Warning of new cencorship

I'm not sure where to put this, or even if this is something that people on this site are concerned about. So I'll just put it up, and if I'm told that it will be taken down then I've done what I could.

and read this very carefully. This is something that is going to effect everyone that uses the internet. Times are going to get bad if something like this passes so please, read this, and get in contact with your Representative asap. This is something that will snowball if allowed to happen.

If you don't know who to get into contact with your representative please go to wikipedia, and type something in the search engine. From there you'll be take to the black out page. It'll ask you for your area code, enter it, and it will tell you how to get into contact with the people that you need to write.

Please help spread the word. Tell everyone about this. Its very important.

Yeah there's already been threads discussing SOPA and PIPA. At this point, I think it probably won't pass. The word has spread and the reaction is civil but stern. Plus, the white house is claiming to oppose them as well.

And a lot of sites are doing the black out thing.

That was a link Reddit had on their blackout page. If The Powers That Be can't regulate the internet one way, they will try to find another I am afraid.

There is no way that they will be able to hash it out if it's taken 5 years already.

Wel, apparently Megavideo-Megaupload has been taken down and the guy behind it Kim "Dotcom" or something like that might be facing around 50 years of prison for simply managing the whole thing (and several other more pornographic sites).

If all of this somehow does go forward and the internet, the main source of distraction for the masses since the TV, is censored and controlled then we will be facing the end of the world quite soon.

That said, I better start setting up a hard drive for porn while it's still downloadable!


Edit: Of course, Megavideo could be doing the whole blackout thing, in which case I have to laugh hard because the news in Spain is only talking about that like it's a real sign of the apocaypse.

It was clear that the next big event in the history of the human race would have something to do with the internet, it's biggest invention. I think a lot of firms are putting pressure on the goverment because the money they are losing on the stuff distributed for free here. In the end, the goverments of each country will probably have to decide whether they stay buddy buddy with the guys with cash or with the rest of the population.

Also... 175$ million worth of content? I so regret not working for them.

@ Hahvoc. Sorry about putting this in the wrong place. I really wasn't sure where it was supposed to go.

I don't even know why its even being considered. They should have been thrown out long before it ever got the chance to be voted on. Its censorship, and goes against the bill of rights. Its as simple as that.

Though if on the off chance, and it does happen, hopefully someone will take it to the supermen court, and gets it thrown out.
