Eve Wells walked through the dark cold alley in the middle of the night. It was late and the moon was large, almost enchanting one might say. Her wavy auburn red hair flowed gently behind her with the wind, bouncing up and down slightly with every step she took. She swiped her side bangs out of her eyes, adjusting her bag so it wouldn't fall off her shoulder any time soon. She was a tall 23 year old with model-like features. She had a strong jawline and large, sharp eyes that pierce those they gaze at. Her skin was tanned just the right color, not too dark, not too light. One might say she has the most ideal body.

The alley was one Eve was very familiar with. It is one of the many complex alleys that make up what's known as the Shire. The Shire is nothing more than the name of one small area of the city of Elsing. It's what is known as the dark spot in the city, an area where the poor thrive.

Eve had been in the Shire for a funeral. Her mother had recently passed away, leaving Eve and her sister a castle-like mansion, a very large area of land, enough money to last generations to come, and multiple companies. Eve never understood why her mother wanted to have a funeral in the Shire, but all the woman would say was that she wanted to be buried where she grew up.

Thinking back on the events of that day, Eve quickened her pace in the alley. A shiver was sent down her spine, and she felt as if she was being followed. Surely it was nothing, and if need be, she had enough self defense lessons to look after herself.

Luckily for her, the cold feeling was nothing, as she stepped out of the alley, out of the Shire, and onto the streets of the bustling Elsing metropolis. She quickly called a taxi, which then drove her to the other side of Elsing, out of the metropolis, and into the rich residential area. She paid the driver twice the amount he asked for before stepping out and unlocking the front door of her incredibly large mansion. The exterior was old, but with careful observation, it's as new as new can be. It was simply designed to look old, nothing more. On the inside, however, it's completely modern with marble floors, polished stairs, full heating and lighting, as well as multiple chandeliers hung up high.

Eve locked the door behind her and took off her black trench coat. She called for her maid, Ann, who took her coat and hurried away to do her chores. Eve walked up the polished marble stairs, down the hall, and into her room at the very end of it. Her room was just as luxurious as the rest of the house, though it could hardly be called a room. It was more of a suite, actually. Upon entering the door, one would see a large room with a red fainting couch in the center, facing a flat screen TV by the wall left of the entrance door. The couch was peculiar and caught Eve's eyes the moment she saw it. It seemed almost perfect. The floor was made of polished wood, and had a luxurious glint to it. Behind the couch on the other side of the room were two large windows, reaching from the floor to the ceiling. Unfortunately, it is not possible to open them. The sides of the room was lined with book shelves, mostly filled with books Eve never looked at. Yet the room had a dim lighting to it, making feel almost romantic.

The right side wall from the suite entrance had a door that led to the bedroom. The bedroom, unlike the room before, had beige walls instead of crimson. In the center of the wall opposite the bedroom entrance was a grand king sized canopy bed with silver white drapes. To the left of the bed are two large windows, one on each side of a glass door leading out to a balcony that looks over the mansion garden. To the right of the bed is a door leading to the closet, which has a door that leads to the bathroom. Both very large, both very fancy.

Eve took off her shoes and fell onto her bed, tired of all the standing and false weeping of the day. Sure, her mother's gone, but she was never exactly a good mother to begin with. With that, Eve closed her eyes and went to sleep.

Chapter 1: Ada (unfinished)

High school was never a fun place to be. Everywhere you go, people stare with judgmental looks. Everywhere you go, you are always classified in one of the many stereotypical high school groups. Either you're a jock, prep, hipster, geek, nerd, townie, creeper, average, or loner. Of course, there are always the many subdivisions of those groupings. For example, sneaker-heads and card-players. So within these high school groups, it is often rare to find a person who doesn't belong in any of these groups. It's always one or another.

Ada Smith. An average high school girl, with average grades, average skills, and average looks. Perhaps she is simply extraordinarily ordinary. Unfortunately, her family isn't quite so ordinary...

---------------------------

"Ada!" *knock knock knock* "Ada, wake up! It's time!"

The ruffling sound of blankets overturned filled the room, almost muffling out the sound of the voice calling from behind the door.

"Ada!"

The blankets ruffled again before they were violently flipped off the bed. The brunette teen on the bed laid very still until the knocks came again.

"Okay! I get it! Time to get up!" she shouted, sitting up straight and sighed. Oh how she hated this family. Every morning was loud, obnoxious, and always something Ada wanted to avoid. Quickly getting out of bed, she immediately got dressed for school. She made sure her school uniform was on correctly; the white dress shirt was tucked into her black plaid skirt; her black tie was tied correctly around her neck and tucked under her shirt collar, and she wore her normal white knee socks with black dress shoes. She ran her fingers through her side bangs and untied her hair, leaving it to fall down to her waist in short, soft waves. Satisfied with her look, Ada left her room in a hurry and rushed down the stairs for breakfast.

"Eyeballs and cats, sweety?" a plump woman called from the kitchen counter. She wore a black dress with a pointed Halloween witch hat with a white apron and weird multicolored striped knee socks.

"No thanks. Just toast. I'll eat it on my way."

Ada grabbed her bag and gulped down a glass of warm strawberry milk before she was handed her toast. Taking a bite, she ran out the front door with the toast in one hand, and her bag in the other.

The bus ride to the school wasn't so bad. A bit bumpy. A bit rowdy. Overall, not too bad. Getting off, she ignored most of the students that passed by. Just like every other morning, she stopped after taking a few steps away from the bus to look at the school building as a whole before entering the front entrance. As usual, her friend Bonnie taps her right shoulder and says "hi", exactly 30 seconds after she walks through the front door. As usual, the jocks are lined up by the lockers lining the halls laughing at everyone they're not friends with. Ada, as usual, just walks by.

The day is almost always the same. Go to class, take some notes, leave the class, go to the next, repeat until the end of school. Then, go home. Today, however, is a different story. It is Ada's first field trip in high school since she transferred in as a sophomore. Its destination is a rather infamous site where hundreds of witch trials were held, and where hundreds of witches were burned. Unfortunately, Ada's family is rather big on witchcraft and as a result, she is persuaded, or rather forced, to go on that field trip despite her displeasure and disinterest in the topic.
