Though she was studying the occult, V never imagined that she would have a talent for magic. Though it was an accepted presence in the world, people that could control the force or utilize spells were rare in the world. Because of this, she felt relatively sure that she wouldn't affect the delicate balance of the world by reading some of the archaic language in the spell book aloud. It was the best way to really get a sense of the spell itself, and since she was studying the summoning of otherworldly creatures at the moment, she was doubly sure that she wouldn't get very far in her endeavor.

She put the book down with a sigh and rubbed at her tired eyes. V had been reading for hours, mostly silently and to herself. It was becoming monotonous and annoying. Better to read aloud for awhile. She considered the notion as she took her hair down, removing the clip that held the shoulder-length scarlet locks in place. She was a rare combination of her mother--a beautiful Scottish woman--and her father, a tall, strikingly handsome Japanese man. She had her mother's coloring and her fathers features--a beautiful set of amber eyes, almond-shaped like her father's. A delicate, aristocratic nose, and full, lush lips came from both of her parents. Despite being already into their sixties, they were still beautiful people.

She got her mother's physique, a tall, slender body with just the right amount of curves in all the right places. Though V never really lacked attention from the opposite sex, she'd never really felt that she fit into anyone's fantasies. She was truly unique. It was only accentuated by her choice of studies. The occult was a strange field for a strange girl who'd grown up with Scottish mythology and Japanese lore. She supposed the excitement of both had infected her, but she'd never imagined that she'd be sitting in the library as she was now, pouring over tomes so old the pages were beginning to crumble. Carefully, she returned her attention to the book and began to read the spell aloud. She wasn't entirely sure what she was saying, though she knew she was calling upon "the gatekeeper." Whatever that meant.

The last thing she expected was for the spell to work.
