Alright, now once more I'm tossing out my ideas and the peoples of chat seem interested in my latest thought.

So now, unto the basic run down.

The City of Talins is ruled by the Mistress from Her Iron Throne in House Absolute. Guarding the Sun of Suns and the Winding Tree of Fate. At Her command are the four Generals, Soulcatcher, Howler, Stormbringer and Boneghansher. They are the faithful servants of the Crippled and Drowned Gods. The city also boasts the famous Red Nails Assassins, Guardians of the Cassiline Brotherhood and exotic Consorts of the Court of Night Blooming Flowers. Wandering the land are the Eight Enigmas and the marauding Face Dancer forces of the Scarlet Citadel commanded by the Devil in Iron.

All names and concepts blatantly stolen from published works are not mine; but hopefully I'll put an original twist on this combination of words.

Now to pose the question since it's come up in chat thus far.

What races would people be interested in utilising? I know personally that I'm human centric in characters; but I know not everyone is, so tell me what your preferences are.

Well, I'd say with the races, I like to base it off of how my character looks like. But the idea of a witch, would be nice, maybe a night elf, or some kind of demonic creature, without it being an actual demon, I know it sounds weird, but yeah, but besides of that, I don't really care what's available, I can always find something to play xD.

Hmmm
Sounds interesting. Race wise I don't mind playing a human as long as they have certain aspects about them "modified". I don't really mind and can pretty much play whatevers available.

In what aspect do you want them to be modified if you do play a human? Natural born magic? Beyond human level abilities in physical activities?

Cryptic "modified" statements mean very little as an individual trying to get an idea of what a player base desires.

Alright point taken sorry for not clarifying.
Other than natural born magic or higher physical traits, more along the lines of Natural un-human abilities..the best I can describe would be sort of like x-men.

I'd like draconic races..this isn't very original either but I've been wanting to base or Dragon race on the breath of fire games that I used to play, specifically the third. They look like every day humans but are able to do turn into different kind of dragons through gems they collect.

Never played the game; but I'm sure some sort of ancient Draconic race could be set up.

Sort of they've kind of left, there's a few still about; but they spend most of their time sleeping and don't really bother with worldly affairs these days.

And un-human abilities can be done, it is magic. Whether by birth or a magical mishap things can occur.

Another thing I'd like to see is what kind of characters you want to use, what do they do? What weapons do they use? That sort of thing, think of it as classes in D&D.

I love the Breath of Fire games, that would be an interesting choice, though they get quite powerful. In the games it's pretty much the way you suggested Nihil. They sleep away, mostly as ancient statues or locked away or whatnot. The main character of each of the games is one, and he has to earn the power of each of the dragons he comes across throughout the games.

I for one however am planning on a human... assuming the fact, given your humanocentric views, that the land described for the setting is a human society. It's an odd choice for me in a fantasy setting, as I usually prefer to play 'other', but I have an interesting idea for a Cassiline...

Class can be tantamount as to what you do, and what your roll in the group would be.

For example Boi wants to be part of the Cassiline Brotherhood, who are body guards par none in their source material. That's the idea that I took from Kushiel's Legacy and brought to this. Another person could want to be a soldier, minor noble, wizard or anything else.

Alright... here's my basic character idea. I originally made the character to play in an RP based on the Jacqueline Carey books, so obviously things will need to be changed to fit in with the setting, but here goes...

She was a foundling on the steps of the doorstep of the Cassiline brotherhood. The unique coloring of her eyes marking her as an obvious scion of house L'Envers and thus descendant of Naamah, save for the tiny scarlet mote in her left eye. But at the urging of Cassiel, the grandmaster kept the babe until she was old enough to begin training with the others. He felt that the foundling was a sign of a new direction for the order. Raised as a boy within the monastery, the other students never knew any different. When she came of age to begin her training the girl, who had been named Cassia, quickly became one of the finest swordsmen of the order due to a lifetime of observing the older students.

Then one day it all came crashing down around the ears of the grandmaster. Several students, jealous of her skill had cornered her and nearly beaten her to death before discovering her secret. Those young men, with their imposed vows of celibacy, were on her in an instant. Not only breaking their vows, but breaking the single most important law in the realm.

The boys were cast out from the order for their transgressions, declared apostate and handed over to the crown for judgement. Cassia was broken... a lifetime of training shattered in that single moment. She not only learned of desire, she had embraced it wholeheartedly as her body betrayed her. She was cast out of the order as well, though her apostacy was never declared due to her unwilling involvement.

Since that day she has worked as a mercenary guard, often escorting merchant caravans and protecting them from the dangers on the road. She still dreams of one day being able to serve her true position as protector of a Scion of a noble house... but it's only a dream that she never expects to come to fruition.

Obviously plenty would need to be changed in order to fit her into the differnce of setting. Hopefully though a small shoehorn will work...

I have a basic knowledge of classes and races. But mainly from having played computer/console games like Baldur's Gate. I've never played a single table top game ever. But, I'm also the sort who will do the research needed to help round out the character and fill in details if it's needed. I'm also not above being shown where to go and what to look for, etc etc and other such helpful things.

Anyway, when it comes to races, I probably play humans the most (in fantasy settings, typically magic users since I'm terrible at writing your usual combat scenes and have a very limited knowledge when it comes to traditional weapon usage, etc). Next would probably be the half vampire since I can incorporate the best traits of humans and vampires in there. After that, I'm all right with playing anything that appears relatively human. When it comes to classes, I prefer magic users or perhaps thieves. Maybe even a bard-like character since they can do limited magic. But any class that relies on hand-to-hand combat and swords and such is probably not the best fit for me. Even if I played a thief, I'd rely more on their stealth and agility over anything else. I also only play females. But all the details on that can be found in my req thread (link in the sig).

Alright folks, I've decided to have this be open ended for characters.

Give me a brief little write up of what you want your character to be like, if it's too much I'll tell you.

What I want are:

Name, Appearance, Personality, Equipment/Abilities, Short History.

Groups now has its own subforums for OOC and profiles. Do you want to start one there? Otherwise, once this gets going, the profiles will have to get moved over there anyway. Also, do you care who starts that profile thread????

Well Nihil, only you know the direction you intend the story to progress in for a potential name. Unless you're anything like me, in which case you're waiting to see the potential characters people make before settling on a direction. At that point, "The City of Talins" works, or even "The Iron Throne" would work for a title for now until you come across a better idea.

Not sure if people realized it, but a profile thread has been made. Go here if you're going to submit something. Presently only 2 profiles have been submitted. :)

I also need suggestions for plot, I built a lot of plot hooks into the setting; but I need to know what you guys want to do.

Is there any room left in this? And will there be any smut involved, or is it purely heroic adventure stuff?

Edit: Never mind, just noticed how old this thread is, I assume it's either been up and running for a while or was discarded already.
