With a voluntary retirement from army Mark easily got the security supervision position in the biggest mall of the town, a healthy pension plus a salary, a house, loving wife and two kids. He was one of those lucky guys, everything which one counts for happiness, he had it but yet something was missing. It was one of those busiest days at the mall, too many people, then inventory and god knows what all.

Mark was just glad that his shift was over and it was time to go home, finally. He packed his bag was about to leave when he got a call from the security saying that they caught few high school kids shoplifting. “Not again…” He cursed, anyone would. A single shoplifting case required so much of aftermath, preparing reports, root cause analysis, reporting to cops if required. He felt like shooting his brains out, but it had to be done.

He kept his bag back on the table and walked out from his cabin to the main entrance where the security had caught the kids. Mark was a big man, tall 6”2 and dark, some might say tan, board shoulders, short hairs and a gentle smile. Although he looked scary, then every military person does. He walked to incident spot and saw a bunch of kids standing there against the wall. “What’s wrong?” He asked one of the security guard.
And suddenly he caught a glimpse of a young girl, someone familiar. It took him a while to realize that she was his friend’s daughter.
