Rose looked out her window, done at her kingdom as the smoke raised into the air. She could hear the screams from her people and it only made her angry. She was waiting for the knight who was going to take her and protect her until this war was over. She would rather stay but her father told her no. He told her of the offer that was made to him. The enemy king want Rose as his bride but not out of love but of her youth. She had just turn 21 and the other king needed someone young to soil his seeds in. He had been looking all over the world to fine someone to bare him a son and after claiming a few brides, he was left with daughters. Rose knew the only way her father could win was if she were to leave so that he didn't have to worry about her. She sighed deeply as she waited for the knight to come and get her. She hoped she wasn't going to be gone for a long time but also knew that with war there was no way of telling how long it would last.

The knight sir Gildarts strode down the hall of the castle. He was supposed to take Rose and leave the country. His black armor hid his face from the world witch was the way he liked living. In his left hand was a massive bastard sword and his back was covered with a massive red shield. Coming to the bedchamber of his princess he knocked twice waited for a moment then entered. Dropping to a knee he bowed his head."My lady, are you prepared?" He really didn't like Rose and considered her a bit of a brat but he repected his king and would do as he was asked.

(The picture doesn't work...)

Rose open her eyes and looked at the ground before turning to the knight. She held back the sigh that threaten to come once she realized it was Gildarts that was going to be her protector. She walked forward and nodded her head "I suppose so." She said then looked back to the window before returning her gaze to the knight in the black armor in front of her. Out of all the knights in the palace it had to be him. She knew that he didn't like her and she felt the same towards him. He was to full of himself most of the time and would brag about his battles. She would of thought her father would have him on the front line but apparently he had a different plan for Sir Gildarts.

Standing up his massive 6'6 frame towered over her. Shrugging his broad shoulders to the right his shield slid off his arm and he grasped it. "Where are your bags?" He asked threw a helmet that muffled his speech. The center of the helmet had a black visor that covered this eyes only showing his pale lips at the bottom. Trimmed in red from the inside of the metal it rose up like a crown with many notches showing his many wins in the duel field. His black shoulder paldruns hung off his broad arms and held his red cape in place. They made him look more imposing during a fight and slightly demonic. His full plate armor covered his every inch and was silent with his every movement. "Hurry up, we need to move." His eyes narrowed under the dark lens and he gripped his sword hard. "The castle wont be held safely much longer."

The princess walked over to her bed and picked up a single bag of clothes. Her father had brought her pleasant clothes so that if they travel through a town they would notice her. Even as she stood there, she was already dress in a simple green dress that a normal girl would wear. She carried the bag back to the knight and nodded her head in agreement "Then lets go already." She said and walked past the tall man with her bag in hand. She waited for him in the hall, looking at the walls as if trying to memorize her home before she leaves it.

Gildarts walked behind her and slowly came to her side. His armor clanked heavily with every step he took. Looking down at her he placed a hand on his shoulder. "All will be well and I will give my life to keep you safe." Taking a step forward he led her down a long flight of stairs. The dark torch lit halls glowed a dim orange and revealed hard brick walls. Coming down the end of the stairs Gildarts pushed back with his left arm and stopped Rose. "Wait...enemy guards patrol the hall ahead, Stay here and let me handle this." Drawing his sword Gildarts came around the corner swinging his bastard sword in a large arc.

Rose stopped when the knight told her. She looked down the hall then back up at him and nodded, afraid to speak. She watched as the black knight walked down the hall to attack the enemy as she stayed put. She walked closer to the wall and leaned against it as she waited for him to tell her it was safe.

Gildarts swung his bastard sword in a large arc. The sword gleamed in the torch light and reflected off the enemies silver full plate armor. The cleave went threw the helm of one man and dropped him. The blood that came from the severed head was darker than the red of the soldiers standard on his chest. The sound of metal cutting metal was bone chilling and high pitched. The dark knight could feel skin and muscle snap and become severed. The bone of the dead nights neck cracked and splintered with the cut allowing the second knight to draw his sword.

The sounds of metal, flesh and bones echoed down the hall towards Rose. She looked, in hopes of seeing her protector in harm but he was cover by the wall. She forced herself to saty where she was, so that she wouldn't become a distraction to Gildarts. Rose cringed at the sound of a body falling to the ground. Worry started to set in but stopped as soon as the sound of a sword being drawn which ment another guard was still standing and so was Sir Gildarts.

Gildarts took a step back as the steel covered guard swung his small sword at him. Blocking the sword with his shield witch let out a loud ringing sound, Gildarts tackled the man to the ground and smashed his helmed head into the enemy guards. Slow to stand he shoved his bastard sword into the dazed guards gut drawing a pool of blood.

Rose jumped at the sudden sound of metal hitting metal and let out a small scream but covered her mouth to stop it. She waited for any more noise but heard none. She slowly walked down the hall, her hand gripping her bag tightly as she braced herself for the worst. She turned the corner and saw the pool of blood along with two bodies which none belong to her knight. She looked to the man in the black armor and gave a small sigh of relief as she made her way over to her guardian. "Your not seriously injured, are you?" She asked softly looking up at the face which was hidden by the helmet.

"Two no name grunts cannot best me my lady. Are you unharmed?" His cold blue eyes glared out at her with a concerned look threw his helmet. Gildarts dropped to a knee and examined her carefully. "No, your fine." Smiling he stood up and put his sword away and walked over to one of the dead soldiers. Picking up a sword he handed it to Rose. "Here, just incase...on the trip I will teach you to use it." Taking a step for the door he turned and grabbed her hand. "Don't fall behind."

Rose let the knight looked her over then nodded in agreement to her being fine. She took the sword that he handed to her and wrapped the belt around her waist and tighten it to fit her small frame. She looked up at the knight but before she could say anything he took her hand and lead her out of the castle. Rose looked up at the knight as she walked next to him "Your going to teach me how to use a sword?" she asked holding back the excitement that filled her.

Gildarts made his way out the door to the ravaged land before them. Bodies had been strewen about everywhere and countless lives had been lost. It was clear that Rose's kingdom had been lost. Taking up his sword in his left hand Gildarts looked back to make sure Rose was safe and then moved off to the right side of the castle wall. Sticking to the shadows he moved as silently as possible in his massive armor. Coming up behind two archers Gildarts ran his sword threw ones back and smashed the others face into the wall at the very least knocking him out. After retreving his blade he picked up the bow and the thirty arrows and strapped them to his back.

She looked on in horror as she saw countless bodies in the grass, covered in blood. She felt her hand fall to her side and she turned her head to see her night walk along the side of the castle. She pressed herself against the wall as she glanced around, making sure no one was coming at her. She looked back to where he disappeared to and waited for his signal to follow.

Gildarts turned and noticed Rose was no longer behind him and he groaned in annoyance. "That little...." He started to head back with the bow drawn and and arrow notched in the string. Seeing Rose he let out a sigh of relief and moved his head motioning for her to follow. "Don't stay in any one spot...your gonna get yourself killed doing that." The annoyance rolling off his tongue but he was truly concerned for the young woman.

Rose rolled her eyes at him "Whatever, I didn't know to follow you." She said taking to his side. She looked around then back up at him, waiting for him to take the lead again "I will stay behind you until you tell me otherwise." She added with a nod then looking back ahead of her.

Gildarts took her by the shoulders and brought his face close to hers. "Rose...there are people that would see you dead in your home and country right now. Your family has most likely been murdered and you are all that's left of your people. I know that we have had our differences in the past and that you don't care for me but you do need to trust me and do as I say if we are to make it out of this mess alive and well." The sound of concern rang out threw his helmet and his armor rattled with his nervous body. Rising to his feet he drew back the bow string again and moved along the line of the castle wall until he could see the rear gate. Stopping he knelt down. "Do you see them? The two soldiers on the gate wall? They are wearing the banner of your enemy. Remember that white banner with the green crossed arrows in the center of the cloth. They are who you will one day seek revenge against. Here" He handed the bow to her and stood behind her to guide her shot. "I will teach you to survive in a world that want's to kill you."

Rose stared onto the helmet searching for his eyes but couldn't find them behind the shield. She watched as his lips moved and rang out the words she was trying so hard not to believe. She looked away from him to compose herself from crying before looking back at him, her eyes lightly red. She could hear how concerned he was for the both of them which made her believe what he was saying. She nodded her head, agreeing with him. She followed the large knight as they walked along the castle wall then stopping once they reach the corner. She looked at Gildarts as he knelt down next to her. She looked to the two guards at the gate then back to her guard as he spoke. Rose took the bow in her hands then watched as he stood behind her. Thankfully she had practice archery growing up in the past but never aiming at a living thing. She let him help with her aim then waited for him to tell her to let go.

"Take a deep breath, steady your aim and take your time. When it feels right release the arrow and let it hit your mark. He gently rubbed her shoulders and then stood up. He clutched his sword in his left hand and slowly drew the blade. "I wont let you come to harm so long as you do as I say." Gildarts made a pledge on that very moment to keep her safe until she had her kingdom back. He looked at the two soldiers and his eyes darted around waiting to see if anyone else would show up. It seemed that they had already became lazy with the search for Rose, maybe thinking she was already dead.

She nodded her head then closed her eyes and relaxed. She took in a deep breath before opening her eyes and focusing on one of the guards at the gate. She took in another breath then as she released it, her fingers also let go of the arrow and the string. She watched as the bow slices through the air then hitting the guard in the back of the neck, right in between the crack of the helmet and the armor. She lowered the bow slightly as she was surprised that she had gotten the guard in the neck. Actually she honesty thought she missed the guard completely. She was brought back from his thoughts as she saw the guard fall to the ground and the other turning to find the archer who just shot the fellow guard. "Uhh Gildarts..." She whispered loud enough for him to hear as Rose took a step back but instead of open space she just stepped into her knight. She froze and looked up at him, her eyes full of worry.

"Gildarts handed her a second arrow and smiled at her. "He has no bow, and only a sword...again take your time." He grasped her shoulders and then ran a hand down her bow arm to lift it. "Notch you arrow and take your time but don't be to long or he may raise an alarm." Gildarts took a step back and turned on his heel swinging his sword cutting air and the throat of the attacker that came from behind them. "This is your kill so take it."

She nodded her head and took in another breath. She readied her bow then aimed it towards the remaining guard. She heard Gildarts sword hit flesh and it scared her slightly. She relaxed again the focused on the guard before letting the arrow free. She followed the arrow with her eyes as it hit her target again, she smiled but didn't let her growing excitement over come her.

"Good now we must leave quickly. Hide until you see the gate raise and then make your move for it." Gildarts took off in a blur towards the wall. He moved well in the armor and was amazingly fast. As he broke the cover from the castle wall guards were heard yelling and arrows wiz'd past him. Rolling to the ground he sprung up on his heels and stood halfway to the gate and watched as six archers all lined him up. A crack of a smile formed under his helmet and he reached back to draw his large tower shield hanging from his back. Raising it he started to walk backwards using the shield as cover. One by one the arrows plunged into the shield but never once breaking its defense. Slowly he made his way to the gates crank and started to turn it after planting his shield in the ground. Little did he know that more guards were on the way.

Before she could even respond, Sir Gildarts was already running into the open. She growled slightly as she looked around to make sure she was safe. She hid by the wall and watched as the arrows rained over the knight and her eyes widen. How the hell is she going to get across to the gate is she doesn't have a shield or armor. The archers would kill her in seconds. She hit her forehead gently before looking around, hoping to find some dead knights shield but alas there was none. They must of collected all deads shields and weapons. She looked back towards the gate and saw that he was already opening it but she also saw the other guards coming and sighed. So much for an easy escape. She looked around trying to come up with something that could work in their escape.
