I just posted an rp thread, this is the synopsis I had in mind: Jesse is a slave who sold himself into the role when he turned sixteen to help his family, who couldn't afford to feed his several younger siblings. He figured it'd make him one less mouth to feed and the money his family would get would save them. He's had two masters before he's found himself back up for sale. He's never told anyone that he wasn't born a slave and the separation from his family is a constant source of pain for him.
