an officer (gentleman?) and the lady ( picklechiffon and wolvenrogue)

They walked around the deck and then back to their cabin. Robert was pretty sure Liz was still having a bit of trouble. She looked uncomfortable and a bit tired. "Maybe we should lay down for a while?" he suggested. He gave her a sly smile, that usually resulted in her wrapping herself around him. Robert was surprised as he took off his boots and laid on the bed, and Liz just laid on his chest and closed her eyes. Robert was a little worried, but he wrapped his arm around her and let her sleep. About six hours later he woke to the sound of vomiting, he looked over to see Liz hunched over the bath basin. He got up and held her head. she had been at it a while and was weak as a kitten. when she finally stopped, he wiped her face with a damp towel and carried her over to the bed. She was still dressed so he carefully helped her out of her clothes and into a nightgown. He laid her in the bed and pulled the covers up around her chin. He kissed her on the forehead, and said I'm going for the doctor. Liz was not herself, and this was not sea sickness he was convinced of it.

Robert returned with Doctor Bailey a few minutes later.

Elizabeth hated throwing up. Loathed it. She felt miserable when Robert left, the concern so evident in his eyes. When he returned with the doctor, she sighed, and pushed herself up to sit and answer the man's questions.

“Are you feeling alright ma’am?” He asked as he felt her for a fever.

Elizabeth laughed softly.

“I am fine, I’ve never been on a boat like this before, I’m sure that’s all this is.” She tossed an accusing stare at Robert for being such a ninny. She was fine, it was just motion sickness.

“Well, from what he has said ma’am, I’d like you to lay down and I’d like to examine you.”

His tone was light and non threatening. Elizabeth sighed. She did as she was told and lay down. The Doctor put his hands on her stomach, and pressed in various places. She frowned. It didn’t hurt, but her normally soft rounded belly was hard under the skin.

The Doctor clucked his tongue, pressed in several more spots, and she flinched as his fingertips touched her wounded side. He asked her permission to lift her shirt and inspect.

“No infection, that is good. Thank you ma’am.” He said nodding to her. He looked to Robert. “Sir if you would see me out.” He arched and eye at Robert.

Elizabeth sighed. She was married once again, and once again it was her husband who would receive news before she did. She watched the two men leave the room, shutting the door solidly behind them.

"Wait here one second sir" Dr. Bailey said as he stepped back in for a moment. "begging your pardon ma'am, but when was the last time you had your time a month?? he watched as Liz though about it .. "seven weeks ago" her answer. "right, thanks" he said as he went back out to talk to Bob. " Well sir.. other than that nasty wound on her side, that's really still healing, she's healthy as a horse. Just one thing, though. You been dippen in her honey pot? if you know what I mean?" "well yeah of course! she's my wife!" (Elizabeth heard Roberts voice from out in the Hall) "Well then son! congratulations! Your gonna be a Papa!, I'd bet my hat on it. Go on in and kiss her" The doctor said. Oh, "and the exam is on the house." YAHOOOO! Robert yelled and burst in the door.

Elizabeth jumped when Robert burst suddenly back into the room, hooting and hollering. She raised an eyebrow questioningly before he was on her hugging her. She laughed, as she pushed him back playfully.

"What did he say? Nothing right? Just motion sickness?" She was still clinging to that hope, but she knew of only one thing that made grown men so happy. She felt anxiety rising up in her belly,as she waited for Robert t o regain his breath and tell her the news himself. She couldn't help but feel excited, knowing he was this happy. She pulled him down to her and kissed him hard.

"Focus! What did he tell you?" She asked sternly, trying not to laugh at the giddyness of her trail warn cowboy.

Robert, beaming, and grinning ear to ear, took two deep breaths and said "I'm gonna be a Dad!"

He picked her up and twirled her around the room forgetting her stomach for a moment. Then a serious look came over his face , and he laid her down on the bed as though she were made of finest crystal. "we have to be careful now I think we'll wait for the train in Columbus. No horseback riding this trip!"

Elizabeth smiled softly as Robert went on about travel plans.

Pregnant.

She hadn’t even thought about not having her cycle. The wound in her side, and the change in the climate, she hadn’t even dreamt about possibly being until she breasts had begun to hurt a week ago, and she had stopped to think it had been a long time since she’d bled.

She kissed him gently, afraid if she tried to talk she would start crying out of happiness.

“Whatever you feel is best, I want to be home though, under the Western sky when it comes. I want the baby to be born in your land, not mine.” She kissed him softly, and nestled her head against his chest as he talked about how they would make the rest of their trip with her comfort in mind.

Robert hugged her to him, his hands trembling. never had he felt so alive, so much in love. They had a long journey ahead, but now they had a purpose. He layd back and held her head to his chest. They watched again as the river passed Victoria Elizabeth he said in a dreamy voice.. It's going to be a girl you know. Don't ask me how I know, I just do.

Elizabeth snuggled into Robert's chest. "It will be beautiful not matter what it is," she answered softly. She was still in a happy state of shock. The baby would have had to have been concieved while he was rescuing her from the stage crash. She let her mind drift, wondering which of the times they made love it had happened. She smiled up at Robert, a slight flush on her cheeks, as she remembered the horseback rides, and the nights filled with his touch. She tipped her face to his and gently kissed him.

"I can't believe we are going to have a baby." She chuckled softly as his hand spanned her abdomen protectively. There was something gorwing inside her, that was going to be a combination of her and of him.

Elizabeth sighed her head spinning.

Robert was happy but a little worried. “Is there anything you would like to eat sweety? He ask hoping she was feeling a little better. Let me go down to the kitchen and get something for you? Robert did his best to make her feel com fortable. He propped her up with pillows, and even found a good book for her in the library. He knew he was spoiling her even more than she wanted, but it made him feel good to do it.
Everything had changed in a moment. Now she was a mother, the mother of his child. The day passed slowly and when evening came, there was a dance scheduled.” Do you feel up to a dance Elizabeth?” He asked her.

Elizabeth smiled as she watched Robert disappear. She wasn’t feeling bad, just nauseous. She pulled the blanket about her. She smiled warmly as Robert came in with a small tray of bread and cheese with some fruit. She made room for him to sit next to her. She tasted a bit of bread and a mouthful of cheese, the food seemingly settling her stomach.

“I would love to go to a dance, I am feeling fine, I promise.” She smiled at her love, reassuring him. She wasn’t about to break, she just was having a hard time with the motion on top of her insides being rearranged by a baby. She hopped that the journey to Boston, and what they found there wouldn’t put her under too much stress.

She picked up another piece of bread and nibbled on it, as she watched Robert. He was a man transformed, she smiled at him a soft flush in her cheeks as she met his eyes.

This was unfamiliar territory for Robert. He felt like he was lost on one of his patrols. He could handle whatever came his way, but the uncertainty of the situation put him a bit off balance. Elizabeth was moody and a bit delicate right now, two things he had never seen in her, and then there was the sickness. The last he could handle now that he knew why. He was encouraged to see her feeling well enough to eat, and he was really looking forward to the dance that evening. He had clean water brought to their cabin and prepared for her bath laying out towels and soap, and placing a chair near the large metal tub in case she needed to sit down suddenly. He orchestrated the entire thing as though planning for a battle, his military training kicking in and giving him comfort. “Are you ready for a bath dear?” he asked.

Elizabeth smiled. "I would love a bath," She sighed.

Today had been quiet the day.

She was looking forward to hearing the music and dancing tonight with Robert on her arms. She began unbuttoning her shirt and stepped out of her skirt. She chuckled softly. It was a good thing her clothes were a bit big, she'd not need to buy new ones until they were in Boston. At that point she'd find a shop or two to but clothing for herself and some generic things for the baby that were of fashion but practical for the cabin living they would be doing. She stepped out of the pool of fabric at feet, and let the shirt drop from her arms. She stepped into the tub, and slowly sank to her knees, the warmth of the water was equisite against her skin. She sighed, and smiled at Robert, who was watching her like a cat on high alert.

"I'm not going to shatter my love, I promise." She teased him gently.

Robert sat in the chair next to her, and taking the sponge from her hand, gently washed her naked body. It was a simple pleasure he had enjoyed immensely since the first time he did it in a cold stream on the edge of the high desert. he was especially careful with her breasts, which he noted had had a new fullness to them. He found that quiet agreeable, and smiled as he felt their new weight in his hand. When she was finished washing he helped her from the tub and just as carefully patted her dry. As he stood, he slowly kissed his way up her body stopping at her lips, and pulling her tightly into his embrace. " I'm so proud of you my love, and Victoria Elizabeth too!" he said rehearsing the name as he said it and patted her belly lovingly with a knowing smile. He helped her to dress, and taking her arm escorted her downstairs to the dance.

Elizabeth laughed. Robert seemed so sure this baby was going to be a girl. "And my darling what are you going to do if it's a strapping boy, just like his papa?" She snuzzled his neck softly as they walked to the dance. The sound of the music reached them long before they entered the grand hall. Elizabeth stoped and stared at the ball room. It was quaint, and unlike the massively over done ones in Boston, this seemed to suit the purpose of a party on the river just perfectly.

She grinned as Robert swept her into his arms, and out on to the dance floor. Her mind whirlled as she twirlled in his arms amongst the several dozen other couples. Singles lined the walls, watching for easy prey. She smiled into Robert's sparkling eyes.

He hadn't danced in years, and he was deathly afraid of tripping her or stepping on her feet, but somehow, when they stepped out onto the floor, everything just clicked. Whatever sickness had been there was gone and and she seemed to float on the air. The band was a simple one, but to Robert at that time it might as well have been the Philharmonic. They moved in perfect time to one another and were carried by the music. It was marvelous! no she was marvelous. He had never experienced her in anything close to her own element and she shown like a jewel. He was certain people were wondering how a grizzled old horse cavalryman like him ever got a jewel like she was.

Elizabeth, I have no idea how i know, I just do. You never said if you liked the name Victoria, do you? I'm sure we'll have a boy some time, but this one is a girl.

Elizabeth smiled at him as he held her in his arms. “I love it,” she whispered as the music died, and the band prepared to start a new one. She saw a movement out of the corner of her eye. A younger man, a soldier, had tapped Robert on his shoulder.

“Sir, may I have a dance with your daughter?” The young soldier asked in a polite tone.

Elizabeth couldn’t help but flush under the appreciative gaze of his brown eyes. She didn’t think she looked that young, or that Robert looked that old. But from her vantage point with her hand on his forearm, she could feel the jealousy bubbling from inside him. She squeezed his arm lightly trying to rein in the bear that had awoken in his muscles.

Elizabeth felt her devilish side struggling to show. But she bit her lip discretely. She’d not say yes to the young man, especially not with Robert wound so tightly. Truth be told she enjoyed that he was seemingly getting rattled, her lips curved into a slight smile as she looked at the young man, and then up to Robert.

"Thank you sir, for your interest, but my husband and I are still newly weds, so I don't think it would be appropriate." She steared Robert back into the dance floor and wrapped her arms about his shoulders, watchingthe young man, disheartened head back to his friends shaking his head.

"I actually might have let him dance. Just so I could gloat when I came back to collect my wife. He's a fine young buck, but my Daddy always said "Old age and treachery will beat youth and skill every time." He hasn't been alive long enough to even know the meaning of the word. Besides, I have to respect him for one thing. He paid you a fitting compliment. There isn't one of these young fellas wouldn't love to have you!"

They danced the evening away and it it seemed to disappear in minutes though the band played almost 3 hours. As the last song ended Robert twirled her again as he had that first time when she said yes that she would marry him. He collected her to him, hugged her close and kissed her deeply in the middle of the dance floor. The soldiers in the room applauded. He let her back to her feet bowed to the room and escorted her out on his arm.

"Oh my dear Elizabeth" he said, "you were the belle of the ball, and your all mine, I'm the luckiest man in the World."

She laughed brightly as he swirled her in his arms, and the applause rang out. She smiled flushed from the dancing and the heat of the room.

“It’s me who is lucky,” she said softly as she kissed him hard and deep. She broke away and took his hand, leading him through the crowd of people and the heart of the group of soldiers back to their state room.

She sank on the bed, exhausted but happy as she felt him join her.

“Thank you for tonight, my love, it was incredible.” Her words were soft as she reached for his hand and thread her fingers into his. This had been the most incredible night. She was feeling light and content with everything. It was a feeling she wished would stay forever. But she knew tomorrow would bring another bout of nausea, something she was not looking forward to. She leaned up onto her elbows, looking at him, her eyes sparkling.

“So, the night is not quite so young, but I think I have too much energy to sleep.” She winked at him, her eyes glowing with mischief.
.

Robert had an idea, he helped her out of the bed and turned out the lamp. Then he dragged the bed over by the window. He rifled through his pack and pulled out an old woolen blanket and threw it on the bed. Robert turned to Elizabeth and slowly undressed her until she was naked, and then waited while she undressed him. They crawled together under the old woolen blanket and Robert pointed out the window at the stars as they lay there just their bodies and the blanket to keep them warm. "What does this remind you of darling? " He knew that she knew. They kissed one another passionately and she turned her back to him ready to accept him from behind. "I knew you wouldn't forget my darling, I knew"

Elizabeth curled to her side, and let Robert snuggle his body to hers, his long shaft, probing between her thighs and then slipping easily into her warm wet body. She sighed, looking out over the stars, and Robert’s body embedded in hers, did feel exquisitely like home.

She pushed her hips into him, as she pulled his hand to her breasts. She moaned softly as he began thrusting into her. She loved the feel of the heaviness of her breasts against his palm as he fondled her nipples tight. She was a touch sore, but the teasing of them, felt more pleasurable than painful.

She slipped her finger between the folds of her lips, and gently stroked her clit, as he rocked in and out of her body.

Robert drove in and out of her waiting for that moment. He knew it well. Her rosebud would clench him and there would be that moan. She was ready. He pulled out and thrust in again further forward. Sliding easily into her warm tunnel. What a feeling, he would never tire of it, never! They fit together like lock an key. They were a pair as though destiny had prepared them one for the other.
This wasn't the the hot sweaty sex of the desert, it was a celebration. A celebration of what they had become, who they had become, what would soon come from them. They took their time, long and slow and unhurried. The moment slipped upon them, as though they were spilling a glass of water and their passion spilled from them as they filled each other, completing one another. Robert snuggled her close staying deep inside her, and they watched the stars over the river until sleep took them once again.

Elizabeth sighed being held in his arms under the protective shine of the stars was amazing. She couldn't have felt more content.

She cuddled him in her sleep, pulling his hardend hand over her belly, alowing him to feel her skin. Soon there would come a moment when this embrace would alow him to feel the baby, and caress it gently to sooth it through her skin.

She smiled as she thought of that day and that image filled her with joy.

Robert woke as the first rays of the sun hit his face. He was pleasantly surprised to see his bride still cuddlled next to him sound asleep. Her beauty still amazed him, even more so that she was his. Every day that went by he woke up pinching himself to be sure this wasnt some dream he was having. she was laying on her back next to him, so he leaned over and softly began suckling her nipples. Her breasts were more beautiful and full every day. He just couldnt resist the temptation, and he saw no reason to try.

Elizabeth woke to find Robert suckling on her breast. She smiled as she ran her hand through his hair and cradled his head next to her. She moved, turning into his body a bit. Today felt perfectly wonderful so far. She hoped that when she got around to standing she still felt as good as she did laying on the bed.

She sighed happily. Last night had been wonderful. She remembered the gleam of pride in his eyes as he had danced with her, and his tender touch when he made love to her last night. She couldn’t wait for the adventure of being a parent wit him. She smiled at how certain he was it would be a girl.

Elizabeth laughed softly, a girl would definitely try his patience especially if she was anything like him, or hell even a tad like her.

"Goodfff Mornifffg" Robert mumbled past the nipple in his mouth, not wanting to disengage. He was getting used to this and the fact pleased him very much. He cuddled her and took his time about getting up. He saw no reason to hurry. That he would have to do later but for now he could take his time and spoil her and that is exaxtly what he intended on doing. he got up and kneeled beside the bed his cock was rock hard and he placed it in easy reach of her half open lips. she had seen how she savored it before, and he gave her the oportunity now to enjoy him without need of moving from the bed. He was glad tha sickness had not overtaken her so far and he wanted to put it off indefinately if possible. He ran his fingers through her hair and waited to see if she would take up his rather obvious offering.
