Just friends (Sanantha & Sinfulrook)

Leo held the AP Psych book in his lap, and her notebook in his hand. He began writing down all the answers that he knew, but then flipped through pages to find some answers he wasn't sure about. For some reason, there were a lot of questions, and he answered all of them just as she finished her English homework. When he felt her lay down on the other side of the bed, he turned to look back at her, closing the AP Psych book and notebook, tossing them ontop of the AP English book. "At least we got it done." He told her and plopped down on the bed, closing his eyes and sighing a bit.

When she got up from the bed, he looked at her walking and nodded. He layed there for a while and then went downstairs to the kitchen, feeling a bit exhausted from all that homework she had. "Need any help?" He asked her as he entered the kitchen and saw her cooking the pasta already. Her cooking was delicious, and even when his parents were home, she'd cook for them, and they would all appreciate it a lot. He sat down in a chair by the table and watched her cook.

Humming along as she cooked Alex didn’t even notice it when Leo came into the kitchen. It happened every time she cooked, no matter where she was she just kind of zoned out as she worked, it was almost like cooking was a form of therapy or relaxing activity that she loved. All that never stopped her from being startled when anyone popped up in what she always thought of as ‘her’ kitchen whenever she was in it.

Turning around quickly she had her hand raised above her heart having let out a little squeak when he startled her. Shaking her head she reached over to the counter next to her and picked up a bowl, a grater and a block of cheese and took it over to counter near him, “I need about a quarter of that shredded up to put on top once I’m finished. Oh and set the table once you’re done.” She was starting to get excited as she always did before explaining what she was making, rocking up onto her toes and bouncing. “I’m making fettuccini alfredo! It’ll be done in about fifteen minutes.”

With that she went back to cooking starting to hum again as she worked and danced about the kitchen, lost in the activity. Finally after a short time Alex pulled the things off the stove and brought them to the table sprinkling the cheese on top of the sauce covered noodles. “Ha! Olive Garden eat your heart out!” She grinned as she sat down across from him.

Leo nodded and pulled out a set of plates and instruments for them to use, setting it all up just in time for her to finish cooking. He sat down and watched her serve the amazing looking food. It smelled great as well, and he couldn't wait to eat. He smiled up at her when she sprinkled the cheese and waited for her to sit down.

"Alex, I can't say it enough times, you're an amazing cook." He said before he took a bite of the pasta, a small one to taste it with the sauce and cheese. "So delicious..." He mumbled after he swallowed the first bite and ate slowly, enjoying every little morsel of food that was on his plate, smiling at her the entire time he was eating. He loved to eat slowly, mainly because he loved to enjoy and savor the food and all of its flavors.

Alex blushed when Leo praised her food, she never really liked getting praise for it for some reason, it was just something she did and would do for practically anyone. After Leo finished she cleared the dishes from the table, rinsed them and put them into the dish washer before leaning against the counter with a happy sigh. Yet another dinner completed with nothing going wrong, it always put her into a good mood and using that she walked over to the table and grabbed Leo by his hand and dragged him towards their lounge and the huge TV that dominated that room.

“Lets watch a movie! We’re done with homework and it’s too early for me to go home and I’m not tired so movie!” She was bouncing happily as she tugged him into the room before letting go and jumping over the back of the couch landing onto the soft surface with a giggle before rolling onto her side facing the TV screen and pointed at the shelves full of DVDs, “Your turn to pick Leo, just don’t pick something scary…please you know I hate those.” She shivered as she remembered the last horror film that they’d watched, something about a psycho who’d captured people and made them do horrible things to survive.

Leo smiled and watched her rinse the dishes, but soon found himself being dragged through the house and to the basement lounge that was set up just for them and their friends. The biggest thing down there was the TV, a 52 inch plasma, but there was also a foosball table, a pool table, a separate TV set up with video games, and even two separate computers for gaming. It was a huge place, but the TV stood out the most. When she mentioned she didn't want a scary move, he walked past the couch, snickering loudly when he remembered the last time they watched it. She was so scared she cuddled into him the entire time, not even watching the movie.

"Alright alright, calm yo tits girl." He said with another laugh as he scanned through the DVD rack, picking a classic comedy movie that a lot of people have liked, even the two of them. He put it into the DVD player and then grabbed the remote, going over to her and plopping down on the couch next to her. "I picked a comedy this time, hope you like Hangover." He said with a smile and hit play on the remote. He then pulled the small blanket that was hanging on the back of the couch and tossed it over himself, waiting for her to snuggle up and try to steal some of his blanket.

"Ughh!" Alex buried her face into her hands, "This movie is soo stupid Leo...you know that right?" Even as she said it she worked on settling herself into the couch and getting comfortable. Shivering slightly as the DVD went to its menu and Leo started it she glared over at him since he’d taken the only blanket down on the couch. Giving a big sigh she crawled over to him, lifted the blanket and draped herself against his side and behind his legs which were curled on the couch in front of her. Pulling the blanket back over herself she got into the movie, but not before poking Leo in the side with the snide comment, “Blanket hog.”

Alex burst out in giggles again during the movie, “that’s soo stupid.” She couldn’t help herself, enjoying the humor of the morons in the movie. She was comfortable lying against Leo and felt herself getting drowsy, her eyelids drooping between parts where she’d giggle or laugh quietly at the movie. Those parts becoming further and fewer between as she paid less attention to the movie and more to how comfy and warm she was. Finally Alex dropped her head down on Leo’s shoulder and drifted to sleep.

Leo stuck his tongue out at her when she said she said the movie was stupid, then waited for her to move over closer to him. "I know it is, but there's nothing better." He told her and then helped her get comfortable inside the blanket. He listened to her giggle throughout most of the movie, then looked at her starting to get sleepy. He knew when she was sleepy because she'd always get more quiet and less energetic. Once he felt her head plop down on his shoulder, he looked at her and smiled softly, turning the tv down to a very quiet volume.

The movie ended only twenty minutes after she fell asleep, and by that time, Leo was asleep as well. His eyes were closed shut, and his head was gently resting on top of hers. His lips were slightly parted, but he was breathing through his nose. He didn't snore, but his breathing was probably heard since it was dead silent. Leo was cuddled up against her under the blanket, feeling nice and warm just as he always was when he cuddled with her.

Feeling herself start to wake up Alex tried to roll over in her bed to snuggle back against her warm pillow but felt herself shift, wrapped up in the blanket. It smelled nice, making her feel comfortable and safe. Alexis trued to snuggle deeper into her pillow but it was slightly hard and unyielding, so she reached her hand up and gave it a light hit to try to fluff it. Her hand it but it didn’t sink into the feathery mass that were her pillows, instead it landed against something warm, slightly springy but almost hard underneath. Opening her eyes she saw that she was staring straight at someone’s bare chest and tried to scramble backwards wondering where she was and whose bed she was in.

Her eyes popped open and she came to full wakefulness as she rolled from the couch falling to the floor and dragging the blanket with her, “AhhH!” Landing with a soft thump she lay still trying to figure out what was going on. Everything rushed into her mind as she lay ignoring her now sore butt, and looked at Leo’s couch. “Crap…we fell asleep.”

Leo slept motionlessly the whole time they slept on the couch, but then shifted around a little bit. He didn't realize in his dreams that there was something pressing against him, snuggling almost, but then he began to slowly wake up. He felt something poking at him, as if trying to be fluffed. He squirmed about a bit, feeling a bit ticklish. When he felt the warmth pull away, he opened his eyes and looked at Alex, wondering what happened last night. He then tried to reach for her and catch her, but missed her, and almost got pulled down with her since the blanket pulled on him.

He sat back and finally sighed, glad that it wasn't anything serious. He slowly got off the couch and sat her up. "Yeah, we kinda did..." He said and yawned, then looked at the clock nearby. It was 1am, they must've slept for a little while at the least. "Do you just want to spend the night here?" He offered her, the offer always open to her no matter what, ever since their promise freshman year.

Rubbing her eyes and trying to hide her yawn at the same time, Alex just nodded at him and gave a little “uh-huh” sound of agreement. Trying to read the clock she found it took her a moment to get her eyes to focus on the numbers instead of trying to close again and saw the time. “It’s too late to go home, so I’ll stay here.” Standing up she felt herself wobble for a moment and grabbed the edge of the couch to steady herself while she leaned down grabbing the blankets and slinging it over her shoulder while she waited on Leo.

Her mind roamed here and there including trying to figure where she’d sleep in the big house tonight. Sometimes she’d end up asleep on one of the many couches while they were doing something, other times she knew she’d fell asleep in Leo’s bed, but her sleep addled thoughts couldn’t settle on where she’d sleep tonight, so she just shoved those concerns aside and held out her hand towards Leo who was still on the couch and made a little noise trying to get him to hurry up. Alex was waking up slightly and felt her thoughts moving towards the promise they had made a few years ago.

Leo yawned more as she staggered to get up from the floor, feeling cold already without the blanket. He slowly got up when she reached her hand out, and was almost fully awake now. He would fall asleep easily, but he didn't know if she would, and that was his prime concern. "Come on, I'll piggyback you." He said and kneeled down in front of her, waiting for her to hop on his back. He didn't like carrying people, but he would carry Alex anytime that she wanted, and especially when she was drunk or tired.

As she hopped onto his back, he carried her slowly, letting her sleep on his back. He knew he should just drop her off on a couch or in the guest bedroom, but he felt too lazy to make that extra few steps, so he went straight upstairs out of the basement and up the second floor to his room. He managed to open and close the door silently, then gently layed Alex down in his bed, pulling the extra blanket off her. He pulled his covers over her and then layed down on the other side of the bed under the covers, keeping himself warm and falling asleep quickly.

Jumping up onto his back Alex felt herself start to drift and fought it for a few moments before succumbing to it. Momentarily waking when she felt herself being dropped onto a bed she felt Leo lay down next to her his weight pushing down the other side of the bed, and even though it was late spring and quite warm the A/C in the house kept Leo’s room cold, so that the warmth under her blankets and Leo’s body warmth made Alex wiggle over to him and snuggled up against his back letting his heat and her own drowsiness retake her.

Early the next morning she woke feeling her limbs tangled into Leo’s and just laid there feeling comfortable and safe. Relaxing she let her head press deeper into Leo’s chest and closed her eyes again deciding that she’d lay there for a few more minutes and that Leo would be up shortly and they’d get up to get ready for school. With that she felt herself drift back off to sleep, her last conscious thought was her wondering if they remembered to set the alarm.

Leo was asleep, even when she cuddled up to him after he layed down in the bed next to her. He slept silently and comfily throughout the whole night, feeling warm with her snuggling up to him. In the middle of the night, he woke up, feeling a bit uncomfortable on the spring mattress, and he managed to shift to face her and cuddle with her without waking her up, feeling comfortable again. He fell back asleep quickly and slept into the morning.

Once morning came, he woke up to the alarm of his clock that was set to wake him up daily. He groaned a little bit, mumbling something even he didn't quite comprehend, then turned to hit the snooze button on the alarm clock. "Alex, wake up." He said softly and rubbed his eyes, yawning and stretching afterwards while sitting up in his bed. He hated mornings, he wasn't a morning person at all. During the weekends, he loved to sleep in until about noon, because that's when he'd always be more awake.

Shaking her head when she felt something trying to rouse her from her comfortable cocoon of warmth and safety Alex pushed her head against Leo’s stomach mumbling still mostly asleep. “Don wanna…go way.” Figuring that was enough to make her pillow stop moving Alex wrapped her arms around Leo’s waist and sighed trying to get back to sleep. Alex usually had no problems with mornings, they simply existed and so she had to deal with them. On the rare occasions when she fought getting up and tried to stay into bed Alex tended to end up grumpy, she knew it, everyone else knew it, but there was nothing anyone could do about it.

Her sleep was interrupted again by Leo’s alarm clock breaking out in its beeping again before Alex’s mind and fully dropped into slumber again. Raising her hand Alex smacked it hard against Leo’s chest, “snooze…” Fighting to stay asleep Alex felt herself loosing and hating every second of the slow drag to consciousness. Finally she opened her eyes glaring at the light of morning and the fiendish device that had obviously decided that it was going to torment and torture her this morning by depriving her of her sleep. After she felt she’d glared at the inanimate object for long enough Alex shifted her gaze settling her glare onto her best friend, not sure how it was his fault, but it just was, it must be. After all, Alex sure didn’t want to get up this morning.

Leo let out a little 'oof' when she smacked his chest. She hit hard in her mornings! He knew that, but it's never been this hard. He then hit the snooze on the alarm clock when she finally opened her eyes to look up at him, then looked down at her. "Do you want to skip school today?" He asked her and then rubbed the top of her head gently, messing with her hair a little bit. She was so adorable when she was sleepy and a bit cranky, but when she got up to be really cranky, she was scary, even he was afraid of her.

"You can sleep for a bit longer, I'll go shower first." He told her and slowly got out of bed after escaping her grasp, then tucked her back in so she was warm and comfy. He then grabbed some clean clothes and a fresh towel and went to go shower. He knew there was no way to get her out of bed until she was ready on her own, so he just went went to the bathroom and started his shower. Only twenty minutes later he was out of the bathroom and came back into his room.

“No Skipping…” Her voice was still rough with sleep as she shook her head fighting to get it way from his playful hand, messing up her already bad bed hair. Alex mumbled for a few moments still glaring even as he tucked her back in knowing she wouldn’t be able to get back to sleep. Laying still Alex tried to come to terms with the fact that she was awake for the day before sitting up and throwing the blankets back to find some of her clothes to wear for the day.

Still groggy and feeling her hatred for the upcoming day Alex went into Leo’s closet grabbing clothes at random before stumbling over to one of his dressers and getting into a drawer that she’d appropriated to serve as a place to store her underwear and grabbed some, snatching a towel on her way she waited by the door for him to come back from his shower, pushing past him as he walked through the doorway with a quiet little grunt and headed for the warm water hoping it might put her in a better mood but doubting it.

Leo saw her just push past him into the shower in a hurry, but he shrugged it off, knowing that if he tried to peek inside the shower to even ask if she needed a towel, she'd scream loudly and tell him to get out, calling him a pervert meanwhile. He went into his room, fully clothed after his shower already, and just began making his bed, grabbing his books and stuff, as wel as hers, before heading downstairs to go make breakfast. His parents always left just before he woke up, but they never had the time to make breakfast for him, because it would be cold anyways if they did.

He began making her favorite breakfast, thinking that it could be the only way to cheer her up for the rest of the day, otherwise, he would have to deal with a cranky Alex, or even worse, he could become cranky after she cusses him out for something stupid. He remembered one time that she did cuss him out for one small thing that he even apologized for, and she ignored him for the rest of the day. He didn't want that repeat to happen, and if it was going to happen, they might not even move in together, and that would devastate him.

Groaning as the hot water hit her Alex took a long shower for her, nearly half an hour later she stepped out into the steamy and fog filled bathroom and cracked the door hoping the steam would vent while she dressed. Finally awake enough to at least function she glanced at the clothes she picked out of Leo’s closet and grimaced before pulling them on. A pair of white tight shorts, one of Leo’s black band t-shirts and one of his large green hoodies completed her outfit, Alex figured everyone would know she crashed at Leo’s and that would save at least one question.

With that she turned and brushed her hair and put on some make up. Not bothering to do anything special with her hair Alexis knew that it would dry into its long curls by the end of second period. With her clothes sorted out she trudged downstairs and saw a plate of cinnamon sugar toast sitting on the counter. Dropping into a chair she started to wolf down the food, looking up to give Leo what she hoped looked like a smile but was probably closer to a grimace.

Alex was grateful for the food and knew he was trying to put her in a better mood but it didn’t help all that much, she really just wanted to crawl back upstairs and sleep for a while more. School however wouldn’t be forgiving to her if she did, so here she was, but Alex decided that she’d definitely make the effort to be nice to Leo today. “Thanks Leo, I appreciate this.” She gestured to her now crumb strewn plate and have a shoulder shrug, “I’m probably gonna be bad company today though…”

Leo heard her footsteps as she tumbled down the stairs, or at least that's what it sounded like to him. Just before she was in sight, he managed to place her plate with her cinnamon sugar toast, and then went to go grab his own, sitting down just as she came in. He ate just as quickly as her, and then nodded when she said thanks to him. He then grabbed the plates and put them in the dishwasher that was already nearly full, starting it up after filling it with soaps and whatnot. He then turned to her while standing by the counter.

"That's okay, I know you might be, but as a friend, I'm here to try and make it better." He said with a small smile. He then proceeded to walk past her and towards the front door, their bags already packed since the time she was in the shower. He slinged his backpack onto one shoulder and then held hers up with the other hand, waiting for her to grab it. "Since you drove here, are you okay to drive to school? Or should I?" He asked her curiously, wondering if she was still groggy. He didn't want that to upset her, and he just realized that he probably shouldn't have asked that question.

Shrugging in response to him asking if she wanted to drive to school, Alex took her bag and slung it over her shoulder and stared blankly at him. “I don’t care Leo. I just want to go to school then go home and sleep. And we took your car remember so I have to ride back to school with you.” Alex felt herself getting irrationally grumpy at his question and knew her response was almost snappy, which made her feel bad but at the same time she couldn’t summon enough energy to change how she felt.

“You know what? I need coffee…” With that in mind she walked out to Leo’s car and hopped into the passenger seat waiting for him to join her. “Take me to Starbucks Leo, and step on it.” Giggling at herself she felt that maybe a caffeine high would put her in a better mood for the long day that was definitely ahead of her. With that in mind Alexis decided that if this worked she’d have to write it down for all of her other future grumpy mornings and if it doesn’t, well then no real loss except a few bucks.

Leo heard the grumpyness in her reply to him, but he didn't let it bother him, he knew it was coming, he kind of had it coming is what he was thinking. He then stepped outside and locked the front door before going to his car, slipping into the driver's seat and shutting the door. Just as he put the key in the ignition and was ready to turn the key, he heard her say Starbucks. He despised that place, he hated going there and he hated all the preppy cheerleaders and girls that went there just because the coffee tasted good. He has tasted it before, he didn't like it, nor the people that went to drink coffee from there.

"Alex..." He said and started the car, then slowly began backing out of the driveway. "You know I hate that place, but since you asked, I guess I have no choice." He said to her and sighed, putting the car in drive and pulling away from his house and down the street. Only a few minutes later, they were at the nearest Starbucks store. He parked the car close to the door so that she could hop out and grab her coffee. Leo could never say no to Alexis, she was always nice to him, helping him out with his grumpyness and other things, so this time, he decided that if this was going to help her get a little less grumpy, he was going to let her do it.

Listening to him grumble Alex bit back a snappy remark knowing it would only make things worse for her today. Hopefully she was going to turn over a new leaf and find a way to overcome her bad days, though rare she still thought even a few were too many. Which was why as soon as Leo stopped at Starbucks Alexis was out and trudging inside heading towards her caffeine cure. Her shoulders still slumped and a scowl on her face as she got into line Alexis soon had her triple espresso in one hand and some frozen coffee drink in the other that she had gotten because the clerk said it was loaded with caffeine.

Hopping back into Leo’s car she practically scalded her tongue off when she choked down the espresso almost as soon as Leo started off towards school. “You better pray this works, or I’ll be hyper and grumpy.” Glaring down at the now empty espresso cup she started to sip on the bitterly cold Frappuccino giving herself a brain freeze after the scalding hot espresso. “Oww…oww…owww….brain”

Leo noticed her coming back to the car, and once she was inside, he drove off towards school carefully, making sure she didn't spill her drink. After about half-way to the school from the starbucks, he came to a red light and looked at her when she started saying ow. He snickered a little bit and just kept his eyes out on the road. "You're such a silly girl, Alex, you know that?" He said with a chuckle, liking that she was so silly all the time. When the light turned green, he accelerated slowly, feeling bad for her that she got brain freeze.

As they finally pulled up to the school, he parked the car in his parking spot and then slowly got out, going out his car and locking it once she was out with her things. He went over to her side and stood next to her for a moment. "Alex, I really hope you won't be grumpy, so good luck." He said with a kind smile and began walking towards the school with his backpack on one shoulder, wondering if she was going to follow him towards the school like she always did when he drove.

Grumbling under her breath Alex went back to sucking down her frozen coffee already starting to feel the effects of the caffeine from the scalding espresso that she had poured down her throat. It seemed to actually be working and once they were at the school Alex watched Leo hop out of his car leaving her staring for just a moment before scrambling to grab her things and keep hold of her drink as she chased after him.

Catching up she walked next to him a small smile on her face. “It’s working…I hope the crash doesn’t kill it though.” She was already worried slightly about how she would feel when the inevitable caffeine crash happened as she burned it out of her system. Giving a little shrug she linked her arm through the crook of Leo’s and skipped along next to him starting to drag him through the doors of the school. “Well let’s make the most of it while it lasts.” She punctuated her statement with a giggle feeling giddy as more and more caffeine entered her bloodstream.

Leo was glad to know that she was a bit happier from the caffeine rush, and he gladly let her skip alongside him while she held on to his arm. "Just how many shots did that coffee have?" He asked her, curious to know how heavy she went on the caffeine. He led her to his locker first, grabbing a couple books and then shutting his locker, starting to lead her through the hall towards her locker. School was boring, but when he got to see his friends, it was the best. He walked up to her locker and let go of her, letting her grab her things. The first class they didn't share together, but he would always walk her to it, because he had nothing better to do anyways.
