A forewarning and heads up that a recent change has been made to the rules regarding avatars and signatures....
Nudity is now no longer allowed in avatars and signatures. All other rules of the site remain the same however. So, NO loli/shota and NO bestiality EVER when it comes to pics regardless of anything and everything. Images in threads/posts can still be as they've been so long as they are labeled properly if needs be (that is, behind a spoiler tag or as NSFW if that is what is necessary). AND self nudes or posting nudes of others who are members is still not allowed.
So, the only change is NO nudity of any sort in avatars and signatures. It doesn't matter if the image you use is a model, anime, digital art, etc. If there is nudity, DO NOT USE IT! If there are any questions regarding whether the image you wish to use is 'covered up enough', PM staff and we'll let you know.
The reasons behind this decision are simple enough. It is partially for the image of the site. It is a WRITING SITE, not a porn site. And mainly because avatars/sigs are the first things other see as a representation of YOU, the user. The hope is that by eliminating nudity, it will help to decrease trolling and other issues that can sometimes result in giving off an accidental or unintentional impression all because of a single image used for an avatar.
Due to the fact that this is a fairly hefty change for the site, staff wants to give people some time to take down their avatars and sigs should they be non-compliant with this new rule since we know it could take a bit to find something new to take their place and because the holidays are also upon us. That said, if people could try and get things changed by the end of January 2013, staff would greatly appreciate it.
