The Last Fairy (wingshadow and wolvenrogue)

Tim was in awe of what had just happened, how she had given everything for him. He stroked her cheek gently and kissed her lovingly. It was the kiss a child might give its mother, not the crude kisses the fairy had received from his family. He rubbed her back and wings and cuddled against her. Letting her catch her breath after her ordeal.

Hanabi's eyes opened, first filled with a hint of fear as he kissed her, but gradually relaxing as he merely cuddled with her without attempting to strip her bare. She draped an arm around his body as well and let him hold her close to himself. Then, tentatively, she returned a few of his kisses albeit they were merely pecked on his cheek and forehead much like her own mother had given her, as if showing her appreciation for showing her this vast and strange world outside her cage. As the sun began to set she closed her eyes once again to slip into a silent and peaceful sleep beside Tim...

Matthew, now mounted on his favorite horse, rode through the forest and along the roads while scanning the countryside. He knew that the fairy emitted a dim glow, even when depressed or sad, and trusted that he would be able to spot the signature warm glow from her body should he come within a quarter mile of her.

As they rested in the treetops, they we up and above the line of sight of Mathew and his father, and though they looked for them that entire day, they found not even the slightest sign of them. Tim woke to the sound of horse hooves, and the two lay together in silence as Mathew and his father passed right underneath them.

To Tim, this was a fortunate situation because it was obvious that Mathew and his father thought them to still be ahead. When nightfall came they would backtrack and throw their pursuers even further off their trail.
