RE: Family affairs invite group rp.
The year is 1922, and Prohibition has made it illegal to consume alcohol. The chance to make an enormous profit was born for those willing to break the law and get into the market, as the demand was the product was high, and the availability could only come from outside legal means. Already powerful gangs suddenly became even more wealthy and influential. Small time names that before lacked the numbers or firepower, were now huge because they were quick to jump on the train of boot legging and moon shining before it left the station, rather than trying to keep up after it had taken off. What was simple liquor became liquid gold that not only did the mob benefit from selling, they were the only ones selling. Artists, workers, thrill seeking young men and women, business men, politicians, everyone had a thirst to quench, and Prohibition had unwittingly put America in the hands of gangsters, with The Mafia holding America by the throat, And The Mafia was ready to squeeze it for all it was worth.

It was an aggressive market though, and one had to be ready for blood to spill after the booze did.

New York

Isn't it nice...

"Come on, carefully now, I don't want to see any broken bottles!"
Nora Rosetta, Right Hand and Daughter of New York's newest big player. Unofficially she was considered the second most powerful person on her side of Manhattan, the first being her father. She was the one you wanted to talk to when you had to deal with the Rosetta's though, as Neil's already dark reputation had only become more and more sour through the years. Potential partners had almost lost hope until she was declared the new Right Hand and in addition the one to handle major transactions regarding her family.
The rise to power of the Rosetta Family was nothing short of astounding. Neil had caught wind of Prohibition and predicted it would pass and did the smart thing. Stockpiled more booze than The Hudson could drink. With the initial shock of the Eighteenth Amendment leaving everyone's mouth dry, he was there with a cool glass and business offers, landing him numerous deals with the best jockey's before the other gamblers could even enter the stadium and take a look at their odds.
Riding a wave of money he continued to act quick and play smart, purchasing business and hiring workers to establish an underground utopia to house his organization and product. He made no grandiose gestures and kept off the toes of the law enforcement, carefully gaining allies in public office and the police force. By the end of 1921 he had a finger in just about every pie the city. Success such as this, in a market of this nature, does not come without it's risks though. His rapid encroachment on already established and comfortable criminal kingdoms caused quite a stir. Enemies were made, and hits were carried out.
The ultimate blow was made a few months ago as Neil's Right Hand was struck down along with two of his other Cappas. His anger over this lead to both the destruction of the rival family responsible, and heavy losses on his side.
Nora Rosetta has been a miracle worker in the healing process for The Family, even building back up bridges that were once thought burned. Just last night one of the broken fragments of the destroyed rival gang, after long negotiation, had agreed to a partnership and to merge with The Rosetta Family's operations. Tonight was a celebration of this success,
"Alright, start taking them in and cracking them open, we've got a lot of guests and we want to show them a good time!" Nora encouraged the burly mustached men unloading crates from the back of a truck in the back alley. They started carrying the boxes inside and a crowd cheered. The drinking could now begin! One after another the crates were emptied, bottles trading numerous hands.
"Issall Brandy!" Neil complained with a bit of a chuckle, looking at the bottle in his hand, nudging Nora with his elbow, "How's a proper Irishman to drown himself in this?"
"Jus drink it, alright? We dun want to be rude to our new business partners." Nora whispered back.
"Ah, you're sorely mistaken if ya think I ain't going to be drinkin'!" Neil declared, popping the cork off himself and wasting no time in turning the bottle upward, chugging the contents.
Nora left her father to his devices. She was one of the few in the place without a drink in her hands now and she smiled, seeing their revelry. It was nice, this was as close to a normal party as she ever got to attend. Walking through the crowded space of the corner bed'n'breakfast she was given plenty of pats on the back and congratulations for landing the deal. They way many of the patrons saw it, she was the one to thank for the free booze that night, which made her a hero. Nora slid herself into an empty booth, relaxing into the cushion, content to watch.

RE: Family affairs invite group rp.
Trenton Nemico grinned at the girl as he passed her with a box. "Calm down hun, we ain't gonna drop anything. Trust me, we got this. Don't worry your pretty little head off eh?" Nemico never had a very interesting background, but he was loyal, even if he was from the gang that had been destroyed in the Big Man's rage. Soon the crates were unloaded and were taken inside. Now it was time for him to do what he did best. Socialize. With a bottle in one hand and a girl in the other, he made his way into the crowd. For a few minutes, he talked, he danced, he drank. Maybe this gang wouldn't be so bad. He'd just have to stay away from Neil. God knows if the man would blow his cap again, even if he didn't have a part in the death of his pal. When he saw Neil out and about in the crowd though, he simply smiled and nodded, wondering if he would even notice the man who brokered the deal that allowed what was left of his previous gang to join up.

He noticed that Nora, Neil's new Right Hand, was sitting in a booth, simply watching the party. Since he saw Neil was gone for now, he decided that he'd at least go try to get the girl into the party. After all, she was the one responsible for the booze even being here, as well as giving everyone a reason to celebrate. The people he had brought had been quite experienced in their profession, but they were rather.... withdrawn. He figured that if you didn't have friends, you'd be more of a suspect. If you were a suspect, you couldn't do what was asked of you. On the flip side, if you had countless people giving you positive character references, then you were good unless the cops found hard evidence against him. And Nemico was very thorough. He slid into the booth next to Nora, a grin on his face. "You are a wall flower aren't you? You need to get up hun. You helped get the booze, you tellin' me you aren't going to reward yourself?" He tugged gently on her arm, raising an eyebrow at her. "Come on. This is your booze. You need to get some." He was persistent, that much was true.
You know, I'd always wondered what it would be like to throw balls at wild animals.....

If it really is my party,

"Oh, hello Nemico." Nora smiled when Trenton approached, trying to get her into the spirit of things. She figured she must look like quite the sourpuss, sitting next to the window without a drink or company, not even her tie loosened or jacket buttons undone. She did appreciate the offer though, and from the man she had spent the past month being a hard-ass negotiate too. Nora may be more diplomatic than her father, but she was exactly that. Diplomatic. She bargained Trenton to the bone till they finally struck the deal and she felt confident they both came out the better for it. The Rosetta family more or less adopted them as an extension, taking in all their territory, contacts, weapons and liquor. In exchange they were to be treated as part of the gang and Trenton got himself a spot high in the command of The Rosetta Family, beneath Nora and even with the other Cappas.

She shook her head with good nature as she declined his offer, "No thanks, I'm fine. A job well done is reward enough if you ask me." She told him, leaning an elbow on the table and resting her head in her hand, "You're welcome to join me though, if ya like." She waved her other hand to the spot opposite of her in the booth, thinking he would politely decline and get back to his party.

Then why can't I enjoy it how I want?

The man raised an eyebrow, chuckling as he sat down next to her. "A job well done isn't well done if the one who does it doesn't enjoy it. And, between you and me hun, we argued for months for me and mine to get in here, you aren't gettin' rid of me so easily." He chuckled, waving a finger at her in mock disappointment. With a small laugh, he grabbed an extra bottle from a passing person and placed it down in front of Nora. "Listen, don't be a sourpuss. You need to get more social. You can't go around being anti-social. Otherwise, things aren't going to be very bright." He grinned at her, tilting his head, looking back out at the throng of people and smiling. "You know what? I'm going to bring you out to a club some time. I know this place that has really good music." He looked back at her.

"Bix sings most of the time there. It's a nice place. And it'll teach you to loosen up a bit. You look like a stiff." He chuckled running a hand through his dark hair. He wasn't going to leave her alone until she at least looked like she was joining in the party. He was kind of an ass that way. "Listen, I'm not going to leave you alone until you stop looking like you had a bad day and decided to just...... fall apart." He was trying hard to get her drinking. These were bad times, people got thirsty. The suppliers were no different. They just didn't have to pay as much.

RE: Family affairs invite group rp.
Damian frowned as he walked around the party. He couldn't help thinking that these people were murderers....well they all were, but they murdered his father. He sort of wanted to slit their throats but...but Nora and the Don said that they should team up with them. Growling a little bit Damian fiddled with the knife he had in his sleeve. He was wondering if maybe he could kill one person for killing his father since Uncle Niel had kept him out of the revenge thing. Sighing Damian continued to walk around trying to spot his cousin. Everyone seemed to be having a good time and were all drinking.

Sighing Damian didn't feel like drinking right now so he continued to walk around pointedly avoiding anyone he knew. It took a while but he saw Nora and one of THEM. Damian's eye twitched as he stormed over a bit angrily. Sitting down next to Nora Damian pulled out one of his knives and stabbed it into the table as he glared at the man. "Stay away from my cousin pervo." Damian said as he crossed his arms and slumped in his seat. He was not happy, not happy at all.

Trent raised his eyes as the new person made himself known rather...... violently. "Pervo? Calm down kid, me and Nora were just talking. Jeez, I hope all you Rosetta's aren't anti-social like this." He adjusted the way he sat, lifting up the lapel of his jacket, revealing a holstered pistol. "Listen kid, don't think you scare me. The only one who does that is the Don, and you sure as hell ain't him." Trent chuckled, going back to the way he was sitting, pulling the man's knife from out of the table. "Well, this is good ain't it? Heh, you look like you like knives." He slid the knife back across the table, shaking his head, catching the new person's eye.

"Listen, this is a party. Don't go ruining it with your bad attitude and your blades. You wanna help? Teach your cousin not to be such a wallflower." He stood, tipped his hat and, grabbing his bottle of booze, went back to mingle with the crowd. He thought quietly to himself, 'Not all Rosetta's can be like that. At least one of them have to know how to have fun... right?" He shrugged, sighing and immersing himself in the atmosphere.

RE: Family affairs invite group rp.
Why can't all the bad blood,

"Man o' thee hour!" A booming, jovial voice proclaimed and a large, powerful hand clasped Trenton's shoulder. He was suddenly very, very close to Neil Rosetta, the dangerous Don drinking merrily, "Yes, it's you, the boy who's been busy the last month, meetin' with MY daughter behind closed doors frequently!" the man sang and laughed at his own joke, "I must say this brandy your boys brought issactually rather potent! Still tastes like a politician's bile though!" He squeezed the young man's shoulder, the other hand throwing the bottle back as he took another swig, "It's been a while since I enjoyed a hardy drink, I suppose I'd been rather busy of late!" He laughed coarsely.

[Image: scaled.php?server=401&filename=n...p;res=crop]
"What is WRONG with you!?" Nora hissed to her cousin. She picked up the knife from the table and threw it at him, "I worked hard on this and I'll be damned if you ruin it for me!" Her fire died quickly though. She knew why he was upset. She softened and felt sheepish now, "I'm sorry...but you'll have to get over it. You know my father took care of it, isn't...isn't that enough?"

Damian continued to glare at the man not phased by his gun at all. He would have made a smart ass comment but decided against it for his cousin's sake. So he kept silent and took his knife back his facial expression not changing in the slightest. Through the exchange with the man.

When Nora began to yell at him Damian's glare intensified a bit as he stared at her. She knew what he lost to these people and was yelling at him for being upset? Didn't she realize how hard it was for him to even come to this stupid party at all. Damian fiddled with the knife in his hand again before she apologized about what was said. "Enough? ENOUGH?! I wasn't allowed to take part is avenging my father, I have to go back to my home only to hear my mother, your aunt crying every night. Uncle Neil lost a friend, you lost an uncle, me and my ma? We lost everything to these people." Damian said as he kept his voice low and put his knife away and placed his hands on the table before sighing. "But...I trust you and uncle Neil with everything. If this was necessary you wouldn't have done this and I wouldn't have been brought here. I'm not happy, not by a long shot, I wont kill anyone or try to make a scene, but neither am I letting them get to close to you or Uncle Neil. I lost a lot already I'm not willing to lose any more." Damian said before leaning back against the booth once more, arms still crossed.

RE: Family affairs invite group rp.
Trenton nearly jumped out of his skin when he felt a large hand on his shoulder, a voice booming behind him. Instinctively he started to reach for his pistol, but seeing that it was the Don, he quickly pulled his hand away from the holster. "Holy Jesus, you just about scared the shit outta me." He tipped his hat, trying to get his breathing back under control. "Yes, yes it's me. Your daughter is one of the hardest hard-asses I've ever met." He actually relaxed a little bit when he complimented his brandy, giving him a small, modest smile. "Yeah, thanks. We'd had that stuff sitting for a bit. The really good stuff was in the main house.... but as you know, we couldn't get to that." Trent shrugged, rubbing the back of his neck.

RE: Family affairs invite group rp.
Sometimes I think I should have picked a different line of work.

"Thass all in the past now, inunit?" Neil exclaimed, despite his age he was still a larger man than Trenton. Yet he was almost hanging off the younger gangster as he spoke, "No pointin' stewing in an empty pot!" His already thick accent was made a bit more difficult by the mild slur that started to creep into his voice. Neil was still one that could drink most men under the table, so the amount of alcohol he must have already consumed to be this affected already must have been astounding, "Ah, ye mention me lass is a bit off a 'hard-ass' eh? Are ye speaking strictly from a metaphorical perspective?" He nudged Trenton and laughed again. He had a roaring bellow of a laugh, loud and genuine.

[Image: scaled.php?server=52&filename=n5...p;res=crop]
She winced as he told her about what he had been going through. She had been trying to deaden the pain with work. It staved off the sorrow while she was busy, but she knew how he felt more than anyone. She had been very close to her uncle, "I'm sorry..." She said again, "Come on, this is a party, after all! Try and have some fun, won't you?" Leaning forward with an elbow on the table and her head in one gloved hand, the other hand resting on the tabletop. Looking beside her she saw her the drink Trent had left her and slid it over to Damian, offering it to him, "Go on, We should enjoy our lives before they end, right?"
[Image: scaled.php?server=534&filename=n...p;res=crop]

But then I'd just be lying to myself.

Trent had actually started to relax around the Irishman. He seemed friendly enough, at least as long as he was drunk. "I pray to God it's all in the past. You Rosetta's get scary when you're angry." He grinned at him, taking a swig from his own bottle, hist first of the night so far. Although he'd heard from quite a few people that this man was a drinker, the Irish blood probably contributing greatly to that. He'd have to figure out how many bottles he had already. That way Trenton would have nothing to really worry about. When he mentioned Nora, he grinned wider. "I could be. I've been too busy to really find out." Man, this guy sure was fun when he was drunk. He could get used to this. He wondered how different he'd be if he was sober. Somehow, he didn't think Neil would be as friendly. But, no use in fretting about the future. It hadn't even come yet.

Know what I need?

"Ay, well now that we got a healthy fear in ya laddie, I suppose that'll be incentive enuff to stay in line!" Neil took Trenton walking with him around the place as they spoke. Whenever he finished a bottle he just handed it to someone and held out his hand and miraculously a new one would swiftly appear with the cork cordially removed so that he could resume without having to stop and take it off. Everyone who worked for Neil knew that if he was in a drinking mood, they should do their best to foster it. Last time he got plastered, the man gave one of the grunts money to buy a boat with on the fly.

"Oh? Don't be pussyfooting conversation with a drunk man!" He implored, giving Trenton a squeeze on his shoulder again, "When in this condition, one finds straight talk to be far easier to entertain!"

MORE BRANDY!

The man sighed as he was dragged around by the Don, chuckling every now and then. "I'm not pussyfooting anything." He raised an eyebrow, looking over to where Nora and the other man were sitting. "Honestly, I haven't had time to look. Or feel. Getting this stuff out of a safe and into a truck wasn't easy you know." He grinned, finally finishing off his first bottle, grabbing a second one and uncorking it. "Uhm, listen, I'm not sure if you've realized this, but there's your daughter and her cousin aren't touching anything, they're just sitting there. I tried to get Nora into a partying spirit, but I didn't have much luck I guess." Trent shrugged, shaking his head. "I think, I think I might be able to help with that actually. I know of this really nice little club down by the docks. Good music, good drinks if you know who to talk to. You think I could..... maybe escort Nora to the place? After all, she needs a drink. At the very least to celebrate bringing the stuff in."

For a moment he thought, eyeing the other man, his head cocked slightly to the side. "Hell, you know what? The both of them could come. They both need to calm down a lil' bit. I don't like seeing people all high-sprung like that." With a flourish he grabbed another bottle, seeing Neil was out once again. He quickly uncorked it and handed it to him, shaking his head. "Holy Jesus, you sure can handle your stuff can't ya?"

After her apology and telling him to try and have fun Damian sighed and took the drink. He knew he couldn't be upset about it all the time but it still seemed a bit disrespectful to break bread with the people responsible for his fathers death. Sighing he nudged his cousin as he took a sip of the drink again. "I can try I guess. Pa wouldn't be happy if I just sat around moping when you and uncle Neil worked so hard to avenge him and everything now would he." Damian said with a sigh as he continued to sit with his cousin.

The Russians have been monopolizing Vodka,

"Yeah, that's the spirit!" Nora tried to chime, but her voice lacked any real luster. She felt more sad for Damian than about her uncle's death at this point. She had moved on, made her peace. Damian obviously still needed to get past it. She couldn't blame him, but still. It can't be good to dwell on such a thing. She leaned her head into one of her hands again, looking out the window to the now dark street outside, "So. Any ideas on what our next move should be?" She asked, trying to make any kind of conversation to get rid of the silence.
[Image: scaled.php?server=217&filename=n...p;res=crop]

"Ah, want to be more aaalooone with 'er eh? You cheeky boyo!" The man laughed, downing half the bottle Trent gave him, "Well I don't see no harm in trying, but I wish you luck! My girl isn't the most outgoing." He warned and then finally let go of Trenton, immediately latching onto another guest, "TONY! How's that leg treatin' ya? Sorry about that..."

Maybe we should try and get in on that?

RE: Family affairs invite group rp.
Walking past Neil, Sarina got a loving pat on the head from her father figure who was too busy drinking and talking to people Sarina did not know to pay much attention to the young woman. Sarina on the other hand was busy herself as she walked towards where Nora and Damian were sitting, before sitting in the empty seat. Licking at the ice cream in her hand. "Who's the man Big Sis?" Sarina asked, indicating the man who had just been speaking to Neil. "And I thought we were fighting the people? Why all the drink?" Everyone knew of how little Sarina drank, and just how more unpredictable she could be under the influence so very little alcohol had been offered to the woman this night.

Lifting up the violin case that was positioned in her other hand, Sarina placed the case on the table as she continued to attack the cold treat in her hand. "Hey Damian..." Sarina muttered, sensing some form of tension in the air as she readjusted her long coat to sit comfortably before twisting slightly to face the crowd of people, eyes flicking from one unfamiliar face to another as she tried to stare them all down while continuing to lick away at the ice cream.

RE: Family affairs invite group rp.
He was only slightly relieved when Neil finally latched on to another guest. That man had a killer grip. Well, he was free now, walking over to the bar and grabbing himself another bottle, discarding the empty one. Looking back over to where Nora and her cousin were sitting, he saw that another girl had joined the mix. 'Another Rosetta?' he thought to himself. 'I hope this one is more of a party person.' He grinned to himself, wondering if he should go back. That man had made it obvious that he didn't like him. Trent didn't want to be responsible for getting the rest of his guys killed, so going over there and basically provoking that man wasn't the best idea.

He noticed that the new girl had a violin case, and instantly his interest piqued. For a moment, he had a little battle in his brain, but finally decided to go over, at least to see if this new girl had a better attitude then the guy with the knife. He strode over to the table, tilting his head first at Nora and then at the new girl. With a grin, he gently placed the bottle down in front of the girl with the violin case, nodding to Nora before standing up and heading back over to the bar.

Did....did he just....

Neil saw Sarina enter and gave her a pat on her cute little head as he continued telling a story about him on a train with a man in a white suit. Nora looked up to see her and smiled warmly, "Glad you could make it sis! That is Trenton, our new Cappa. The party is because they joined us, I told you all this last night!" Nora complained, "Were you paying attention at all?" She sighed. Her sister could be a handful.

She looked up when Trenton approached again. He acknowledged her, left a bottle, nodded then left, "..."

Damian nodded, and smiled, to his cousin as she walked in with a violin. Damian shrugged as he looked about the party. "Trenton is the other guy I scared away right? The one that just came over here and left again?" Damian asked as he looked over at Nora. Shrugging Damian thought about what their next move should be. Taking another sip Damian wondered what their next move should be. "I suppose....logically....we should introduce Trenton to Sarina." The redhead said with a bit of smirk. "Guess he isn't as unafraid of me as he thought he was." Damian said with a smirk, making him feel a bit happy at the thought that he was feared, or at least slightly intimidating.

Staring at the guy walking over to their table, Sarina glanced uncertainly at the bottle placed in front of her person, next to her violin case. Continuing to keep her eyes on the man until he stopped again at the bar, Sarina moved her attention to the alcohol placed upon the table, obviously meant for her. At the sound of Nora's voice, the young woman quickly shifted her gaze to her sibling through adoption. "Um... I might have been listening... Was I playing the violin or eating a cone? Cos you know I get a little distracted..."

Giggling, Sarina tentatively poked the bottle, pulling back quickly in fear of something happening. When the drink didn't explode in her face, the lady took the smallest of moments to stop eating her ice cream to take a quick swig, grimacing at the taste, she pushed the bottle away. "Ew... Brandy..." Staring back at the gentleman by the bar, Sarina tried to form some kind of opinion. "He likes brandy. What else is there to know?" The female asked, turning back to her family members.

She looked over to Trenton at his bar seat and waved for him to walk back across the room again, "Now listen, he is has the same equal say as the two of you, so play nice, alright?" Nora hoped things would go better than they already were. Her sister had no listened to her and was writing him off because he drank Brandy, and Damian did not like him already because he considered these people responsible for his father's death.

cannot stand.

Trent had just sat down at the bar when he felt eyes on him. When he looked towards where he felt it coming from, he saw Nora motioning for him to come back over to the table. He sighed, standing up, rolling his head and striding over there, leaning forward with his hands on the table. "You beckoned? Did any of you need a drink, or are we just going to have some sort of conversation?" His head tilted, his eyes lively, even when they glanced at Damian. The more he thought about it, the more he seemed less and less scary. He didn't want to think about what would happen if it came down to a fight, but he was pretty sure that as long as he didn't let the guy too close to him, he'd be fine. But, like he'd said, he'd rather not think about that.
You know, I'd always wondered what it would be like to throw balls at wild animals.....

Communication,

[Image: scaled.php?server=41&filename=n3...p;res=crop]
"I just think you should be well acquainted with the other Cappas. This," Nora jerked a thumb towards the girl beside her, "Is my sister, Sarina." She then motioned with her hand to indicate the young man across from her, "This is my cousin, Damian. The three of you work directly below me, and I answer to my father. Most administration is to be handled by others and myself, nothing you need to worry about. Our most important functions together are," She pointed her index finger up, "One, information," She added her middle finger, "Two, negotiation," She added her ring finger, "And three, elimination. We gather and give information and act on it. We do out best to handle things diplomatically, and lastly if all else fails, we are to take care of any problem that cannot be reasoned with. Understand?" This was mainly to inform Trenton, but also made a good refresher for Damian and Sarina. Especially Sarina.

is key.

Damian nodded over to Trenton when he was introduced. "I guess we will be working together.....but still, hurt either of my cousins and I cut out your spleen." Damian said taking out one of his throwing knives again before putting it away. "Also, I don't like your guys, I'll work with them, and you, but I wont like it. My pa died because of your family and I'm not happy about working with you. Maybe down the road I wont want to stab you, but once I'm done talking I'll at least begin to try and like you lot." Damian said as he shrugged a bit and then took a sip again form his drink. Moving over a bit Damian motioned for Trenton to sit down on his side with him.
