In depth storytelling and plot developments

Just to give some ideas based on preferences above, here are a couple of plot ideas. Please bear in mind, they are subject to the above preferences.

On the devastated waste of old earth, there were the remains of the megacities and then there were dangerous wastelands outside those cities. In the cities, some societies struggled to maintain order amongst the wealthy, living in the tops of mega-skyscrapers that still had generators and power while squatters lived in the shambles of the city below. In the rural areas of the world, it was a struggle for survival, either join one of the roaming gangs run by some despot or struggle in the small walled remains of old cities now inhabited by the few settlers that want to leave free of any control from both the wealthy in the city and the gangs that roam the world now.

In this world, one of them comes from the city, has taken up work for the mega-rich and seen the lavish life they live, secluded from the hardships of the world. Then there is the other, having lived the rural life between roaming gangs and ‘altruistic’ settlements, preferring the life of lone traveler amongst the wastelands. Both find themselves on the run from their respective ‘worlds’, in search of a world their own, free from everyone else – can they learn to survive together, can they even cooperate, will their pasts come to haunt them or will they find new dangers in this brave new world?

They perform in the Floating Circus of Adriella Van Draken. The circus calls The Fantoma Nori its home, this being a large airship that travels from port to port, catering to the wealthy – flying them up and giving them the show of their lives. Death defying acrobatics and stunts alike performed thousands of feet in the air. Between legitimate circus performances and activities, the Fantoma Nori holds smaller balloons and dirigibles in her holds that are used to raid and plunder other ships; of the air, land and sea.

One performs tightrope activities over the open floor of the massive performance gondola strapped to the belly of the Fantoma Nori, the other a stilt walker that works the crowds. Both of them have raided, they know the true business of Adriella – or so they thought. It was that way until they discover that one of the former crew has gone missing. Further, they discover that the missing member was kidnapped as a young child and was trained for a specific purpose. That purpose is so important to Adriella the she intends to kidnap another child to fulfill that purpose. The process of preparation for that purpose involves many years of mistreatment by Adriella and her chief engineer.

The two performers are asked to escort the would be kidnapper on his mission to attain the child – they find themselves with free time to discuss what’s going on. What will they do? Leave to be no part of it and possibly be hunted down by Adriella and the other pirates of the Fantoma Nori, stay to stop the plot or help for the purpose of discovering her true intention? Join another ship, start their own – what other adventures await? Will they just be mutual acquaintances or will the excitement of life on the run (from law, other pirates, Adriella) stimulate them in ways they never imagined and forever change their once professional relationship.

Still searching for something post-apocalyptic RP (could be fall out, could be zombie driven).

I have this craving for something retro 50s-60s within the setting - I'd be interested in an Outlaw Biker genre crossover with a post apocalyptic setting. I'm thinking bikes/muscle cars and steam punk 50s sort of styling/ideas set in the genre (anything James Dean'esque almost). The RP could involve competition for control of resources (think feudalism meets outlaw biker, where bike/car gangs compete for control of what natural resources remain in the post apocalyptic future) where the characters some how get tangled up in it all as other outsiders thrown into the world, or insiders (even a Romeo/Juliet type relationship between main characters caught between two such gangs could be interesting and there is plenty of opportunity for longevity within the theme). Doesn't matter who is 'good' or 'bad' just as long as it falls within my likes/interests for collaborative/cooperative RP.

Something film noir/gangster/detective would really be nice. This could be anything ranging from historical/modern to fantasy to steam punk; could even be crossed with dark fantasy or even angel/demon. Something starting with one of them 'good' and one of them 'bad' and crossing paths would be interesting. Something where one of them on the good side is investigating a minor incident, the one on the bad side becomes suspect and is investigated. The truth turns out to be something more than either could realize. This one could be good with two RP partners playing multiple roles in a dark shrouded story were criminal organizations hold the upper hand. Most of the story would evolve around the initial pairing, but there is so much room for play with other pairings and scenes to move the story along, add to it, and just explore whatever world this ends up being set within.

I know I was pretty broad/basic with plot lines in the initial post, so here is a couple of starting plot lines that may be interesting. Please note, the him/her roles can easily be reversed. These are interesting, but become more interesting when a theme is tied into it, please see theme ideas above.

Plot ideas group A: Opposites

Plot Idea 1: Wrong Side of the Tracks
Him - faltering good guy sent on job by boss/superior/etc.
Her - fallen good girl in a bad situation

Scenario: On his job/mission/etc., he comes across her, she is suspect because of her affiliations, they have a physical attraction but struggle because they are on 'opposite' sides, they must figure out how to work together to solve the scenario.

Example role pairings: Detective and Lounge owner/singer/performer; hedge knight and cat purse trying to make a living; inter dimensional tax agent and rogue business owner; and so on

Plot Idea 2: You got your peanut butter in my chocolate
Him - represents one group affiliation
Her - associated with group that is opposed to his group

Scenario: Both groups are opposed, but our main characters find each other and are/become attracted to each other. That is, until they realize they are each from opposed groups. Their groups

Example role pairings: Two members of opposed royal families, two gang members, one is CIA the other is the FBI, one drives a Ford the other drives a Chevy and the intergalactic tractor pull championships are fast approaching.

Plot Idea 3: You must work together!
Him - state official
Her - private contractor

Scenario: The true authority/ruler/king/president has a special mission, both are assigned to work together, but they have conflicting opinions for how this must be accomplished, but than again, they each think the other is attractive.

Example pairings: Military Officer and Scientist, royal tax adviser and privateer captain/ship owner, family member of someone important to state and mercenary, one is a ballerina the other is into extreme sports.

Plot ideas group B: We're on the Same Side

Plot Idea 1: We School Together
Him&Her: Same organization/entity

Scenario: Having some past together, they are coupled on missions to save the organization, its a unison of strengths and weaknesses from each to try and overcome their problems. They must put their minds together to overcome a series of intriguing or action packed delimma, discovering along the way that not only are the similar by way of profession/philosophies, but they're also attracted to each other.

Example pairings: Both are special agents, both went to same school of magic, both are knights, both are rogues, both are zookeepers.

Plot Idea 2: Same Side, Different Representation
Him: knowledge based profession
Her: physical based profession

Scenario: Both are associated under the same parent organization (same government, same school, same king, etc.) but work in different areas. They know of each other but don't spend much time together, until they are assigned to work together. They each think things should be done their way, but they must figure out how to make a new way, that involves both their strengths.

Example roles: Knight and Wizard, police officer and criminologist, scientist and mercenary, accountant and trash collector

Plot Idea 3: Secret Allies
Him: works for public group
Her: works for secret unknown group but for the same cause as the public group

Scenario: A problem arises that couples the public group with its secret affiliated group. They never knew about each other and now must work together somehow.

Example Pairings: Scientist and Area 51 Scientist, Werewolf and Vampire both groups guardians of humankind against greater darkness, King's Guard and Queen's Handmaiden's (which is really an intelligence agency for the king/queen).


Plot Summary

Each above plot line represents a basic starting point, but I'm looking for long term RP. I imagine each story is some series of unfortunate events that can lead up to a big earth shattering concept. Such concepts could be things like aliens invade and are turned back, evil fae overlord is invading humanity and must be stopped, the evil tyrannical armies are taking over the world and must be stopped. I guess I'm basically saying that while the earth shattering concepts can be fun, I want the longevity of seeing how the characters interact over time, so should start with smaller scale 'bad' things.

RE: Plot ideas

Really craving Steam Punk Pirate RP.

I've done some work setting up a theme for a few friends earlier this year, intended to enjoy some group RP, but this fell through due to activity of friends.

If someone wants to read that wiki, I'm interested in that theme, however, I am more than interested and willing to develop a mutual theme exclusive of that above content. My preference is Victorian era steam-punk (I don't like borrowing from books/movies/anime, but think similar to the movies Wild Wild West or the recent Sherlock Holmes, even a splash of Sweeney Todd) with possibly a mix of low fantasy elements for added flavor (alchemical or 'faux science' based magic to suit theme, possibly some subraces even).

Would still prefer long-term RP in this environment. I am up for pairings that suit theme and developing a plot evolving somehow around two supporting main characters, but am also interested in multiple character portrayals (ie, we each play multiple personalities in a developing story and exploring more theme/world).

A few interesting pairings, if this helps stimulate reasoning and indulgences:

Rival Pirate Captains

Pirate Captain x Ranking Naval Officer sent in search of said Captain
Captives x Captive, or ship crew member x ship crew member (Pirate Captain would probably be starting antagonistic NPC)
State Officials x State Official (scientists/military/bureaucratic) after the same goal
State Official x Opposing State Official - same as above but represent two opposing nations - could become spy'esque in nature


If from theme above:
Any Old World Imperialist role (pirate or state) x New world Chieftain/Warrior/Maiden
Alchemist x Pirate Captain or Naval Officer (while this would be borderline sub/dom play, I'm not interested in BDSM overly much)
