia, for example. But by mature I don't mean sex. I want to have vivid stories with adult characters who (usually) end up having some sort of intercourse. I like to think 75% plot, and 25% smut. Because if I just wanted to get off I'd go watch porn. I really just want to challenge my literal skills, because if I don't give myself a challenge I will never get better. I think stories with too much smut tend to be boring, because really, how many times can you RP sex before it all kind of feels the same? Especially when you're doing it again, and again, and again.

Ya'know? Or am I crazy? Because that is totally possible.

I don't think you're crazy. I think you have completely valid points. Most of my smut-based role plays are short lived one-offs while the plot-based ones tend to last.

Then again I am a guy with a mask for an avatar, so, your mileage may vary on the "not crazy" thing.

Hahah, well thanks then.

That's another thing. If I am going to commit myself to writing with someone, I don't want to write three pages and have it end there. I want to write a story, something that could, with the proper editing, become something if I wanted to. I'm going to spend the time to create a character (because I'm like that. It takes me over an hour to create a character for any RPG like Dragon Age or Elder Scrolls) then I want to use this character for a while.

I like a good mix of both and it has to make sense.

When I roleplay, its for a little escapism and some light fun and entertainment. I know some people who roleplay are very serious about their writing and their plots. I, however, find my brain to be too overtaxed from day to day life to do that. I see a multiparagraph post and think "Fuuuuuck...so much to do. I'll respond to it later." which either never happens or I squeeze out something that pales in comparison. For me, the purpose of roleplaying is not to challenge myself but to relax and relieve myself. I challenge myself enough already in my real life.

But I do enjoy plot in my roleplay and playing out some unique fantasies I and others have had. So I like a nice mixture between the two. I'm in the middle.
