Homeless Girl gets a new life (Ryanmo97 x jadeshaw88)

"Seriously?" Her eyes widened as she followed him back downstairs. She thought about all the food she had just eaten when he mentioned popcorn. She would have thought that her stomach might revolt. Instead it let out another loud growl. Yeah. She could eat again. That was the thing about starving. There was always room for one more course. She took a seat in one of the recliners and almost sighed in pure bliss. Oh yes, she could most definitely get used to this.

Once Ryan had moved off to make the popcorn and drinks, she picked up the remote and started flicking through Netflix. So many choices. She eventually decided on Cabin In The Woods. She had heard great things when she squatted by the movie theater in the city. So it wasn't exactly action, so what. She had grown up on reruns of Buffy and Angel and Whedon was the man.

Ryan walked into the room with the popcorn and the drinks. He turned the lights down and took a seat in the chair next to Ellie. He handed her the popcorn and a Coke. "So what are we watching?" he asked. When she replied, "Cabin in the Woods." He got visibly nervous, "Oh really... OK..." Ryan hated horror movies. He had a very vivid imagination. After watching stuff like that he though that someone or something would break into the house and kill him. But, he said she could pick the movie so he would watch it and try to keep his imagination under control.

Ellie had been watching him when she told him the movie and she laughed at his reaction. "Chill. I can almost guarantee that this will be more sarcastic comedy than scary. That's how Whedon rolls." She told him as she started eating the popcorn. God...she hadn't known how much she missed fresh popcorn until just now. "I mean...there might be scary undertones but nothing serious."

"OK..." said Ryan, as he watched the movie. It did have its scary parts but it wasn't that bad. When it was over he looked over at Ellie, "That was OK..." Then Ryan looked at his watch... "Well, I guess we better be heading to bed. Got to enroll you in school. Take you shopping for your clothes and your school uniform and get stuff for your room..." Ryan got up and offered his hand to Taylor to help her up out of her chair.

Ellie had eaten most of the popcorn but she hadn't had that much of the coke. She was lucky to get water on the streets and when she did get soda, it was generally flat and warm not cold and bubbly. The first couple of sips had been great, almost giggle worthy, but after that she had lost interest in the burning and tingling sensation.

When Ryan mentioned a uniform and offered her his hand, she raised an eyebrow. She didn't recall him mentioning a uniform before. Well that was it then. He wanted to play stepfather to the innocent little school girl. Oh well, she wouldn't mention it. He would just try to tell her that she was wrong again. Whatevs. Instead she took his hand, since he seemed to want to the contact, and let him pull her up. "Alright. Um...Goodnight, I guess?" So awkward. She was still half expecting him to pounce on her. She had been jumpy every time he moved during the movie too.

He took her upstairs to her room and said, "Goodnight..." then he walked into his room and went to bed.

The next day, Ryan and Ellie went to get her enrolled at the private school nearby. They got the list of what she would need for school including her uniform. It consisted of a navy blue blazer, white blouse, sky blue tie; a blue, black and white plaid pleated skirt, maroon Knee socks, and black Mary Janes with a 2" heel. They went to the school store and got her 6 complete uniforms. Then they went shopping to get Ellie regular clothes. He told her to get whatever she wanted. It was the same when they went to Bed, Bath, and Beyond to get stuff for her bedroom.

Ellie hadn't been entirely sure what her style would be since she had only had grungy thrift store hand me downs. It turned out that she actually liked that look as opposed to the overly goth look, the preppy snob look, the butch jock look or any of the other common teenage looks that were out there. It was expensive grunge but grunge all the same.

At Bed Bath and Beyond, she went with a red comforter with pretty black lacework designs on it, pillows to match along with a red body pillow and maroon 700 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets. She liked it because of the creepy vampire mansion feeling she got from it, not for any other reason but that. After that, she got random decorations that she thought might look nice...most of which would cause a terrible color clash. She hoped that Ryan didn't mind. She just wasn't sure how she wanted to decorate.

Ryan didn't give Ellie any input one way or another. He wanted her to be comfortable in her new life. And so they settled into there new lives together. Over the six months they spent together they had become a nice little family. When Ryan signed her up for school he learned that today was her birthday. He pulled up to the school to pick her up. He smiled when he thought of the birthday present he had for her at home. He sat in the car and waited for her to come out.
