The Knight And The Sorcerer (the pony of death & HeartOfTheDarkness)

He wasn't quite sure why he was so in love with Kieran. Maybe it was that she seemed so lonely and he wanted to reach out to her. Maybe it was because the king was still to blame for all of this mess. Maybe it was just because she was his first experience. Whatever the reason, he wanted to keep her safe from harm, to be there when she needed someone to love her.

"Ok, do what you can. We'll need all the power we can get to defeat him. I'll try my best to become stronger so that the king can't get to you." Lance smiled as they finally reached their destination. "We're here, finally." It was late in the day and he was getting a bit tired. Bring the horse to a stable, he helped Kieran off before leaving the horse. "Ok, let's relax in an inn for the evening. We can start work tomorrow." He smiled as he walked with her to the inn.

Kieran didn't know how to feel about this new found closeness, she had hated having human contact, until now what few she had come into contact with were tools. Yes she could use him to bring down the king and then leave him behind, despite that her instincts told her to keep him at a distance and not to get attached she couldn't help it. She wanted to be close to him, it felt like this was what she was supposed to be doing, in a way she needed him now. The idea of actually needing another person was terrifying, it meant that she depended solely on that person to be there for her, what if something happened. Would she be able to handle that pressure on her own.

Her mind snapped back to what was happening around her when he mentioned their arrival, she let him help her down off the horse, holding onto him tightly as they walked. Feeling a bit tired still from their escape, she was looking for a night at the inn "We will need to start working first thing tomorrow, so we are going to need a good nights sleep. We have so much work to do, this could take weeks perhaps even months" she said softly. She needed to build her endurance, and he needed to learn to use his new tool, they had so much work to do, she was even beginning to doubt they would survive this.

Lance quickly got them a room, not really bothering to chat with the man at the desk, and he walked Kieran to the room. Once they were inside, he helped her to the bed and sat down in a chair. "There, we can finally relax." It had been a long day of travel, and they would begin their training first thing in the morning. "Would you like me to get you something to eat?" He asked, getting a little hungry himself. He snacked on some of the food he bought her back in the last village, but he was still pretty hungry himself.

He worried that they wouldn't succeed himself. What if one of them died during this? What would happen to the other? Would Kieran go on a rampage and try to kill all mankind if he were to die? What if Kieran died, would he do the same out of anger? What if they both died and the king succeeded, what would happen then? Trying to take his mind off negative matters, he tried to think of what was the matter at hand, getting food for them to eat.

Kieran sighed relaxing on the bed "you can go get some food, I'm not hungry" she said softly. She knew that they would need all their strength for tomorrow but she was too tired to eat right now. Laying back on the bed releasing a heavy sigh, "I need to rest you should go get something to eat then come to bed. As for what is to come we will train and we will plan, but as for what the out come will be we will have no control. We will just have to accept our challenge as it is" she said softly. She knew that all that she was saying wasn't much comfort to either of them but anything that would calm their thoughts was better than nothing at all.

Getting up off the bed she remover her cloak and dress, she climbed back into bed, pulling the blanket over her. Rolling onto her side keeping her back to the door, she took a few slow deep breathes before falling into a light sleep. She suspected that she would not rest much tonight as she normally did.
